Havoc, the other half of the group, performed a medley of Prodigy and Mobb Deep classics too. It was a somber affair that included Ice-T, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah and others from the Hip-Hop community.

Nicki Minaj And Meek Mill Trade Shade On IG

(AllHipHop Rumors) Instagram is a cesspool of sh!tty content. But here we are. Jay-Z’s new album has had a ripple affect and the wave has Meek and Nicki fighting again.

Nicki made a post that said the following:

Oh so u n##### gon sit up here & act like #Wifey aint BEEN tell y’all 1. Don’t lose the baddest girl in the world. #EricBenet 2. Stop throwing money ya ass ain’t rlly got. 3. Well, of course Meek was ready and available for the trolling. He fired back with this post.

He eventually deleted the post. Ahhhh, so much for savagery. Ain’t these people all over 30 though? Damn. I guess we just gonna continue like we teenagers until we 40 or 50? Who am I to judge? I just wrote about it. Let me get a drink.

Common To Mentor Young Directors In New Film Program

(AllHipHop News) Oscar winners Octavia Spencer and rapper/actor Common have signed on to help mentor aspiring young directors as part of a new short film program.

Moviemaker Rick Famuyiwa and his “Dope” producer Nina Yang Bongiovi, and actress/director Desiree Akhavan are also part of the panel of experts for the AT&T Hello Lab initiative, which aims to help five talented youngsters fund and develop their projects.

Each of the stars will provide advice and guidance to the fledgling filmmakers about directing, pitching their projects, and managing their budgets, while a group of professionals from various business aspects of the industry will also be on hand to offer support, reports Variety.com.

“What I love about this program is that it’s tactical,” Spencer declares in a statement. “It’s enabling young filmmakers to make actual, physical work. It’s giving them the first crucial part of their reel.”

The five finished films will be broadcast via U.S. cable provider DirecTV later this year.

Kanye Tries To Leave Tidal Over Royalty Dispute With Jay-Z

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West’s relationship with Jay-Z has been strained over money issues, according to reports.

According to TMZ.com, Kanye has split from Jay’s Tidal streaming music service, because of a dispute over royalties.

Kanye is attempting to chase down over $3 million in back earnings from Tidal, and took a hard stance over the matter, when he severed his contract with the company earlier this week.

In addition to royalties, Kanye was supposed to get a bonus since his The Life of Pablo album helped Tidal snag over 1 million subscribers.

Lawyers for Tidal aren
not backing down so easy either.

They are threatening to sue Kanye if he tries to sign another streaming music company.

Diddy Still Struggling With B.I.G.’s Death

(AllHipHop News) The Notorious B.I.G’s death still weighs heavily on his mentor Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

The “Juicy” hitmaker was shot and killed in 1997 and Diddy was with the rapper, real name Christopher Wallace, the night he was murdered.

Twenty years later, he reveals it has been difficult to move past the tragic event.

“That’s something that’s life-changing,” he tells People magazine. “It’s a real heavy weight to wear on yourself.”

“You get guilt when you lose a friend,” he adds. “It could’ve been you. You have to deal with that. It’s a heavy thing.”

Last month, the 47-year-old took to the stage with Wallace’s son, Christopher Jordan, at the Billboard Music Awards to pay tribute to the late rapper and the performance helped him move past the tragedy.

“His son is grown up, mature, classy (and) just a great person,” he continues. “To see that we had a loss but it all worked out, it took some of the stress (away). I was able to pass the legacy to him and now he can carry it on.”

Christopher, also known as CJ Wallace, has previously spoken about his desire to follow in his late father’s footsteps.

“At a young age I always knew I wanted to do music, it was inevitable,” he told London’s Evening Standard. “My family have always had my back, whatever I’ve wanted to do, they’ve supported. They were always giving me advice on what to do and how to go about things.”

Wallace was raised by his singer mother Faith Evans and record company executive Todd Russaw, who she divorced in 2011.

Drake Looking At Jay-Z For Lyrical Hints?

(AllHipHop Rumors) Drake and Jay-Z are like frenemies, right? They were doing all these songs together once upon a time. And then things got competitive. So, over time, there have been a number of punches and jab and straight shots too. Its not a battle or anything like that. Nevertheless, they are racing towards…something. Not sure what. ANYWAY.

