“Our love for music started as young kids, and we hope to inspire a generation of future artists, musicians and music fans through the stories we tell and the music they hear on these shows,” Trotter added.

AHH Stray News: Wiz’s New Ride, Chance The Rapper’s Party, MGK’s New Album

Rapper Wiz Khalifa has been gifted a brand new Dodge sports car to celebrate the success of his “See You Again” hit. “The Black and Yellow” hitmaker teamed up with singer Charlie Puth for the theme tune to 2015’s “Furious 7” movie, and their accompanying music video featured a slew of speedy Dodge vehicles. The promo is inching ever closer to snagging the title of most viewed music video ever on YouTube, currently held by Psy’s “Gangnam Style,” and to mark the huge feat, Dodge officials decided to surprise Wiz by presenting him with the keys to his very own 2017 Charger SRT Hellcat during an event in New York. Wiz’s new ride is reportedly decorated in black and yellow, the colors of his favorite American football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. “See You Again’s” promo currently boasts 2.61 billion views, compared to “Gangnam Styles” 2.81 billion hits. Wiz has since returned to the “Fast & Furious” street racing franchise to record a new tune for the soundtrack of the eighth film, “The Fate of the Furious.”

REVIEW: Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN Is A Return To Basic Dopeness!

(AllHipHop Review) Kendrick Lamar can’t miss. He’s had four straight critically acclaimed projects, some of which are arguably classics. After teasing an April 7th release on “The Heart Pt. 4,” the Compton rapper returned with his fourth studio album DAMN. On Good Friday.

Two years ago, Kendrick blessed hip-hop heads with his jazz-influenced third album, To Pimp A Butterfly, featuring grammy-winning singles “i” and “Alright.” A year later he dropped Untitled Unmastered, a compilation of previously unreleased material. While both projects were received well, some felt K. Dot’s message was lost in the overall musical complexity of the songs. DAMN. is a departure from that sound with a strong focus on lyricism, but was switching it up the right move for Kendrick’s career?

I’ll admit I wasn’t too excited when I saw the album cover and tracklist. I didn’t think I wanted to hear Kendrick over a Mike WiLL Made-It beat or collaborating with U2 or Rihanna, but I was dead wrong. I actually thought those were three of the album’s best songs on DAMN.

To say this album had its moments would be an understatement. I usually have no interest in at least one track per album, but I really can’t complain about anything DAMN. has to offer. Instead, I’ll pick some favorites:

“FEAR.” One of my favorite parts about Kendrick’s music is his ability to paint a picture without telling a story. He does that perfectly here, giving us a look at three versions of Kendrick (akin to Chappelle’s The Three Daves skit)  — the 7 year old, 17 year old, and 27 year old — and more specifically what he feared and where that fear took him. In the fourth verse, he opens up about his current fears: losing creativity, changing within, and not leaving an impact.

“DUCKWORTH.” This track is made for hardcore K. Dot fans, and it’s by far my favorite track on the album. Kendrick gives us some history on Anthony “Top-Dawg” Tiffith and his father, Kenny, including how the two met. A smooth 9th Wonder beat provides the perfect backdrop and the song ends with the start of “BLOOD.,” a reminder to the listener to run this album back.

* Honorable mention goes to “GOD.” for K. Dot’s ability to master any style and his ridiculously weird flow during the bridge.

As usual, the release date, album cover, track titles and lyrics have fans scrambling to decode King Kendrick’s hidden messages. Personally, I thought DAMN. was an attempt at simplicity from a rapper whose music has become increasingly complex and conceptual over time. But when you consider the Good Friday release date, the seven deadly sins references in the track titles, and the many references to religion in the lyrics, it’s clear that this is a concept album — although I’m not sure what exactly the concept is. Don’t worry, a slew of highly trained rap forum members are on the case.

But forget about all that. When you strip this album of its possible concept, the result is 13 solid tracks, both musically and lyrically, and a partial return to the straightforwardness and lyrical brevity that made him the king of Compton — all of which equate to another bullseye from K. Dot.

G Herbo Talks Sharing On Social Media & Why He Didn’t Create A SnapChat Account (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) In today’s entertainment landscape, many artists feel the need to share a lot of their personal life with the world through social media.

In a recently uploaded video interview, Chicago rhymer G Herbo spoke with DJ Smallz about his opinions on internet culture.

