Imagine a conversation between KRS and Rakim. That is exactly what happened after the Masters of Ceremony concert in Newark New Jersey. The show touted The Lox, Ja Rule, Rakim, Mad Lion, Lords of the Underground, Black Moon, and other special guests like Rah Digga.

Drake, Nicki Minaj, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar & Fetty Wap Lead 2015 Year End Rap Charts

(AllHipHop News) Several Hip Hop acts had a strong year in 2015. Drake and J. Cole received platinum plaques for their respective projects, Nicki Minaj continued her dominance with her third LP, Kendrick Lamar provided the soundtrack to the Black Lives Matter movement, and Fetty Wap became the undisputed rookie of the year. Each of those rap stars were also highly ranked on several of Billboard’s Year End Charts for 2015.

On the “Top Artists” list, Drake landed at #4 and Nicki Minaj landed at #10. “Top New Artists” was led by Fetty Wap. Both Fetty and Drake found themselves among the “Top Male Artists”as well. Drake came in at #3, followed by Fetty at #4. Wiz Khalifa joined them on that chart at #9.

Fetty (#3) and Drake (#5) also broke into the top 10 of the “Hot 100 Artists.” Nicki just missed the top 10 on that chart (#12), but she earned a high spot on the “Top Female Artists” list. The “Truffle Butter” rapstress was ranked at #3. Even though neither singer released an official studio album this year, Beyoncé (#8) and Rihanna (#9) still charted among the top female performers of 2015.

The “Billboard 200 Artists” – which tallies albums – featured Drake at #2 and J. Cole at #10. In addition, Drake reached the pinnacle of the “Top R&B/Hip Hop Artists,” “Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums,” “Rap Album,” and Rap Album Artists charts.

Rick Ross & Floyd Mayweather Shout Each Other Out Online (PHOTOS)

(AllHipHop News) Social media has become the new platform for rappers to fire both blatant and subtle shots at their adversaries. So when Rick Ross posted a picture of himself wearing Floyd Mayweather’s “The Money Team” hat on Instagram was that Rozay just showing support for the boxing legend or was he sending a subliminal diss at his nemesis 50 Cent?

Mayweather showed love back to Ross on his own IG page. He wrote, “Thanks for the support [Rick Ross]. We will continue to support you also.”

Ross and 50 have been part of a back-and-forth beef for years. The MMG boss and the G-unit leader went at it again this year with IG being the main place where the conflict played out. In addition, 50 sued Ross for using his hit record “In Da Club” on the #RenzelRemixes mixtape.

Last year 50 also had an online spat with Mayweather. His constant clowning of Mayweather’s reading ability was in the headlines for weeks. Reportedly, the frenemies have since settled their issues, but the Queens native has often showed disdain for people connected to him acknowledging his rivals.

The Kanan Tape creator once targeted Slowbucks co-founder Windsor “Slow” Lubin after the fellow New Yorker posted a picture with 50 Cent’s estranged son Marquise Jackson and known 50 Cent foe Trav. 50 also famously kicked The Game out of G-Unit after the Compton emcee refused to get involved in the crew’s beef with other rappers like Nas, Fat Joe, and Jadakiss.

Kendrick Lamar Discusses Earning 11 Grammy Nominations & Defends Future As A Hip Hop Artist

(AllHipHop News) Even though his latest album came out nine months ago, Kendrick Lamar has been on a mini press run as of late. The new round of sit downs with media outlets is most likely due to the fact the California representative recently earned 11 Grammy nominations. That nomination total is the most of any artist this year, the most ever for a Hip Hop artist in one night, and the second most ever in one night behind Michael Jackson’s record of 12.

Kendrick’s most recent interview was with the New York Times. The “Alright” rapper covered numerous topics including his Grammy nods. K. Dot also spoke about his favorite rap music of 2015 where he defended Atlanta performer Future as a Hip Hop artist.

