Hip Hop artist Diamonté “Saweetie” Harper made the jump from the recording booth to the small screen. The 27-year-old self-described “Icy Grl” was booked to guest star on Freeform’s Grown-ish sitcom.

Saweetie will be acting alongside Grown-ish‘s main character Zoey Johnson who is portrayed by Yara Shahidi. As part of the college-set Black-ish spinoff, the real-life University of Southern California graduate is playing Joey Bada$$’s musical protégé Indigo.

“I think Indigo is just a little bit of a b####. She means well, but just sometimes she says the wrong things,” Saweetie told EW. “My favorite thing about [playing] Indigo was when both her and Yara were on the same page and having a good time. You can just see the love and excitement that Indigo has for [Zoey].”

The regular cast of Grown-ish includes Deon Cole, Trevor Jackson, Francia Raisa, Emily Arlook, Jordan Buhat, Chloe Bailey, Halle Bailey, Luka Sabbat, and Diggy Simmons. Additionally, Ryan Destiny appears as a recurring character, and Jordyn Woods made a cameo on the program.

The Grown-ish midseason premiere is scheduled to air Thursday, January 21 at 8 pm ET/PT on Freeform.
