Russell Simmons,
Congressman Gregory W. Meeks, Minister Benjamin Muhammad, Darien Dash (Dame’s
brother) and others will be appearing at Urban Campfire for a post 9/11 dialogue
with young adults at York College Performing Arts Theater tomorrow (April 13th).
The gathering is design to create dialogue with
young adults to discuss the issues in their lives that are effecting them after
the nation’s worst attacks in history.
“Creating A New America” will inspire young people
to get involved in serving their community and country. Show host and Executive
Producer Kwame Anku says.” "Since September 11th, Urban Campfire has traveled
across the country hearing from young people. We are honored to come to New
York to share what we’ve seen and heard. I think it says a lot for Russell
Simmons, Congressman Meeks and the others to want to convene a dialogue between
their peers and the young adults of New York City. We’re proud to be helping
to make that happen.” Urban Campfire is a cross-between MTV and Oprah bringing
together a diverse cross section of young adults with celebrities and cultural
icons. Past Urban Campfire guests have included Chuck D, Musiq Soulchild, Idalis
de Leon, Arianna Huffington, BET Teen Summit Host Jay Cooper, Congresswoman
Eddie Bernice Johnson, MTV Real World stars Dan Renzi and Syrus Yarbrough and
many others.
