El-P Gives Update On Expected ‘Run The Jewels 3’ 2016 Release

(AllHipHop News) Hip Hop duo Run The Jewels has released two critically acclaimed albums since 2013. Fans of the group are hopeful the third installment of the RTJ LP series arrives before the end of 2016.

El-P took to Twitter to give an update on Run The Jewels 3. The rapper-producer revealed that he and Killer Mike are still finalizing the project.

A track expected to be presented on the forthcoming RTJ3 titled “Panther Like A Panther (I’m The Sh-t)” is also the soundtrack for the Gears of War 4 trailer. The partnership includes “RTJxGoW4” merchandise as well.

Hit The Street: Young Thug New Album Cover

Young Thug aka Jeffery has been the topic of conversation before anyone even heard his new album.

Jeffery shared the cover for his album No, My Name is Jeffery, which features him posing in what seems to be a dress of some sort.

The piece is actually part of Italian designer Alessandro Trincone’s “Annodami” collection. The album cover outfit inspired by Japanese kimonos and trousers had all social media outlets in an uproar.

Many feel that this bold move isn’t a good move for the culture at all. While many feel Thuggers’ bold move isn’t an issue at all. Even Hip-Hop icons such as T.I. and Erykah Badu came to the defense of the Atlanta born rapper.

Is The Prosecutor Out To Get Chris Brown In His Gun Case?

(AllHipHop News) Chris Brown has had his issues with the law in the past. However, the latest story about Brown supposedly pulling a gun on a woman named Baylee Curran seems to be unraveling.

First, it has been reported that Curran is suspected of being a known thief and liar. Then supposed text messages from the night of the alleged incident included her saying she planned to frame Brown because she was angry over being kicked out of his house party.

Brown’s lawyer has also claimed that the LAPD did not find a gun at his client’s home. That disputes earlier reports that weapons were confiscated at the location.

Now the prosecutor’s motives in that case are being questioned. According to TMZ, Deputy District Attorney Mary Murray pushed for Brown to be arrested, even though police just wanted to investigate the situation.

Murray prosecuted Brown in the 2009 Rihanna assault case, and she lost probation violation hearings involving the R&B singer. CB has been a vocal critic of the D.A., calling her racist in 2013.

Curran claimed Brown pointed a gun at her head after she was seen looking at jewelry during the party. Chris Brown was taken into custody on a felony assault with a deadly weapon charge. He was released on $250,000 bail.

5 Songs From Frank Ocean’s ‘Blonde’ Debut On Hot 100 Chart

(AllHipHop News) Frank Ocean’s standout run rages on. The Grammy winner’s latest LP Blonde opened at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart with the third-highest opening sales week of 2016.

Tracks from the project are doing well on the Hot 100 chart as well. Five songs made it onto the tally being published on September 10.

“Nikes” (#79), “Ivy” (#80), “Pink + White” (#84), “Solo” (#96) and “Nights” (#98) give Ocean his most entries on the chart at one time. Previously, he only had four career songs on the Hot 100.

Ocean also has six entries in the Top 15 of the Hot R&B Songs chart. The five tracks mentioned above plus “Self Control.”

“Thinkin About You” from Ocean’s debut album channel ORANGE peaked at #32 on the Hot 100 in 2012. The single reached #4 on the Hot R&B Songs chart.

“Power” Struggle Between 50 Cent and Starz Over Chris Brown’s Appearance On Hit Show!!?

It looks like the latest trouble for Chris Brown is already costing him business.

Reports are swirling that the singer has lost his big role in “Power,” the hit series executive produced by rap star 50 Cent.

Chris was supposed to have a role in the smash series’ upcoming season as a drug dealer, but apparently the execs at Starz, feel otherwise and are trying to scrap Chris’ big appearance.

Apparently, 50 Cent didn’t consult with the network, and the bosses are scared Chris Brown will fly into one of his patented fits of rage on the set, plus all the bad publicity around this gun/robbery/model stuff.

Sources claim when Chris heard the news, he completely freaked out, because he hasn’t even been charged with a crime, much less been found guilty of anything!!

