WHAT DOES THE COMEDY LEGEND/HIP HOP FAN THINK ABOUT ACTS LIKE MIGOS?

(AllHipHop News) Throughout his career, Dave Chappelle made it clear he is a huge fan of Hip Hop.

His classic Comedy Central series Chappelle’s Show featured guest appearances by Wu-Tang Clan, Snoop Dogg, Q-Tip, Ice-T, Big Boi, DMX, Lil Jon, and more.

Chappelle also showed love to the culture with his Block Party documentary.

The concert film highlighted performances by The Roots, Kanye West, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, The Fugees, Dead Prez, Common, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, and John Legend.

Chappelle – along with Chappelle’s Show cast member Donnell Rawlings – stopped by The Breakfast Club this week.

Dave was asked about the popular trend in the current era of music known as Mumble Rap.

“I appreciate it. I party to it. If I go out and they’re playing Migos, I’ll listen to that,” expressed Chappelle. “But a favorite mumble rapper? I don’t know about all that. I like to be able to say the lyrics too.”

The 43-year-old comedic genius will once again share a stage with some of Hip Hop’s brightest stars.

Ms. Lauryn Hill, Yasiin Bey, Lil Wayne, Chance The Rapper, Childish Gambino, The Roots, and Erykah Badu were tapped to be part of Chappelle’s 4-week residency at Radio City Music Hall.

The star-studded event kicks off on August 1 and runs through August 24.

“This year will be my 30th anniversary of stand-up. I figured I should mark that occasion,” stated Chappelle about his 14 shows taking place at the famed New York City venue. “This business is hard. It’s good to stop for a minute and just appreciate the fact that I’m still able to do this.”

He continued, “I’m very lucky to be successful, so it’s a celebration.”
