Childish Gambino’s ‘Awaken, My Love!’ Reaches Certified Gold Status

(AllHipHop News) Donald “Childish Gambino” Glover has another RIAA plaque to hang on his wall.

Gambino’s “Awaken, My Love!” joins 2013’s Because the Internet as the second Gold-certified album in his discography.

Because the Internet took over two years to reach that status, but “Awaken, My Love!” achieved the feat in six months.

The Atlanta native’s latest LP hosts the platinum song “Redbone” which has over 85 million plays on YouTube.

“Awaken, My Love!” could be the final Childish Gambino album.

“Being punk just always felt really good to me and we always looked at Atlanta as a punk show and I feel like the direction I would go with Childish Gambino wouldn’t be punk anymore,” he said in June. “As much as ‘Redbone’ is a punk song because it’s a gospel song that’s on the radio, I’m like there’s only so far you can go before you just are the radio.”

Even if Gambino is done, Donald Glover’s award-winning acting career continues to flourish with upcoming roles in Spider-Man: Homecoming, The Lion King, and the Han Solo Star Wars movie.

French Montana Reveals “Jungle Rules” LP Tracklist

With his popular Swae Lee-assisted single “Unforgettable” climbing the charts and having recently performed the hit-smash on the BET Awards, French Montana now plans to follow up with his whole new album entitled “Jungle Rules.”

The LP is set to arrive next week, July 14th, and yesterday the Coke Boy rapper revealed the official tracklist via Twitter. Guest features will include the late, great Chinx, Quavo, T.I., Pharrell, Young Thug and more.

Tupac Dumped Madonna Because She Was Too White

(AllHipHop News) A newly surfaced letter written by the late Tupac Shakur indicates he ended his relationship with Madonna over racial differences.

The missive, dated to January 1995 when the “All Eyez on Me” musician was in jail facing a sexual assault charge, has been put up for sale by bosses at online auction website Gotta Have Rock and Roll.

In the letter, Tupac wrote that he ended his relationship with Madonna because he was worried that dating a pop megastar would disappoint old friends and fans in the gangster rap scene.

“For you to be seen with a black man wouldn’t in any way jeopardize your career, if anything it would make you seem that much more open and exciting,” stated the handwritten note, which has been obtained by TMZ.com editors. “But for me at least in my previous perception I felt due to my ‘image’ I would be letting down half of the people who made me what I thought I was. I never meant to hurt you.”

Tupac, who began a relationship with Madonna after they met at the 1993 Soul Train Music Awards, also apologized for verbally lashing out at her after she made comments in an interview about dating rappers.

“Those words cut me deep seeing as I had never known you to be with any rappers besides myself. It was at that moment out of hurt & a natural instinct to strike back and defend my heart & ego that I said a lot of things (sic)”.

Explaining that he had grown “spiritually and mentally” since their split, he added, “Please understand my position as a young man with limited experience with an extremely famous sex symbol.”

After going over the rights and wrongs of their relationship, Tupac ended the letter by offering his famous ex-girlfriend his friendship and warned her to “be careful”.

The letter is up for sale from July 19 to 28 July with bids starting at $100,000 .

Tupac died following a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas in September 1996.

Troy Ave Releases “Rob Kardashian” Song Following Rob’s Public Spat With Blac Chyna

(AllHipHop News) Rob Kardashian lit the internet on fire yesterday as he went on an hours-long mission to expose the mother of his child.

The reality television star’s public takedown of Blac Chyna went from Instagram to Twitter, and social media users’ reactions cause both of their names to become trending topics most of the afternoon.

Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave decided to take his observations about the couple’s relationship collapse a step further by releasing a song inspired by the situation.

The track features Troy singing, “Rob Kardashian – she took that boy’s heart and bashed it in.”

He also rhymes about not wanting a “pretend hoe” and not getting “Rob Kardashianed” by women or labels.

Part of the song includes Troy announcing he is still going to hold money to his ear, a response to JAY-Z’s much talked about lines from “The Story Of O.J.” off the 4:44 album.

JAY-Z’s $20 Million ‘4:44’ Lyrics About Kanye West Reportedly Not Connected To A Tour Advance

(AllHipHop News) There are a lot of stories being presented about the supposed split between Kanye West and the JAY-Z led Tidal streaming company.

