TRAP MANNY Talks Links To Don Q, A-Boogie, His Turbulent Bronx Life & Trap Seazon!

(AllHipHop Features) Trap Manny is no stranger to the ears of those hooked to the new sound coming from New York.

While he is still relatively emerging on the greater hip hop scene, Trap has the backing of many in the game who – like anyone who listens to music – can tell he is uniquely talented. So much so, that his friend Don Q helped him land a deal on A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s Highbridge the Label.

However, the appeal of Trap, as aside from being super talented, is the fact he willing to let fans into his life including his brushes with the law. Recently, Trap dropped his debut project “Trap Seazon”. The EP is like a mix of old New York ruggedness mixed with the contemporary sound that moves the streets today.

While recently speaking with AllHipHop, Trap revealed his motivation to get into rapping, his connection to Don Q and A Boogie, his versatility when it comes to music, and his top five rappers from New York. – Slops

Nicki Minaj Blasts Media Figures & Artists That Don’t Show Her Respect

(AllHipHop News) One thing that people know about Nicki Minaj is that she is serious about getting the credit she feels she deserves. Just days after her rival Cardi B started a conversation about her own impact on contemporary Hip Hop, Nicki took to Instagram to demand the industry put some respect on her name.

On Thursday, Minaj posted a clip from Jermaine Dupri’s The Rap Game reality competition show where contestants were asked to name their female rap influences at a press conference. A journalist started her question by dismissing the possibility of Nicki Minaj being an inspiration for the women.

The caption for Nicki’s IG post read:

Look @ the hate & bitterness on this BLACK woman’s face when someone says their influence is the most dominating female rapper of the last decade chile ALL OF YOU GIRLS DO THIS. SO SAD. Even male artists gotta pretend in interviews now chile. LMFAO. If you’re this weak minded you won’t last in this game anyway. This is what’s going on behind the scenes @ award shows, radio shows, etc. They gotta say they was influenced by ppl who was rappin b4 they was born chile. Anything but those 10 little letters on a big sign. N I C K I M I N A J

This is not the first time this year that Nicki slammed the press and pointed out what she perceives to be the lack of proper acknowledgment from other artists. In July, the “Megatron” rapstress stated on IG, “I always shouted out my influences in my interviews. [Nowadays], it’s become cool to pretend u weren’t influenced by other artists.”

Minaj also declared in July, “Please stop these [write-ups] about what I didn’t do. Y’all are rlly sick & ima call y’all out one by one on Queen Radio. Most of yall doing these [write-ups] have never fought for anything in life. You just sit on the sidelines & watch the doers do!!!!”

Offset Commissions Justin Bieber To Make Art

(AllHipHop News) Justin Bieber has been busy making artwork for his rapper pal Offset.

While the pair have never collaborated in the studio, the “Sorry” hitmaker took to Instagram to share a clip of him working on a canvas and revealed the commission came from a well-known face.

“Finishing an art piece up @offsetyrn asked me to make him,” he captioned the video, referring to the Migos star.

https://twitter.com/jbtraacker/status/1186777970603638785

The artwork depicts the rapper wearing a pink suit, posing against an abstract red, white and black canvas with the star’s name painted in black and purple.

Justin, who is set to drop a new album before the year’s out, has been keeping himself busy with his artwork recently, and last month shared a piece he made for his good friend, stylist and road manager Ryan Good.

In collaboration with Kaws – the American artist popular for his cartoonish figurines – the What Do You Mean? singer also created a framed collage with his Drew House clothing brand stickers.

Yowda Reveals The Best Advice Rick Ross Ever Gave Him

Yowda describes himself as the “King of Nevada!”

Born and raised in Las Vegas, the “Criminal Mind” rapper reps his city down to the core. Crossing over all the way to the East Coast, Yowda is signed to Rick Ross’ MMG.

In fact, Rozay was a fan after hearing just one project: his debut tape Cons. The trust is real.

With songs like “Shut Up” by YG and “She Weak“ with 2 Chainz, Yowda pushed his name to the mainstream light. In 2015, his song “Gangland” dropped during a very controversial time period. He even went on the local news to share his side of the story growing up in LV.

AllHipHop: For those who don’t know who is Yowda?

Yowda: Yowda is the man from Vegas. The king of Nevada!

AllHipHop: How much do you rep Vegas?

Yowda: What do you mean? I’m from Vegas. I am Vegas. The hip-hop scene’s cool, you just gotta tap in.

AllHipHop: How did you get to MMG?