“I don’t take it serious,” declared Herbo about social media. “They way people see me a certain way on the internet is the way I want to be seen. People are not going to know my personal life.”

While the Strictly 4 My Fans creator is an active user of Instagram and Twitter, Herb decided not to take part in Snapchat.

“Like my man [Lil] Uzi [Vert] says, ‘It’s too personal,'” responded G Herbo on why he doesn’t have a Snapchat account. “I don’t know how to work it really… I know that’s the wave right now, but it never crossed my mind to make one, because I don’t be paying attention to that sh-t.”

REVIEW: “The Fate Of The Furious” Is An Outrageous Thrill Ride

(AllHipHop Reviews) You already know what to expect, if you have seen the Fast and the Furious series. And yet, somehow, some way, “The Fate of the Furious” manages to take the
exciting madness beyond the already insane norm.

It has too be noted: Fast and the Furious is one of the most successful movie series ever and has grossed almost $4 billion. Furthermore, it has survived and endured a number of changes and metamorphoses, most notably the tragic death of actor Paul Walker. It also must be noted that the key to the additive nature of the series is that each movie one-ups the previous. The Fate of the Furious is no different. It started off so peaceful and demure.

At the movie’s onset, Dominic (Vin Diesel) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) are happily married and on their honeymoon in Cuba when their attempt at a normal life is almost immediately thwarted. An infamous cyber terrorist named Cipher (Charlize Theron) twists Dom’s arm so badly, she makes him betray his whole crew. Even Letty is baffled at his behavior. Now, the crew must unite to bring home the man who made them a family and stop Cipher from unleashing chaos on a world scale.

Grand scale is an understatement in this one (as with most Fast And Furious flicks), so put your brain on hold and enjoy the ride of rides.

DSS agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson), hackers Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel) and Tej (Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges), goofball Roman (Tyrese Gibson), government boss Mr. Nobody (Kurt Russell) and his new jack protegee (Scott Eastwood) are challenged with the daunting task of getting Dom and destroying Cipher’s diabolical plot. There are a number of twists and turns, including the return of Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), who was the villain in the last of the Fast and The Furious movie.

Listen. “Fast & Furious 8” is a wild, ostentatious ride that won’t likely win any new fans. But, that is not the goal. The goal is to super serve the existing audience and give them all they expect from the franchise. There are There are some incredible moments, like a particularly scary scene in New York City, and then the absurdity of the crew racing a submarine in the arctic while stopping a nuclear warhead from being unleashed on the world. Sheer insanity. However, the movie is entertaining and fun and funny. On top of the fun, there are some genuinely touching, cute moments as well. No spoilers. Enjoy. Escape. Fate of the Furious entertains absolutely, without mercy.

Onward!

Nicki Minaj’s Former Manager Debra Antney Talks Nicki’s Feud With Remy Ma (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Before Nicki Minaj was a global star, the rapstress was part of a camp fronted by artist manager Debra Antney.

AllHipHop.com caught up with Antney to get her thoughts on her former client’s recent face-off with Remy Ma.

“At the end of the day, they’re both very much a part of me. They’re both women,” says Antney. “I don’t particularly care for the women beefing, fighting, and bickering. Because [in] my era, they were all around each other. Even if they fought each other, they still worked together.”

The mother of Waka Flocka goes on to add that she does not see how Nicki and Remy are in each other’s way as far as succeeding as rappers.

“I would love to see us unify with each other. I would definitely like to see women come together,” offers Antney. “I didn’t care for that [beef] at all, so it wasn’t very exciting to me.”

The Love & Hip Hop Atlanta alum also made it a point to state she will never speak badly about Nicki because of their history together.

“[Nicki and I] don’t hate each other. The little that people know – they want to seem to think we do, but we don’t,” she said. “As far as Remy goes, I don’t hate Remy. I want her to win.”

Kanye West Will Not Perform at Coachella

Kanye West, Travis Scott, A$AP Rocky, Schoolboy Q, Coachella

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West reportedly won’t be taking to the stage at this weekend’s (14-16Apr17) Coachella Festival.

Fans had speculated the Stronger rapper would make a welcome return to live music at the annual festival in California, having last graced a stage in November.

Shortly after this performance he was hospitalized at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical Center for exhaustion and sleep deprivation.

