Flavor Flav Has Over 100 Pounds Of Fireworks Confiscated By Police on 4th of July

(AllHipHop News) What type of 4th of July party would you expect from a man who still wears a huge clock around his neck? This past Friday (July 4th), Flavor Flav had over 100 pounds of fireworks confiscated by Las Vegas police officers.

According to his neighbors of the 7800 block of Via Ventura Court on the south side of the Las Vegas Valley, Flav had multiple pallets of fireworks stacked 4 feet high and Flav claims he set most of them off to avoid police involvement. However, around 8 P.M. police responded to his neighbor’s complaints about the firework display, confiscated over 100 pounds of fireworks and gave two fireworks-related citations.

Flav has been holding firework displays during his annual Fourth of July parties since 2009 and was stopped by police last year when he planned to set off $8,000 worth of fireworks. Finisterre Homeowners Association board member Harold Ewing claims the police suggested the neighbors petition the district attorney’s office to get involved in regulating Flav’s behavior.

Flav stated to Las Vegas Review-Journal that he will move the party to another location next year.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Read Why DJ’s Hate Shaq Now….

DJ Diesel is HERE. (Insert Shaq Face!)

Shaq is now a celebrity DJ and I am hearing that all the “real” DJs are heated! I’ve gotten several emails from spin masters that are feeling a way that Shaq-Fu is now eating in a whole different manner. I say, “Let Shaq do Shaq.” He’s been a part of the culture for a long time. He hasn’t always been good with his Hip-Hop talents, but he’s been there in his honest form regardless. Now, we need to hear how he DJ’s!

Peep the images.

None of the images above are hosted on AllHipHop.com.

Remember when Shaq was a rapper? LOL!

He got a bit better by the time he got up with Wu:

Redman bodied this one back in the day…oh and Shaq was on it too.

Hip Hop Rumors: Jay-Z And Beyonce Cut All Ties From Ye and Kim?

Ok, so maybe Jay and Ye aren’t as close as they were, but is it because of Yeezy’s choice of who he decided to wife up?

OK! Magazine claims sources are saying that hip-hop’s favorite couple is fed up with having any ties with the newlyweds.

“An insider tells OK! that Jay Z and Beyonce have ceased all contact with pal Kanye West and his bride Kim Kardashian, who had spent the last two years pushing to get closer to the stars.

“When the rappers were on tour, Beyonce was forced to sit with Kim at shows and hang with her after, and she put up with it through gritted teeth,” says the source.

Now the newlyweds have even been spending more time at their New York apartment, just two blocks away from Jay and Beyonce’s home there, in a bid to get North to Bond with Blue Ivy. However, the insider says the superstars are fed up with being associated with the Kardashian brand.

“Bey and Jay feel like they’ve been dragged through the mud with all the drama surrounding their absence at the Kimye wedding,” says the source, adding that Jay has actually been moving away from his former BFF for some time. “Jay made it clear to Kanye that he doesn’t approve of the choices hes making in his personal life and it will end in disaster for his career.””

Hip Hop Rumors: Solange Breaks Her Silence!

FINALLY! We get insight on why the elevator beatdown took place….SIKE.

PageSix reports:

“In an interview with Lucky Magazine, Beyoncé’s singer sister glosses over her infamous elevator beatdown of brother-in-law Jay Z, calling the shocking showdown “that thing.”

“What’s important is that my family and I are all good,” said Solange, who got dolled up in ’60s chic for the mag’s August issue. “What we had to say collectively was in the statement that we put out, and we all feel at peace with that.””

Sighs. From the looks of things we’ll never get any answers, at least not the ones we want. If only the tape had audio…#inaperfectworld.

Tyler Perry Wins Trademark Battle For "What Would Jesus Do"

(AllHipHop News) If you’re wondering What Would Jesus Do on stage, in a movie and/or on TV, it will more than likely be a Tyler Perry Production. Recently, Tyler Perry was awarded the trademark for “What Would Jesus Do” after a four year legal battle with reality TV star Kimberly Kearney.

