(AllHipHop News) A Tribe Called Quest is still celebrating the release of their #1 album We Got It from Here… Thank You 4 Your Service.
As the Hip Hop group’s final LP continues to receive critical acclaim, remaining members and guests sat down with Elliott Wilson for an episode of the CRWN interview series.
The conversation included Q-Tip, Jarobi White, Busta Rhymes, and Consequence discussing the new album, the crew’s bond, and their memories of late founding member Phife Dawg.
“I put the pen to the pad and it feels like I am channeling something. Phife was setting me up, I am really fortunate,” said Jarobi.
Q-Tip added, “The thing that inspired it was we performed on Jimmy Fallon for the 25th anniversary of the first album. We immediately felt that energy. Jarobi and I were heading to the site, and I was like we need to do an EP.”
Tidal members can watch the ATCQ CRWN episode in its entirety here.
Non-members can watch a three-minute preview below.
To celebrate this year’s Record Store Day, Coalmine Records is pleased to release a special-edition 7-inch version of Heltah Skeltah’s previously digital-only slapper, “Midnight Madness,” featuring DJ Revolution.
As fans of the duo already know, the circa-2009 track is pure flames, and brimming with hilarious bad-guy lyricism from Ruck (aka the late Sean Price), and his partner in rhyme, Rock.
The two absolutely let loose over Shuko’s funky instrumental, as Ruck drops concrete flows while Rock communicates with animals.
And that’s just the A-Side. On the B-Side, you’ll find the haunting remix produced by the Grammy-winning, M-Phazes.
Fans of his work may recognize this joint from Coalmine’s 2012 remix compilation, “Phazed Out.”
The record itself will be sold in a plain 45 sleeve, but the donut contains the work of acclaimed designer, Joe Buck, who embraced the 1980 released cult movie of the same title, which also serves as the track’s theme.
On each side, you’ll find references and illustrations central to both the film, and the track, from the sketch of Leon the Game Master on Side-A, to M-Phazes ‘Good Gracious’ tagline on Side-B.
(AllHipHop Rumors) One person who’s certainly NOT here for Kanye West is Hot 97’s Ebro!
Although Ebro says he will never fix his lips to say he’s not a fan of Kanye West as an artist, he does believe Kanye is out of his mind currently.
Following a series of rants and cancelled tours by Kanye, Ebro took a moment out to call Kanye out for being a user that only hits people up when he needs something from them.
He went on to call Kanye a hypocrite for complaining about the politics behind the scenes of music when he himself is just as bad, and is a part of the problem.
Ebro says Ye wouldn’t come to Hot 97, but he went to all of the iHeart media stations begging them to play his records. He also says Kanye can’t say f-ck radio when he calls Ebro every time he drops a project asking for radio support.
Ebro basically believes Yeezy is completely out of touch with reality.
How do you feel about Kanye’s recent rants. I believe the man needs help. mental health and its associated issues are very REAL!
(AllHipHop Rumors) You have to love today’s petty social media world and how brands have even jumped in the social media “beef” and “shade” with each other.
Verizon what’s good!
Verizon thought they had one up on T-Mobile after a Twitter user shared a pic Nicki Minaj allegedly uploaded showing her using Verizon.
This was every bit of “scandalous” as Minaj has been getting fat checks from T-Mobile, and has clearly starred in their commercials.
Nicki Minaj has shown plenty of times that she’s about that life and will check a person in a minute, especially the way she checked Miley Cyrus at the 2015 VMAs.
Verizon clearly didn’t care, but they can sure “hear her now” as she clapped back at them on Twitter. Nicki tweeted,
“Ummm congratulations @Verizon u played yaself. It’s a screen shot from my camera man’s phone. @TMobile for life. ? #UnlimitedData ??? – ✅dat”
We aren’t even mad at Verizon. We all have our inner petty, and heck Nicki could be lying so…..
Desha Head Taylor has revealed there’s enough unreleased material for a final solo album.
“His solo album will be out probably sometime during the first quarter of 2017,” she says. “We’re working on it now. He completed his entire solo album before he transitioned, so we’re excited about releasing that.”
Phife Dawg, real name Malik Taylor, died in March, from diabetes complications.
Desha admits her late husband really enjoyed his final months in the recording studio, adding, “There were times where he was working on the album where he would send me video footage of him rhyming over some of the beats… He would make a certain face when hearing the beat, he would make this frown like, ‘I’m feeling this’, and you would hear his verses in the back. He was really excited about this project.”
(AllHipHopRumors) 50 Cent surely hates his [first] baby mama man!
It probably isn’t a good idea to interview 50’s baby mama, Shaniqua Tompkins, right now, especially not about anything 50 related.
50 Cent may send his goons after you, or you may be “mysteriously” harmed for doing so.
Interestingly enough, in 50 Cent’s famous #PostAndDelete files, 50 posted an Instagram post that said he had never met a guy named Courtney “Mafi” Johnson, and he had nothing to do with the guy getting attacked.