The conversation became headline entertainment news over the last week after JAY rapped about Ye on “Kill Jay Z” off the 4:44 album.

Hov says on the song:

But you ain’t a saint, this ain’t kumbaye
But you got hurt because you did cool by Ye
You gave him 20 million without blinking
He gave you 20 minutes on stage, f### was he thinking?
“F-ck wrong with everybody?” is what you saying
But if everybody’s crazy, you’re the one that’s insane

According to TMZ, the $20 million JAY is referring to was actually an advance to cover Kanye’s “Saint Pablo Tour” expenses.

However, Billboard now reports that money had nothing to do with tour advances.

A source close to the situation told the publication Roc Nation does not structure deals in that manner.

Kanye was one of the early artist-owners/supporters of Tidal, but rumors began circulating just months after the re-launch of the streaming service that Ye was already set to part ways with the company.

The G.O.O.D. Music founder began publicly distancing himself from Tidal following the exclusive release of his 2016 album The Life Of Pablo.

Last year, Kanye began calling on JAY/Tidal and Drake/Apple Music to end their corporate differences.

The war between the streaming companies allegedly played out over the release of Drake’s “Pop Style” which originally featured JAY and Kanye West (credited as The Throne).

When the track appeared on the Views album it did not include the JAY vocals.

Kanye spoke about the change on “Pop Style” during one of his infamous concert rants.

He claimed JAY removed himself from the song out of respect for Drake’s rival and Roc Nation affiliate Meek Mill as well as because of tension between Tidal and Apple Music.

“It went into some Tidal… some political sh-t, some sh-t about percentages on songs,” said Ye last October. “I can’t take this sh-t, bruh.”

The assumed chasm between the Watch The Throne collaborators apparently grew even more after Kanye blasted JAY and his wife Beyoncé in another on-stage rant.

Ye also declared there will never be a Watch The Throne 2 “cause it’s this Tidal/Apple bullsh-t.”

Things seemed to be on a better track in January when reports suggested Kanye and JAY settled their issues and were considering recording together again.

The latest alleged legal dustup over Kanye’s association with Tidal appears to have ended that potential musical reconciliation between the two Hip Hop legends.

Tyler, The Creator Instagram Reportedly Gets Hacked

Tyler, The Creator may have been the latest Hip Hop star to lose control of his Instagram.

On Wednesday, the Odd Future member’s “@feliciathegoat” IG page began promoting Lil Durk and other celebrities.

The images have been deleted, but as of press time, there is still a photo on the page of a man holding what appears to be a firearm.

“Follow me @XoCadeXo, I’m the realest out here. And I’m white. Hate on me,” reads the picture’s caption.

Despite dealing with the online ordeal, Tyler spent the last week promoting his upcoming Viceland series Nuts + Bolts as well as dropping the new tracks “911/Mr. Lonely” featuring Frank Ocean and “Who Dat Boy” featuring A$AP Rocky.

Kendrick Lamar’s ‘DAMN’ Listed As Most Commercially Successful Album Of 2017 So Far

(AllHipHop News) Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN is the top album on Nielsen Music’s mid-year report.

The Top Dawg Entertainment release collected 1,772,000 sales plus streaming units in the first six months of 2017.

DAMN is followed by Ed Sheeran’s ÷ (Divide) with 1,749,000 units.

Other Hip Hop projects in the top ten of the album compensation mid-year tally include Drake’s More Life (#3 – 1,693,000), Migos’ Culture (#5 – 1,002,000), Future’s Future (#8 – 760,000), and Post Malone’s Stoney (#10 – 711,000).

Bruno Mars’ 24k Magic (#4 – 1,110,000) and The Weeknd’s Starboy (#6 – 981,000) make the list as well.

÷ (Divide) tops the album sales chart with 743,000 copies sold, and DAMN comes in second with 678,000 copies sold.

24k Magic lands in third place with 494,000 copies.

More Life sold 343,000 copies to earn the #9 spot for 2017 so far.

On the singles side, Sheeran’s “Shape Of You” leads the mid-year chart with 4,532,000 sales plus streaming units.