According to documentation with the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, Kearney claims to have first applied for the trademark for “What Would Jesus Do”. Kearney claims Perry stole her idea and only attempted to trademark “What Would Jesus Do” after meeting with her about the idea:

Not many months after sharing this program and soliciting [Perry] for financial support of this program, [Perry] filed to register this mark; consequently, eventually resulting in this cancellation proceeding.

Perry registered the mark back in May 2008, months after Kearney had filed the mark for a reality TV series. Perry’s mark was registered for a TV series, live concert and a movie.

Even though Kearney provided evidence of starting a web page to gather auditions for the show, Perry’s request for her trademark being abandoned was granted after Kearney failed to admit certain allegations. According to documents related to the case, Perry’s attorneys requested Kearney admit that she did not intend to make a television show, did not take meetings for such a show and did not produce a show under the name “What Would Jesus Do”. Since Kearney “did not timely answer [Perry]’s Requests for Admission, the facts included are deemed admitted and are ‘conclusively established” according to the administrative judges presiding over the trademark case.

Kimberly Kearney appeared in the 2008 VH1 reality show I Want to Work for Diddy.

Ja Rule Says 50 Cent Claims To Be A Victim, Addresses Slowbucks/50 Cent Feud + MORE (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Ja Rule on Hot 97 speaking about feud with 50 Cent ; 2003 on repeat. While promoting his new book, Unruly, Ja Rule spoke on his past feud with 50 Cent, addressed 50’s current beef with Slowbucks and more on Hot 97’s Ebro In The Morning.

Back in mid-June of this year, 50 Cent claimed to be the victim of false accusations of being a bully, because “All [the public] hears is the shot, they don’t see the person get slapped before it gets to that point.” Ja Rule references 50 Cent’s interview with Power 106 FM’s Big Boy’s Neighborhood back in mid-June

Now when I say in the book, that he insinuated to the FEDS and to the authorities that Murda Inc and whoever had something to do with him being shot, people say ‘Ja’s crazy.’ I’m not crazy. I’m telling you what homeboy did.

Ja Rule later claims to not admire anything about 50 Cent and claims only his debut album Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ was good. While those feelings remain true, Ja did state to understanding 50 Cent’s side in his feud with Slowbucks:

I’m not at all condoning anything that 50 does, because me and him don’t rock like that. But, I understand his plight with [Slowbucks]. With the whole his son…putting his son on Instagram. You don’t play with the kids. When it gets down to the kids, it becomes a different issue. Sh*t happens, it’s Hip-Hop.

Kanye West Reportedly Debuted 20 New Tracks At London Club

(AllHipHop News) Talk about a new Kanye West album being in the works has been ongoing for months, and according to a few people present at a London club, the G.O.O.D. Music emcee finally shared some of his new music.

West was in London to headline the Wireless Festival. During his time in the city he jumped behind the booth at a late night venue and reportedly played 20 new tracks for the private party. A few local residents were able to hear the music and mentioned the experience on Twitter and Instagram.

The tracks were referred to as  “dark,” “hellish,” and “ground-shaking” by local DJ Jason Powell. There is no confirmation that the music Kanye supposedly presented is from an upcoming project, but those descriptions are similar to the ones other sources have used to describe Kanye’s next album. One told Billboard Ye’s latest album tracks are “a mixture of soul samples and tamed ‘Yeezus’-esque darkness.”

Producer and Kanye collaborator Evian Christ stated Ye was asking for tracks with a sound “a bit like Otis Redding, a bit like Mobb Deep” for his Yeezus follow-up. Rsonist of The Heatmakerz told AllHipHop.com the production team sold a track to Kanye last year that was “like an ‘Otis’ [off of Watch The Throne] type of feel –  ‘Otis’ on steroids.”