Seems like Drake was hanging out at a Japanese restaurant in Baltimore and decided it was time to hear Jay-Z’s album. Well, that is exactly what they did as they dined. The word is, 6god started to request the god MC’s album at 11:55pm. You know it dropped at midnight so it must have been on his brain. Seems like the restaurant broke protocol because they have a DJ. Nevertheless, Drake wants to hear Jay…Drake hears Jay. They listened to the whole album.

Havoc Performs Mobb Deep Classics For First Time Since Prodigy’s Death

(AllHipHop News) Prodigy of Mobb Deep will be missed and that was evident at Havoc’s performance at the Art of Rap festival outing in Newark, NJ.

The show at NJPAC was the first performance of the Infamous Crew since the death of Prodigy. The somber event reinforced the love fans had for Prodigy and the group.

Havoc, Infamous Mobb, Rapper Noyd, Ice-T performed Mobb Deep hits and Prodigy solo songs. Havoc seemed extremely saddened and labored through the show with help from his friends.

At the end of the last song, “Shook Ones II,” Prodigy’s wife KiKi spoke and revealed the rapper’s wishes too.

“Be sure to love each other. No more drama. He loved y’all. Keep his legacy alive,” she said in the midst of cheers and adulation for Prodigy. After a long pause, she continued: “He wants everybody to know, there’s power in the people. Fck jewelry. Fck rims. Spend on your protection. Knowledge is first. Peace and blessings.”

Throughout the evening, Mysonne, Nicki D, Ras Kass, Raekwon, Ghostface, Ice-T, DMX and others paid their respects to Prodigy.

Albert “Prodigy” Johnson died on June 20, 2017 in Las Vegas, apparently from complications with sickle cell. He has lived with the disease for his entire life.

Jay-Z’s “4:44”: A Woman’s Perspective

Beyonce Jay Z Love GIF - Romance Love Beyonce GIFs(AllHipHop Editorial) Black culture and more specifically Black men needed 4:44 more than Hip Hop. The amount of self-inflection, introspection and wisdom is unparalleled and damn near biblical in the larger context of defining what it means to be Black in America. It requires a significant amount of love, emotional intelligence, and humility to rise above ego and self-limiting behaviors and 4:44 represents the type of transcendence necessary to do so.

Far too often we praise artists, but let them off the hook when it comes to truly letting us into their lives and the experiences that make them human and relatable. You know… things beyond the veil and filters of social media, humble beginnings and the circumstances of life money nor fame can defeat, the uncertainty of the promise of tomorrow, the insecurities and fear it invites.

ALSO READ: REVIEW: Jay-Z’s “4:44” Is Another Massive Victory For The G.O.A.T.

The artists of yesterday were gifted in their vulnerability to allow their music to reflect and mirror image life: its beauty and b#########, its unfairness and biases, even down to its deprivation and assault on the spirit. From Marvin, to Marley to Nina there was a certain melancholy that spoke to the spirits of all who listened because it was authentic and culturally relevant. Despite their rise to fame and critical acclaim, they felt their Blackness and the societal consequences of it deep within their souls and it was ever present in their music along with a consciousness of responsibility and messages of strength and survival.

As a result, we were gifted with musings of self-introspection that created timeless music and pieces that transcend both time and space.

4:44 is the first time an entire Hip Hop album put me in this same headspace. It’s about the death of ego, growth, love, and rebirth and this is the essence of life: the full circle experience and our ultimate soul purpose, transcendence. Jay-Z is a total artist and although there was a part of me that wished he’d retire and enjoy life on other planes, I cannot deny his brilliance. Even if he made this album to lay it all on the line and redeem himself personally he gave our men and reciprocally us women so much more with this at a time when we need it most.

The theme of self-love is ever present and his struggle to unconditionally love himself and reciprocate to others, namely women and more specifically his wife. As a woman of color, I listened and subconsciously heard the regret of many men as Jay put it all on the line. In his admission, I felt reconciliation with black men who unapologetically chiseled away pieces of me. In the same vein, a feeling of happiness overcame me because of his maturity and responsibility in imparting wisdom on the culture that limits the mechanics of machoism and misogyny and instead presents man-to-man emotional intimacy Black men rarely see. This was one of the deepest reveals and gems of my listening experience.

