(AllHipHop News) News broke recently that producer Scott Storch had been robbed outside New York City’s Platinum Studios. The 39-year-old creator of tracks like Lil Kim’s “Lighter’s Up” and Chris Brown’s “Run It!” confirmed on RapFix Live yesterday that the stick-up did take place.
“I was coming out of the studio around like seven in the morning and just unexpectedly, two 7-foot thugs came out of nowhere and bam, they got me… gunpoint,” Storch told MTV’s Sway Calloway. “They said give it up or they was gonna shoot and had the gun like pressed up on me and everything. It was crazy.”
Storch lost a $50,000 diamond necklace, a $50,000 Rolex and an associate’s briefcase containing $5,000 in cash. Storch hopes the incident serves as a warning to other celebrities in NYC for MTV’s Video Music Awards.
“People are on the hunt right now. There’s a lot of chains and watches out there when the VMA’s are on, so people gotta make sure their security is right,” said Storch.
(AllHipHop News) Last week Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams, and Clifford “T.I.” Harris filed a lawsuit against the family of the late soul singer Marvin Gaye. The suit was an attempt by the trio to prevent the Gaye family from suing them first over the mega hit “Blurred Lines” which the Gayes say was blatantly inspired by Marvin’s music.
“There’s a way to do business and a way not to do business, and we’re not happy with the way he went about doing the business,” Marvin Gaye III told TMZ. “Let alone he’s suing us over something where he clearly got his inspiration from at the least.”
In the interview Marvin III says that he currently suffering from kidney failure and Thicke’s lawsuit is causing duress on him and his entire family. He also mentions that this legal matter is taking away time for him to promote his own music project, but felt he needed to step up and defend the legacy of his father.
“If you listen to the music, I’m sure anyone will see the similarities between what my father does and what Robin Thicke has been trying to do,” said Gaye.
Gaye would not confirm whether he or any other family member is planning to sue Thicke over “Blurred Lines,” but he did reveal he has been speaking with his lawyer about the situation.
(AllHipHop News) J. Cole fans looking for the visuals for his Born Sinner song “Crooked Smile” will have to wait just a little while longer. The Roc Nation emcee revealed in an interview with MissInfo.tv that he is going to redo the video.
“We have to reshoot it,” said Cole. “It came out nice but it just didn’t come out exactly how I wanted. It’s such an important song so I want the visual to match. If this was my first video then I would have panicked.”
The North Carolina native also shares his opinion that Seattle rapper Macklemore may have provided a lane for black rappers to break into non-Hip Hop radio markets.
“I think Macklemore’s ‘Thrift Shop’ gave me hope for a song like [“Crooked Smile”]. I think he kinda… as weird as it is, and it’s always happens like this, the white boys got to open the door for black people at white radio,” said Cole. “It happened with Elvis, Eminem, Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, and now hopefully Macklemore with a song like ‘Thrift Shop’ can allow ‘Crooked Smile’ to get its proper shine at Pop radio.”
(AllHipHop News) In 2012 Jay Z added another line to his impressive resume when he took on the role of curator for the Made In America Festival. The first annual event was captured on film by Oscar-winning director Ron Howard, and now a documentary about the festival is set to debut at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. The movie was co-produced by Jay Z, Steve Stoute, and Brian Grazer.
“This will not be a concert film,” Howard told AllHipHop.com in 2012. “It’s a reflection of the fabric of what it means to be Made in America – what the festival represents, why Jay is doing it and how he relates to each artist.”
“Made in America is the soundtrack to pursuing your passion, excelling at your craft, being authentic and embracing cultural diversity,” added Stoute. “It’s the tapestry that ignites new ideas and brings us all closer together. That’s what we’re setting out to accomplish with this festival and film.”
The first Made In America featured performances from Jay, Rick Ross, Drake, Jay Electronica, Run-DMC, and a surprise closing night set from the G.O.O.D. Music crew.
The 2013 edition of the Philadelphia fest is scheduled for August 31 – September 1. The line-up includes Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, Schoolboy Q, A$AP Rocky, Wiz Khalifa, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Miguel, Public Enemy, Solange, and Emeli Sandé.
(AllHipHop News) Was it the recent controversy that took Kendrick Lamar over the top?