We already know 50 Cent isn’t going to back down from this one, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out…

Pete Rock Blasts Young Dolph Over Cocaine Lyrics; Dolph Responds

(AllHipHop News) Hip Hop culture has seen many instances of the veterans versus newcomers argument. The most recent example of the clash of generations involves legendary producer Pete Rock and the self-described King Of Memphis Young Dolph.

The dispute began when Rock took issue with Dolph’s song “In My System” playing at his “trap house” listening party with a young boy present. The cut features the lyrics: “I got cocaine runnin’ through my motherf-ckin’ system.”

What dat fool say? Lil kid right there chillin ??? cocaine running through his veins? This kinda s### has got to stop. We gotta raise children better than this. Damn homie

The 46-year-old production master posted a video of the party on Instagram. The clip’s caption was a direct takedown of Dolph and the content of “In My System.”

Rock wrote:

What dat fool say? Lil kid right there chillin ??? cocaine running through his veins? This kinda sh-t has got to stop. We gotta raise children better than this. Damn homie

Rock then replied to a user’s comment under the IG video. He called Dolph “trash,” “hot garbage,” and “corny.”

Young Dolph got wind of the statement and responded:

I don’t know u, and u don’t know me aparently [sic]… But u lame as f## bra

Rapper Kid Cudi is out as a cast member in the Fox smash “Empire.” The rapper had shot at least one episode, before somehow experiencing “creative differences” with producer’s of the show. Cudi was supposed to be playing an independent musician named Gram, who is a rival of Hakeem Lyon (Bryshere “Yazz” Gray). Cudi has already been replaced by rapper/actor Romeo Miller as Gram.

Rapper Lil Twist is behind bars after failing to show up for a hearing in his assault case. TMZ.com reports that Twist sent a lawyer to rep him in his assault case. Justin Bieber’s former pal has been hit with six felonies after attacking actor Kyle Massey’s brother and then robbing him in November of 2015. Lil Twist eventually showed up to his hearing today after a bench warrant was issued. Twist was charged with for failure to appear in court. If convicted on all charges, he could face 25 years in jail.

Singer R. Kelly has reportedly been hit with a $192,000 tax lien. The “I Believe I Can Fly” hitmaker reportedly owes America’s Internal Revenue Service (IRS) $191,615 in unpaid taxes stemming from income in 2012. This isn’t the first time the 49-year-old has had tax issues – in 2014, he was hit with a $146,530 tax lien by officials at the Illinois Department of Revenue for alleged missed payments in 2009, 2011, and 2012. He also owed a total of $6.2 million for unpaid taxes for the years 2005 to 2011.

Vince Staples Unveils Short Film For “Prima Donna” EP (VIDEO)

The EP features production from singer/songwriter James Blake, DJ Dahi and Chicago legend, No I.D, along with a feature from A$AP Rocky on the project’s title track.

Run the Jewels Track “Panther Like A Pather (Im The S#it) Featured In Gears Of War 4 Trailer (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop duo Run The Jewels will be taking their music to the video game realm.

Their track “Panther Like A Panther (I’m The Sh#t),”which is slated to appear on Run The Jewels 3, is featured in the trailer for the new video game Gears Of War 4.

The video features a 2-minute clip of the hard hitting track accompanied by the grisly visuals of dismembered monster corpses and intense combat.

“Gears Of War 4: First Horde 3.0” will be released on XBox October 11.

The new track highlighted in the trailer is not Run The Jewels only involvement with “Gears Of War 4,” as Killer Mike and EL-P will both be included in the game as multiplayer characters.

Additionally, the group’s website features a mash-up of RTJ and Gears Of War 4 visuals with shirts featuring the game available for $28.

Kanye West’s “Famous” Sculpture Could Potentially Be Sold For Up To $4M (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West’s controversial sculpture used in his video for “Famous” could bring the artist up to $4,000,000 according to art gallery Blum & Poe in Los Angeles, who recently displayed the art piece.

