The lawsuit, filed by a woman identified only as Jane Doe, claims the Grammy-winning artist hurled her mic directly at her after Doe tossed water onstage at Drai’s Beachclub.

The incident occurred during a daytime event as temperatures climbed into the high 90s Fahrenheit. According to Doe, she was following Cardi’s own request for the crowd to splash her with water to cool her off in the desert heat.

Doe alleges that Cardi B “overreacted” when she launched the microphone into the audience, striking her and causing injury.

The moment was captured on multiple videos that quickly spread across social media platforms, sparking widespread conversation about celebrity behavior and crowd interaction during live shows.

Las Vegas police opened an investigation after the incident, but no charges were filed against the “I Like It” rapper.

Sean Kingston’s Mother Jailed In $1M Fraud Case, Deportation Looms

Janice Turner was sentenced to five years in federal prison Tuesday (July 23) for orchestrating a million-dollar fraud scheme involving fake wire transfers, luxury goods and the celebrity status of her son Sean Kingston, and now faces possible deportation to Jamaica.

The 61-year-old mother of the “Beautiful Girls” singer was also handed three years of supervised release and ordered to pay restitution to the victims, though the final amount will be determined at a later hearing.

Federal prosecutors said Turner and Kingston conspired to scam high-end jewelers, car dealers and electronics retailers by presenting bogus proof of payment, often leveraging Kingston’s fame to secure merchandise. The fraudulent activity involved more than $1 million in goods, according to court documents.

Turner was convicted earlier this year on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud. Prosecutors identified between 17 and 21 victims in the case. 

Many of the luxury items were seized during a raid at Kingston’s home in Southwest Ranches, Florida.

Janice Turner Claims Sean Kingston Was “Used” & “Abused”

Before sentencing, Turner appeared in court visibly emotional and addressed the judge directly. “I’m sorry. My intention was to keep my son afloat in this difficult industry. They used him and abused him. I am begging for mercy for me and my son,” she said, according to CBS News.

Kingston did not attend the hearing but reportedly submitted a letter asking the court to show compassion toward his mother, citing her age and medical issues.

Turner’s legal team said they plan to appeal parts of the ruling. Her prior convictions for fraud were factored into the sentence, which her attorneys argued was overly harsh given her health and lack of personal financial gain from the scheme. 

In a letter to the court earlier this month, Turner requested no more than 30 months behind bars. She could be deported to Jamaica after completing her sentence.

Kingston is scheduled to be sentenced in the same case on August 28. He remains on house arrest after posting bond.

6ix9ine Cops To Having MDMA & Cocaine—Could Be Sent To Jail For Five Years

6ix9ine appeared in federal court on Wednesday (July 23) and admitted to possessing cocaine and MDMA during a supervised release, a violation that could land him behind bars for up to five years.

The rapper confessed to the drug-related breach after a March 12 raid at his Miami home turned up traces of MDMA and cocaine in a bedroom cabinet.

The discovery came during a broader investigation into his repeated noncompliance with court-ordered supervision.

Federal sentencing guidelines recommend three to nine months per violation. However, Judge Paul Engelmayer noted 6ix9ine could receive a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a lifetime of supervised release.

The 28-year-old artist was originally sentenced to two years in prison in 2019 after pleading guilty to racketeering and other charges tied to a trial involving the leaders of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods.

Following his release, he was placed on supervised release with strict conditions, including drug testing, travel restrictions and a ban on promoting gang activity.

Since then, 6ix9ine has repeatedly violated those terms.

Court records show he traveled to cities like Las Vegas and Sarasota, Florida, without court permission. He also failed multiple drug tests and tested positive for methamphetamines.

In 2024, he was taken into custody after leaving the Dominican Republic without approval and missing required drug screenings.

The raid on his Florida residence later that year uncovered the illegal substances that led to his latest admission in court.

Despite previously serving short stints in jail for earlier violations—45 days and roughly six weeks—this latest offense could bring a much harsher penalty.

Sentencing is scheduled for September 25, 2025.

