(AllHipHop News) Drake’s latest studio LP VIEWS will spend its second week in the pole position on the Billboard 200 album chart.
After opening with over 852,000 copies sold in its first week with 1.04 million sales plus streaming units, VIEWS pushed another 175,000 copies (219,000 SPS) in week 2.

Those equivalent album units are enough to put Drake at #1 once again. VIEWS topped Beyoncé’s Lemonade at #2 (202,000 SPS units, 153,000 sales) and Radiohead’s A Moon Shaped Pool at #3 (181,000 SPS units, 173,000 sales).
Drake also became the first artist to cross the 1 million mark in actual sales with a 2016 album (1.03 million). Adele’s 25 sold 1.27 million copies this year, but the album was released in 2015.
Unfortunately, Drake also saw his sales for VIEWS drop 79% after 1 week of release.
That puts the OVO leader among the highest week 1 to week 2 sales drops in history for a #1 album among Hip Hop acts.
Drizzy’s joint effort What A Time To Be Alive with Future suffered an 81% fall last October.
Other #1 Hip-Hop albums to see a similar decline include Mac Miller’s Blue Slide Park (83%), Kanye West’s Yeezus (80%), Jay Z’s Kingdom Come (79%), and Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (78%).
The hype around VIEWS helped it move over 800,000 copies out the gate, but poor word-of-mouth and mixed reviews for the project may have caused the steep fall in week 2.
The 20-track collection is the lowest rated album of Drake’s career.
In comparison, Lemonade opened with 485,000 copies then slipped to 196,000 copies in its second week. That’s a drop of just 59%. Plus, Bey’s 6th album was the highest rated of her career.