A common journey of the Black experience resonates within the lyrics. The lack of proper family structure and have-nots, the lessons unlearned that men should ideally learn from their fathers, the lingering effects of learning how to be a man in the streets and the unlearning of fear, pain, and the past via love and relationships. The idea that where we come from often follows us wherever we go, no matter how high, can create a spirit of self-doubt and ego that affects our most prized relationships and become a cycle until we begin to lose the things we value most and more importantly ourselves.

4:44 is the ultimate manifesto of love. Jay’s love of self, love of family, love of life and culture. It is his gift to us and motivation for our men to be okay with softening their hearts and opening their spirits to growth irrespective of where they come from and the fear of where it may take them. It is through Jay’s journey that we bear witness to the power of love and what happens when a man allows it to guide him to learn and unlearn the things his father never taught him and uses it to illuminate the world.

Did Fabolous Hint At A Halloween Release For Joint Mixtape ‘Freddy Vs Jason’ With Jadakiss?

(AllHipHop Rumors) Fans have been patiently waiting for the collaborative project ‘Freddy Vs. Jason’ from Jadakiss and Fabolous.

Fabolous finally gave us a little bit of insight on when we can expect the project to drop!

Billboard recently caught up with Fab at the NBA Awards where he admitted,

“We’re just working really, man. We’re not rushing the process, for one. I didn’t really think it was a summer project, though. After we got passed winter, I was like, This is not a summer project. This is one of those grime projects and we’re looking towards the fall again.”

Fab went on to say,

“Also, Halloween is coming around. That would be a cool little twist, too, but there’s no rush to it. We’re just taking our time and I think it’s something that people are going to take advantage of no matter when it comes. Of course, you don’t want to wait forever for it. We don’t want to Detox the situation, but we definitely don’t want to rush it and people be like, ‘Ugh. This is what you guys did after all that time. We’re gonna handle it though.”

A Halloween release would be dope! Are you ready for the release?!

Eric Benet Claps Back At Jay-Z’s ‘4:44’ Halle Berry Cheating Reference

(AllHipHop Rumors) Eric Benet said put some respeck on his name!

Jay-Z name dropped a number of people and took shots at several on his new long-awaited album, ‘4:44’.

The R&B singer took a moment to clap back at Jay Z on Twitter, after Jay dropped his name in his new track “Kill Jay Z” while he seemingly confessed to cheating on his wife Beyonce.

“You almost went Eric Benét / Let the baddest girl in the world get away / I don’t even know what else to say / N-gga, never go Eric Benét,” Jay-Z rapped.

“Hey yo #Jayz! Just so ya know, I got the baddest girl in the world as my wife….like right now! ✌?,” Benet tweeted.

Benet cheated on then-wife Halle Berry back in the early 2000s. Benet openly admitted to having slept with over 10 women while married to Berry. He even checked himself into a 35-day sex-addict rehab program. They ended up getting a divorce in 2005.

Dang Jay! What a reference.

Nicki Minaj Gets Blasted By Her Plastic Surgeon’s Daughter!

(AllHipHop Rumors) People are still turning their backs on Nicki Minaj, and folks are wasting no time at continuing to blast her.

Nicki has been at the receiving end of criticism over the years for her choices of plastic surgery alterations.

A blind man could see that Nicki has some fake ASSets with her azz and breasts.

Dr. Miami has already sent shots Nicki’s way after Nicki felt like he was insinuating that she got work done at his office.

It looks like someone else decided to take shots at Nicki about her alleged “work”.

Someone who claims to be the daughter of Nicki Minaj’s surgeon took time out to put her on blast.

“U have permanent scars possibly permanent implants that can no longer be reversed and even health issues bcus of it. My dad is ur doc. He told me ur in constant pain medications Bcus u had a butt infection recently & back problems due to breast implants. Said one time not long ago u had ur stomach pumped from pain in my stomach issues u were having which were early stages of an overdose. Also said u had permanent rockhard areas in ur butt due to injecting silicone over butt implants. Said u had to get blood drained out of ur butt bcus of an infection u got due to a implant in ur body that ruptured. He said sometimes u don’t accept and refuse urgent blood tests bcus u know ull test positive for cocaine,” said @LittoThot.

