Troy Ave Wheeled Into Court To Face Attempted Murder Charge (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Roland “Troy Ave” Collins arrived at Manhattan Criminal Court yesterday (May 30). The Brooklyn rapper was arraigned on charges connected to the deadly shooting at Irving Plaza on May 25.

The New York Daily News captioned footage of Troy entering the courthouse. After taking a bullet to the leg, the 33-year-old BSB Records head was taken into the building in a wheelchair.

Prosecutors believe Troy is responsible for not only shooting himself that night but also shooting at other individuals. Video shows him firing inside a V.I.P. room in the venue.

Troy is facing attempted murder as well as criminal possession of a weapon. Authorities are said to be still determining if he will be charged with the murder of his friend Ronald “Banga” McPhatter.

Judge Ushir Pandit-Durant denied a $50,000 bail request and ordered Collins be held without bail until trial. Troy’s attorney Scott Leemon suggested that his client is the victim in this situation.

“He didn’t shoot himself, he didn’t shoot his lifelong friend and bodyguard, Ronald McPhatter,” Leemon told AllHipHop.com. “Ronald died a hero and should be remembered that way. The snippet of the video released by NYPD doesn’t tell the whole story.”

Lil B Takes Credit For Golden State Warriors Win Over Oklahoma City Thunder, E-40, Yo Gotti Talk Big Money

(AllHipHop News) The Oklahoma City Thunder, who once held a 3-1 lead over the juggernaut that is The Golden State Warriors, are heading home after losing Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals, 96-88.

After being defeated three straight games, Kevin During and Oklahoma City found themselves in an intense battle to stay alive at Oracle Arena. But Oklahoma City could not withstand Golden States’ three-point shooting.

Steph Curry racked up 36 points and sank seven three-pointers. He also set an NBA record by making 32 three point shots in a seven game series. Klay Thompson ended the night with 21 points, landing six three-pointers of his own.

Oklahoma City led by as many as 13 points in the first half. However, the tide turned in the third quarter with Golden State outscoring their opposition 29-12.

Kevin Durant’s 29 points and the 19 points Russell Westbrook added were solid attempts, but their efforts were just not enough to stop Golden State.

According to NBA.com, 10 teams in history have come back from such a deficit to win a series. Golden State is the third team in history to rally from being down 3-1 to take a trip to The Finals.

Bay area rapper Lil B showed no mercy to his rival Kevin Durant and The Oklahoma City Thunder.

Lil B took to Twitter right after the loss to take full credit, and chastised anyone who doubted the 2011 curse he cast upon Kevin Durant was real, especially after Golden State’s improbable come back.

Rapper E-40 took over The Bleacher Report’s Snapchat during the game. He sat court side and showcased some behind the scenes Snaps. Snoop predicted Golden State would win, as did rapper Game and Oakland’s Too $hort.

E-40 showed a text message with Memphis rapper and “Law” collaborator Yo Gotti offering to bet up to a whopping $50,000 on Oklahoma City.

“He said he wanted to bet me $35,000, $40,000. I said ‘I spent that on the seats,'” E-40 laughed.

The Golden State Warriors will move on to face LeBron James and The Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday (June 2) in Oakland during a highly anticipated rematch of the the 2015 Finals.

Rapper Troy Ave Pleads Not Guilty To Attempted Murder Charge, Lawyer Issues Statement

(AllHipHop News) Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave has officially been arraigned on charges that include attempted murder, for his role in a backstage shooting during a concert headlined by T.I. last week.

Troy Ave, born Roland Collins and three other people were injured on May 25, after a fist fight turned deadly in a backstage green room at Irving Plaza in Manhattan.

Earlier in the week, police said all of the evidence was consistent with shots fired from Troy Ave’s 9mm, but they also left open the possibility that a revolver was also fired.

[ALSO READ: BSB Records Affiliates Young Lito & Hovain Address Reports On Troy Ave Shooting & Arrest ]

A close associate of Troy Ave’s named Ronald “Banga” McPhatter, 30, died after he was struck in the stomach.

Another 34-year-old man was shot in the abdomen, while a woman was hit in the knee and left with and shattered femur.

Over the weekend, Troy Ave underwent surgery after taking a bullet in the leg.

The arraignment on the attempted murder charge could mean there was another shooter responsible, but police have also stated they could upgrade the charges, depending on the results of ballistic tests.