The top ten also includes Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like” (#3 – 3,117,000), Kendrick Lamar’s “Humble” (#4 – 3,003,000), Migos & Lil Uzi Vert’s “Bad And Boujee” (#5 – 2,779,000), Future’s “Mask Off” (#6 – 2,706,000), Kyle & Lil Yachty’s “iSpy” (#7 – 2,544,000), and Post Malone & Quavo’s “Congratulations” (#8 – 2,412,000).

“Shape Of You” was the most streamed song (689,756,000 total audio and video streams).

“Bad And Boujee” was streamed 648,129,000 times for second place.

“That’s What I Like” (#4 – 522,071,000) and “Humble” (#5 – 519,887,000) also make the top five on the On-Demand Streaming chart.

The 6 through 10 spots are filled by “Mask Off” (#6 – 505,473,000), “iSpy” (#7 – 494,113,000), “Congratulations” (#8 – 483,252,000), Lil Uzi Vert’s “Xo Tour Llif3” (#9 – 474,220,000), and Kodak Black’s “Tunnel Vision” (#10 – 388,186,000).

In addition, R&B/Hip Hop is the top genre in the categories of Total Album + Tea + Sea (25.1%), Digital Song Sales (21.5%), Total On-Demand Streams (29.1%), Audio On-Demand Streams (30.3%), and Video On-Demand Streams (26.9%).

Webbie Arrested For Beating His Girl Down After Doing Cocaine And Staying Up Two Days Straight

(AllHipHop News) Baton Rouge rapper Webbie has found himself in serious trouble, after an altercation with his girlfriend.

The rapper was involved in an early morning fight with his girlfriend early this morning (July 5), at a Baton Rouge hotel.

According to police, Webbie held the woman against her will, strangled her beat her with a belt on her back and thighs, and fractured her nose.

Webbie lives in Atlanta but and had been living with the woman for almost a year. According to The Advocate, the couple decided to come to Baton Rouge to celebrate the 4th of July.

The woman told police Webbie, born Webster Gradney Jr., had been up for two days straight doing cocaine and smoking marijuana at a local Comfort Inn, just before the assault took place.

Both Webbie and the victim were taken to the hospital for treatment, but Webbie was released shortly after arriving, without any serious injuries.

The 31-year-old rapper is currently being held on aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon, second-degree battery, simple theft and damage charges since he stole the woman’s cell phone and damaged the hotel room and during the fight.

Yo Gotti and Meek Mill’s “Against All Odds Tour” Postponed

(AllHipHop News) Yo Gotti and Meek Mill’s “Against All Odds Tour” has just been postponed, according to statements from a variety of venues.

Promoters from venues in Nashville, Boston, and Detroit have issued statements saying the tour has been scrapped.

Upcoming confirmed dates that have been postponed include the House of Blues in Boston, the Nashville Municipal Auditorium, and the Michigan Lottery Amphitheater.

All may not be lost for fans of the rappers, since some of the venues are still selling tickets with dates that are to be announced for the 21-date tour, which originally started in May.

The news comes on the heels of a busy week for both rappers.

Yo Gotti recently received the key to the city of Memphis, while Meek dropped his latest effort, “Meekend Music II.”

Viacom Calls BS On Game’s Sexual Harassment Lawsuit and Seeks Dismissal

(AllHipHop News) Bosses at media firm Viacom are fighting The Game’s request to hold them financially responsible for a sexual assault lawsuit involving a contestant on his dating reality show.

The “Dreams” hitmaker, real name Jayceon Taylor, lost the 2015 suit brought against him by Priscilla Rainey, who claimed she was assaulted while filming a scene in a Los Angeles bar for “She’s Got Game,” in which women competed for the MC’s affection.

He denied the accusations and is currently appealing November’s $7.1 million ruling, and earlier this year, The Game decided to take Viacom officials to court to cover the costs of the default judgment, and seek another $13 million in damages for putting him in the situation.

He alleges company chiefs, who own the VH1 network on which “She’s Got Game” aired, should never have allowed Rainey to appear on the show, as she has a long criminal history, which includes felony arrests for aggravated battery, and was even highlighted by a doctor working on the production as a possible troublemaker.

The hip-hop star alleges show bosses ignored the advice and hired Rainey to add a little drama to the competition, which she was eventually booted from, before going public with her accusations against The Game.