Rolling Stone reports that the sculpture, which features 12 life-like celebrities such as Amber Rose, Taylor Swift, Donald Trump and more in bed together, went on exhibit August 24, the day before West embarked on his Saint Pablo tour.

“I did the math in my head, and it took $500,000 to a million just to make it,” says Los Angeles artist Aaron Axelrod, an estimate which Blum & Poe gallery co-founder Tim Blum calls “a good ballpark.”

A sale of the artwork is not certain, as the piece was placed on display last minute. 

However, the sculpture could soon make its appearance in many cities, as a member of West’s team confirmed that the piece was already on its way to its next location.

“I have friends who are directors of museums. This is a thing you could see at Lacma, MOCA or the Hammer very easily,”says Blum.

Did The MTV VMAs Producers Plan To Have Mariah Carey & Jennifer Lopez Squash Their Beef On Stage?

Word on the street is that the MTV VMAs’ producers had some other tricks up their sleeve that just didn’t get a chance to come to fruition.

Rumor has it that MTV was looking to have Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez unite on stage to squash their beef. The idea was for the divas to either perform solo numbers or present together.

MTV allegedly presented several ideas to their camps, and J Lo’s camp apparently loved the idea. It was allegedly petty Queen Mariah Carey that wasn’t here for any of it.

Apparently MTV spent weeks trying to convince Mariah to participate, but nothing was good enough to convince her. With this said, MTV producers were left with no choice but to scrap the idea.

Remember J Lo has repeatedly expressed that she has no problems with Mariah. It’s our favorite petty songstress Mariah that just couldn’t do it for the culture. This would’ve been epic. BET has been successful at squashing a few musical beefs on stage i.e) Trey Songz & August Alsina and K. Michelle & Tamar Braxton.

Diddy Wants To Make His Harlem-Based Charter School A Global Brand

(AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop star Sean ‘Diddy” Combs is determined to make sure his first school is a success so he can expand the brand worldwide.

The rap mogul officially added educator to his resume on Monday (August 29), when he opened the Capital Preparatory Harlem Charter School in his native Harlem, New York, providing free public education for children in grades six to 12.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to come back home and open a school, I’ve just always had that vision in my head,” he explained on U.S. breakfast show Today.

“I knew that I was able to achieve to the heights that I was able to achieve because I started out and had a very good education, and I think we just take that for granted.

“Also, we’re not dealing with the issues that we’re not properly educating our children, especially in inner cities. So instead of complaining about it, I wanted to do something about it, so I opened up my own school and I’m just gonna lead by example and try to make the change that way. It’s a beautiful thing.”

Combs began developing the school idea five years ago, when he discussed his plans with educator Dr. Steve Perry, who founded the similar Capital Prep Magnet School in Hartford, Connecticut.

Perry is overseeing the new Harlem institute’s development, and with his help, Diddy is eager to turn Capital Prep into a global brand.

“I also wanna expand schools into different cities and countries,” he added.

He isn’t the first star to ring the bell for a new school – in 2007, TV mogul Oprah Winfrey opened an all girls boarding school, named the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa, and fellow rapper Pitbull has also founded two charter schools to help provide education to impoverished families in Miami, Florida, and Henderson, Nevada.

Danny Brown Discusses His Upcoming ‘Atrocity Exhibition’ Album

(AllHipHop News) It has been 3 years since Detroit-born rapper Danny Brown dropped his last album Old. Brown is set to return with a new body of work titled Atrocity Exhibition.

Entertainment Weekly caught up with Brown to get more information about his forthcoming project. The “When It Rain” rhymer suggested Atrocity Exhibition is the first real representation of his true aesthetic.

“With this one, it was all about finding my sound — this feels, to me, like the first Danny Brown album,” said the 35-year-old Hip Hop artist. “Before, I experimented and tried out sounds, maybe something that was popular out at the time, I might go over something like that. But with this album, I didn’t care about what was happening with music today.”

Prior to Old, Danny released 2011’s XXX. He discussed the connection between his last two LPs and Atrocity Exhibition.