“The most important thing in this case is that Troy Ave is an actual victim here,” Troy Ave’s attorney Scott Leemon told AllHipHop.com.

Assistant DA Christine Keena said police recovered three guns, including the one used in the shooting, in the van that transported Troy Ave to the hospital.

“This defendant is on video coming out of the VIP room where the individuals were shot,” Assistant DA Christine Keenan told The New York Daily News. ”He had the gun in his hand and was seen firing that gun in the direction of fleeing patrons.”

Attorney Scott Leemon said that the shocking video that was released by the NYPD showing Troy Ave blasting away only shows a portion of what happened.

“He didn’t shoot himself, he didn’t shoot his lifelong friend and bodyguard, Ronald McPhatter,” Scott Leemon told AllHipHop.com. “Ronald died a hero and should be remembered that way. The snippet of the video released by NYPD doesn’t tell the whole story.”

Troy Ave has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is being held without bail.

Snoop Dogg Calls For “Roots” Boycott

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Snoop Dogg is urging fans to join him in boycotting the new “Roots” remake, insisting he is “sick” of all the slave dramas.

The revamped version of the historical miniseries, which is based on Alex Haley’s 1976 book, “Roots: The Saga of an American Family,” is due to premiere on the History Channel on Monday night, as Americans mark Memorial Day, but the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” hitmaker will not be tuning in to watch.

In a profanity-laced video posted on Instagram.com, Snoop insists filmmakers and producers should look to create new material about the success of African-Americans, instead of reminding audiences about their troubled past.

“No disrespect but I can’t watch no motherf##king black movies where n###as get dogged out – ’12 Years A Slave,’ ‘Roots,’ ‘Underground,’ I can’t watch none of that s##t,” he declared.

“I’m sick of this s##t. How the f##k they gonna put ‘Roots’ on on Memorial Day? They just gonna keep beatin’ that s##t in our heads in how they did us, huh?” Snoop fumed. “I mean, I don’t understand it, man. They just wanna keep showing the abuse that we took hundreds and hundreds of years ago.”

The angry rapper continued, “But guess what? We’re taking the same abuse. Think about that part. When y’all gonna make a motherf##king series about the success that black folks was having? The only success we have is ‘Roots’ and ’12 Years A Slave’ and s**t like that, huh? F##k y’all.”

Snoop then called on followers to turn their backs on the new ‘Roots’ show.

“I ain’t watchin’ that s##t (sic),” he snarled. “I advise you motherf##king real n**gas like myself, f##k them television shows. Let’s create our own s##t based on today, how we live and how we inspire people today. Black is what’s real. F##k that old s##t.”

It’s not the first time the veteran hip-hop star has made his outspoken views known. Earlier this year, he demanded fans boycott the Oscars over its lack of black nominees.

The “Roots” revamp stars Laurence Fishburne, Forest Whitaker, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Anna Paquin, Anika Noni Rose, newcomer Malachi Kirby, and rapper/actor T.I.

The original 1977 production earned nine Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe and a Peabody Award, and spawned two sequels. The finale is still the third highest-rated U.S. TV program in broadcasting history.

Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur, AllHipHop.com’s co-founder, expressed a similar sentiment in a recent op-ed piece for MadameNoire, citing the absence of other sagas in people of color’s rich history.

Creekmur said, “If we are going to study history, direct your texts to Mansa Musa. African King Musa is widely regarded at the richest person to have ever lived on Earth. He also happened to be a Black man from Africa. During his reign, Europe was starving and waging war against each other, but King Musa was rolling thousands deep, giving gold to the poor to the point where Europeans had his face on their maps. If he lived today, Mansa Musa would be worth about $400 billion. When he died, his son took over. I’m thinking The History Channel could craft a ‘Game of Thrones’ – like series on the exploits of King Mansa Musa. Right?”

Sorry Internets…There Is NO Collaboration Between Andre 3000 and Childish Gambino

Well, what could have been is just that. Earlier today, the Internet lit up with reports suggesting that revered Atlanta rappers Childish Gambino and Andre 3000 were working on a joint project together.

Unfortunately, reps for BOTH artists reached out to AllHipHop.com to put a rest to the growing chatter that the pair are releasing an album together.

We initially though the story was far-fetched, but these kinds of collaborations do happen and as of lately, they drop overnight, out of no where.

Yo Gotti Says His Career Was Inspired By Cash Money CEOs’ Valuable Advice

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Yo Gotti recently detailed the influence Cash Money Records’ Co-CEO’s Bryan “Birdman” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams had on his career in the latest episode of his YouTube series “60 Seconds With Gotti.”