However, lawyers for Viacom are challenging the claims, and they filed a court motion in California calling for the dismissal of the rapper’s lawsuit.

According to papers obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, they insist The Game’s own behavior is to blame for the judge handing down the default judgment, after he failed to appear in court for the start of the trial.

He had sought a last-minute postponement, but his request was denied.

Viacom representatives also highlighted the terms of the contract The Game signed before agreeing to star on the series, which reportedly releases network officials from “any and all manner of liabilities, claims and demands of any kind… which arise out of or relate to the use of the footage in connection with the production”.

The Game has yet to respond to the filing.

Lil Wayne Raps About “Throwing Up The Roc” On New Project ‘In Tune We Trust’

Instead, the Young Money boss dropped off a four-track project titled In Tune We Trust.

The set includes Tunechi rhyming alongside Jeezy on “Fireworks” as well as freestyling to Playboi Carti’s “Magnolia.”

Wayne ends his “Magnolia (Freestyle)” by giving an update on his long-delayed Tha Carter V album.

“Tha Carter bout to drop,” raps Wayne.

He then gave another shout out to the company that JAY-Z built.

“It’s the Roc. Tell them b-tches, it’s the Roc. I’m throwing up the Roc,” spits the New Orleans native.

Over the last few years, Wayne hinted on several occasions that he was somehow now connected to JAY’s Roc-A-Fella/Roc Nation brand.

The other cuts on In Tune We Trust are “Loyalty” featuring Gudda Gudda & HoodyBaby and “Mula Gang” featuring Jay Jones, HoodyBaby & Euro.

Tiny Discusses Issues With Co-Parenting Kids With T.I.

(AllHipHop News) Singer Tameka “Tiny” Cottle and her estranged husband, rapper T.I., are fighting over spending time with their baby daughter.

The Xscape star filed papers to end her six-year marriage to the “Whatever You Like” hitmaker in December of 2016.

They remained close following their split, but Tameka and T.I., who share seven children between them, have started to clash as they try and work out who gets to spend time with their youngest kid, 15-month-old Heiress.

“(Co-parenting) is pretty good, but we still fight over spending time with the baby,” she tells People magazine. “(In the past) we’d just spend time together, but now it’s like, ‘I want her,’ ‘No, I want her.’ ‘Well, you better come to my house, then’.”

The relationship between Tiny and T.I. is “still a process” and while she admits there are good days and bad, she is determined to stay focused on her music and her recent reunion with Xscape.

The group performed at the BET Awards last month and at the Essence Festival in New Orleans, Louisiana over the weekend.

“It feels great,” she says. “We’re able to come back as grown women, all of these kids later, and do the same thing that we were doing. And now it feels like we have an even bigger fan base!”

And her new beginning with bandmates Tamika and LaTocha Scott and Kandi Burruss has been a distraction from the drama in her personal life.

“I feel great,” she continues. “As one thing goes down the drain, another thing is coming up.”

“It’s not about another man or anything like that,” she adds. “It’s about doing what I love and making money. I’m not missing anything.”

John Legend’s Wife Has Had Enough Of Baby Legend Look-A-Like Pictures

(AllHipHop News) Model-turned-TV personality Chrissy Teigen has issued a new plea to fans to stop sending her photos of babies who look like her singer husband John Legend.

Devotees have been sharing pictures of his little lookalikes on social media ever since one image of a tot went viral in 2015 for bearing a striking similarity to the “All of Me” hitmaker.

At the time, both John and Chrissy were amused by the astounding likeness, but by early 2016, the “Lip Sync Battle” beauty confessed she had tired of the memes as the couple prepared to welcome their own child.

“Please stop sending me this baby,” she wrote on Twitter. “I have had a year of this baby on my timeline. go away, baby.”

Another baby doppelganger surfaced last week, when a Twitter user with the handle @MrMenziN uploaded a shot of the youngster and jokingly suggested the kid was John’s.

“Explain fam @johnlegend,” he captioned the cute snap.

That photo also went viral, as people began posting shots of other babies bearing uncanny resemblances to John, prompting the R&B star himself to respond to the renewed fascination with his looks.

“I think the reason all these babies look like John Legend might be that John Legend looks like a baby,” commented one person, to which the singer replied, “Exactly.”

