“This isn’t about me, it’s about speaking for those that are oppressed and demonized that they can’t speak for themselves and they can’t fight for themselves,” Jeezy told Billboard. “I just feel like this is their album. This is their talk and I feel like it’s a celebration… it’s like the kid that graduated from high school last year. Now it’s a nice time for the real world. Now it’s time for the real goal — the real accolades. You already put in the work and you pass with flying colors. So this is the celebration.”

In addition to putting work in the studio, Jeezy has been hard at work building his business empire, with investments in Defiance Fuel, American Cut Steakhouse, Tequila Avion and Figgers Wireless.

Take a look at the tracklisting for TM 104: THE LEGEND OF THE SNOWMAN, which is due in stores on August 23.

Tekashi69’s Manager Sentenced For Smashing Chair Over Security Guard’s Head

(AllHipHop News) Tekashi69’s manager Shotti has been sentenced for his role in a wild fight at Philippe Chow in Manhattan.

According to reports, Shotti, born Kifano Jordan, has been sentenced to time served for smashing a chair over the head of a security guard inside of the swanky restaurant.

Shotti, who ran a record label called Treway, pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree assault over the incident.

Tekashi69 was trying to party back in October after he received probation for violating a plea agreement for putting a naked 13-year-old girl in one of his videos.

Things spun out of control when Shotti and other members of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods showed up to Philippe Chow and crashed the party, literally.

A fight broke out and Shotti hit a guard over the head with a chair. The security guards were licensed to pack heat and opened fire and according to reports, hit Shotti twice in the stomach.

Tekashi69’s bodyguard Faheem “Crippy” Walter was also shot and has to wear a colostomy bag for the rest of his life. He was sentenced to five years in prison for the altercation.

Shotti is also facing15 years in prison for participating in a RICO conspiracy, while his former client/gang member Tekashi69 has cut a deal with Feds for a reduced sentence.

Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” Is Finally Dethroned Off The Top Of The Chart

(AllHipHop News) Billie Eilish has ended Lil Nas X’s record-breaking run at the top of the U.S. charts after playing runner-up to his “Old Town Road” for nine weeks.

The singer’s#### “Bad Guy” has also landed Billie Eilish in the record books – no artist has ever spent nine weeks at number two before hitting the top of the Billboard Hot 100 countdown.

At 17, she also becomes the first person born this century to hit number one, and the youngest since Lorde took Royals to the top in 2013.

Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s Senorita climbs to two on the new list, while Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road drops to three after spending an amazing 19 weeks on top.

Gracious Lil Nas X was quick to salute Billie on Twitter, writing: “congratulations to billie eilish!! u deserve this!!”

In a follow up post, the rapper, who admitted he suffers from anxiety since the massive success of “Old Town Road,” appears to be worried his career is in jeopardy now that he is now longer #1.

French Montana Says He Will Always Be In Love With Khloe Kardashian

(AllHipHop News) French Montana opened up on his relationship with ex-girlfriend Khloe Kardashian.

The rapper dated the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star briefly in 2014, not long after her 2013 split from ex-husband, Lamar Odom but before she had a baby with Tristan Thompson.

The couple parted ways after less than a year together, but French Montana said he is “always going to be friends” with his former love.

“I feel like we had a real dope relationship – there was no bad blood, nobody did something to somebody that we couldn’t come back from,” French Montana said in an interview with Haute Living.

“When the love was like that, it’s always going to be like that,” French said. “Friendship after a relationship is something that’s real hard to do, and I’m glad we’ve been able to do it.”

The rapper recently reunited with the mother-of-one at her sister Kourtney’s 40th birthday party in April but an insider said that they were not dating.

DaBaby’s Artist Stunna 4 Vegas Gets Label Sued Over Sneaker Store Brawl

(AllHipHop News) According to a new lawsuit, DaBaby’s artist Stunna 4 Vegas is being sued for beating up a guy named Courtney Thompson, inside of the Flight Club store in Manhattan on July 22.

Thompson’s lawsuit claims he was shopping in the store, when Stunna 4 Vegas, born Khalick Antonio Caldwell and several men supposedly employed by Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment started beating and stomping on Thompson.

Courtney Thompson claims he needed stitches from the beatdown and also has permanent scarring as a result of the one-sided fight.

Although the Charlotte rapper is not named in the lawsuit, Courtney Thompson made it clear the “Suge” rapper sanctioned this type of behavior from his “employees.”

“The principals and agents of Defendant Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment, LLC, including Defendant Caldwell, regularly boast publicly about paying others to commit acts of violence on their behalf,” Thompson’s lawsuit reads.

Thompson is suing Stunna 4 Vegas, Michael Awute and DaBaby’s label Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment for unspecified damages.

DaBaby is known for rolling with a crew of vicious bodyguards, who have attacked fans who get to close to the rapper.

In May of 2019, a rapper named Don Trag was beaten into a coma, and in August, DaBaby’s bodyguards pummeled a guy backstage in Des Moines, Iowa.

And in March, DaBaby beat murder charges stemming from a shooting inside of a Walmart in Huntersville, North Carolina.

50 Cent Explains How Randall Emmett Ended Up Owing Him $1 Million

(AllHipHop News) 50 Cent is satisfied with the way he handled his feud with producer Randall Emmett – because he got his money.

The 44-year-old rapper appeared on U.S. TV show “Watch What Happens Live!” on Sunday and was asked about his $1 million dispute with Emmett, with whom he was working on several film projects, and his documentation of it on social media back in April.

The feud began after Emmett, who is engaged to “Vanderpump Rules” star Lala Kent, went viral when he misspelled the rapper’s moniker as “Fofty” as he told the rap star he was having a health crisis and headed to an emergency room, adding, ‘”I’m sorry fofty.”

“I got me paid right away, he paid right away,” 50 told Cohen when quizzed about the online drama.

And he explained that the ‘Fofty’ spelling error was not a nickname the two shared, but simply a typing error.

“He was speeding, going fast,” said the “Power” star, who appeared on the show alongside model Kate Upton. “It launched a whole new thing.”

50, real name Curtis Jackson, explained the million dollar debt stemmed from an overdue business expense connected to Emmett’s involvement in his Cheetah Vision film company.

He said that he told Emmett, “If you don’t give me something I’m gonna pay myself back so send me something,” ahead of publicly airing the grievance.

Following the well-publicized spat, the rapper said he doesn’t “have a problem” with Emmett or his fiancee Kent, with whom he also traded insults amid the row.

However, he doesn’t expect to be invited to their wedding.

491: Sam Seidel – Hip Hop Genius

In “Hip Hop Genius,” Sam Seidel introduces an iteration of hip-hop education that goes far beyond the usual approach of studying rap music as classroom content and looks instead at deeply honoring the knowledge of urban students. Seidel lays out a vision for how hip-hop’s genius—the resourceful creativity and swagger that took it from a local phenomenon to a global force—can lead to a fundamental remix of the way we think of teaching, school design, and leadership.