Candace Owens Causing International Havoc, Sued By French President Emmanuel Macron

Candace Owens is being sued by French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron in a Delaware court over what they describe as a “campaign of defamation” involving baseless conspiracy theories and personal attacks.

The lawsuit, filed July 23, accuses the conservative commentator of spreading false claims that Brigitte Macron was born male, stole another person’s identity, and transitioned into her current public persona.

The complaint also alleges Owens promoted theories that the couple are blood relatives engaged in incest and that Emmanuel Macron was installed as president through a CIA mind-control program.

“Because Ms Owens systematically reaffirmed these falsehoods in response to each of our attorneys’ repeated requests for a retraction, we ultimately concluded that referring the matter to a court of law was the only remaining avenue,” the Macrons said in a statement to The Guardian.

The 200-page complaint includes 22 counts, including defamation, false light, and defamation by implication.

The Macrons are seeking unspecified damages, citing reputational harm and financial losses resulting from Owens’ repeated public statements across social media and her podcast series “Becoming Brigitte.”

Owens, who parted ways with The Daily Wire in March 2024, continued to promote these claims after her departure.

According to the lawsuit, her motive was to expand her audience and capitalize on controversy.

In response, Owens posted a photo of the Macrons on Instagram and wrote, “I will be coming for this wig today. Stay tuned.”

She also teased coverage of the lawsuit on her show, writing on X, “Brigitte pivots from grooming teenagers to an attempt to groom American courts. LETSGO.”

Her spokesperson issued a statement to The Guardian, saying, “This is a foreign government attacking the First Amendment rights of an American independent journalist.

Candace repeatedly requested an interview with Brigitte Macron. Instead of offering a comment, Brigitte is resorting to trying to bully a reporter into submission. In France, politicians can bully journalists, but this is not France. It’s America.”

Brigitte Macron previously won a similar defamation case in France in 2023, but that ruling was overturned on appeal in July 2025.

Lupe Fiasco Flexes Razor-Sharp Wordplay On Upcoming Self-Produced “SOS” Single

Lupe Fiasco is releasing a new track titled “SOS” on Friday (July 25), a jazzy, self-produced single that serves as a preview of his upcoming EP, Samurai DX.

Built on a smooth blend of vibraphone, upright bass and saxophone, “SOS” showcases the Chicago rapper’s lyrical dexterity and sharp wordplay.

“Recorded this out in Califo’, but feel like Dallas to a palindrome, a salad on my palette, bro/Still eat a cannibal sandwich, though, mix the poison with the antidote and terrorize the whole talent show,” Lupe raps over the laid-back instrumental.

The track is one of two new songs featured on Samurai DX, an expanded version of his 2024 album, Samurai. Lupe’s original Samurai album dropped last year and was praised for its introspective tone and minimalist production. He described it as one of his “most personal projects to date.”

Outside the studio, Lupe has stayed active with performances and academic work. He wrapped his Samurai Tour last fall and performed in May at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he also teaches “Rap Theory and Practice” as a visiting professor.

That show was part of “GHOTIING MIT: Public Art,” a project blending music and visual art. Lupe recorded nine original songs on-site at various art installations across MIT’s campus, using ambient sounds and spontaneous lyrics tied to each location.

In addition to his role at MIT, Lupe joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins University’s Peabody Institute earlier this year. He’s also set to hit the road in August with Cypress Hill, Atmosphere and The Pharcyde on the Dank Daze of Summer Tour.

“I didn’t think it was going to come this soon,” B-Real said. “He was one of my biggest influences. I was a big Ozzy Osbourne fan and then I got introduced to Black Sabbath after the fact. He was definitely big in my life. Black Sabbath, Black Sunday—you hit it on the head.”

As you’ve probably seen by now, Mass Appeal is rolling out something for the ages, the Legend Has It…series. We’re talking Slick Rick, De La Soul, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Big L, Mobb Deep and the highly anticipated joint album from Nas and DJ Premier.

Nas and DJ Premier have been teasing this collaboration for like two decades. It’s been the golden goose of rap albums, but we never thought it was going to hatch! But about a year ago, the early signs started to take shape. They made a formal announcement and everything. Since then, it’s been slow moving. But perhaps they were building toward something much bigger.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think I am.

