Is BET’s Chairman & CEO Debra Lee Exiting Soon?

Days after the successful 2017 BET Awards, rumors are swirling that BET’s Chairman & CEO Debra Lee is planning to make her exit to take another job opportunity.

According to Page Six, inside sources have been making claims that the company isn’t doing well under the CEO’s leadership.

“Tons of people from Viacom were saying that her days are numbered,” claim an insider.

A source also claimed Lee moved to Los Angeles in hopes of possibly getting into some studios.

“She’s been running the place, and it’s struggling . . . There are so many layers of internal politics . . . It takes 20 calls to get through one insignificant thing,” an insider told Page Six.

Another insider told Page Six that the rumors of Lee leaving Viacom and BET are inaccurate.

Earlier this year there was a serious shake up at Viacom and BET with the former president of programming, Stephen Hill exiting, and the network being slapped with a discrimination lawsuit by employee Zola Mashariki.

Folks have really been going crazy over the dude also because he’s reportedly a billionaire and Naomi Campbell’s ex! Rihanna and Naomi fell out about something, so maybe it’s this man.

Dude sounds like a good catch as he’s allegedly 31 with no kids and is worth 2.2 billion dollars. Oh yeah, his father is the 2nd richest man in the middle east.

G-Eazy Named Partner And Co-Creative Director For Stillhouse Spirits

(AllHipHop News) Bay Area rapper G-Eazy can now add more titles to his résumé.

The man born Gerald Gillum connected with Stillhouse Spirits Co. CEO/Founder Brad Beckerman to serve as a partner and co-creative director for the award-winning whiskey business.

“Spirits companies had approached me with endorsement deals but that was just money. I kept running into Stillhouse everywhere and fell in love with the brand not to mention its smooth whiskey,” says G-Eazy. “I wanted to partner with Brad because he has this infectious energy and passion for the brand he’s continuing to grow. We hit it off quick with an instant shared vision and love for Stillhouse.”

G-Eazy’s investment in Stillhouse is his first spirits venture, and the financing closes a significant round of funding for the company.

“We had an instant bond – in my gut, I knew that G would make an amazing partner and contributor to Stillhouse because of his drive, creativity, and meticulousness,” adds Beckerman, a former Chief Creative Officer at Live Nation. “Stillhouse blends nostalgia and heritage with just the right amount of irreverence and G pushes the envelope to elevate that further.”

The next goal for the new partnership is to pursue expansion into the Louisiana market, which happens to be the location of G-Eazy’s alma mater Loyola University New Orleans.

“I’m honored and excited to represent my second home and old stomping grounds. Can’t wait for NOLA to see what we have coming!” shared the When It’s Dark Out creator.

Besides releasing his own gold/platinum albums, G-Eazy also appeared on 2017 projects by Wale (Shine) and Raekwon (The Wild).

Gucci Mane & Mike Will Made It To Headline Spotify’s “RapCaviar Live” Concert Series In Atlanta

(AllHipHop News) One of Spotify’s biggest playlists is becoming a 6-city concert series.

The streaming company announced its “RapCaviar Live” will kick off with Trap music pioneer Gucci Mane, acclaimed producer Mike Will Made It, and special guests.

Atlanta’s The Tabernacle venue will host the hometown Hip Hop stars on August 12.

“Proud to partner with Gucci Mane on this incarnation of the RapCaviar vibe,” said Tuma Basa, Head of Hip-Hop at Spotify. “Gucci was an early believer in what we are doing and it’s gonna be beautiful to see it manifest live. Taking RapCaviar on the road was just a dream for us a few years ago. This is an important milestone for Spotify, for RapCaviar, and for hip-hop in the streaming age.”

“RapCaviar Live” is also headed to Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and Toronto with additional dates and artists announced in the coming weeks.

The RapCaviar Spotify playlist has over 7 million followers.

It features tunes by hitmakers such as Kendrick Lamar, Drake, J. Cole, Future, Meek Mill, French Montana, Travis Scott, Big Sean, and more.

