(AllHipHop News) A vigil for slain Baltimore rapper Lor Scoota ended with three arrests for disorderly conduct Monday night (June 27).
According to reports from The Baltimore Sun, Police Commissioner Kevin Davis said the vigil was peaceful, until a few individuals got things riled up.
“There came a time when a few agitators decided to throw bricks and bottles at police officers,” Davis said. “That’s not going to happen in Baltimore.”
The vigil began around 5 p.m. and after 8 p.m. the crowd had swelled into Pennsylvania Avenue, which prompted dozens of police cars and vans to arrive on the scene, ordering the crowd to disperse.
The commands were ignored, leading to nearly 40 police officers to line up shoulder to shoulder in an ensuing standoff with the crowd which lasted nearly two hours.
There are reports that there were people shouting taunts and dancing at the police line and that at one point men in masks rode dirt bikes past the police line.
The situation grew so serious that Democratic mayoral nominee Catherine Pugh showed up get the crowd under control.
The incident ended peacefully at approximately 11:00 p.m.
Lor Scoota, born Tyriece Waston, was shot and killed in his car in Northeast Baltimore 7 p.m. Saturday, just after attending a peace rally at Morgan State University.
Police are still currently on the search for his killer.
“We do not have an arrest. We do not have a suspect,” police spokesman T.J. Smith said. “We are effectively where we were on Saturday.”
