Check Out The Trailer For The DJ Screw Bio-Series ‘All Screwed Up’

(AllHipHop News) There can’t be a discussion about Houston Hip Hop without mentioning Robert “DJ Screw” Davis Jr. In fact, there really shouldn’t be a discussion about contemporary Hip Hop without mentioning the late Texan.

DJ Screw’s signature Screwed and Chopped sound not only influenced the southern region, but it was also adopted by northern rhymers such as A$AP Rocky and Drake. The life story of Robert Davis Jr. is now being presented in the form of a scripted biographical series.

All Screwed Up was co-written and directed by Isaac “Chill” Yowman. The cast features Rosha Washington (DJ Screw), Paigion Walker, Kyle Mosely, Marqus Clae, Phill Wade, Dean Will, Omete Anassi, Diamond Lyons, LaShae Boone, and Rodrick Randall.

A description of the project reads:

All Screwed Up is a compelling new series centered around the legendary DJ Screw, born Robert Earl Davis Jr.. Not only was Screw a groundbreaking DJ, he invented a signature style that has transcended more than 2 decades of pop culture and spring-boarded the career of dozens. His slow pitched “Chopped & Screwed” technique has been featured in Academy Award & Golden Globe Award-winning films and on dozens of multi-platinum, Billboard topping songs. After discovering his signature sound in the early 90s, Robert’s popularity landed him in the middle of police harassment and a violent local beef. This dispute between two sides of America’s 4th largest city would go on to cause on of the most infamous divides in the South’s urban culture.

DJ Screw passed away on November 16, 2000, at the age of 29. A medical examiner determined his death was the result of a codeine overdose.

Cop Mistakenly Shot 2KBABY’s Associate In Lenox Square Mall

(AllHipHop News) A man from Flint, Michigan has been charged with a chain-snatching that led to a police officer shooting a friend of rising rapper 2KBaby.

The violent incident unfolded inside of at the Lenox Square Mall in Atlanta when police responded to a robbery in progress on Saturday (January 18th).

A sergeant on patrol at the mall confronted three men in a parking deck. Two men, one holding a gun, were arguing with a third man.

The man holding the gun refused to drop his weapon, so the officer fired multiple times at the suspect, and struck him twice.

Unfortunately, the man holding the gun has been identified as Christian Edlin associate of rapper 2KBaby, who had just been stripped of his chain.

The pair chased down the suspect named Antonio Williams, who is facing charges for snatching 2KBaby’s chain.

The rapper’s manager explained how the situation unfolded:

“He was a victim of someone that asked to take a picture with him and then snatched his chain and they chased him,” 2KBaby’s manager explained. “And when they got to him, asking for it back a cop came outside and just shot hitting his friend ‘my brother’ who did nothing wrong but be the victim.”

Christian Edlin was struck multiple times by the officer’s gunfire. He was sent to a local hospital where he is currently in stable condition.

Antonio Williams, 23, is charged with robbery by snatching and giving a false name.

Is Joe Budden A Traitor? Eminem Says Yes!

(AllHipHop Rumors) Why can’t we all just get along? There is something wrong with a Slaughter House song with no Joe Budden! On the new Eminem album, there is a song where he jabs at Joe Budden. Check the lyrics:

 “Lock It Up”:

“Tryna save at Kroger (Yeah)
So why would I give a f### about backstabbin’ Trader Joe for?”

I am sure you can see the metaphor … Trader Joe…Traitor Joe…. This all stems from Joe Budden turning into a journalist and critiquing the man that gave him a record deal. Granted, he didn’t agree with a lot of how Eminem “managed” things, but we go straight to THIS? Beef? Now, what would truly be interesting is if Joe came back with some bars directed to Em. Won’t happen, but a blogger can dream, right?

Eminem had a lot of heat for a number of people, including MGK.

Em says, “But when they ask me is the war finished with MGK? Of course, it is , I cleansed him of his mortal sins, I’m God and the Lord forgives, even the devil worshippers / I’m moving on.”

MGK basically laughed at him.

PUKU – “Move Right Past”

(AllHipHop MusicTell Your People recording artist PUKU (@Notpuku) kicks off 2020 with a fresh single titled “Move Right Past.”

Following the Miami based singer/songwriter’s Khufu Najee – the visual visionary behind fellow budding crooner Elujay – directed visual for “Don’t Call,” the song details the sometimes grueling process of leaving an old relationship while embracing a new one.