2 Chainz Talks Earning His Third #1 Rap Album With ‘Pretty Girls Like Trap Music’

(AllHipHop News) 2 Chainz’s Pretty Girls Like Trap Music nearly doubled its first-week sales predictions by collecting 106,000 units out of the gate.

The Atlanta native was just around 3,000 units short of topping Lorde’s Melodrama for the #1 spot on the Billboard 200.

Chainz was not able to lead that chart, but Pretty Girls Like Trap Music did earn him his third #1 on the Rap Albums Chart.

2012’s Based on a T.R.U. Story and 2013’s B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time were chart toppers as well.

Billboard spoke with the “Good Drank” performer at the NBA Awards red carpet on Monday.

“I feel real good. I feel real blessed and humbled by it,” said Chainz about PGLTM hitting #1 on the Rap Albums Chart. “Hard work pays off. I prayed for this album to be number one. I put a lot of effort into this album. I put a lot of resources together for this album, so it feels good to celebrate it on a night like tonight.”

The commercial success of 2 Chainz’s latest project is complemented by critical praise.

Pretty Girls Like Trap Music currently has an 82/100 score on Metacritic, making it one of the best reviewed Hip Hop albums of 2017.

“Panda” Producer Menace Apologizes To Kanye West, Future & Mike Dean

(AllHipHop News) One year ago, Adnan “Menace” Khan was known as the producer behind one of the biggest records in the country.

Desiigner reportedly paid the beat maker $200 for the track that became the G.O.O.D Music artist’s #1 hit “Panda.”

Recently, Menace has gotten more attention for his public comments than his production.

In an interview with DJ Booth, Menace claimed Atlanta rhymer Future and veteran engineer Mike Dean were pursuing legal action against him over “Panda.”

Future’s representative denied filing a copyright infringement lawsuit, and Dean stated he dropped his complaint.

Menace also implied Kanye West did not pay him for sampling “Panda” on “Father Stretch My Hands Pt.” off Ye’s The Life Of Pablo album.

“I doubt Kanye’s paid anyone, to be honest,” said Menace during the interview. “Kanye’s a funny one when it comes to paying people money.”

The 23-year-old British national is now offering an apology to Future, Dean, and West.

Menace tweeted a note that reads:

I want to formally apologize to Mike Dean, Kanye, Future and their respective teams for releasing unfounded and sensitive information to the media that could have potentially affected their professional integrity. They have always been an immense source of inspiration for me and they will always be extremely influential to my work and my development as a producer. I hope that, with time, they will all be able to accept my apologizes.

Chance The Rapper, Lauryn Hill & Yasiin Bey Added To Dave Chappelle’s NYC Residency

(AllHipHop News) Dave Chappelle had already recruited Childish Gambino, The Roots, and Erykah Badu for his upcoming stand-up residency at Radio City Music Hall.

Vibe reports the comedic legend has now added Chance The Rapper, Ms. Lauryn Hill, and Yasiin Bey to the New York City performances.

Besides Hip Hop acts hitting the stage on select dates, Chappelle will also be joined by fellow comedians Chris Rock, Trevor Noah, and Ali Wong.

More special guests are expected to be announced as well.

The Radio City Music Hall gig follows Chappelle’s two highly successful Netflix routines.

Dave Chappelle: Collection 1 (The Age of Spin and Deep in the Heart of Texas) was the most watched comedy special in the history of the streaming service.

Offset Announces Migos’ ‘Culture 2’ Album To Arrive October 2017 (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Coming out of the 2017 BET Awards, Migos made major headlines for their tense interview with Everyday Struggle and a confrontation with associates of Chris Brown.

One Migos member is now trying to change the conversation back to his group’s music.

The Hollywood Fix caught Offset in Beverly Hills, and he took advantage of the opportunity to announce a sequel to the trio’s popular 2017 album.

“Culture 2 coming out [in] October,” said the Atlanta-bred rhymer.

The original Culture features the hit songs “T-Shirt” and “Bad and Boujee” featuring Lil Uzi Vert.

It became Migos’ first album to reach #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and helped them win the trophies for Best Group and Best Collaboration at Sunday’s BET Awards.

Offset also made it clear Migos are not adding more security after the two highly publicized scuffles over the weekend.