Nevertheless, the Compton rapper has made a big leap as his major label debut, good kid, m.A.A.d city, has been certified platinum.
SoundScan reports that the opus has moved a total of 1,002,000 units.
The album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and held the second slot on the big Billboard 200 when it dropped last November.
It pushed 241,000 copies during its first week.
Kendrick Lamar has largely been quiet since Big Sean released his song “Control,” where Kendrick called out several of his peers and proclaimed himself the “King of New York.”
(AllHipHop News) Drake’s long awaited third album Nothing Was The Same was pushed back a week to September 24th but Drake didn’t make fans wait to see the album covers.
Drake opts for portraits of himself as a child and as a man for his album covers. Chances are one of the covers will be for the deluxe version of Nothing Was The Same. He released the album covers on his personal Twitter account.
(AllHipHop News) Kanye West is not out of the legal woods yet even though he will not face felony charges after a scuffle with a paparazzi videographer at LAX.
High-powered celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred will now represent celebrity chaser Daniel Ramos in hopes of gaining more traction in his effort against the rapper/producer.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Allred and Ramos held a press conference Wednesday where they outlined their grievances. Allred even suggested that Ramos would accept an apology as a big first step to resolution. “That would be a start. Kanye needs to do the right thing,” Allred said.
Ramos charges in his complaint that he has suffered “great mental, physical and nervous pain and suffering” and was “was prevented from attending to his usual occupation as a photographer and has suffered, and will suffer, lost earnings.”
A recent run in NYC, Rihanna told her fans to “back it da fucc up.” This chick is so funny to me. She basically sh*tted on her adorning fans – in their very face. All they wanted was maybe a touch or something. But, its clear that Rihanna doesn’t need any bodyguard because nary one person stepped out of line. See, that would have been the illness there: If somebody had jumped on RiRi’s back like a bird flu-infested monkey! LOL! Heck out the video below.
Is it me or was Rihanna listening to Onyx before shopping?
Listen to Onyx’s whole 1993 debut album Bacdafucup below:

The saying “A mind is a terrible thing to waste” resonates for young rapper, G Milla. Always a rebellious, kid, G was kicked out of his house on several occasions and spent much of his time bouncing from couch to couch.
Being raised on the streets of Toronto and often having to fend for himself, he found solace and consistency in music, with major influences stemming from MF Doom, Nas and The Doors to name a few. It wasn’t long before G Milla hit the lowest point of his life. With nowhere to live, no real sense of family, and facing difficulty with addiction, he decided to make a change for the better. Rapping and writing came easy, provided therapy and allowed G to realize his full potential. Since recording his music in studio, he has appeared on multiple blogs and performed at local shows.
Mike Tyson returns to boxing, but not as he was in the 80’s and 90’s. During that time, the champ was a fierce warrior, beloved by most, loathed by some yet known by all. Hip-Hop in particular took a special affinity for the Brooklyn-bred pugilist and he was decidedly of the culture unlike other champs of the period. Everybody from LL Cool J to Will Smith to Kool G Rap name dropped Mike Tyson and he continues to ring bells in the annals of history. But, Tyson is still creating history these days. Recently he wrapped a one-man play that toured the nation and he’s started his own promotions company, Iron Mike Productions.
Iron Mike Productions (or IMP) is a new company that will host its first fight this Friday on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights and it has the champ expanding his brand deep into the business side of boxing. Azim Spicer, Director of Operations for Iron Mike Productions, talked to AllHipHop about the inner workings of the Las Vegas-based company, Iron Mike’s real role and how they will be different from the other companies the champ has dealt with in the past.
AllHipHop.com: Tell me about Iron Mike Productions and how its different from other companies?
Azim Spicer: Iron Mike Productions was created when Craig “Boogie” Jones introduced me to Steve Marcano and Gary Jonas of Acquinity Sports. Acquinity had been operating for over 2 years and had already developed a Super Featherweight Champion in Argenis Mendez. So me and Boogie flew out to Miami, where Acquinity is located, to check everything out. We were very impressed by the fighters on the roster and the organization so we were able to give Mike a good report. From there we went back to Miami to introduce everyone to Mike and signed the deal. Only time will tell how different we may be from other boxing promotion companies, but our starting principles are total transparency business with our fighters and to create competitive fights.
