Mac Miller Says "F*ck Kendrick" Again; Confirms Ab-Soul Collab

(AllHipHop News) Ten months ago Kendrick Lamar took aim at several of his peers on the Big Sean track “Control.” One of the targets of K. Dot’s lyrical challenge was Mac Miller.

Miller addressed Kendrick’s verse on his own track “Friends” featuring Schoolboy Q off the Faces mixtape. “In this Game of Thrones, it is known/I got the 4G, L-T-E connection boards/No Control, f**k Ken Lamar (F**k you Kendrick!),” Mac sarcastically rapped.

Today (6/1) the rapper/producer repeated his expletive (tongue-in-cheek?) response to the Black Hippy member. During a Twitter #AskMac session, Miller answered a fan’s question about whether he thought Kendrick would have something to say about his “Friends” lines in the future.

While it appears Mac Miller does not seem concerned with Kendrick shooting back, he does plan to stay connected with other TDE rappers. He is expected to appear on Ab-Soul’s forthcoming album These Days.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Philly Rap Snitching Rumors!

I can’t lie. I don’t really know the Philly rap scene all crazy like that anymore, but my people do. So, they hit me with this rumor. I don’t know if it matters to you, but its definitely worthy of a mention for people around the way. Here is exactly what they sent me, word for word.

“So (Philly rapper) Boy Backs performed upstairs at The Trocodero (Philly club). Artists have to PAY to perform. So he’s the headliner and he’s following some cats from Delaware. The Delaware cats had brought a good crowd. Backs brought one person as his hype man. I couldn’t believe the Ram Squad has fallen so hard. So he comes out and performs first over “Kurtis Blow’s The Breaks” then “Just Ice” then one other old school beat which has his vocals on there. So the whole crowd leaves because he’s old enough literally to be their parents. He gets mad throws a fit and leaves. It was sad but just he’s a certified snitch so no old heads want  him around in Philly and young cats have no clue about Ram Squad. It was possibly the worse fall off ever.”

I gotta say I cannot speak on these allegations so I goggled it.

And here is the video of him admitting to the allegations and I remember I posted this. Wow…to many rumors ago.

Charles Hamilton Returns With Two New Albums

(AllHipHop News) Charles Hamilton is back and he returns in a major way with a pair of free albums.

Hamilton has been well under the radar and had, at one point, seemingly fallen on hard times. But, according to Pigeons and Planes, the reclusive rapper told a friend named Zach Gero to release the albums to the world.

Gero said the following in a statement.

“I know Charles personally. He told me to leak these albums. Even has the Pharrell track there on My Heart. Oh, and, Charles is well aware of the leaks, like I said I know him personally and he told me to leak it. My Heart is Charles’ attempt at killing the mainstream and radio and The Zone is that classic 2008 Charles Hamilton sound everyone begs for…Over the past year and a half or so he’s been back and forth between Harlem & London working on a gang of new music. Initially it was just going to be a ghost-writing/production deal but now is actually gonna be a full album deal with Turn First Records. He’s doing A LOT better mentally and physically these days (but, of course, is just as eccentric as ever, hence that interview, lol). You can find him at http://thelastcharleshamiltonblog.blogspot.com or http://twitter.com/dukebdz.”

The Arsenio Hall Show Canceled After One Season

(AllHipHop News) Arsenio Hall came back for more and left with less. 20 years after FOX canceled The Arsenio Hall Show after four seasons, CBS has done the same to the reboot after only one season.

The reboot of the late 80s/early 90s talk show debuted on September 9th, 2013 and in February was renewed for a second season. When the show was renewed in February, CBS Television Distribution  president of sales, Joe DiSalvo lauded the show’s appeal:

Arsenio is a tremendous talent and we’d like to thank him for all the hard work and energy he put into the show. We’d also like to thank Tribune and all our station group partners for their support of the show.

However, CBS is seemingly backtracking on those statements, claiming the show’s popularity did not meet its standards:

Arsenio is a tremendous talent and we’d like to thank him for all the hard work and energy he put into the show. We’d also like to thank Tribune and all our station group partners for their support of the show.

Hall responded to the cancellation of his show in the same press release stating that every party involved in the show “knew it would be a challenge”, but is ultimately grateful.

Donald Sterling Refutes Alzheimer's Disease Claims, Suing The NBA For $1 Billion

(AllHipHop News) Donald Sterling wants the world to know two things: 1. he does not have Alzheimer’s disease and 2. He is not going anywehere. Earlier today, reports surfaced that Donald Sterling and his legal team are planning on suing the NBA for $1 billion.

Shelly Sterling became the sole trustee of the family trust that owned the Los Angeles Clippers after two neurologists deemed Donald Sterling mentally unfit to be a trustee by the family trust’s standards. As the sole trustee, Mrs. Sterling sold the Los Angeles Clippers to ex-Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. Yahoo! Sports’ writer Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Sterling’s lawyer, Max Blecker, has confirmed that the former Clippers owner plans to sue the NBA:

According to TMZ, the neurologists’ results found that not only had Sterling suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, but has had the disease for the past five years. Blecker dismissed the medical reports as”grossly exaggerated” in an email to ESPN, but did admit to CNN that the reports revealed “modest mental impairment.”