Cipha Sounds Says He's Done With The Morning Show

(AllHipHop News) Hot 97’s Cipha Sounds has been a mainstay on New York City morning airwaves for years. The veteran DJ is now looking to move out of that time slot for another gig.

During the recent Juan Epstein podcast, Cipha expressed his interest in taking over the 3 pm period on Hot. That time became vacant after Angie Martinez took a position at Power 105.

“I’m not coming back to mornings,” said Cipha.

The Morning Show co-host has been filling in during the afternoon. He mentions that he is “auditioning” for the permanent position, but other potential female hosts have been interviewed as well.

With Ciph potentially leaving the morning spot, names for the new show have been discussed at the station. Peter Rosenberg revealed interim program director Jay Dixon is considering renaming it “Ebro In The Morning with Rosenberg.”

Both Rosenberg and Cipha also discuss how the new boss at the station allegedly did know that Cipha was a personality at Hot and was unaware of his connections with established artists. They do think Ciph has a good chance of being Martinez’s fulltime replacement.

Cipha also shares that he was presented with a job offer from Power twice in the past. According to Ciph, the first proposal would have started him in the afternoon at 105 and then he would transition to the channel’s morning show. This was prior to the creation of the current Breakfast Club lineup for Power.

He also claims he was offered double his salary from Power. There are now reports that Angie Martinez’s salary was doubled to joined the rival channel.

“How could I ever leave Hot 97? What would Angie and Flex think of me if I left Hot?” Cipha said explaining why he stayed at the station. “I’d be a f**king embarrassment… Angie’s like ‘Yo, I’m out. When Angie left I was like, ‘This f**king b***h.'”

Cipha explains the sarcastic “b***h” comment was just his reaction for him passing on a position at Power because he thought Angie would be upset, but she was the one who jumped on the chance to make the move.

The 20th Anniversary 2014 Essence Festival Brings Out The Stars! Prince and More Headline

Essence hit it big again this year for their 20th anniversary. The Essence Festival’s 20th anniversary set a record for annual attendance, with more than 550,000 participants celebrating four days of R&B music, community, and black culture between the New Orleans’ convention center and the Mercedes Benz Superdome. The festival attracted 10,000 more people than the 2013 festival that was closed out by a sold out Beyonce encore performance.

Essence Communications Inc. president Michelle Ebanks said she woke up to a great sense of pride following the 2014 Essence Festival celebration.

Over 80 musical performances highlighted by Prince, Lionel Richie, Charlie Wilson, Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Janelle Monae, The Roots and more highlighted the festival. The convention center also hosted more than 150 speakers addressing everything from solutions to crime and violence to growing entrepreneurs.

Some of our AllHipHop team volunteered with 200 young girls and boys that participated in the #YesWeCode initiative that Prince partnered with over the weekend. The initiative targets low opportunity children and teaches them how to code and create their own apps that can change the community.

Essence executives thanked Mayor Mitch Landrieu for the city’s ongoing partnership. Both the city and Essence stated that they are committed to locking the festival into a new deal.

R&B crooner Trey wooed the ladies as usual with his vocals, solid band, and handsome looks. His lead guitarist led some amazing solos as well. Songz, eager to please, came out of his t-shirt at last for his female fans. Rapper Nas, Thursday’s headliner, performed an entertaining set as fans helped him celebrate the 20th anniversary of his debut album Illmatic. He remarked that he loved ESSENCE for recognizing the influence of Hip Hop. Jazmine Sullivan sang her entire heart out running through a couple of her hits that reminded fans why they fell in love with the Philly native in the first place.

Friday night belonged to LEGEND PRINCE! Prince brought the house down as he performed hit after hit after hit during his 24 song set. Halfway into his set he stated, “That was just he sound check.” and “Do you know how many hits I have?” Prince delivered an electrifying performance then left the stage abruptly. Just as fans wondered and worried it could be over, they joined forces to chant “Purple Rain, Purple Rain.” The singer then returned to the stage to close out with his 1984 hit “Purple Rain.” The main stage also turned into a funk royalty jam when Prince and Nile Rodgers teamed up to cover David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance.”