This person may not really be Nicki’s surgeon’s daughter because I refuse to believe that the individual would be this dumb to put her father’s career at jeopardy. Medical files and details are supposed to remain confidential.

I know Meek is somewhere probably laughing like he told us about Nicki’s azz allegedly dropping. Carry on.

Is Kendrick Lamar’s Fiancee Pregnant?

(AllHipHop Rumors) It’s been a pretty amazing year for Kendrick Lamar, and it looks like the year is getting even better for K. Dot.

His ‘Damn’ album sold over 603K copies the first week, and now word on the curb has it that Kendrick’s fiancee, Whitney Alford, is pregnant!

Apparently Whitney has been spotted wearing baggy and [more] comfortable clothing.

It seems like K. Dot revealed in some of his music that the couple may be expecting soon also.

Kendrick is so low-key that they may have already gotten married, and we just don’t know it yet.

Well if this is true, congrats to the couple on their new forthcoming bundle of joy.

REVIEW: Jay-Z’s “4:44” Is Another Massive Victory For The G.O.A.T.

(AllHipHop Reviews) Jay-Z has released his 13th album, 4:44, and it could be his most potent work in a long time. For quite some time, Hip-Hop has been in a perpetual state of Civil War, with no law or order. In mere hours, Jay-Z’s latest has already reined in the chaos causing the internet to ooze all over the album with their unadulterated affection for the Brooklyn King. It is well deserved and well-earned.

4:44 clocks in under 40 minutes, but it is a dense, superlative piece of art. The album was produced exclusively by veteran producer NO I.D., known for his longtime work with Common. The Chicagoan provides an immaculate pallet for Jay-Z to paint over and together they effortlessly craft a masterpiece. This is an easy claim in this era of instant classics, hype beasts, mass marketed subpar music and social media critics. But, the 10 tracks of 4:44 hold up like a moat, sharp shooters and brutes protecting a king’s castle.

One thing to consider before starting…this album is a lot to take in. Even though it’s short, it requires several listens to digest the weighty content, the depth of lyricism, musicianship and even the plethora of shade that forms over various entities like Rev. Al Sharpton, Bill Cosby, Prince’s Estate, Jimmy Iovine, Jay-Z himself and many others. These will feed the blogs, social media and others.

“Kill Jay-Z” is like a gut punch, where the self-proclaimed god MC speaks metaphorically about the death of his ego and former self. The theme is one that Jay-Z has rapped about repeatedly through more recent years. Still, there is plenty of collateral damage. The verbal uppercuts were so hard, Eric Benet started trending for all the wrong reasons. Still, “little brother” Kanye West catches the hardest blows:

“You walkin’ around like you invincible
You dropped outta school, you lost your principles
I know people backstab you, I felt bad too
But this ‘f—k everybody’ attitude ain’t natural
But you ain’t a Saint, this ain’t KumbaYe
But you got hurt because you did cool by ‘Ye
You gave him 20 million without blinkin’
He gave you 20 minutes on stage, f—k was he thinkin’?
“F—k wrong with everybody?” is what you sayin’
But if everybody’s crazy, you’re the one that’s in sane

Ouch.

Like “Kill Jay-Z,” “Bam” and “Moonlight” bang. Both Reggae-tinged, Jay defecates on rappers that perpetrate frauds on the social media. “I don’t be on the ‘Gram goin’ ham / Givin’ information to the pork, that’s all spam / Please don’t talk about guns / That you ain’t never gon’ use / Y’all always tell on y’all self / I’m just so f-ckin’ confused,” he says. You can almost feel the head shaking back and forth in disapproval.