Yowda: Actually Ross caught a hold of my first mixtape, it’s been history ever since.

AllHipHop: Talk about how long you’ve been doing music.

Yowda: I’ve been doing music for four to five years now. I started taking it seriously after I got into a little trouble. I’m like “I gotta do something to stay off the streets.”

AllHipHop: How long were you locked up?

Yowda: Probably about 5 years in prison.

AllHipHop: Biggest lesson you learned in jail?

Yowda: Mind your business and you could come out soon.

AllHipHop: At what point did you realize music was for real?

Yowda: S##t, once Ross took me in. When Ross took a liking to me, I’m like “dang it’s really happening.” He got an ear for it. He got a hold of my first mixtape called Cons maybe four years ago. I knew it was over after that. I remember the first time we recorded our song together in Miami. I didn’t believe he was going to f##k with me and he told me to come out there.

AllHipHop: How has he mentored you?

Yowda: He really helped me a lot with just the business aspect of it all. Keeping me focused. What to stay focused on and what not to get caught up in.

AllHipHop: Biggest lesson you learned in the studio with him?

Yowda: Never stop working.

AllHipHop: Talk about your own sound, what it is about Yowda fans love?

Yowda: We call it Rich Gang Bang music. I just dropped an album on September 20th: Curse of a Criminal Mind. Make you sure you spell my name right too: y-o-w-d-a.

AllHipHop: What’s one thing you want fans to get from this one?

Yowda: A little piece of me. Out of all my albums, I went a little more personal with this one than I did with any others.

AllHipHop: Favorite song on the project?

Yowda: “Criminal Mind,” because it’s a lot about me. I rap about everything! How I got here. I got some gangsta s##t on there, some s##t for the ladies, some relaxed s##t, some party s##t. It’s a well-rounded project.

AllHipHop: What are some goals for you as an artist at this point?

Yowda: Just to act more. I was on shows like Empire and Proven Innocent before too.

AllHipHop: Were you an actor before the music?

Yowda: Nah, I wish I was. [laughs] They just hollered at me, the guy asked me to play a guy in prison. I put on a Kufi and kept my beard, and it was on.

AllHipHop: What’s a normal day in the life?

Yowda: Wake up in the morning, I try to exercise a little bit. I’ve been eating vegan for the last six months. I love it. Then hit the studio. I try to hit the studio seven to eight hours a day.

AllHipHop: 3 things you need in the studio?

Yowda: Sage, water, and peace of mind. I don’t f##k around, I’m on probation. [laughs]

AllHipHop: Who’s in your Top 5?

Yowda: Ross, Jeezy, Nas, Jay Z, and… Lil Wayne.

AllHipHop: Favorite Wayne song?

Yowda: Aw man, I really like The Dedication, to be honest. The mixtapes are the classics.

AllHipHop: Best part of being part of MMG?

Yowda: Just being around great people. Everybody in there works hard, we’re all very creative. We all have a lot of good music, it’s just a good team. It’s kind of like Golden State [Warriors] at one time.

AllHipHop: What’s your favorite Rozay song?

Yowda: Right now it’s “White Lines.” It’s the newest one, it’s most current. It’s a different vibe.

AllHipHop: How would you rank Port of Miami 2 out of all his projects?

Yowda: It’s a classic, because of the content. He kept it current. A lot of people were probably counting him out because it’s been so long since he dropped. But he surprised everybody.

AllHipHop: What’s next for Yowda?

Yowda: My album just dropped so I’m on tour with Rozay right now. It’s been cool, this the second day. We pushing, that’s it.

The Secret Service Questioned Eminem For Threatening President Donald Trump

(AllHipHop News) Eminem was visited by the Secret Service for dissing U.S. President Donald Trump on two of his albums.

Buzzfeed recently published documents they obtained from the government under the Freedom of Information Act.

An investigation started in December of 2015, when a “concerned citizen” reported Em to the Secret Service.

The person in question was allegedly really a reporter from TMZ.com who sent a copy of the lyrics of the rap star’s song “Framed” from his album Revival.

The agency was also concerned with an interview and BET Cypher freestyle Eminem recited which bashed President Trump and his family.

Things came to a head between The Secret Service and Eminem when the rap star met with agents in person in January of 2018.

According to Buzzfeed, Eminem began rapping the lyrics out loud as the agents read his various verses.

The news of the visit confirms Em was telling the truth on his song “The Ringer” from his album Kamikaze when he rapped:

“Agent Orange just sent the Secret Service / To meet in person to see if I really think of hurting him /Or ask if I’m linked to terrorists / I said ‘only when it comes to ink and lyricists.'”