 

Prodigy’s New York City Funeral Service Will Be Open To The Public

People will get to say goodbye to the “Keep It Thoro” rhymer at a funeral on June 29.

The services at New York City’s Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel will be open to the public from 2 to 5 pm.

Memorials for The Notorious B.I.G., Aaliyah, Heavy D, and other celebrities have been held at Frank E. Campbell as well.

Surviving Mobb Deep member Havoc was among the Hip Hop representatives to take part in the “A Toast To Prodigy” event held in Los Angeles.

Havoc also honored his musical partner at Sunday night’s BET Awards.

The black-and-white clip just features a young man running while wearing a “stay black” t-shirt.

There is speculation JAY’s new album is possibly connected to a film starring Mahershala Ali, Lupita Nyong’o, and Danny Glover.

In addition, No I.D. is rumored to be producing the entire project.

What has been confirmed is 4:44 will be available exclusively to Tidal members and Sprint customers on June 30.

Tupac Shakur Estate Facing Lawsuit Over Unpaid Royalties For “Bury Me A G”

(AllHipHop News) In many ways, this month has been huge for Tupac Shakur’s legacy.

The late Hip Hop icon’s All Eyez On Me biopic was released, and a 25th-anniversary edition of Juice hit the market.

Unfortunately, June is winding down with some legal news connected to Pac.

The Shakur Estate is facing a lawsuit about a song released over twenty years ago.

TMZ reports:

Natasha Walker — who was in the R&B group Y?N-Vee — sang backups on “Bury Me a G” and even has a credit on the track. But in docs, obtained by TMZ, she says she and Pac made a deal in ’93 that the song would be a joint effort and she’d have equal ownership.

Walker is seeking compensation for royalties, damages, and attorney’s fees.

She may have an uphill battle since the statute of limitations for contract claims in the state of California is four years.

Walker’s lawyer is claiming her client still deserves payment from “Bury Me a G” because the track continues to make money for the Estate.

2 Chainz Responds To Complaints About His Atlanta “Trap House”

(AllHipHop News) As part of the promotion for his new Pretty Girls Like Trap Music album, 2 Chainz set up a pink “Trap House” on Atlanta’s Howell Mill Road.

The site has become a popular local attraction, but surrounding businesses are complaining about the lack of parking and excessive traffic around the home.

2 Chainz took to Instagram to address the complaints.

“Lil bad a####, I love you,” he wrote in one IG caption.

Apparently, a pink car that was placed outside of the home – another favorite of visitors – was recently towed for being a possible safety hazard as well.

After replacing the removed pink car with a yellow Lamborghini, Chainz posted, “Here you go try not to f## this one up guys okay.”

The Def Jam artist has rented the house until July 6, and his team is considering extending the lease.

Despite the neighbors’ continued gripes, there is not much the Atlanta Police Department can do about the “Trap House” because it is on private property.

“We will continue to monitor traffic in that area in an effort to mitigate any problems,” said an APD spokesperson.

Pharell’s Triplets Harmonize When They Cry

(AllHipHop News) Pharrell Williams’ baby triplets “harmonize” when they cry.

The singer-songwriter and his wife Helen Lasichanh welcomed three babies in January, siblings for the couple’s eight-year-old son Rocket.

Speaking about what it’s like to be a father-of-four on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” Pharrell shared that it can get pretty loud when the babies cry in unison.

“They harmonize when they cry,” he told host Jimmy. “Chain reaction is a real thing at our house. When one cries, two cry, then three cry.”

No details on the sex or names of the babies have yet been revealed.

But Pharrell, 44, did share during his chat show appearance that caring for three infants has tested his ability to multi-task.

“It’s a full-on assembly line,” the star sighed, proceeding to act out how he lines up his babies for diaper change time. “All of them are fine and healthy.”

Pharrell also gushed about his son Rocket, who “is into architecture” and his wife Helen, whom he praises as a great mother.

“Man, I cannot say enough about women and all kind of burdens that they carry, and the gifts that they carry. My wife does everything. I love you baby,” he added.

The N.E.R.D. member was on the late-night programme to promote his song “Yellow Light,” which appears on the Despicable Me 3 soundtrack.