“All my albums are like documentaries of my life. With XXX, I was going through [those topics] at the time. And Atrocity Exhibition is all about everything that happened after XXX came out,” explained Brown. “Where Old, it was before XXX and the future. It would be Side A [of Old], XXX, Atrocity Exhibition, Side B [of Old]. That’s how this movie would go.”

While Danny Brown is known to take extended breaks between releasing official projects, the man born Daniel Sewell is still one of the most critically acclaimed new rappers of the last six years.

Atrocity Exhibition will feature other well-received 2010 era emcees such as Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, and Earl Sweatshirt. They all appear on the posse cut “Really Doe.”

Brown stated, “When I was making XXX, my top three rappers – the three guys that I was like, ‘Damn, I think they might rap better than me’ – were Ab-Soul, Kendrick, and Earl. The guys I looked at as competition are now my friends. We’re like the Four Horsemen.”

Teyana Taylor Joins VH1’s ‘The Breaks’ & ‘Hip Hop Squares’

(AllHipHop News) Even though Teyana Taylor has been releasing music for over seven years, the 25-year-old Kanye West protegé has become the breakout star of summer 2016.

Taylor’s season of success began when she stole the show at VH1’s Hip Hop Honors in June. Her uncanny channeling of Lil Kim was a huge hit on social media.

Then on Sunday, West debuted the Teyana-starring video for “Fade” during the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards. Once again the singer-actress was a top trending topic on Twitter.

The latest news involving Taylor is the announcement she is joining the cast of The Breaks. What began as a television movie, The Breaks is now an upcoming TV show with Mack Wilds as the lead.

Taylor is playing a rising rapper on the VH1 drama. The rest of the cast includes Wood Harris, Afton Williamson, David Call, and Antoine Harris.

The network is also bringing back Hip Hop Squares, the game show based on Hollywood Squares. Taylor will be one of the guests on the show being produced by Ice Cube’s Cube Vision.

Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg was the host of the original Hip Hop Squares which ran for two seasons on MTV2. Comedian DeRay Davis has been named as the new host.

Joey Bada$$ Raps Jay Z’s “Friend Or Foe” As His Favorite Verse in Hip Hop (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) At one time Joey Bada$$ had the opportunity to sign with Jay Z’s Roc Nation label. The Pro Era frontman ultimately chose not to join Hov’s team, but Joey is still a big fan of his fellow Brooklynite.

Bada$$ proved his admiration for Jay during ThisIs50‘s “His Favorite Verse In Hip Hop” series. The video features the “Devastated” performer spitting “Friend Or Foe” from Reasonable Doubt.

Previously, 50 Cent rapped “The Message” by Nas as his favorite verse.

No Gun Found At Chris Brown’s Home, Lawyer Says

(AllHipHop News) Chris Brown’s latest legal foray has just begun, but he may have just scored a major legal victory.

His lawyer claims that the Los Angeles Police Department didn’t find a gun on the premises after receiving a search warrant to search the Tarzana, California mansion.

Brown’s attorney Mark Geragos told the Los Angeles Times that there was no gun found on the singer’s property. Additionally, Geragos charges that the jewelry described by accuser Baylee Curran wasn’t located either.

Curran claimed that Breezy put a gun to her head when she attempted to touch some jewelry for sale in his house. The singer has vehemently refuted these claims.

“It has become apparent that the allegations are not just false but fabricated,” Geragos told The Times.

Based on Curran’s allegations, Chris Brown was was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, but posted $250,000 bail on Tuesday. He has yet to be formally charged with any crime.

Brown has an arraignment on Sept. 20.

Curran’s checkered past has also become a point of discussion.

She is a “dethroned beauty queen” that is wanted for a 2013 purse snatching at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. She allegedly stole a friend’s Louis Vuitton bag and the cash and credit cards inside.

She also accused a male roommate of assault in 2013, but he charged that she was intoxicated and violent towards his friend. The case was dismissed after Curran failed to show up to court.

Chuck Creekmur commented on the matter with Lisa Ever of New York’s Fox 5.

“My biggest concerns right now are that Chris Brown may – quite frankly – be accused of something he didn’t do,” Creekmur stated, noting the extreme police force used in the matter.