Anyway, what’s certain is that Nas and DJ Premier have a project coming this year. That alone is enough. But there’s a rumor floating around that could make this even more legendary.

Word is, there’s a track on this album featuring Kendrick Lamar, Black Thought from The Roots and Nas — all on the same DJ Premier beat.

Let that sink in.

Black Thought. This man is criminally underrated. It’s weird that I even have to say that out loud, because lyrically, he’s one of the greatest to ever touch a mic.

Then there’s Kendrick Lamar, who’s been putting belt to a$$ for a straight year. The dude has been relentless.

And of course, Nas. A master. As a part-owner of Mass Appeal, Nas continues to show that there’s a lane for Hip-Hop veterans to lead. He’s still rapping, still innovating, still building. Damn.

There’s not a lot of info on this rumor. But I’m hoping it’s true. These Mass Appeal drops haven’t missed yet. I think this could be the big one.

Joe Budden is pulling in seven figures every month from his podcast’s Patreon, according to a New York Times profile that breaks down his booming subscriber base and business model.

The former rapper-turned-media personality is reportedly earning about $1 million per month through The Joe Budden Podcast’s Patreon, thanks to roughly 70,000 subscribers paying between $5 and $50 monthly. The figures, confirmed by a Patreon spokesperson, position Budden as the platform’s top earner.

Testa projects Budden and his team could bring in $12 million by the end of 2025 if the current pace holds.

The numbers went public just weeks after Budden accidentally posted a screenshot revealing his Patreon earnings—$902,000 for the month—without blacking out the total. The image quickly circulated online before he attempted to delete it. On a later episode of his show, Budden admitted the leak wasn’t exactly a mistake.

“My moment of excitement, I said to Ian, ‘Yo, do me a favor, big dog, on a FaceTime. Hey, blackout all this other s###. I need to hit that $30 million on him,'” he said.

Industry Giant David Geffen Slams Ex-Husband Who’s Suing For Lifetime Support

Music and entertainment mogul David Geffen is facing a new legal storm. His ex-husband, Donovan Michaels, has filed a lawsuit accusing the media mogul of reneging on an alleged lifetime financial agreement. Michaels maintains Geffen left him homeless and emotionally scarred.

Donovan Michaels and David Geffen married in 2023 but divorced this year.

Michaels, 32, sued the 82-year-old billionaire in Los Angeles County Superior Court, claiming Geffen broke an oral contract. Geffen allegedly agreed to financially support Michaels for life in exchange for acting as Geffen’s partner, caregiver and travel companion. That arrangement collapsed earlier this year, when Geffen filed for divorce and cut off support, according to the suit. Geffen also forced Michaels out of the his New York City residence.

Michaels, a gay Black man, claimed an awful abuse of power in the court filing. He described Geffen as a “wealthy, powerful white gay billionaire who believed himself untouchable.” He alleged that Geffen exploited him both emotionally and physically throughout their relationship.

The lawsuit accuses Geffen of demanded “sexual access at will,” which were demeaning and humiliating. He also said that verbal abuse was the norm.

Michaels said things got worse after he sought help for addiction and told the mogul he would like to be seen as more that just Geffen’s companion. That assertion triggered a breakdown in the relationship, he said.

Geffen’s legal team said the claims and lawsuit were “pathetic” and “false.” She insisted, “There was no contract — express, written, oral or implied — that has ever existed.”

Geffen, one of the most influential entertainment figures in modern history, built a formidable empire in music and film. He co-founded Asylum Records in 1971, Geffen Records in 1980 and was behind landmark signings such as Nirvana, Bob Dylan and the Eagles. In film, he helped produce Beetlejuice and co-founded DreamWorks Pictures alongside Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg in 1994. Openly gay since 1992, Geffen previously was in a high-profile relationship with pop icon Cher in the 1970s.

David Geffen’s relationship to Hip-Hop is minimal but has impacted the culture indirectly. Geffen Records eventually became part of the Interscope-Geffen-A&M umbrella, a powerhouse that included major Hip-Hop acts.