Pharrell previously had huge success with the track “Happy,” which was included in the Despicable Me 2 album, and also served as a single on his second studio Girl.

Mary J.’s Husband Kendu Tells Her To Stop The Negative Nonsense

(AllHipHop News) Mary J. Bliges estranged husband Martin “Kendu” Isaacs has issued a public plea to the singer following her performance at the BET Awards over the weekend.

The “No More Drama” hitmaker filed legal papers to end her 12-year marriage from Isaacs in July (16), and the former couple has been fighting over his request for almost $130,000-a-month in spousal support ever since.

On Sunday (June 25), the singer performed at the awards show in Los Angeles and sang her songs “Love Yourself” and “Set Me Free,” which are all about her marriage issues.

After her performance, Kendu reportedly took to Instagram to reach out to his ex-wife and put an end to their fighting.

“I love you to death Mary J. Blige, I can’t even begin to understand why you are going on about this the way you have been,” he wrote on Instagram. “I never wanted to discuss our life airing the laundry. You know me better than that. You and I really need to talk and stop all this negative nonsense. I love you and I always will regardless of your actions.”

Kendu also vowed it is time for him to “tell the truth” in another post.

Mary has not responded to Kendu’s comments, but she previously opened up about the “hell” she experienced after she accused him of having an affair with her protegee, singer Starshell, during VH1 network documentary “The Making Of: Strength Of A Woman,” which aired last month.

“The songs you hear, like Set Me Free, that’s from the situation,” she told U.S. news show Extra.

“(I don’t feel completely free) because I’m not through this divorce yet… but I feel free as a spirit because I took my life back and I’m moving forward with that,” she added. “I hope it (my new album) uplifts them (fans). It’s OK to not be OK. Sometimes to get through what you need to get through, but don’t stay there too long – there is always light at the end of the tunnel.”

Chance The Rapper Unhappy Hostess Over Coffee Ad

(AllHipHop News) Bosses at Hostess, the cake company behind cream-filled treats Twinkies, have been put on blast by Chance the Rapper after using his name in a new ad without his permission.

The hip-hop star, who was a double winner at the BET Awards on Sunday night (June 25), is far from happy about his latest mention in a new social media ad for Hostess’ Apple Streusel Coffee Cakes.

The ad, featuring a box of coffee cakes ‘wearing’ Chance’s trademark hat and the slogan, “How good is Chance the Snacker? I’d say comparable to Apple Streusel Coffee Cakes” went live last week.

The rapper caught up with the ad and urged Hostess executives to pay up.

“GIVE ME MY COIN,” the “No Problem” star wrote in a tweet directed at the bosses.

Hostess executives have since deleted their original post.

Wyclef Takes On President Donald Trump’s Immigration Policies

(AllHipHop News) Wyclef Jean has sent a powerful message to immigrants in the wake President Donald Trump’s controversial travel ban.

The U.S. president is currently trying to get his travel ban approved, which stops citizens from six Muslim-majority countries entering America, though the Supreme Court is yet to make a decision on the contentious order, which has so far been blocked by appeals courts.

Musician Wyclef has now added his voice to the debate.

“When it comes to me and the travel ban, I always speak loud and clear in the sense of understanding personally, where I came from and understanding that this is these United States of America and it is the country of immigrants,” he told CNN.

Haiti-born Wyclef was a supporter of Trump’s rival Hillary Clinton during the 2016 American election.

He recently warned celebrities to be “very careful” when attacking Trump, urging them to be “as smart as (Jimmy) Kimmel”, after Kathy Griffin received death threats following pictures she posted online of herself holding a fake decapitated Trump head.

And talking to CNN he explained that it’s important to understand how media savvy the U.S. president is.

“Propaganda or the idea of fake news… that’s not conspiracy theory, that’s real, but at the end of the day they say that where there’s smoke there’s fire. There’s something and the curiosity is getting to what that something is,” he said before comparing Trump to Julius Caesar.

“When a Caesar understands how to play the area then he knows how to control everything. When he’s yelling execute, you’re not paying attention — you’re too busy laughing and roaring at the arena.”