Last month, rapper Snoop Dogg claimed he was also visited by Secret Service agents for shooting a Trump look-a-like in the head in BADBADNOTGOOD’s video for “Lavender.”

“They tried to come holler at me once upon a time when I made that little video where I popped him in the video,” said Snoop. “They were like, ‘You can’t do that.’ I went, “All right, I won’t do it again.'”

EXCLUSIVE: How The Game Went From Having To Pay $1.3 Mill To $7.1 Mill In Civil Lawsuit

(AllHipHop News) Last week, Game with a stunning financial blow, when a trio of Judges upheld a $7.1 million judgement against the rapper.

Game, real name Jayceon Taylor, was on the losing end of a civil lawsuit filed by a woman named Priscilla Rainey.

Rainey competed on Game’s short-lived U.S. reality series “She’s Got Game.”

Rainey sued Game in 2015, claiming he sexually assaulted her during a scene for the reality TV dating show.

He was accused of rubbing Rainey’s v##### and “juggling her breasts” during one scene.

Game lost the lawsuit after he tried to delay several court hearings and eventually skipped the trial altogether.

Priscilla Rainey was “only” awarded $1.13 million in compensatory damages.

She was granted: $6,100 for past medical expenses, $24,000 for future medical expenses, $500,000 for future loss of normal life, $100,000 for past pain and suffering, $200,000 for future pain and suffering, $100,000 for past emotional distress, and $200,000 for future emotional distress.

So how did Game end up having to pay over $7.1 million?

Simply put, his behavior on social media increased the punitive damages awarded to Priscilla Rainey six-fold.

Circuit Judge Diane S. Sykes of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit was one of three judges who issued the final decision regarding the case.

Judge Sykes cited several posts on Game’s social media accounts as the reason Rainey was awarded an extra $6 million.

On November 14th, 2016, Game called the court to inform them he would not be able to make the trial, the same day jury selection started in his trial against Rainey.

The rapper explained he had to undergo two emergency root canals, and even presented a note from dental clinic to the judge.

The Judge called to verify the dental procedure, and an endodontist confirmed the rapper underwent surgery.

However, images from Game’s Snapchat torpedoed his medical excuse, after a judge got a hold of some pictures Game posted just hours after he received his root canals.

“The photos depicted Taylor smoking something in a dark room under pink neon lights at 2:44 a.m. on Monday, November 14,” according to Judge Sykes. “It remained un-clear whether Taylor’s dental issue was a previously known condition or a sudden-onset emergency—a material fact in evaluating whether this was a good-faith excuse for skipping trial or just a ruse.”

The Judge said the images appeared as if Game “was out partying in the middle of the night just a few hours after he placed a call to an ’emergency dental hotline’ and a few hours before he was due in court in Chicago.”

“Taylor’s actions were indicative of somebody who had no intention of appearing at trial,” Judge Sykes explained.

The next issue for Game was his Instagram account.

The infamous messages he posted about Priscilla Rainey being a transsexual were presented during the trial and caused the most damage to Game”s pockets.

The Compton rapper posted a picture of himself wearing boxing gloves and in the caption he labeled Rainey a “thirsty Gatorade mascot of a transvestite” who was involved in ‘Tranny Panty’ activity.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/BBWJItimojy

Game’s Instagram post concluded with “See you in court Mister Rainey.”

“On these facts it’s abundantly clear that Taylor’s conduct warranted further sanction,” Judge Sykes ruled. “The reprehensibility of the defendant’s conduct—is the most important.”

As a result of Game’s behavior during the trial the judge decided to give Priscilla Rainey $1.13 million in compensatory damages and $6 million in punitive damages.

Game argued that the judgement against him was excessive, but Judge Sykes, who issued the final ruling and closed the case, disagreed.

“The punitive award is approximately six times the compensatory award. We’ve upheld similar ratios in the past,” according to Judge Sykes. “We’ve even upheld higher ratios…the truly egregious nature of Taylor’s conduct supports the size of this punitive award even with the significant compensatory award.”

Queen Latifah Reveals Struggle For Success In Motivational Speech At Harvard’

(AllHipHop News) Queen Latifah urged students at Harvard University to “fight for what they believe in” as she revealed she was discouraged from her career by bosses at her agency.

The star was presented with the W.E.B. Du Bois medal from the prestigious institution on Wednesday (October 23rd) for her ongoing work into African & African American Research.