Fat Joe has filed a blistering amended complaint against attorney Tyrone Blackburn and former hype man Terrance Dixon, accusing them of launching a smear campaign with fabricated claims of sex trafficking, statutory rape and other serious crimes in what he calls an extortion attempt that cost him over $10 million.

The original lawsuit filed by Blackburn and Dixon accused Fat Joe of a five-year relationship with a 16-year-old girl named “Nikki,” alleging he flew her across state lines and internationally, implying sex trafficking violations.

The complaint also accused him of unpaid wages, ghostwriting theft and ordering violent retaliation against Dixon. The Bronx rapper claims the accusations were not only false but also weaponized to damage his reputation and force a payout.

According to documents obtained by AllHipHop, the damage was immediate and widespread, with endorsement deals, media appearances and business ventures abruptly canceled after the allegations surfaced.

A major television network pulled the plug on a $30,000 deal for three primetime appearances, citing “current events.” His podcast Joe & Jada lost three major sponsors, including one that backed out of a $675,000 advertising agreement.

Another dropped a $400,000 deal and a third canceled a $40,000 package—slashing the show’s ad revenue by more than 30%.

Fat Joe, who co-owns the men’s grooming brand Rewind It, said negotiations with three national retailers collapsed within days of the lawsuit’s filing.

He estimates personal losses of over $10 million from those deals alone, including $7 million from the largest retailer. Additional business partners also distanced themselves, leaving projects in limbo.

Fat Joe claims the duo used the accusations as leverage to get him to pay a multimillion-dollar settlement. He says they even threatened to involve Homeland Security if he didn’t comply.

The filing also directly targets Blackburn’s professional conduct. Federal judges have previously criticized Blackburn for what they described as “unethical” legal tactics, including filing lawsuits filled with “salacious allegations” meant to pressure quick settlements.

One judge said his filings were “replete with inaccurate statements of law” and “inappropriate ad hominem attacks.”

Adding to Blackburn’s troubles, he was arrested in June 2025 for felony assault after allegedly running over a process server with his vehicle while trying to avoid being served in this very case.

Fat Joe’s complaint also cites a police report involving Blackburn and his ex-girlfriend’s best friend. The woman told police Blackburn sent her threatening messages and made her “fear for her safety.”

She reportedly told officers she “does not know what Mr. Blackburn is capable of.”

Fat Joe is seeking at least $15 million in damages, along with injunctive relief and other remedies.

Set in 2003 Atlanta, Red Clay follows Nook, played by Christopher A’mmanuel, a teenager trying to break free from the cycle of poverty and addiction while his mother battles substance abuse.

The film explores themes of survival, loyalty and ambition in Black and brown communities shaped by systemic challenges.

Directed by Christian Nolan Jones—known for his short film Glitter Ain’t Gold—the project also stars Rutina Wesley and Jaylan Ragin.

Both 2 Chainz and Epps serve as executive producers, with the rapper describing the film as a personal creative outlet.

“I tell stories through my music, always hoping people feel empowered to overcome anything,” 2 Chainz said in a statement. “Red Clay is an extension of that. Atlanta is full of resilience, and bringing Nook and Bub’s story to life—everyday folks fighting to survive—means everything to me. Creating this with Omar Epps was truly legendary.”

The Cosby Show star, 54, died Sunday (July 20) after entering the water and being swept away, Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) confirmed.

A report listed the cause of death as “accidental asphyxiation by submersion.”

“The victim appears to have entered the sea and was apparently swept away by a current,” the OIJ said in a statement released July 21. “The man was rescued by bystanders and taken to shore, where he received treatment from the Costa Rican Red Cross. However, he was declared lifeless at the scene.”

Warner had been vacationing with family when the incident occurred. The OIJ said a funeral home, hired and approved by Warner’s relatives, will handle the transfer of his remains.

“The body will be removed from the Judicial Morgue by a funeral service company hired and authorized by Mr. Warner’s family,” the agency said in a statement on July 22.

Warner rose to national fame for his portrayal of Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, which aired from 1985 to 1992 and became a cultural touchstone.

His performance earned him an Emmy nomination and helped define the role of young Black men on television during that era.

He is survived by his wife and daughter.