“Convinced we know our significant others like the back of our hand, when they disappoint us by acting out of character we quickly come to the realization that we barely know ourselves. These defining moments in your life are mandatory in order for us to become the best version of the man in the mirror. This transitional period doesn’t last forever, no matter what your heart tells you,” said PUKU.

Tyler The Creator Hunts Down Woman To Buy Her Sunglasses

The lady, who was wearing headphones, kept moving until she felt a tap on her shoulder and found Tyler’s bodyguard asking to buy her glasses 50.

The woman was then escorted to a nearby ice cream parlor, where the rapper was sat enjoying a treat and handed over the cash.

Will Smith Admits He Was Unhappy With “Men In Black” Sequels

(AllHipHop News) Will Smith was determined his third “Bad Boys” film, “Bad Boys For Life” would be more than just a “cash grab” after being so disappointed with a “Men In Black” sequel.

The actor reveals it took him a long time to step into the part again because he really wanted it to be right.

And while he did not specify which of his two “Men in Black” sequels he was referring to, Smith notes the disappointing follow-up was a factor in the 17-year time gap between the second and third films in the “Bad Boys” franchise starring him and Martin Lawrence as Miami, Florida police detectives.

“What we tried to do, that was really critical and important to me, is not try to just do the old movies again,” Will Smith told U.S late-night host Jimmy Fallon. “You had to take into consideration the time, had to take into consideration how the characters would have grown. And the reason it took so long is because I didn’t want to make it just as a cash grab. You know, ‘Hey, everybody loves sequels, let’s just do a sequel’.”

“I had fumbled a couple of my last sequels,” he continued. “You know, I wasn’t happy with the Men in Black sequel.”

Bosses at Sony Pictures are already close to greenlighting Bad Boys 4 after the latest installment topped the box office over the weekend, raking in over $100 million during its first week in theaters.

Are Migos About To Part Ways?

(AllHipHop Rumors) We’ve been a fan of the Migos ever since they dropped “Versace” with Drake. That’s when we knew they were going to be something special.

Since their 2008 debut, the group has released three studio albums and 12 mixtapes.

Each member has ventured off and produced music as solo artists and collaborated separately with other artists. They have made names for themselves over these past few years and their caliber is high enough to survive being solo artists. It looks like this might be the case.

Offset posted a picture on Instagram along with the caption, “CULTURE 3 2020/LAST CHAPTER.”

From the looks of this, it seems final. Or maybe this will be the last Culture album? Who knows?

What y’all think? Would you be sad to see Migos  part ways?

Read Chuck D’s Scathing Letter To The Grammys

(AllHipHop News) Chuck D has blasted the Recording Academy over its suspension of president and CEO Deborah Dugan.

On Thursday, it was confirmed that Dugan had been placed on administrative leave ahead of the 2020 Grammy Awards, due to what the Recording Academy Board of Trustees called “serious concerns” regarding her behavior – including a “formal allegation” by a “senior female member of the Recording Academy team.”

The following day, she hit back at the suspension through her attorney, stating that she would soon “expose what happens when you ‘step up’ at the Recording Academy.”

Rapper Chuck, real name Carlton Douglas Ridenhour, released a scathing statement suggesting Dugan was punished for attempting to bring change to the organization.

“As always, a bunch of ignorant, testosterone-fueled, usually old white men stop progress and screw it up. Same old bullsh##,” the Public Enemy member wrote. “They want to keep it status quo and make sure things like Hip Hop stay the poster child of their f##kery.”

Public Enemy will receive a Lifetime Achievement award from the Recording Academy in April.

Chuck revealed he had to “haggle” to include current Public Enemy member DJ Lord, who has been with the band since 1998 but was not present during its heyday.

The group previously chose to boycott the 1989 Grammys over the Academy’s refusal “to acknowledge a new art form called Hip Hop/Rap.”

While the MC is complimentary of Dugan, he added, “it was obvious she was having her own struggles” with the Academy when he spoke with her, referencing the name of his group’s 2005 album, concluding: “I’m not surprised that Deborah Dugan is out. I am appalled because it reeks of the same old jive, a New Whirl Odor that considers the masses simply as ‘them a####’.”

The 62nd annual Grammy Awards take place in Los Angeles on January 26th.

Black Eyed Peas Working On Their Own TV Show

(AllHipHop News) Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am is planning to turn the group’s comic book and concept album “Masters Of The Sun” into a TV show.

