EXCLUSIVE! Rapsody: “Femcee” is a Derogatory Term

“It wasn’t until I got into the business that I understood how derogatory and separating the term is; and it takes you and puts you in this box…I came to not like the term at all. I just want to see myself as an MC. I’m just as good, if not better than some of you guys.”  -Rapsody

As she continues to share the depth of her voice as an MC, Rapsody, proves that she is truly inspired by her journey in rhyme. The North Carolina native’s student mentality reinforces her continued growth as a lyricist, and as an overall artist. A tangible spirit is infused into each sixteen that she spits. With bars enriched by empirical experiences, the Beauty and the Beast wordsmith uses her innate gift to share her perspective.

Within this exclusive interview, the Jamla Records representative explains why she believes the term “femcee possesses a pejorative meaning.  A momentary pause introduces her comment, “When it comes to emceeing– it’s all in your mind and in your brain; you use these words and music — and it’s an even playing field when you’re talking about that.” As the discussion delves deeper, she offers her insight on why she no longer views the term as empowering one.

Do your thoughts on the term “femcee” support or contradict those of Rapsody’s?

Chris Brown’s Aunt Claps Back At Wendy Williams?

Photo via Chris Brown’s Instagram

Chris Brown’s aunt is not pleased with Wendy Williams’ coverage about the robbery that took place at his mansion. She could be disappointed but surprised? Never! It’s Wendy Willams. Reports have stated that the robbery could’ve been orchestrated by people in Chris Brown’s circle as well as some party promoters. Either way, Brown’s aunt wants Wendy and you to know that she never opened the door for the intruders, and she was actually asleep when she was assaulted. She’s asked that Williams and the public stop plastering her photo everywhere with false reports. Perhaps Brown really has to be a lot more private and discreet.

DJ Khaled Says He Was Ripped Off By Fraudulent Jewelry Company?

Photo by Michael Kovac Getty Images Entertainment

Remember earlier this year New York jewelry company Rafaello & Company filed a lawsuit against DJ Khaled for failing to return two Rolex watches, a pair of diamond earrings, a four carat diamond ring, and a custom-made diamond chain. The jeweler claimed Khaled broke the deal of either returning the checked out items in 15 days or purchasing them. DJ Khaled has finally responded saying the jewelers ripped him off for hundreds of thousands by lying about the value of the jewelry. DJ Khaled has now denied all of the jewelry companies actions and filed a counter-suit against the company for fraud! Khaled pay those people their money! LOL.

Photo by Marcus Ingram Getty Images Entertainment

Uh oh! One of Rick Ross’ baby mamas is demanding a fatter child support check. He better give her some of that Wing Stop money! Tia Kemp, (not the leaked sex tape baby mama), wants to have Ross’ child support checks modified. She’s only been receiving $1,951 per month and says she needs and deserves more because Ross has:

– 9 successful Wingstop franchises
– $5.9 million mansion in Atlanta
– $5.1 million mansion in South FL
– Luc Belaire Rose sparkling wine and mCig electronic cigarette endorsement deals
– a recent hot-selling album (“Mastermind”)

Surprisingly, she is fine with getting the child support raised to $2,800. Now Ross’ knows he could do more than $2K.

BET Denies Bringing Back ‘Uncut’

While on the red carpet for BET’s first annual Player’s Awards last week, Pooch Hall of The Game confirmed with Black Sports Online that BET was bringing back Uncut, the late night show that aired videos too risque to be shown during the day. BET has now issued a statement saying they have no plans of reviving the show.

“During a taping of the first annual [NBA] Players Awards on Sunday in Las Vegas, The Game’s Pooch Hall spoke to Black Sports Online and confirmed the return of BET’s late night show. Contrary to Hall’s quote on the Red Carpet and numerous reports from Hip-Hop outlets, this is untrue. BET.com’s email to Black Sports Online was not returned.”

Uncut was cancelled in 2006 after a six-year run due to much backlash about its provocativeness.