50 said he had nothing to do with Johnson “getting a buck 50 in his face.”
He then warned Johnson and his media employer about getting into what he would describe as “gangsta sh-t” for setting up an interview with Tompkins.
50 claimed that the guy had been seriously injured after doing so.
“Now the poor guy has to staple his face together. get well soon. Should have seen that sh-t coming,” 50 said.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mafi claims he hasn’t been harmed, but he has now decided to take the necessary precautions to try to ensure that he won’t be. Mafi even went as far as to file an incident report in Wisconsin, and is meeting with lawyers as we speak.
I’m sure Mafi probably didn’t even think it was that serious. Tompkins has done several interviews. However, yall know 50 Cent is crazy LOL!
(AllHipHop Rumors) Although there are mixed reactions over Kanye West being hospitalized, some are actually feeling sympathetic for Ye thinking he may be the latest vicitim of the Kardashian curse.
Although the men married to or who are involved with the Kardashians actually had MAJOR PROBLEMS before they linked with the famous family, some refuse to acknowledge it, or others enjoy poking fun at the tragic lineups of demise. I mean we now have alcoholics, drug addicts, jerks, depression, a transgender woman, a broke rapper mannnnn.
Apparently the Kardashian curse has hit Kanye, and Yeezy Yeezy seems to have been most troubled since he became a Kardashian.
Let’s go down the list:
Khloe Kardashian: Lamar Odom’s battle with crack and alcohol.
Kourtney Kardashian: Scott Disick being a raging drunk battling with alcohol.
Kylie Jenner: Tyga’s broke financial woes.
Kris Jenner: Bruce Jenner turned into a woman.
Kim Kardashian: now Kanye is a dehydrated, spiritually beaten, exhausted saint.
That family even made Rob Kardashain depressed enough to gain all of that weight, go into hiding, come out and impregnate Blac Chyna.
Now like we said these men had most of these problems before they got with the Kardashians, but when you add them all up it makes you want to give them the side eye right? Hell maybe this family is just as f’d up as the rest of us. LOL.

(AllHipHop News) Some people were taken back a bit when reports circulated that Kanye West’s doctor gave the name “Jim Jones” when he requested medical help for his patient.
Was Dr. Michael Farzam referring to “Jim Jones” the cult leader? Or “Jim Jones” the Harlem rapper?
The rhymer responded to the news his name was thrown into the Ye saga.
“I think it’s the best catfish ever,” said Jones. “I don’t know what’s on Kanye’s mind, but he using my name is definitely a funny thing to me.”
The “We Fly High” performer did add he felt it was “kinda f-cked up” that the G.O.O.D. Music leader used his name.
“I should charge Kanye a sucker fee,” declared Jim Jones before laughing.
(AllHipHop News) United States Hip-Hop star Swizz Beatz has been linked to the 1MDB scandal that is rocking Singapore and could unseat Singapore’s current Prime Minister Najib Razak, who is accused of massive corruption.
Investigators with the Singapore Commercial Affairs Department are pursuing charges against Prime Minister Najib Razak, who is accused of looting of state funds.
“Sarawak Report cordially invites the well-heeled Mr Swizz Beatz to repay this stolen development money, taken from the mouths and education of poor Malaysian kids, back in some form where it will not be re-appropriated by the present Prime Minister,” the website wrote in an investigative piece released today (November 23).
Jho Low is a well-connected financier who liked to party in Hollywood. He’s said to be a close associate of Prime Minister Razak’s step-son, Riza Aziz, a leading producer in Hollywood.
The Sarawak report says Jho Low’s birthday party was paid for with stolen from 1MDB’s $1.4 billion dollar “Power Purchase loan,” which was raised for the country in conjunction with Goldman Sachs.
The party was so lavish, even “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” host Robin Leach covered the event, and was amazed at Jho Low’s display of wealth.
It was nonstop, unlimited drinks poured by an attractive army of 250 glamour girls dressed in revealing, short, tight red outfits. There also was a super squadron of Cirque du Soleil-type entertainers on stilts, masked curvy creatures, revelers in lit-up costumes and bizarre outfits, and lacy lingerie-wearing ladies swinging on hoops suspended over the two screened, offside walls where the dancers kept the electricity sparking. A troupe of mini-people even added to the fun.”
The Sarawak report even accuses Swizz Beatz and his wife Alicia Keys of helping to squander the state’s money for Jho Low through Alicia Keys’ “Black Ball,” which was recently held in New York and a series of other political events in Singapore, including some paid for by another man linked to illegally spending money from the same fund, named Khadem Al Qubaisi.
The Sarwak report claims Swizz Beatz blocked them from Twitter, after they Tweeted him a series of messages and warnings about Jho Low, and where his funds were coming from.
“The Malaysian taxpayer picked up the tab for this party, thanks to a massive fraud perpetrated by their own Prime Minister. and we suggest that it is time for all those stars to dig into their bank accounts and pay back the money.