But reports have confirmed Kanye will not be playing at Coachella.

Rumors about a possible appearance at the festival, which attracts an A-list crowd every year, started because of Kanye’s involvement on hip-hop star ScHoolboy Q’s track “THat Part,” as well as his collaborations with Travis Scott.

Both performers are part of the Coachella 2017 line-up.

All might not be lost though, as Kanye surprised fans at the festival in 2016 when he jumped on stage with A$AP Rocky.

The two weekend event, which kicks off on Friday (April 14), will see acts including Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar and Radiohead play sets.

Man Uses Tupac’s Identity For Run-Ins With The Law!

(AllHipHop Rumors) We live in a crazy world man!

Extreme Tupac fans seem to always wish that the late, great rapper is still alive and will make an appearance in 2017. It seems that we were almost close when news hit that a 45-year-old man named Tupac Amaru Shakur had been arrested in LA last month.

Dang man almost doesn’t count, but here’s the real plot twist. According to TMZ, cops booked a 45-year-old man named Tupac Amaru Shakur last month. Although it’s NOT the RAPPER, dude “has” the same name and same birthday, June 16, 1971. ISSA SCAM!

According to law enforcement, the suspect’s real name is Clarence Campbell, but he uses Tupac as an alias. What’s crazy is the fact that he’s used Pac’s name on multiple arrests including battery. It looks like cops definitely got a chance to attach his real name to his arrest records though.

As far as I’m concerned, dude needs to get more time for the flat out disrespect. Y’all gotta stop thinking you are the second coming of Tupac. Troy Ave….Boosie… y’all too! Carry on!

Big Sean May Have To Come See Joe Budden!

(AllHipHop Rumors) Joe Budden is certainly one of the most opinionated rappers period, and he certainly has all of the right platforms to continuously tell folks what he’s thinking.

The fact that Big Sean believes he’s one of the greatest rappers probably will leave him feeling some kind of way about Budden’s recent comments!

Joe Budden and DJ Akademiks recently took time to discuss who the best rapper alive is on their new segment with Complex, ‘Everyday Struggles’.

“Big Sean has quality music; he’s got image. He’s got all of that sh-t down to a T. He has not built the level of trust that his peers are. The people that he’s battling with, Drake, Cole, and Kendrick..from the mixtape days every time they have come out, we trust that they will deliver quality product from front to back…Sean put out a mixtape that was absolute trash. My main point is, Sean probably has every single right to say I rap better than all three of them and he does, but we are judged on our bodies of work, and Sean has albums and mixtape in his body of work that are entirely too trash for us to be able to trust him the way we trust Drake, Cole, Kendrick,” said Budden.

Seeeeee I knew it wasn’t just me! I always said I liked Big Sean, but it’s never been a love thing. It’s almost like I like his freestyles, mixtape, cypher moments etc more than the music he puts out. It’s like some of the music is corny man.

Now folks are feeling like Big Sean has too many mediocre albums, and his raps/songs tend to be too corny to be mentioned as one of the greatest rappers of today’s generation. It’s like Sean has lyrics on certain tracks, but people aren’t quick to put him in the J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar categories.

What are your thoughts? Does Joe Budden have a point?

Wendy Williams Accuses Tyrese Of Being Gay!

(AllHipHop Rumors) Tyrese hasn’t been much of a fan-favorite lately, especially among women!

The R&B crooner and actor always gets himself in trouble with the controversial statements he makes. Black women aren’t too fond of Tyrese either especially with his comments about weave and fake enhancements.

Black women also dogged him and his new wife out when he posted about their secret marriage, referring to her as his “Black Queen” on Instagram. People didn’t feel that she was “black enough” because of her appearance. That argument was crazy in itself though.

Ty was sure to let people know that his new wife has her Masters and is 46% black. Anyway, fast forward to today. Wendy Williams always gives her controversial opinion also, but this time she really took it there when she accused him of being gay.

Some believe that Wendy may be on to something, while others believe Tyrese just likes to project his insecurities and delusions onto everyone else.

Here’s what got Wendy riled up. Tyrese posted and deleted some comments about women that some felt were misogynistic.