On Grammy nominations:

I wasn’t surprised. The Grammys have taste. They’ve had taste for a long time. I’m just more excited that they recognize the time and effort put into the project — gathering all these musicians in one place for six months to a year at a time. It is truly appreciated that they can hear the different influences inside the record.

That’s the biggest accomplishment as far as the nominations: that people recognize it as an album. It’s not just a collection [of songs]. We pride ourselves on that. I wanted it to be that body of work again the same way I did with my first record. This time around, I wanted to make sure that not only were the lyrics appreciated or the beats, but the musicianship, as far as my writing skills, my arrangements. That’s me challenging myself.

On his favorite rap music of the year:

Of course Future killed it. He smashed. Drake smashed. Future’s work ethic was crazy, his energy. This is the thing about hip-hop music and where people get it most misconstrued: It’s all hip-hop. You can’t say that just what I do is hip-hop, because hip-hop is all energies. James Brown can get on the track and mumble all day. But guess what: You felt his soul on those records…

I don’t know what makes them move on a personal level. I can’t knock it. It feels good when I listen to it, when I’m in that vibe. You feel it. You can get the highest level of that — you can get Future — or you can get the watered-down version, somebody else trying to be that. That’s the bad [expletive].

Meek Ain’t Coming At Drake On New Mixtape

I thought it would be silly for Meek to diss Drake. First of all, that’s old 2015 stuff. Leave it there. Secondly, he’s got a legal issue that probably calls for him cleaning up. Anyway, Meek’s people are revealing that he is not dissing Drizzy in “Dreamchasers 4.” Son is just dissing random Sucker MC’s like back in the day. What is interesting is Meek is talking about shooting somebody. That’s something you don’t hear too much off in these rappers. Nevertheless, good to see Meek doing some charity work in the hood, even if it is just because he is in trouble. Hopefully the judge won’t throw the book at him.

“Daddy’s Home” Serves Up Dependable If Not Outsized Comedic Fun

“Daddy’s Home” isn’t anything revolutionary when it comes to comedy, but this is more than okay with regards to what it is trying to achieve. It’s core strength is that it is happy to stay in its lane when it comes to what we can expect from both Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg as funny men doing age appropriate work after SNL and The Funky Bunch. Ferrell is the terminally uncool parent suddenly thrown into direct competition against the too cool for school Wahlberg as both vie for the label of “best dad”. Of course, in the complicated landscape that is today’s modern and heavily appendixed nuclear family, keeping a permanent lock on such a vaunted status or any other is nearly impossible. So, in trying to attain the unattainable, comedy ensues as we watch Ferrell and Wahlberg attempt do what we as parents attempt to do every day, only to rise again with the Sisyphean hope of better results tomorrow. In short, “Daddy’s Home” is a great movie for people surviving that hell that hath no fury like that of the child who feels inadequately loved.

While this movie is certainly a success when it comes to exploiting classic but modern familial territory, it really isn’t for kids. Much of the humor, while unquestionably satisfying is definitely nothing that you will relish explaining to your under twelve set, or even your more naïve under eighteens on the way home from the theater. So, unless it’s within your wheelhouse to explain to kids why strippers and women with daddy issues can be laugh out loud funny in the abstract but nothing fun to experience in real life, leave them at home with the sitter.

The scatological and more adult skewing mental humor is pretty good in “Daddy’s Home”. True, many of the more subtle situational elements could have been pushed a bit further to achieve a sharper bite, but that’s about narrower more specific tastes versus broad comedy, and this movie is definitely broad humor versus finely crafted or slyly observational laughs. To that end, the moments that are the laugh out loud best are those firmly rooted in some serious balls to the wall physical humor. In terms of where these gag bonanza scenes go, they deliver some great laughs. However, the impact of these payoffs are directly related to the element of surprise so try not to watch too many trailers as some reveal a bit too much of what makes these moments truly special.