Chrissy, who gave birth to their daughter Luna in April, 2016, weighed in on the topic and urged fans to get over the similarities.

“For the LAST TIME, JOHN looks like a baby so A LOT OF BABIES LOOK LIKE HIM,” she declared. “STOP SENDING ME JOHN BABIES”.

Some followers lamented with the 31-year-old, but others decided to use her request to troll her online, inundating her profile with more baby pictures just to annoy her.

Azealia Banks Throws More Shade At Iggy Azalea, Wants To Shake The Table With Jay Z!

Just when it looked like Azealia Banks and Iggy Azalea may actually be collaborating, Banks decided to take to the gram and clear the air while throwing some subtle shade at Iggy.

In what appeared to be more of a cry for attention than really a truly genuine effort, Azealia recently made it known that she would like to collaborate with Iggy on a track.

Iggy seemed to hint that the collaboration would end up coming about, and Banks told the world that Iggy spoke prematurely.

“Hi guys, just a bit of info- Iggy and I haven’t officially agreed to collaborate just yet. Although SUPER flattering, her announcement was very premature, as I have still yet to hear which track it is she would like me to feature on! I’m very keen to make sure this moment in female empowerment comes to full fruition, and am still patiently awaiting the song Iggy will send me for review,” said Banks.

Even though it wasn’t that shady, most people felt that Azealia didn’t have to make the post at all, and she kind of took away from what was supposed to be a girl power moment, in Hip Hop.

I’m not sure anyone wants a collaborative single from these two anyway.

Banks is also [still] campaigning hard to get Jay Z to hire her at Tidal. She also wants him to hire her at Roc Nation, as she believes she will be a great A&R.

“Jay-Z needs to hire me to work at Tidal. I would smash it. The ideas I have for it just off of fooling around with the interface a bit are really f-cking good. They need loads of GOOD original content and some more secret tricks I won’t write here. But, there is an opportunity to SERIOUSLY snatch up a lot of space in this new streaming consumer market.”

Iggy needs to stay far away from Banks before she casts a spell on her, and rather than be a businesswoman for Jay, Banks is probably trying to be another Becky. LOL. Jay is smarter than that, and I can’t fathom him jeopardizing any parts of his brand(s) to even have a convo with Azealia.

Slim Jxmmi Jacked For $100,000 Necklace During Stage Dive

(AllHipHop News) Rae Sremmurd rapper Slim Jxmmi has reportedly filed a police complaint after losing his $100,000 necklace during a concert in France.

The hip-hop hitmakers played a show in Paris and during the set, Slim Jxmmi, real name Aaquil Brown, performed a stage dive into the crowd.

After coming up from the dive, Brown realized the chain was no longer around his neck.

The 25-year-old reportedly offered up 50,000 Euros ($57,000) and an opportunity to join them on tour for the return of the necklace, but none of the audience members came forward to surrender the jewelry.

According to reports, police are now investigating the matter.

Hip Hop Responds To Rob Kardashian Getting Played By Blac Chyna!

Rob even went as far as to post naked photos of Chyna on the gram. He also says he paid $100k for Blac Chyna to get her body back “right” only for her to be f-cking off with other men.

It looks like everyone is over Blac Chyna and Rob’s antics, and a lot of folks in Hip Hop decided to let Rob know how much of a sucker he is.

Two in particular who chimed in were T.I. and Snoop Dogg!

T.I. questioned why Rob would put his business on social media, and he went on to call him all kinds of ducks. Snoop Dogg told Rob that he was a sucker and got licked by Blac Chyna. Snoop says he knew what he was getting into when he got with her, and Blac Chyna did exactly what she was supposed to do.

Well Rob decided to clap back at T.I. by confirming that he does indeed have threesomes with Tiny. According to Rob, Tip had a threesome with Blac Chyna and Tiny, and T.I. allegedly paid her to do it.

2 Chainz Provided Free HIV Testing At His Pink Trap House In Atlanta

(AllHipHop News) 2 Chainz used his “Pink Trap House” – a popular attraction in Atlanta – to serve the community.

For the July 4th holiday, the Howell Mill Road location was turned into a free HIV testing site.

