Atlanta’s DJ Nando Killed Outside His Home

(AllHipHop News) Popular Atlanta DJ William “Fernando” Barnes, aka DJ Nando, was shot and killed early Tuesday morning. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the 38-year-old father was gunned down outside his home in Clayton County.

“Basically, he drove home, pulled in his driveway, someone had been sitting waiting at his house in the backyard and they ran up and shot him once in the head,” said his brother-in-law Richard Hannah.

Police have not provided a motive for Nando’s murder as of yet. Family members do not believe it was a robbery attempt because electronic equipment and cash were left at the scene.

Several members of the Atlanta Hip Hop community issued condolences via social media.

Marvin Gaye Family Settles “Blurred Lines” Lawsuit With Sony/ATV

(AllHipHop News) One portion of the legal saga between Marvin Gaye’s family and parties involved with Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” has come to end. The Gayes have agreed to a settlement with music publishing company Sony/ATV according to Billboard.

Sony/ATV was brought into the dueling lawsuits between the Gaye family and Thicke over the similarities between “Blurred Lines” and Gaye’s “Got to Give It Up.” The Gayes accused Sony/ATV (which publishes music for both Thicke and Gaye) of not being impartial in the legal fight between the two. It was even alleged that the publishing company purposely planted a false story in the media that the family refused a six-figure offer from Thicke to make them appear “unreasonable.”

The terms of the Sony/ATV and Gaye settlement were not made public. The lawsuits between the Gaye family and Robin Thicke are still moving forward.

Drake’s OVO Jordans Sneaks Selling On Ebay For $100,000

(AllHipHop News) If you happen to have an extra 100 grand at your disposal you may be able to cop a pair of Drake’s limited edition Jordan brand sneakers. The Canadian performer announced he was partnering with Nike to release his own limited edition shoes in December, and some of the unreleased OVO sneaks have now made their way onto to Ebay. One pair is going for $100,000.

Drake gave away two sets of his OVO Jordans at a recent Toronto Raptors “Drake Night” basketball game. One pair of the Retro 10s was later put up for auction on Ebay originally listed at $300. After 54 bids from 34 bidders the current leading offer stands at $100,000 with three days left.

Wiz Khalifa Among Panelists For BMI’s “How I Wrote That Song” Event

(AllHipHop News) Taylor Gang leader Wiz Khalifa will be among a list of celebrated songwriters present for Broadcast Music, Inc’s “How I Wrote That Song” panel sponsored by Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. Wiz will be joined by Charlie Wilson (The Gap Band, Kanye West), Alex Da Kid (Dr. Dre, Nicki Minaj), Linda Perry (Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys), and Dallas Davidson (Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan).

“How I Wrote That Song” is an annual pre-Grammy weekend event held to offer individuals who have first hand knowledge of writing, producing and performing hit songs the chance to share their experiences. The panel is open to the public. Tickets go for $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the event.

BMI’s “How I Wrote That Song” panel will take place Saturday, January 25th at West Hollywood’s House of Blues. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. The discussion runs from 12-2:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at ticketmaster.com.

WTF News: Police Looking For Man Who Publicly Sexes Cheese

Ok, this one is bananas.

Police are looking for a man who has become known as “the Swiss Cheese Pervert.” Witnesses say he drives around without pants and asks women to pay him to watch him masturbate with cheese. Several women have reported being approached by the “white, heavy set male” in the  Philadelphia’s Mayfair area.

Via the Independent:

The man’s actions were brought to the attention of residents via the Mayfair TownWatch Facebook.

“Good Morning Mayfair!” the Facebook user writes, “Please be aware of the Swiss Cheese Pervert! This individual is driving around surrounding communities and exposes himself to women.

“He offers them money to watch him put swiss cheese on his privates. He is a white, heavy set male, 40-50 years old. He drives a newer model silver sedan. He was also spotted in a black newer model sedan.”

It goes on to urge potential victims to not confront the man, but to note his car registration and call the police immediately.

Upon further investigation, the Philadelphia Daily News discovered that the man allegedly has a profile on OKCupid where he advertises his fetish. Woman in the area reportedly received a message from a man saying: “I started to compare girls to cheese due to their milky complections [sic], girls are soft, smooth feeling and tend to like dairy products more. That and typical advertising, always using a girl to advertise dairy products. So cheese is what I started to use as a replacement for having sex with girls.”

Police are investigating.

VIDEO: Migos and Schoolboy Q visit Soul Assassins Radio!

Last Thursday (January 9, 2014), Atlanta trio Migos and Los Angeles rising star Schoolboy Q paid a visit to Soul Assassins Radio located at Burbank’s Backside Records. The show aired in its entirety Monday night on Sirius/XM’s Shade 45 and AllHipHop.com was in the house during the initial taping to capture some of the segments on tape. Migos touched on their recent “Live in Chiraq” video where the trio go through the streets of South Side Chicago and discuss their most prominent song “Versace” with Drake. TDE’s own Schoolboy Q came through later and chilled with the Soul Assassins Crew. They tried to get the features from the upcoming Oxymoron album but Schoolboy said that the tracklisting is dropping soon and he didn’t want to spoil any surprises. Watch below!

Hip-Hop Rumors: Alex From ‘Black Ink Crew’ Says Producers Roofied Her While Taping

Alex Estevez of Vh1’s ratchet Black Ink Crew claims the show’s producers roofied her so that she’d act sloretastic during taping, and has filed a lawsuit.

TMZ is saying that Alex is suing Big Fish Entertainment and New Pop Culture Productions over a party episode that was shot in 2012 (“Mixxxy Madness”)  where she appears extremely intoxicated and throws herself at Ceasar, the owner of the tattoo shop.

Alex began claiming that she was roofied during the episode but people in the crew denied seeing or being involved in suspicious activity. I guess she had some time to think about things because now she claims that someone connected with production handed her a drink that contained a date rape drug before taping the episode, and that it completely messed her up. Alex says she doesn’t remember anything, including hitting on Ceasar.

Alex also insists that producers edited show footage to make her look as THOTish as possible (she says she quit last June because she felt violated).

Alex’s friend Ericka, who isn’t a cast member, also says she was roofied. Both women are suing for battery and demanding at least $1,000,000.

Producers didn’t return calls.

Sounds like another case of people not liking their behavior on camera and trying to find a scapegoat to take the heat off themselves. The reality TV industry is twice as shady as the music business but one thing TV producers don’t play about is incurring lawsuits, so I don’t believe that anyone affiliated with production would be stupid enough to roofie a subject they’re filming.

Now, as far as the people in the actual crew…I wouldn’t put that past them. It sounds like a lost cause if this lawsuit moves forward, though. There’s no actual proof that she was roofied. Behavior on camera doesn’t cut it, they need evidence in the form of drug traces in your system so…

 

On a side note, if anyone does actually believe they’ve been roofied, it’s best to go to the hospital as soon as you make the realization. Roofies leave your system quickly.