Collecting her medal, the 49-year-old took to the stage to deliver an inspiring speech, where the rapper/actress detailed the obstacles she faced early in her career.

“I feel so honored to be up here and among such great people who’ve done such accomplished things,” Queen Latifah, real name Dana Elaine Owens, said. “Crossing over from rap to film, the people at our agency told my (business partner Shakim Compere) I could never be an A-list artist. Wrong thing to tell him. He was determined to make sure I became an A-list actress.”

Revealing her unusual method of overcoming the challenges thrown at her by her career and Hollywood in general, she confessed: “I get in the backyard sometimes and I scream ‘Fight! Fight Fight!.”

“That’s me fighting for my life. Fighting against drugs and alcohol. Fighting against mental illness, fighting against racism, sexism, all of it. You’re gonna have to fight.”

The “Set It Off” star ended her speech by encouraging students to follow their ambitions, preaching: “‘I want to speak to all of you students out here, and let you know that you can be whatever you want to be if you put your mind to it, and you will have to work hard for it.

“You have to be strong, and be courageous, and know that if you believe in it, it’s gonna happen. Don’t give up. Do not give up. Do not quit. Fight for it.”

Lizzo Defends Her Integrity And Files Lawsuit Over Songwriting Dispute Over “Truth Hurts

(AllHipHop News) Lizzo is suing the songwriting brothers who are demanding credit for her hit Truth Hurts.

The hitmaker agreed to extend a credit for the song to Mina Lioness, the singer who came up with the line “I just took a DNA test, turns out I’m 100 percent that b##ch,” in a 2017 tweet.

Lizzo then instructed her lawyers to take on Justin and Jeremiah Raisen, who also feel they deserve a writing nod.

“Today we filed a lawsuit on Lizzo’s behalf to establish, in a court of law, that the Raisens are not writers of ‘Truth Hurts’ and have no right to profit from the song’s success,” the star’s lawyer told Rolling Stone.

The Raisens previously claimed they were part of an April 2017 writing session with Lizzo, which produced the demo, “Healthy,” which included the line, “I just took a DNA test, turns out I’m 100 percent that b**ch.”

Justin Raisen claimed he and his brother were never properly credited for the song.

Lizzo has now publicly rebuffed the Raisens’ claims on Twitter, stating, “The men who now claim a piece of ‘Truth Hurts’ did not help me write any part of the song. They had nothing to do with the line or how I chose to sing it. There was no one in the room when I wrote Truth Hurts, except me, Ricky Reed and my tears.”

Lizzo is seeking unspecified damages.

Woman Wants Offset To Pay More Money For Their Kid

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Offset is facing a demand for more child support from one of his exes.

Nicole Marie Algarin, also known as Shya L’amour, has filed legal papers claiming Cardi B’s husband has only provided “limited financial support” for their four-year-old daughter Kalea to date, and now she is asking for more.

She explains the Migos star has already taken a DNA test to confirm his paternity and has even publicly acknowledged Kalea is his child in a touching social media post online earlier this year, in which they posed side-by-side.

According to TMZ, Algarin wants the judge overseeing the case to formally recognize Offset as Kalea’s dad, and make his monthly payments official.

She is also hoping to score an increase in child support, although it’s not yet clear how much she is seeking.

In addition, Algarin wants to set up a regular visitation schedule, so Kalea can spend time with her father on weekends, holidays, and during the summer months.

Offset is no stranger to daddy duties – he also shares one-year-old daughter Kulture with Cardi and has two sons from previous relations.

OutKast Honored With A Tribute Mural In Atlanta

(AllHipHop News) Several years ago, a campaign was launched to get the faces of “André 3000” Benjamin and Antwan “Big Boi” Patton chiseled on the side of Stone Mountain. Over 14,000 signed a petition for the effort, but the Georgia monument is still OutKast-free.

However, Daddy Fat Sacks and Three Stacks have been artistically immortalized in another location in Atlanta. Greensboro, North Carolina representative JEKS painted an OutKast tribute mural on a wall in the Little Five Points neighborhood.

“Each day I painted, more and more people would stop by,” said JEKS. “I hoped the piece would make a positive impact in the community and cause some local buzz, but I didn’t think it would blow up like it has. The amount of posts, messages, and ‘thank you’s’ I’ve received are almost overwhelming.”

The OutKast mural is part of a collaboration between JEKS, local boutique WISH Atlanta, and the public art series Outer Space Project. The wall portrait of André 300 and Big Boi was based on pictures taken by legendary Hip Hop photographer Jonathan Mannion.
