Kodak Black threw rocks at a news crew and threatened to punch a reporter after he was released from jail in Florida.

Kodak Black avoided more legal problems following his release from jail. According to Miami’s ABC affiliate, photojournalist Bryan Murphy decided not to press charges against the rapper for pelting the photographer with a rock.

Earlier this week, Kodak threw rocks at a local news crew covering his jail release. One of the rocks struck Murphy in the ribs. Murphy filed an incident report with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.

Kodak also threatened to punch a reporter after walking out of Broward County Jail on Wednesday (February 21). He spent more than two months behind bars following his December 2023 arrest.

The 26-year-old artist was initially accused of cocaine possession, but prosecutors charged him with oxycodone possession in January. His lawyer Bradford Cohen filed a motion to dismiss the charge, arguing that Kodak had a prescription for oxycodone. A judge granted Cohen’s request, throwing out the drug charge on February 9. Kodak remained in custody due to a probation violation.

Kodak finally secured his release by pleading guilty to failure to report police contact. A judge sentenced him to time served, allowing him to walk free on Wednesday.

The next day, Cohen criticized media outlets for focusing on negative stories about his client. Cohen believed Kodak’s charitable efforts were overlooked.

“I’m sure the mainstream won’t carry it,” Cohen wrote on Instagram. “TMZ will probably only run something negative. But we know how Kodak Black moves and what he’s been doing since day one. It’s a shame when people only want negativity on someone.”

According to Cohen, Kodak pledged to donate to the college fund of a slain police officer’s children. The officer was one of three first responders killed in a shooting in Minnesota on Sunday (February 18). The suspected shooter was found dead. A medical examiner determined he died by suicide.
