Kid Cudi has had an eventful last several days. In addition to finally settling a longstanding feud with Lupe Fiasco, the Cleveland-born rapper continues to promote his new Insano album and must contend with the public’s opinion.
Cudi’s ninth studio LP has received mostly positive reviews from professional critics (it currently maintains a 64/100 score on Metacritic.com). Pitchfork, however, gave Insano a 4.6/10 rating.
“Who is writing these Pitchfork reviews??” one Cudi fan posted on Twitter (X). The @OG_ColinJohnson account also tweeted, “@KiDCuDi, they did you dirty man. They must hand out the album review work to the biggest hater for every new album out lol.”

Kid Cudi quote-tweeted the post and added, “Hahah I loveeee it. When I die they’ll still have to deal [with] my awesome. I’m not goin anywhere. The music is FOREVER. The arena tours will still sell out. And I will always know that I came in the game and infected it [with] that s###.”
The recording artist/actor also tweeted, “Based on their ratings of my albums, I should’ve lost my career years ago. Their opinion never holds any weight. I encourage y’all not to read reviews. It’s a waste of time. Listen for [yourself]. Same [with] movies. I never care about the rating, if it has some [of] my favorite actors in it and I like the plot, I’m watching.”

Insano arrived on January 12 with 21 tracks featuring the likes of DJ Drama, Travis Scott, A$AP Rocky, Lil Yachty, Pharrell Williams, Lil Wayne, Young Thug and the late XXXTENTACION. Additionally, production was provided by Kid Cudi, Dot da Genius, Pharrell Williams and others.
Kid Cudi’s previous albums include 2010’s Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, 2016’s Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’ and 2022’s Entergalactic. His 2009 debut studio LP, Man on the Moon: The End of Day, is widely considered a Hip-Hop classic.
“I want people to arguably have the debate about my s### being one of the best albums of the year. I didn’t want to have any doubts,” Kid Cudi said about Insano. “I wanted to make something that was completely undeniable.”