(AllHipHop Features) Cardi B is one of the most brash, beloved figures on television, in a time when people are losing interest in traditional TV. Then again, there is very little that is traditional about the 24-year old star of Love And Hip-Hop: New York. The Bronx native has been able to navigate the treachery associated with reality TV as well as the rigors of social media. In this interview, Cardi B talks about Hip-Hop, Ratchet as an emotion, who she loves in Rap, and brings along her dentist Dr. Catrise Austin to discuss her remarkable transformation.
AllHipHop: We are all here in your world. Just saw the premier where you get your teeth fixed. On the social media side of things, that was a while ago. How do you feel about what you just saw?
Cardi B: I feel good, you know. I already knew what was gonna happen. I was there that day. (laughs) I real glad that it was Dr. Catrise (doing the dental work). She’s one of us. She’s one of our people. She practically changed my life.
How did you come to the conclusion that you should get your teeth fixed?
It was just something that people kept talking about. And I knew that I was going to do more things on TV. Like I have a lot more projects coming out. I didn’t want my teeth distracting people from my talents. So, I was like “f**k it.” Let me get my teeth fixed. People are like really…can’t talk sh*t now. They can’t…nothing.
Was it hurtful for you? I know social media is like a mob mentality, a lot of bullying going on.
It kinda do hurt me. It kinda do bother me, because I’m a woman. And you know, us women…as much as we’ll be like “I don’t give a fk,” we really do give a fk. Especially when it comes to how we look. Its a little painful. Sometimes, I see btches and they my opposition on TV…like the btch from today (on Love And Hip-Hop), and I don’t like her. But, I wouldn’t want people bullying her, because it hurts. I know how that s**t goes.
Lets talk about your music career a little bit. I was talking to my good friend today and I was like “Cardi B got some joints!” How did you get into the Hip-Hop world. Was that something you always wanted to do or is that just new to you?
It was something that I always wanted to do. I just never did it, because I didn’t have the funds for it. I never really had a manager. I never really had the time. When you grow up and sht, you realize you gotta pay bills and you gotta put your money in somewhere else. And rent and sht. Its like you give up on your dreams. And then, as I got a manager, he’s like “Yo! You always remixing sh*t. You actually pretty good like why don’t we get to it.” And I was like “Aiight.” And is actually better than I ever thought it would be.
Are you going for Nicki Minaj’s slot, that No. 1 spot? I mean, not even females, I mean in general.
I’m trying to be be the best at whatever it is I can be. I’m trying to make money – a lot of money – and I’m trying to be respected. Like I’m a very funny person and I know that my character can overshadow a lot of things, but that’s why I go so hard on my music. I want people to be like, “She’s funny. She plays around, but..her music is nothing to play with.” And that’s what I want. Respect. Money and Respect.
How much of that that we see on TV is really you? Here you’re pretty, cute and even quiet.
It really depends. When I am with my friends that can be me. When you are in a public place, you are gonna act a certain way. Being ratchet – it should be like an emotion. You turn it on and off. If its always on, then its bad. If its always off, then its back. You have to be balanced.
What do you have coming up next?
I actually have my mixtape coming up in December. Its called “Gangsta Btch Music Volume 2.” From that, the push is gonna be way more different than the first one. I’m very private. I don’t like to put things out. I like to surprise people. I love when I see my comments when people underestimate me. I love that. If people hype me up all the time, I’ma get too comfortable. So, I like when people say, “Oh, you ain’t sht. Ya 15 minutes of fame are gonna be up” – this and that. That makes me be like, “I gotta surprise for you.” (smiles)
Who do you want to work with?
I would like to work with anybody thats great I would like to work with big artists. I’m not going to name them, just in case they curve me. I don’t want to be like “I should have never shouted out that b*tch or that n***a out.” And anybody that is very unknown, I would like to work with as well – as long as they are great. A lot of people don’t know that my producer is an artist – Swift on Demand and I like working with him. If I can elevate him, that would be great. I like to work with people that’s talented, that work hard to get put on. Its a certain type of way and certain time of things you gotta do to get put on.
Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur’s conversation with Cardi B continues with dentist to the stars Dr. Catrise Austin. Check out the whole interview in the video above.
This song features Dej dropping an insightful verse about being harassed by cops and being displeased by today’s rappers and feeling insecure in today’s society.
Kanye lost about $30 million when he canceled the rest of his Saint Pablo tour.
Then he was supposedly taken to a hospital for a “psychiatric evaluation” from “exhaustion.”
But Kanye is said to have an insurance policy that covers “accident or illness … prevents any Insured Person from appearing or continuing to appear in any or all of the Insured Performance(s) or Event(s).”
That would mean Yeezy not only would get his $30 million, but he would also be off the hook for any other contract obligations connected to the shows.
That’s unless Kanye had a preexisting condition he didn’t tell the insurance company about.