Following the sale, one of Sterling’s other attorneys informed The Los Angeles Times that “there can be no sale without Donald’s signature.”

Dr. Dre Named "Wealthiest Hip Hop Artist" After Apple/Beats by Dre Deal

(AllHipHop News) Close but no $1 billion cigar. Three weeks after Dr. Dre proclaimed himself Hip Hop’s first billinoaire in a cell phone video with Tyrese, his wealth is being reported at over $200 million short following the $3 billion sale of Beats by Dre.

Speculation of Dr. Dre becoming Hip Hop’s first billionaire artist/producer surfaced once rumors of the eventual Beats by Dre sale surfaced less than a month ago. However, Billionaire.com reports Dr. Dre’s overall networth at being at $790 million.

The details of the sale were not made public, however Forbes speculated a similar wealth total for Dre and assumed Dr. Dre’s payout would be half-cash and the rest in Apple stocks. Since Apple CEO Tim Cook has revealed that both Dre and Iovine will have roles at Apple, stock options exchange seems likely. In addition, Dr. Dre and Jimmy Ionvine only own 25% each of Beats and after taxes, the $3 billion payout turns Dre’s payout to roughly $240 million.

Maxwell Explains How His Cousin's Death Changed His New Album, Questioning Career + MORE

(AllHipHop News) Maxwell is ready to return after his highly successful fourth album Blacksummer’snight was released in 2009. In a recent interview, Maxwell spoke on how vocal surgery delayed his album, questions he had about continuing his career and more.

In 2012, Maxwell planned to perform his entire discography back-to-back during shows in Los Angeles, Atlanta and Newark, New Jersey. Maxwell had to cancel the entire tour due to vocal injuries and admits to thinking the injury could be the end of his career:

You know, you always think about it. I thought to myself, “Damn.” But luckily my doctor, Dr. Jimmy Morales, who works with so many people — from rappers to public speakers, it’s insane who he’s involved with — he assured me that it was not major, that it was something you must deal with now. It’s better to deal with it now and cancel these dates, which, you know, even when I canceled the dates, I paid my entire staff — the musicians, the crew, everything. Literally out of my own pocket because everyone has families, so I didn’t want them to be restricted because of the experience I was going through. So, I took care of them, and I think it was good karma in itself. [It] kind of helped with the healing process, so, you know, I was back in motion.

Maxwell stated that his cousin died of an enlarged heart and a heart attack earlier this year, forcing him to delay recording his upcoming album even more. According to Maxwell, his cousin’s death made him come to terms with a phenomena that has characterized artists during sadness:

Being an artist, it’s like, “Damn, why do I need to have f##### up things happen for things to sound so nice for people?” It’s weird. It’s so weird, bro. I don’t even get it. I take it as it comes and I go, “This is what you’re here to do. You’re here to take on your life and what you go through — mostly the worst part of it — and make it into something nice so people feel that they can relate and they can overcome certain experiences.” So that’s what I’m doing now.

Maxwell is set to embark on a 40-date summer tour starting June 14th.

Ab-Soul Explains What Delayed His Album, Meaning of "These Days" + MORE

(AllHipHop News) After two years, Ab-Soul is finally making his rounds in the press to promote his upcoming new album These Days. In a recent interview with Life+Times, the outspoken TDE lyricist reveals what delayed his album, the meaning behind the title These Days and more.

Ab-Soul says he recorded the majority of the album at Mac Miller’s studio and had his album months after Schoolboy Q revealed his Oxymoron release date in December of 2013. According to Soul, the delay on the release of his album was due to Top Dawg Entertainment’s album release schedule:

I turned the album in at the beginning of the year and Schoolboy Q had just gotten a release date for his album, so we had decided to push my album back in order to let Q’s project breathe and to also let Isaiah Rashad run, let SZA run and to keep building the anticipation for my album.

Prior to completing These Days, Soul voiced his displeasure at an October 2013 XXL cover of the Black Hippy crew that was titled “Kendrick Lamar and Black Hippy”. This has caused rumors to circulate of Soul’s dissatisfaction in the group, rumors he insinuates are not totally wrong:

Everybody doesn’t speak English. The world is a big place, man. I can only be me. I can’t really expect everybody to be on board 100 percent with what I’m doing without them ever even having a conversation with me. They don’t even know me for real. With that said, I enjoy it. I like to hear what someone from the outside who’s looking in would say, because a lot of the time they are right.

Ab-Soul and Top Dawg Entertainment CEO Dagneroo Kipawaa revealed the These Days album title on his personal Twtiter account last month. The title is meant to encompass the current times as Soul views them:

Originally, I didn’t want a super conceptual title. I didn’t want to freak anybody out. A lot of people do like that concept-driven perspective and that’s cool, but I just wanted to loosen up a bit. I wanted to make the overall concept broader. I wanted it to be like a time capsule to represent where I’ve been between my last project and this one.

There is no word on These Days release date. Earlier this month, Kipawaa informed fans on his personal Twitter account that they would be able to choose the release date for These Days out of four possible dates: June 3rd, June 10th, June 17th or June 24th. Ab-Soul will be headlining the afterparty for