Chainz partnered with the Fulton County Board of Health, Test Atlanta, and Atlanta Aids for the temporary clinic.

The event also provided educational packets, games, and giveaways.

That special occasion came after the Pretty Girls Like Trap Music album creator opened the Trap House as a church on Sunday.

“Inside the ‘pink traphouse’ something seldom shown, art, kids, music, good vibes, inspiration etc,” wrote 2 Chainz on Instagram. “The word TRAP is and was associated with a negative connotation. We will see after we get thru injected some cultural ideas the move the needle inch by inch.”

Some of the residents and businesses in the neighborhood have complained about the Trap House.

However, local authorities stated there is not much police can do about the objections because the house is on private property.

Say What?! Guess What Rapper Says He Was Supposed To Play Tupac In ‘All Eyez On Me’

Young Buck recently sat down with DJ Smallz to talk about Tupac’s legacy and his recent controversial biopic. Buck said that although there have been a lot of mixed reviews on ‘All Eyez On Me’, he actually liked the film, and he looks for the positive in a lot of situations.

Buck went on to reveal a secret. According to Buck, he was supposed to play Tupac in the movie. Say WHATTTTTT?! He says he was told he was basically given the part of the movie without even having to audition for the movie until “Pac” (Demetrius Shipp Jr.) came along.

“People don’t know this, but I was supposed to play Pac. I was supposed to play Tupac Shakur. I didn’t get as far as going and reading the scripts or things of that nature. I was actually lined up or one of those guys considered to play Tupac,” said Young Buck.

Young Buck says we need to check Shipp’s birth certificate because the actor looks and acts so much like Tupac.

Buck feels like ‘All Eyez On Me’ is right beneath ‘Straight Outta Compton’ when ranking great Hip Hop biopics. He argues that the vast majority of the characters of ‘Straight Outta Compton’ are still alive, and he credits that for making up the difference in the quality of the films also.

Lil Yachty Talks His “King Of The Teens” Title & Business Relationship With QC’s Coach K

(AllHipHop News) Atlanta rapper Lil Yachty has been a central figure in the rising new generation of rap stars.

Yachty’s progress in the game was covered in Fader‘s Summer Music issue.

In the article, the 19-year-old “One Night” performer addressed being treated as the leader of the kid demographic by potential financial partners.

“Some of that sh-t is so lame. I push this ‘king of the teens’ sh-t, but they be thinking teens like 13. On some super corny, under-underage sh-t. It happens all the time,” said Yachty.

Despite some executives seemingly not understanding Yachty’s brand, he has managed to connect with Nautica, Sprite, and Target.

A conversation on Everyday Struggle in May included the Teenage Emotions creator declaring he was great at doing business, but Yachty also admitted being unaware if his record contract is structured as a 360 deal.

That revelation shocked many people because it gave the impression Lil Boat had no idea if his record company was making money off his non-music related work.

In his Fader cover story, the Quality Control signee talked about his relationship with QC label head/artist manager Kevin “Coach K” Lee.

“It makes things pretty one-sided sometimes. Like, technically the manager works for the artist. What the artist says goes,” stated Yachty. “But I know Coach always has the best intentions, so sometimes he just tells me what to do. And I don’t really have any say. I mean, I have a say so, but for the most part I don’t really care to say anything.”

Peep Why Tupac Broke It Off With Madonna!

(AllHipHop Rumors) Another Tupac letter has surfaced!

It’s no secret that Tupac had all of the women back in the day, and Madonna had all of the men! However, we now know why Pac broke it off with Madge!

Apparently Tupac broke off his sexual relationship with Madonna because she was white. Pac poured out his heart to the singer in a letter he wrote in jail.

According to TMZ. Tupac wrote,

“For you to be seen with a black man wouldn’t in any way jeopardize your career, if anything it would make you seem that much more open and exciting. But for me at least in my previous perception I felt due to my ‘image’ I would be letting down half of the people who made me what I thought I was.”

In the letter Tupac also tells Madge that he never meant to hurt her.

The note is set to go up for auction July 19-28 at Gotta Have Rock and Roll, and the bid is starting at $100k.

Hmmmm it still makes me wonder if Pac had any real love for Madonna, and only broke it off with her because he felt like he HAD to. Madonna certainly had her share of black men back in the day!