Can 2 Chainz Hold His Own On A Track With Eminem?

Apparently this is what some people believe will happen if 2 Chainz and Eminem were to do a track together, with Em reigning supreme.

In the past it felt like there used to be a competitiveness where rappers challenged themselves to have if not the greatest verse, at least a great verse on a collaboration track. Nowadays it just seems like anything goes!

Drake Praises His “Stunning” NBA Awards Date

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Drake has gushed about sports analyst Rosalyn Gold-Onwude online after taking the “stunning” TV reporter as his date to the NBA Awards on Monday night (June 26).

The “Hotline Bling” hitmaker served as the host of the inaugural New York City ceremony, which celebrates the best talents in the National Basketball Association (NBA), and turned heads on the red carpet by walking arm-in-arm with Rosalyn.

Drake wore a white Tom Ford tuxedo jacket with black pants and a black bow tie for the occasion, while NBA on TNT show regular Rosalyn dressed to impress in a strapless red gown and nude heels.

The stars, both 30, were happy to cuddle up for photos at the event, and it appears Drake was still smiling the morning after the prizegiving as he took to Instagram to share a snap of the two looking cosy at the bash.

“My stunning date for the evening @rosgo21,” he captioned the red carpet picture.

It’s not known if Drake is actually dating Rosalyn, but the hip-hop star has made no secret of his admiration for the TV personality.

They previously met at a basketball match in December, 2015, when he posted a photo of the pair on social media.

“When the post game makes you forget about what happened during the actual game,” the Toronto Raptors team ambassador wrote beside the image, suggesting he was captivated by Rosalyn.

Drake, who has previously been linked on and off to R&B collaborator Rihanna, has been single since enjoying a reported fling with Jennifer Lopez in late 2016.

They are rumoured to have parted ways in February (17), weeks before the singer/actress went public with her romance with former baseball ace Alex Rodriguez.

Meanwhile, Rosalyn recently dismissed claims she was dating Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant.

Peep How BET Kept Chris Brown & Karrueche From Crossing Paths At BET Awards

(AllHipHop Rumors) As everyone knows, the BET Awards were pretty lit on and off of the stage this year.

There were a lot of artists who do NOT like each other that attended, thus causing various altercations to pop up throughout the past weekend.

Some of the folks that didn’t like each other had to even be in the same building as they all were performing or presenting at the awards show.

According to TMZ,

The BET Awards made special accommodations to keep Chris Brown and Karrueche Tran away from each other, as Karrueche has a restraining order against Chris Brown, and Brown was performing, and Tran was presenting during the awards show.

Production sources claim that Karrueche was given a heads-up by BET producers that Breezy would be performing Sunday, and when he took the stage, producers moved her to a holding room to ensure Chris never got within 100 yards of her, as required by court order.

Karrueche allegedly didn’t even bother to turn on the TV in the room to watch Chris’ performance.

Apparently when Karrueche took the stage, the network made sure to hold Brown backstage.

Although BET made all of the preventative measures to make sure things ran smoothly, that didn’t stop Chris Breezy from getting into a fight with Karrueche’s new boyfriend, Migos member Quavo at an after-party.

It’s really awkward that Meek and Safaree are still beefing. Most believe that they are beefing over their shared ex, Nicki Minaj…. who happens to not want anything to do with them.

Apparently their beef is deeper than just Nicki. Meek is allegedly still mad at all of the jabs that Safaree took at him.

According to TMZ, Meek’s crew sent a message to Meek telling Safaree to stay away from all of the festivities or he would catch the fade.

Like most people, Safaree didn’t want to miss all of the fun, and showed up to a number of spots. He didn’t seem to be too bothered by #TeamMeek’s threats.

Meek’s crew jumped Safaree at Angel Brinks & DJ Khaled’s fashion show event. Despite Safaree having on all white, he left the scene clean. They didn’t get him too bad though.

It seems like the beef is extremely personal now, making us wonder will it escalate even more the next time they are in the same place at the same time. Safaree may want to beef up his security!

Safaree has since challenged Meek to a fight, but Meek says he is too much of a boss to fight. What are your thoughts? Should they squash their beef or fight one-on-one?