In the clip, Yo Gotti explained how he learned about the music business from some of the biggest names in the culture. In addition to Birdman and Slim, the Memphis rapper soaked up advice from other entrepreneurs, including Jay Z, Master P, and J. Prince.

Yo Gotti explained how he looked up to these business masterminds more so than rappers, a habit that helped him launch several successful businesses, including his label Collective Music Group (aka Cocaine Music Group) and the Memphis restaurant, Privé.

But it was Birdman and Slim who received the most praise from Yo Gotti.

“When I first met Birdman and Slim, they were the first n###as like that I was able to be around, and ask them questions and chop it up with them about the game and life period,” Yo Gotti said. “So, I feel like them n###as gave me a lot of game and motivated to do this s##t.”

Yo Gotti also said that Cash Money Records’ CEO’s advice inspired him to eventually discover new artists like Blac Youngsta, Wave Chapelle and Snootie Wild.

“I try to give them n###a’s the same motivation that Stunna gave me. One of them gonna be the n###a who gonna get some money…,” Yo Gotti said.

Woman Screams “My Leg, My Leg” After Getting Shot In Troy Ave Incident

(AllHipHop News) A new video seems to show the mayhem in the green room at Irving Plaza in New York City. Though out the video 39-second video, five shots ring out with a woman repeatedly yelling “My leg, my leg.” The DailyMail.com obtained video that seems to depict the events that lead up to the Troy Ave shooting last Wednesday. While facts are limited, it has been speculated that Troy Ave confronted Taxstone in the VIP room after the podcast host had berated the rapper over social media. The resulting fracas ended in a shoot out.

This video has been analyzed.

It has been confirmed that that Maggie Heckstall was shot in the leg so, if the video is of the same scene, she is heard screaming my leg. She is reportedly in a relationship with Maino. Her account of the incident corroborates the video seen above.

It has been speculated that somebody from Taxstone’s crew fired an initial three shots heard in the first moments of the video (about seven seconds). Police allege that Troy Ave shot himself, but others have stated he was shot at the 19-second mark or was shot wrestling the gun away from an assailant. The latter part of the video shows the scenery of the room and corroborates the second video, which has gone viral.

Troy Ave’s recent court date has been pushed back due to his injuries.

Ice-T Credits His Time In The Army For Launching An Amazing Career…And In The Process West Coast Gangster Rap

Ice-T has done it all at this point in his career. He went from a pioneering gangster rapper to a proficient actor with roles in powerful movies like “New Jack City” and television shows like “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”

None of these achievements, including not being killed during his time on the street as a criminal and a pimp, would have been able to happen had he not made the choice to join the Army when he was in high school.

Ice-T, born Tracy Marrow, became a teenaged father back in 1976. After struggling with his then girlfriend Adrienne, the future rapper took to a life of frivolous crime on the streets.

Ice resolved to enlist in the Armed Services, thanks to his time as a “jock” at Crenshaw High School. He joined as a Paratrooper and was supposed to be stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii.

But first, he was shipped off to basic training at Fort Leonardwood, in Missouri.

“We called it Fort Lost-in-the-Woods in the State of Misery,” recounted Ice-T in his memoir “Ice: A Memoir of Gangster Life and Redemption–from South Central to Hollywood.”

Ice-T was then sent to Advanced Infantry Training in Fort Benning, Georgia.

This is where the youngster actually began a life of crime that would drive him to his days pimping and hustling on the streets of Los Angeles, prior to his fame as a rapper.

“One of the commanding officers singled out a bunch of us guys who seemed to have some streets smarts about us,” Ice-T stated. “I was basically the leader, and at night we would go out onto the post and boost the s**t he wanted.”

But the group of military bandits did eventually get caught stealing an infantry-blue rug for an officer.

“They rounded all of us up, they cracked us, and they put us in the jail on the post.

“But the insane part was – just to show you how f**ked-up the military can be – while I was in jail, they gave me my $2,500 bonus. I mean, the bureaucracy of the military is so retarded, nobody checks with anybody else, so they ended up giving $2,500 to a dude in jail awaiting a military trial for burglary,” Ice-T remembered.

That’s when Ice-T had an epiphany to escape from the barracks where he and the other members of the crime ring were confined. Because the security was minimum, Ice-T simply booked a civilian flight from Columbus Airport back to his hometown of Los Angeles.