If there is any danger with “Daddy’s Home”, it’s if moviegoers take it too seriously. If you look at the movie too closely from a logistical standpoint, it can start to crumble a bit – especially with regard to Wahlberg’s inexplicable vehicular mobility despite being established as an out of towner who isn’t the first son of oil sheiks or a rogue music mogul. However, if you take the movie for the light fare that it is – with a welcome dash of heart when it comes to the merits of a little bit of a dance battle going a long way in solving parent/student peace, it’s a pretty solid comedy.

With good ensemble acting throughout with unexpected cameos by way of Hannibal Buress and some other stand up all stars taking a welcome bow in the parent ‘hood depicted, “Daddy’s Home” is a yes when it comes to uncomplicated but grownup holiday fare.

K CAMP Says “Free Guwop” On New Single Produced By Zaytoven & Cassius Jay

K Camp, makes a case for the “Free Guwop” movement with his new single filmed with cameos by Gucci cut outs and more. While many people think of K Camp as an Atlanta artist, the Milwaukee bred rapper continues his push to be one of the most consistent young talents having recently been featured on Wiz Khalifa’s Cabin Fever 3 project. This track finds its home on You Welcome, K Camp’s most recent mixtape.

VIDEO: The Game Gets Stitches A Specal Christmas Gift

The Game and Stitches issue has been setting social media outlets on fire ever since Game’s manager knocked the belligerent Miami rapper out cold. You’d think that would’ve put an end to things but it most definitely has not. There has been continuous back and forth with Game taking to IG to roast his foe and Stitches coming right back saying this is exactly what he wanted and that he’d be willing to fight again.

Well, The Game now seems to be pretty much over the beef. When asked by paparazzi if he kept Stitches on his Christmas list, the LA rapper simply replies that he got him some gauze pads and alcohol. What a nice guy! Always the caretaker, huh, Game?

Remy Ma Talks Not Being Able To Forget Life Behind Bars

Remy Ma has opened up about the constant reminders she has of prison while living life on the outside. Since her release, Remy has taken on a staring role on Love and Hip Hop New York, has thrown a magnificent wedding and has been dropping new music without fail.

Everything seems to be on track for the New York native but some things are difficult for her to leave in the past.
“I do not necessarily have flashbacks, but daily things you do get into a routine,” Remy told Page Six. “Every day [at] 11 and 5:30 was ‘count time,’ so those are the things that would trigger me, when on the outside at that particular time.”

Even little things like household items can bring her back to her troubling time behind bars.

“I would say the biggest reminders I have of jail are seeing coolers. In jail, we were not allowed to have refrigerators, so we had to keep our food in coolers,” she continued. “Whenever I see a little blue cooler, I am like, ‘Oh, my God, not a cooler! I hate coolers!’ So there are certain items that . . . trigger the thought of jail.”

It can be hard getting adjusted but with the love and support she has from her husband, Papoose, her friends and family and her adoring fans Remy is well on her way to a whole new world of success and good fortune.

Fetty Wap Launches His Own Emoji Line

Fetty Wap was very generous this season, first gifting his fellow Remy Boy, Monty, with a brand new BMW and then gifting his fans with a whole emoji line dedicated to his image. Believe it or not they’re actually pretty great.

The line includes an array of Fetty characters as well as some little trap queens and pie cooking emojis. Check them out below:

The New Jersey native also took a page out of 2 Chainz‘ book and released a line of ugly Christmas sweaters too. See below:

Since his break into the mainstream Fetty Wap has been very popular among female hip hop fans and since we all know emojis are a girl’s best friend we can only assume that these Fetty inspired smileys will follow suit.

David Banner Releases A New Visual For “The Cross”

David Banner‘s upcoming album The God Box is currently scheduled to be released in February, but in the meantime he has decided to unveil some of the work that will not appear on the LP. One of those leftovers, “The Cross,” comes with a feature from X and production from Gensu Dean. The track finds Banner rhyming over driving production as he provides an inward-looking perspective and understanding of his faith and his vision, painting a clear picture of his current frame of mind. The God Box will reach us next year and it will come with contributions from Big K.R.I.T., Bun B, and more.

The God Box is currently available for pre-order via iTunes. Watch below.
