Diddy became the center of courtroom tension Thursday (June 12) as federal prosecutors moved to disqualify a juror in his high-profile trial, accusing the man of misleading the court.
The government claims Juror #6, a Black man, failed to be truthful during jury selection. Prosecutors cited a “lack of candor” and said they were “reluctant” to raise the issue but felt “compelled” to act.
The defense fired back, arguing the juror’s removal would disproportionately affect the racial makeup of the panel. They said Juror #6 is one of the few Black individuals seated.
Defense attorneys for Diddy requested time to file a written objection and examine relevant legal precedents before any ruling was made.
Judge Arun Subramanian has not yet issued a decision and will consider arguments from both sides before determining whether to dismiss the juror.
The exact nature of the alleged dishonesty remains sealed and the court has not released further details. Juror #6 remained on the panel for at least one day while the matter remained unresolved.
The dispute over the juror has raised concerns about the potential for a mistrial if the issue is not addressed correctly.