“It’s hoes, tramps, and overly aggressive promiscuous women they’re never without a man because they don’t have no standards. They’re ready to have sex with any and everything that’s ready to have sex with them. And you got women who are out here active in these streets. They going to lunches and dinners every night. Private planes, mega yachts, it’s cracking. They are never without. However it comes with a cost, you gonna put a lot of miles on yourself down there,” said Tyrese.

Wendy Williams clapped back saying,

“Tyrese you never say anything bad about men; you’re always talking bad about women. Never anything bad about men…He likes men.”

When I say I can’t wait to hear Tyrese’s clap back. LOL. You know you usually can’t make claims about a man’s sexually without him going off! What are your thoughts? Did Tyrese lie though?

(AllHipHop News) Jay Pharoah visited Hot 97 this week, and the comedian – and part-time rapper –  talked about his exit as a cast member on Saturday Night Live.

“If you have multiple people on the cast saying things like, ‘You’re so talented, you’re able, they don’t use you and it’s unfair and it’s making us feel bad because they don’t use you,'” said Pharoah.

He continued, “They put people into boxes. Whatever they want you to do, they expect you to do. I’m fiery too… I’m not a yes n-gga. That’s not me.”

Pharoah then spoke about being asked to wear a dress for a skit on the show.

“I’m not putting on a dress. I’m not getting no tweets from David Banner. He was like, ‘Yo man, don’t put on no dress.’ I was like, ‘alright, cool, I got you David.’ I ain’t never do it,” stated the Virginia native.

According to Pharoah, he was nearly fired in 2013 after pushing for more diversity on SNL.

“A lot of people are scared of [show creator] Lorne [Michaels],” Pharoah claimed. “I respect the hell out of him, but if I want to talk to you, I’ll go up to you, ‘Hey man, this is what I’m feeling. What’s going on?'”

Jay Pharoah is scheduled to perform at Carolines On Broadway in New York City on April 14 and April 15.

Troy Ave Suggests Taxstone Is A Snitch & A Fraud

(AllHipHop News) The 2016 deadly shooting at New York City’s Irving Plaza led to the separate arrests of Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave and podcast host Taxstone.

According to Bossip, Taxstone’s lawyer is seeking to get his client out of jail on bail by questioning why Troy Ave was granted bail despite what he sees as having more serious charges.

Attorney Ken Montgomery also argued Troy Ave and his entourage were implicated in another club shooting days prior to the Irving Plaza incident.

Troy addressed Taxstone’s latest legal maneuver in a now-deleted Instagram post featuring the Bossip article.

The IG message included the self-described “NuPac” suggesting Tax is a rat and a fraud.

Besides the judicial troubles associated with this case, Troy was also shot during the melee backstage at the T.I. headlining concert on May 25, 2016.

Troy’s friend and bodyguard Ronald “Banga” McPhatter was killed, and other bystanders were injured during the gunfight as well.

Is Kendrick Lamar Dropping Another Project This Weekend?

(AllHipHop Rumors) As if Kendrick Lamar didn’t JUST give us a great album with ‘Damn’, it looks like he may have more new music to drop in the same week!

K. Dot has had us all talking since he surprised fans with “The Heart Part 4”, and now folks have been speculating that the Compton rapper may be dropping another album called ‘Nation’ this weekend.

One thing’s for sure is he said his focus and goal with subject matter is to talk more about God during these runs as he explained last month to New York Style Magazine that he wanted to speak more about the major component of life: GOD!

“We’re in a time where we exclude one major component out of this whole thing called life: God. Nobody speaks on it because it’s almost in conflict with what’s going on in the world when you talk about politics and government and the system,” said Kendrick.

As y’all know, the stans sometimes wild out, so one in particular, @LuxaryStyles, took time to put together an investigative report on Kendrick’s alleged forthcoming album, and it’s….well it’s over the top. LOL.

The fan explores the fact that Kendrick warned us that he would be dropping two classics back to back. He also discusses the fact that Kendrick’s ‘Damn’ dropped on Good Friday, and ‘Nation’ may be released on Sunday, as Kendrick dies on ‘Damn’ and Jesus was resurrected on Easter Sunday. Hmmmmm it’s a bit much, but we’ll see on Sunday. LOL. You can check out the rest of his claims below.

It also didn’t help that TDE’s Soundwave tweeted suggesting that another version of the project could be coming.

“But what if I told you that’s not the official version,” tweeted TDE’s Soumwave.