The band partnered with Marvel to release the comic book series, which featured a hip-hop group from the Bronx, New York, who must battle an ancient, alien god set on controlling the Earth, back in 2017.

They went on to release a companion album the following year and, speaking to Britain’s Daily Star newspaper, Will announced he has done a deal to bring the show to TV and streaming services.

“I can’t disclose who our distribution partner is but we have multiple releases across different disciplines,” he says.

The “I Gotta Feeling” hitmaker believes the project will be part of a “new era” for the band, which will be their most productive yet.

“We are refreshing the brand so we can have lots of different perspectives and releases of our art, provide different music for people to live life colorfully,” he explains.

Black Eyed Peas are also planning to release an album later in 2020 – but Will says it won’t be their only new music.

“Yeah we have an album coming out this year but now I prefer to say we have a lot of releases coming out this year,” he adds. “A lot of collaborations, consistent quality and so yes now the Black Eyed Peas ‘are on’.”

(AllHipHop News) DaBaby is replying to a video that just surfaced showing him pushing around a security guard at a hotel in Beverly Hills.

The incident went down on December 19th, 2019 after the Charlotte, North Carolina rapper’s show at The Shrine.

Footage obtained by TMZ.com shows DaBaby following the hotel employee into the lobby of the building when he suddenly shoves a guy walking in front of him against the wall.

According to the backstory, the hotel employee had been harassing DaBaby to allow him to videotape him even though he was with his 2-year-old daughter.

The rapper says he politely refused, but the guy kept nagging him.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B7eJlQ4J91T

“I calmly and respectfully said no and explained to him that him posting a video of me at the time would compromise the safety of me and my child by letting social media know where we were staying.”

Apparently, the guy did not get the message until DaBaby shoved him against a wall and roughed him up a bit.

“Who else got a lawsuit for Baby” the rapper said as he vowed to fight any claim filed against him.

DaBaby. real name Jonathan Kirk, is currently in the cross-hairs of a Miami promoter who is threatening to sue the rapper for assaulted him over botched show earlier this month.

DaBaby is also being sued by a rapper named Don Trag, who was beaten into a coma after being a bit too aggressive when asking for a picture since he was the opening act for a show  in Lawrence, Massachuttes in May of 2019.

And DaBaby’s label Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment and his artist Stunna 4 Vegas are being sued for a fight inside of the Flight Club store in Manhattan on July 22, 2019.

EXCLUSIVE: Tekashi 6ix9ine Associate Who Helped In Rap-A-Lot Robbery Facing 8 Years In Prison

(AllHipHop News) Another associate of Tekashi 6ix9ine is about to be shipped off to prison, and he’s asking for some leniency before he receives his sentence.

Drama, real name Denard Butler, is slated to receive his judgment on January 30th, 2020 after pleading guilty to participating, as a member of a criminal organization, in a pattern of racketeering activity.

Drama was present during a shooting in March of 2018, as well as the infamous shooting inside of the Barclays Center in April of the same year.

But his lawyer claims Drama was left in the lobby of the Barclays Center because he could not get inside of the sold-out event, where the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods clashed with men affiliated with rapper Casanova.

Drama, along with Tekashi 6ix9ine, his manager Kifano “Shotti” Jordan, and other members of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, is accused of robbing associates of Rap-A-Lot Records in Manhattan on April 3, 2018.

According to his lawyer, Kenneth A. Paul, Drama admitted he was involved in the altercation, but he maintains he only “placed his hands on” and “pushed some of the victims” around.

In fact, Kenneth Paul told Judge Paul Engelmayer that Drama was simply trying to further his own career as a rapper after a traumatic childhood.

“It is my sincere belief that his involvement in the instant offense stems from his desire to be part of something and to have his music career gain traction. In other words, he’s a ‘hanger on,'” Kenneth Paul told Judge Engelmayer.

Kenneth Paul’s lawyer is asking for a sentence reduction because a long prison stay could be counterproductive for any hopes of rehabilitation for Drama.

“Not only are prisons ‘violent and dangerous,’ prompting many inmates to search for protection and connections in gangs, but research has shown that prisons tend to “reinforce” gang membership,” Kenneth Paul explained.

According to Federal sentencing guidelines, Drama is looking at anywhere between seven and eight years in Federal prison.

His lawyer is asking Judge Engelmayer to sentence Drama to a term of 5 years in total.
