DMX Arrested For Marijuana Possession, Issues Statement Refuting

(AllHipHop News) According to TMZ, DMX was arrested last night (August 20th) in South Carolina for possession of marijuana following a traffic stop due to an illegal U-turn being made by the vehicle DMX was in. The police claim they found marijuana on the arm rest, smelled marijuana on the Yonkers MC and found three more bags of marijuana under the car’s floor board following a search.

DMX was jailed in Greer County, SC and released earlier today (August 21st) under house arrest stemming from a warrant issued for his arrest for previous charges.

TMZ also reported that DMX suffered a mild asthma attack, but was ok after paramedics responded to the scene.

DMX’s publicist contacted AllHipHop and issued a statement refuting these claims alleging that DMX was never shown the bags of marijuana retrieved from the vehicle:

DMX was driving in the passenger seat when the vehicle he was in was pulled over last night. Although officers pulled them over for a minor traffic violation, DMX was asked to step outside so they can search the vehicle. Officers then claimed that they found bags of marijuana in the floorboard and arrested X. No drugs were found on DMX or the other passengers and the alleged bags of marijuana were never shown to DMX or the other passengers. DMX was released this morning at approximately 11am EST and is back at his home in South Carolina.

There is no word on how long DMX will be under house arrest.

Snoop Dogg In Trouble With The NCAA For Meeting With College Player

(AllHipHop News) Whether he’s a lion, dog or Rastafarian, Snoop Lion is 1. a celebrity and 2. a huge fan of the USC Trojan college football team. According to reports, Snoop may have participated in an NCAA violation after he allegedly met with prospective running back Silas Redd.

Michigan journalism professor John U. Bacon’s new book Fourth and Long about the inner workings of the Big 10 conference alleges that Snoop Lion was illegally used in the wooing of Redd to join USC. According to the book, In 2012 USC head coach Lane Kiffin flew Redd from Conneticut to California in a Mercedes private jet where he was met with a limo and Snoop Lion.

Redd agreed to transfer from Penn State to USC after that meeting.

The NCAA has extremely strict guidelines on recruiting procedures and using a celebrity to influence a prospective player’s decisions is a violation. However, USC issued a statement refuting the allegations:

Silas Redd has never met Snoop Dogg, much less received a ride from him in any type of vehicle. USC head coach Lane Kiffin picked up Silas from the airport on his recruiting visit

Reports of Snoop Lion’s son, wide receiver Cordell Broadus being offered to play for USC appeared three months before Redd committed to USC.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Peep Why Kanye Turned Down American Idol!

Who knew Kanye West was concerned about his street fred? A year or so ago, I heard Kanye was concerned with his street credibility. This is right around the time he jumped on that remix with Chief Keef. My sources told me that was a pretty overt move to stay on it with the streets. But, American Idol means a massive audience. US Weekly is stating that Kanye say no to “Idol,” because he didn’t want to lose what street cred he’s built up.

“He didn’t want to go that mainstream. He didn’t want to lose any street cred. So he turned it down.”

I’m not fully convinced of this sources cred.

Hip-Hop Rumors: The Real Reason Death Row Failed?

Whoa…whoa. This is one for the ages. But, the dudes over at HSK are reporting that Suge Knight is illiterate. And they are saying that this factored into why Death Row crumbled. Suge Knight went to college as a football star, but they alleging that the scary man was allowed to get by off his sports skills. I know this has happened with so many other athletes but they don’t go on to be music industry moguls. HSK say a source of theirs recently met Suge and asked him for an autograph. Her name was “Yolanda” and he asked her how to spell that.

“A lot of people don’t know this — but Suge can’t read or write. The real reason why Suge lost Death Row Records was because of his illiteracy.”

I’m not sure how real this is to be honest. because Suge is some form of intelligent for what he made happen in Hip-Hop. Illiterate? I don’t know.
