M.O.P. And Onyx Need Support For Joint Album

M.O.P. and Onyx seek fan support to create a joint album produced by the production team SnowGoons.

For the month of December, the New York-based crews seek to raise $30,000 by the end of the month of December.
The 90’s titans outlined their needs on their KickStarter page. At press time, they were close to raising $3,000.

The funding is where we need your support. We hearten every Rap fan to join the band wagon and make this happen. We’re international. A project like this requires face to face meetings in order to create a unique, superb and outstanding album. We have to independently cover studio time, video production, marketing, promotion, travel, pressing, artwork as well as mixing and mastering, which is truly the hard part for an album of this caliber. The release is estimated roughly for spring 2016 to drop, via Goon MuSick and Major Independent.

The SnowGoons are a production team that have already produced albums for each group individually.

Trainer Freddie Roach Feels Cotto Beat Canelo

Freddie Roach gives a straight and colorful answer to AHH’s Kylie Krabbe on his feelings about his fighter Miguel Cotto’s loss to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez at the Mandalay Resort and Casino in Vegas this past weekend.  Alvarez won the fight by a judging landslide with scores across the board of  117-111, 119-109 and 118-110.

Nevertheless, many who watched the fight live, as well as on HBO’s Pay Per View argue that the score cards were entirely too far apart if not perhaps a questionable win in a fight where Saul Canelo threw the harder shots but also missed while Miguel Cotto landed more shots, albeit with less damaging results, but more accuracy – which should have added up to more points.  During the battle Freddie Roach “wasn’t really concerned” about losing – nor were any of his other corner men in what they viewed as a more competitive fight than the final scores revealed.  Looking back, Roach states bluntly:  ” I still think we won the fight.”

Cotto himself was so caught off guard by the scorecards that he did not address HBO’s Max Kellerman or the press post fight, leaving Roach to speak for him as viewed here.  In any event, due to the disparity on the cards, this match up likely won’t be seen again as Golden Boy marches forward with Canelo, promising that he will fight again in May. Though it would appear unlikely that Canelo’s opponent in May will be the enduring elephant in the room, undefeated fan favorite Gennady “GGG” Golovkin with his ever popular “Mexican Style” via Karaganda, Kazakhstan, Canelo was quick to say that he is anything but afraid of battling GGG in what is likely to be another Pay Per View Bonanza when it comes down the pike in 2016.

Alabama State University Issues Statement Regarding Lil’ Wayne Homecoming Concert Scam

Alabama State was recently scammed by fake promoters who claimed they could book Lil’ Wayne to perform at the university’s homecoming concert. Now, the school organizers have issued a statement about the incident.

“It’s disheartening to share that MAC recently learned the booking agent we partnered with for this performance never actually reached out to Lil Wayne’s team, even after being paid per contract,” says Yardayn Watkins, co-founder of Millennium Age and second year student at ASU.

According to the statement, Millennium Age partnered with a third party booking agent who claimed to have close ties with Lil’ Wayne’s team and would book him as the headliner for ASU’s homecoming concert. MAC members and the concert promotion team took time to review a booking contract, received administrator approval, and paid the entire fee to book Lil’ Wayne; thus, ticket sales and promotion took place, unknowing that the agent had no intention of reaching out to Lil’ Wayne’s camp.

Once school administrators approved Lil’ Wayne as a part of the lineup, they were never contacted by the booking agent.

“We apologize to those who felt victimized, hurt or thwarted, as we are now experiencing those feelings ourselves. We’d like to extend our gratitude to those who worked hard on the show, and hope to reconcile our good faith with the students and fans at Alabama State University,” reads the statement.

Wayne’s manager Cortez Bryant also issued a statement regarding the scam. “Fake promoters are the lowest of people on this earth because they are damaging the integrity of artist and most important hurting the fans who are expecting to see their favorite artist,” he said. “I’m now in contact with Alabama State University and will do everything in my power to work with them to persecute whoever was behind this. It’s not fair to the college students.”

Did Nicki Minaj Shade J Lo’s AMA Performance?

Photo via Nick Minaj’s Instagarm

A battle of the booty! Well it seems as if Nicki Minaj wasn’t here for Jennifer Lopez’s opening performance at the American Music Awards. Lopez danced through a medley of this year’s hits during the opening number, that included Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda.” Some felt the former “Fly Girl” (In Living Color) held it down, and others felt she was a little bit rusty. The cameras caught Nicki Minaj giving a little smirk during the performance. Nicki claims that she was watching herself on the screen, then turned back to watch J-LO, to suggest that there was no shade here. Mmmm hmmmm Nicki. We hear ya.

Sean Kingston Claims He Was Kidnapped Over Jewelry

Sean Kingston claims that he was kidnapped by jewelry store employees after a watch sale gone wrong, TMZ reports.

Kingston was making payments on a $225,000 watch he bought from Avianne Jewelers in Los Angeles. After paying a total of $185,000, he reportedly refused to pay anymore because he felt that the watch wasn’t worth the asking price.

After a few arguments, the “Beat It” singer agreed to do a swap and give them the watch back in return for something worth $185,000. The 25-year-old told the LAPD that when he met with the jeweler on (Nov. 17) at 1:50 a.m in a parking lot, things took a turn for the worse. Kingston said that when he got in the car, the watch was snatched off his wrist. When the jeweler refused to give it back, Kingston refused to get out of the car. He was reportedly then driven around a secluded area and then thrown out of the car.

LAPD says this is considered kidnapping and are currently investigating.