4:44 has a general theme of empowerment, blackness and even financial literacy. Hell, accountability.  In some parts, it’s like a Hip-Hop version of Robert Kiyosaki’s classic book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad.” “The Story of OJ” definitely pushes Orenthal James Simpson’s wig back metaphorical, but Jay serves up some thoughts on his own financial foibles. “Wish I could take it back to the beginnin’ / I coulda bought a place in Dumbo before it was Dumbo / For like 2 million / That same building today is worth 25 million / Guess how I’m feelin’? Dumbo,” he raps. On other songs, he stands up for Prince, the Purple King that died last year. Jay-Z’s Tidal had an exclusive business-to-business relationship with Prince as the sole streaming service that would distribute his music. After he died, all of that changed. Jay says:

I sat down with Prince, eye to eye
He told me his wishes before he died
Now, Londell McMillan (Prince’s lawyer), he must be color blind
They only see green from them purple eyes
They eyes hide, they eyes high
My eyes wide shut to all the lies
These industry n#####, they always been fishy
But ain’t no Biggie, no lazy eye, huh
This guy had ‘Slave’ on his face
You think he wanted the masters with his masters?
You greedy bastards sold tickets to walk through his house
I’m surprised you ain’t auction off the casket

Jay-Z saves his most poignant moment around his sense of family and home. For me, “4:44” is the most powerful song on the album and there is a reason it is centrally located on the album. The song apparently is a response to Beyonce’s “Lemonade” and a big ole apology to his better half. You have to love how Jay and Bey’s honesty and vulnerability turn into capital gains in a social media-driven world. However, “4:44” represents Jigga at his best and his finest emo-material since The Blueprint.

I’ve seen the innocence leave your eyes
I still mourn this death, I apologize for all the stillborns
‘Cause I wasn’t present, your body wouldn’t accept it
I apologize to all the women whom I
Toyed with you emotions because I was emotionless
I apologize ’cause at your best you are love
And because I fall short of what I say I’m all about

The man that wrote “Song Cry” finally cried and, with that Hannah Williams sample wailing, you might too.

On the other “side” of the album is Track 6 “Family Feud,” where Jay-Z addresses the Civil War that consistently has kept Hip-Hop fragmented. Of course, the elder statesman takes time to put the youngsters in their place with some well-thought out barbs. But the real takeaways are cemented in Hip-Hop Unity. “We all lose when the family feuds What’s better than one billionaire? Two. / I’ll be damned if I drink some Belvedere while Puff got CÎROC / Y’all need to stop.” Rev. Al Sharpton don’t receive the same courtesies. Both “Marcy Me” and “Legacy,” which features Blue Ivy, also reflect this wiser, introspective Shawn Carter.

In closing…this is a beginning.

It was a beautiful social media spectacle to see Jay-Z fawn over his influences as he was graciously inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame earlier in the month. The “rant” mentioned Nas, Chance the Rapper, Lauryn Hill, Nicki Minaj, Future, Mos, Drake, Meek Mills, Ice Cube, Jay Electronica, Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane, Outkast, KRS-One, LL Cool J, Ice-T, Mobb Deep and so many more. Hip-Hop is a fraternity of genius that has been overlooked, marginalized and dismissed by the masses and, in many instances, rap fans.

Legends have been tossed aside and dismissed as irrelevant when, for lovers of the culture, nothing could be less factual. Of course some people will not be convinced and will remain in staunch opposition of Classic Hip-Hop for a number of reasons. 1) It is power. 2) We are powerful. 3) We are on pace to take over everything we set our energy and power to. So, in context, this reviewers stands firmly committed to the notion that Jay Z is representative of a highly evolved form of Hip-Hop. This where music, culture, business and knowledge intersect to create a base of power. It is not always as blatant as yelling “fight the power.”

Jay-Z isn’t the only one. He shouts out his team through out this entire extravaganza of 4:44 as proof. Prayerfully, the younger generation extracts the powerful lessons on this album so that their evolution can start earlier than 40-something year-old Jay-Z (truth is, Jay was evolved way back, but that’s another story). This is definitely a wave advanced by J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and others on a smaller scale, but its good to see the OG do it. Lastly, Jay-Z represents a strength, endurance and longevity that broadly symbolizes Hip-Hop as a culture.

So, hopefully we can change the conversation a bit. Some are preoccupied with so-called Mumble rap and if Migos and Budden were going to fight. Blah. Prayerfully, we can wave a white flag and build together, understanding we share common causes. Lofty visions, indeed, but this is more of an event than album. More movement than music. I think its possible.

If nothing else…4:44 is another classic, a proverbial master class from the master.