“I figured out a way to make the top window come down a few inches. Just enough for a skinny dude to squeeze through,” Ice-T wrote. “I went up to the top bunk and managed to wriggle my ass out of the top window. I had to time my escape so that the guards at the gates wouldn’t see me. It was just like breaking out of prison.”

After spending a few weeks AWOL, Ice-T said he knew he needed to “squash s**t” ahead of the Army before they really came down on his ass with prison time for fleeing.

Fortunately for Ice-T, the commanding officer who ordered him to steal had been in the Army for over 20 years and had just as much reason to keep the young thieves out of trouble.

Ice received an “Article 15” – a military reprimand – and got back to serving his time in the Army.

After making it through Advanced Infantry Training, where he jumped from planes at 3,000-foot heights, Ice-T made it all the way up to a Squad Leader at Schofield Barracks.

It was here, in Hawaii, where Ice-T became acquainted with a real pimp named “Mac.”

“Mac used to pull me aside and talk to me. ‘Ice,’ he’d say. ‘Dig, you cut out for this here. You cut out for this pimpin’ game. You Got them light eyes. You don’t seem to care about these girls,” revealed Ice-T.

Concurrently, while he was on base, a confrontation happened that would set the entire direction of Ice’s life in motion.

A Sergeant Donavan decided to go extra hard on Ice-T one day over the ongoing issue over the length of his hair.

“‘Marrow!” he screamed. “You f**king loser! You’re only here because you can’t make it in civilian life.’ More than anything else, that’s the one statement that propelled me to where I’m at today. I give Sergeant Donavan all the credit,” Ice-T declared.

“I’m not gonna front: those words cut me deep. I’m standing there in formation, in the blazing tropical sun, and I’m looking at myself like some outsider would see me,” Ice-T wrote. “And I said ‘Damn, maybe it’s the truth. What kind of future do I really have in the outside world?’”

Over the span of several months, Mac taught Ice-T the “whole code.”

After grasping the game from Mac and the disrespect from Sergeant Donavan, a young Tracy Marrow heard “Rapper’s Delight” which he melded with his own “Crip Rhymes.”

Then Ice-T discovered Philadelphia rapper Schoolly D’s “PSK” – recognized as the first gangster rap record – and was inspired to write his own legendary song “6 in The Morning,” which is hailed as the birth of the West Coast’s version of the genre.

He ultimately received an Honorable Discharge and hit the streets of South Central, Los Angeles as pimp/DJ/promoter/rapper, named Ice-T.

“But that’s the beautiful thing: Sometimes in life, someone will say something to you that either crushes you, breaks your spirit, or it drives you to the next level,” Ice-T explained.

Kanye West Meets John Legend’s New Daughter, Beefs With Paparazzi

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West played the doting uncle on Sunday (May 29) after meeting his longtime friend John Legend’s new baby daughter.

The “All of Me” singer and his supermodel wife Chrissy Teigen welcomed their first child, daughter Luna Simone, in April, and six weeks later, the new parents introduced their little one to their close friends Kanye and wife Kim Kardashian during a brunch in Malibu, California.

Chrissy took to Snapchat to document the meeting, and in one video, the Stronger rapper is cradling little Luna in his arms with a smile on his face, as Kim stands next to him playing with the newborn’s tiny feet.

In another shot, Kim is holding Luna while puckering up for a kiss, and Chrissy added the caption, “Auntie!”

Kim and Kanye also brought along their two kids, daughter North, 2, and son Saint, who is four months older than little Luna, for the lunch date.

The two superstar couples are close friends, and Kim and her sisters Kourtney and Khloe even threw a baby shower for Chrissy at Kim and Kanye’s Bel-Air home on March 16.

Guests including actress Jenna Dewan Tatum, Kardashian family matriarch Kris Jenner and celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin posed for photos in a photo booth, played baby-themed games, and enjoyed a feast from McDonalds, with a spread that included breakfast muffins and hash browns, all washed down with glasses of rose wine.

The bash was actually Chrissy’s second baby shower – just weeks before her Los Angeles party, the “Lip Sync Battle” co-host was feted by friends in New York City, where the party was fit for a little princess.

All the guests at the New York City luncheon donned paper crowns, with the pregnant Chrissy wearing a bedazzled tiara with “Baby Mama” on the front, while John wore a corresponding one with “Baby Daddy” emblazoned on it.