How will he be involved?
Mike Tyson is the President and a 50/50 partner of Iron Mike Productions. He is hands on every decision made day by day. Everything from what fighters we sign, how we should fight them, to the hiring of our office staff.
What’s it like working with him?
I enjoy working with him. I feel honored to be in this position. We got an opportunity to help a lot of young boxers learn about the business and protect their money. But you got to have “thick skin” working with Mike. He doesn’t hold back if things aren’t running as they should. Its not like he yells or anything like that, but you can feel his intensity and know you better step it up. He takes this business very serious and expects his team to as well. He wants to win!
Do you think “Iron” Mike will be able to bring people back to boxing, because a lot of fans have left since he was in the ring.
Boxing is hurting a bit but its not all that bad. The biggest UFC or MMA fight still hasn’t reached the level of a Boxing Championship PPV fight. But boxing fans need to be entertained. It can’t be protected prospects fighting against bums under the same promotion company. People are on to that. So IMP (Iron Mike Productions) is dedicated to putting on competitive fights and challenging our fighters while giving the fans what they deserve. We believe that we got some future PPV stars on our roster and we can’t wait to share them with the fans. Plus we got some exciting entertainment ideas to incorporate with the fights. I think the fans will come out to see what Iron Mike has up his sleeves.

Mike is an iconic figure. What are you thoughts on how he’ll leverage this with his core base in Hip-Hop that stayed fans in good and bad time.
We plan on reaching out to the hip-hop community. Mike obviously is a hip-hop icon so we feel confident that the base will continue to support his efforts.
Does he expect to pull any rappers to help push his fights.
Absolutely…stay tuned.
Check out some of Mike Tyson’s greatest knockouts. The story continues below.
Tell me about this upcoming fight and some of the expectations.
This is a big fight for us as a company. ESPN actually extended their Friday Night Fights schedule an extra week to accommodate us. Argenis Mendez is defending his IBF super featherweight title, while Claudio Marrero is fighting for the Vacant WBA Featherweight title. We expect them both to win. Plus undefeated Bantamweight, Alexei Collado and our undefeated Super Featherweight, Albert Bell, is also on the card. We are very excited for them as well.
Mike recently tweeted he’ll “work with anybody.” What’s on deck for the company.
Right now we are looking for straight killers in the ring to add to our already talented roster. Mike is personally looking for the next great heavyweight. So if you out there get at us.
Final words?
Tune in on August 23rd on ESPN Friday Night Fights for Iron Mike Productions first fight.
I know some of you are going to laugh at the notion that these are “hip-hop babies,” but I’m thinking that statement is at least half right.
Rasheeda, who is an actual rapper that’s also a star on “Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta” is about to drop her little biscuit. Her water broke and she’s in labor so I’m sure VH1 has fired up the team down there to start shooting the next season of the ratchet show. I’m wondering what ever happened with her and her husband dude, who questioned whether or not it was his. Rumor was she may have gotten knocked up by Scrappy. Anyway……………!
Kirk looks like he’s gotta go to jail the day after this picture was taken.
She used to be White Girl Mobbin’ chick Kreayshawn and she is close to popping. But, she is reportedly due next month.

T-Pain is all on Twitter so I’m thinking he may address this rumor directly. But, I am hearing that T-Pain has “found God” or is in the midst of some sort of religious revival. Now, I admit, I don’t know anything about his beliefs – past or present. I’ve not stalked his twitter either, but I’m hearing a change is on the way.
This video below is something that T-Pain reportedly has an affinity for.
Speaking of T-Pain. Look at him and Tech N9ne:
Maybe he’s not fully converted. LOL!

Aw, the Ill Community found a good one this time! She knew that French Montana was a damn battle rapper years ago! He should have replied to Kendrick Lamar! This was really funny to me, because I really had no idea. Back in the day, Kendrick and the Coke Boyz got down a bit differently. The used to partake in the Fight Klub-type battles. Look at the witty and skinny French Montana battle it out towards the end of the video.
Big Sean’s sophomore album Hall of Fame will arrive in stores on August 27th and he stopped by Sirius XM Radio’s Hip Hop Nation for contest winners and fans
