Kalan.FrFr Explains Why “Relationships Suck” As He Plugs “High Vibrations” Single

“High Vibrations” is featured on Kalan.FrFr’s latest six-song EP, Not Hard 2 Understand.

South Central’s Kalan.FrFr is touching the soul and lifting spirits with his new single “High Vibrations,” a modern-day romantic record that basks in poetically confessional lyrics about showing and receiving love with that special woman.

The unique but meticulously picked out vocal sample from iconic poets Nikki Giovanni and James Baldwin taken from a 1971 recorded conversation in London doesn’t go unnoticed. The sample is from a well-known chat the two had about the contrasting dynamics in relationships.

About the inspiration behind the using this sample, Kalan says, “I saw the Nikki and James Baldwin clip on Instagram and it spoke to me. Relationships suck. If you love me, you love me. Let’s leave all the outside noise out and just figure it out together.“

Directed by Terrius Mykel, the video shows Kalan.FrFr picking up the pieces of a broken relationship, offering a more promising future to a woman and encouraging healthy love.

“High Vibrations” is featured on Kalan.FrFr’s latest six-song EP, Not Hard 2 Understand, in which the charismatic yet laidback storyteller combines a clever mix of punchlines and flexes. The latest single comes on the heels of the Mustard produced “Ain’t Nothin” and “Don’t Move” featuring Detroit rapper Tay B.