90s R&B legends SWV held down the Superlounge on Friday performing hits like “Right Here (Human Nature). SWV is one the world’s top selling female R&B groups of all time, and over the weekend they reminded fans why!

The Queen of R&B and Hip Hop soul, Mary J. Blige brought down the house from main stage on Saturday, performing all of her classic hits including “Real Love”, “You Remind Me”, “Not Gon’ Cry”, “I’m Going Down” and more. Blige rocked the dome with effortless precision. Fans were out of their seats dancing and singing during the entire set. Blige represented nearly all of her 12 albums found in her discography this night. The powerfully raw singer closed with her hit “Family Affair.” Fans rocked and jammed all the way out of the Superdome.

90′s R&B crooner Tevin Campbell hit the stage of the Superlounge performing his hits “Can We Talk”, “Always in My Heart”, and “SHHH (Break It Down).” Campbell proved that he “still has it” in two ways: vocals, and the fact that he packed out the entire room of the Superlounge. When he began singing crowd favorite, “Can We Talk” he asked the audience to let him sing his song, and for them to come in on the hook.

90s favorite, R&B quartet 112, held down the Superlounge Saturday bringing the heat as they performed some of their most classic dance tracks like “It’s Over Now.”

Sunday Uncle Charlie Wilson and Lionel Richie held down the main stage in classic legend form. Uncle Charlie showed fans once again that he is a true performer. The music industry’s famous uncle is 61 but you wouldn’t know it from the way he shows up and shows out every time he hits the Essence main stage. At one point Wilson and crew hit the stage to perform in suits embellished with LED lights. Wilson’s energy level had fans in awe. It seemed as if the dancers had to keep up with him. 61 is the new 20. Uncle Charlie brought the crowd to the dance floor, to the bedroom, and to church.

Lionel Richie had a nice set, although it was tough to follow Charlie Wilson. His band gave some pretty solid guitar solos. Richie proceeded to give a nice run of Commodores favorites that were ultimately the highlight of the show. Richie pleased the crowd with “Zoom,” “Brick House” and “Hello” as well.

Erykah Badu also helped Essence Festival celebrate their 20th anniversary by performing her hits like “On & On” and “Next Life Time.” The neo-soul chanteuse boomed with the backing of her live band and even kicked a freestyle for fans. After jokingly saying goodnight to her fans, the soul singer eased into her classics “I Choose You”, “Next Lifetime”, “Apple Tree”, “Love of My Life”, and Tyrone.

Fans were also treated to the likes of performances by Day 26, Doug E. Fresh, Jagged Edge, Elle Varner, Estelle, Sevyn Streeter, Kelly Price, Liv Warfield, Michelle Williams, Naughty By Nature, August Alsina, Raheem DeVaughn, and more in the Superlounges.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Somebody Hates Ja Rule And It Ain’t 50 Cent!

The word on the streets of the streets is that Ja Rule is not in good standing with some people that he used to be very cool with. I’m told that former Murder Inc muscle – Black Ty and Black Child – have a bone to pick with Ja if the rumors are correct. Remember them?

Here is Black Child:

And here is Caddillac Tah:

Anywhere, I am hearing some stuff on the streets and streets say BlackChild and Tah feel very strongly that Ja Rule ripped them off out of money. Like, some serious bread. Now, I am not sure exactly where this money was derived from, but I am being told that a ways back BlackChild was looking for Ja. He basically said – according to my source – that when and if he saw Ja, it would definitely be a physical confrontation. Now, a ways back I had heard there would be a reunion of Murder Inc, but clearly this rumor dispels that. I am going with this source, because they know what they are talking about, from what I understand. Anyway, Ja Rule seems to be loving his life. Dude is all over the place and smiling every step of the way. Maybe, its because his pockets are fat, not flat.
