MySneakers: An iPhone App For The Sneakerhead

MySneakers is the first in-depth iPhone application geared towards sneakerheads. Released by NILO Media last week on the iTunes App Store, MySneakers provides a one-stop sneaker resource. It houses all the essential tools any sneaker aficionado would need to find their perfect pair: – A search engine referencing an extensive database of the latest and greatest styles. – Blogs that review these styles, and the stores that carry them in closest proximity to the user (when the GPS function in the iPhone is enabled). – A user-rating system, allowing users to see the preferences of their peers and leave their own. NILO Media Corp. and MySneakers have partnered with major and independent brands, including Nike, adidas, Converse, PF Flyers, New Balance, Vans, Puma, DC, Creative Recreation and more. Users have the ability to post sneaker, store and blog findings to their Facebook and Twitter accounts directly from MySneakers. MySneakers’ reach is global, with stores and brands participating from every developed market. Louis Colon III, NILO Media’s co-founder and self proclaimed sneakerhead, gives his picks for the hottest items, shops and blogs of the month in its recommended section. I got a chance to catch up with him to find out how the idea for MySneakers came about and how he got his start in the footwear world. Check out the interview below, along with a review of MySneakers from our very own DrJays.com buyer, Mike Kim.Kiki: Can you give us a breakdown of your career and business ventures in the footwear industry? Louis: “My career spans across a couple of categories, but always in the footwear world. I started and published a sneaker magazine called Kicksclusive. We printed 15 issues over five years. Then I opened up Laces, which was a sneaker boutique catering to women, and was located in SoHo, NYC. I then worked at New Balance/PF Flyers as a product developer last year. Kiki: How did the idea first come about for a sneaker app? Louis: The [MySneakers] idea came to me a little over a year ago while I was living and working in Boston for New Balance. Then for my 30th birthday, I went to Spain with a group of friends, one of them being Nick Howard, who’s my business partner in MySneakers. It was in Spain that I spoke about the idea of MySneakers, and Nick said ‘Thats a great idea…if you’re serious, let’s make this happen as soon as we are back in the U.S.’. The day after we landed, MySneakers started.” Kiki: What are your top 3 kicks for spring 2010? Louis: 1. The New Balance X OffSpring 576’s in grey and red. 2. Nike Air Max 24/7. I like the fusion of the air max technologies. 3. Vans Vault X NY Mets (just because I am a big mets fan, and the style is simple for spring). Kiki: How many sneakers do you own? Louis: I own alot…I can’t give an exact number, but I know I own over a hundred and change. I never really counted because I get rid of sneakers and I’m actually ready to get rid of a lot now. I like to refresh the closet constantly!” MySneakers Review by Mike Kim: “MySneakers is a cool concept. It could use some more work, but has potential for a lot of sneaker-savvy fans. The database could be a little wider—for example, I searched for Griffey Max and came up with one colorway, while I was looking for a different one. MySneakers definitely provides convenience, with its wide array of store locations in the area, as well as blog access.” Check out the MySneakers app for yourself by clicking HERE. Other mobile formats will soon follow, of which Android and Blackberry will be the first.

T-PAIN’S REPLY!

Remember the other day, I posted a Black militant man lashing out at T-Pain? Well, before that dude wrote me, T-Pain wrote:

“This hannity sh*t is off the f*ckin chain. Let’s think for a second, 1st off, I’m not even registered to vote, 2nd, this hannity guy was blocking the door to my bus just to get that drop from me…all you ppl that say I’m goin against Obama, if you go back thru many interviews you will see I don’t give a sh*t about politics cuz no matter who is in office YOUR life is no different. suck my balls, truly yours, the most hated on RNB n*gga in the game. Peace b*tch!!”

I just wanted to give T-Pain his say in the matter. That was nice of him. I hope he learns more about how politics work, because my life was significant under Clinton as opposed to Bush.

LUPE FIASCO AND MURS GOING ROCK?

I heard a lil rumor that Lupe Fiasco may be going into the Rock world. I don’t know the details, but one of my sources told me this based on one of his shows. He performed some of his hits like “Kick Push” with his band and as a rock song. Somebody said he sounded a lot like the Sex Pistols. On the same note, I am hearing Murs, the Cali King, is also about to front a Punk Rock band. Now, that I can see, because Murs already looks like a lost member of Bad Brains. LOL! Sike, its all good…dudes expanding their music.

CHRIS BROWN TO BECOME FULL TIME RAPPER?

I guess the competition with Bow Wow has come full circle. I am getting these crazy rumors that Chris Brown is about to just go into the world of Hip-Hop! He’s rumored to be getting himself ready to RAP. This means, getting his skills up and doing a rap album. Now, from what I am being told CB won’t totally abandon his singing skill so maybe this will be more like what Drake is doing. Could you imaging Chris Brown in a rap battle where he starts dissing The Game and 50? LOL! What if he was actually nice?

DIDDY AND RAWSE ARE BEST FRIENDS NOW!

 Uh Oh! I’m just sayin….

SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END!

The world is coming to an end! They need to sell the iPad with a gun, I guess, eh? A Colorado man was robbed of his iPad as he left a local mall. But, the crazy thing was how badly the thief wanted to iPad. Bill Jordan told CBS station KCNC he moved from New Jersey to Colorado to escape crime. Well, he failed at that. The crooked wrenched the iPad from Bill’s hand and ended up tearing his finger off. “I saw just a bone, all the skin and tendons and everything were off,” Jordan said. The iPad was tied to Bill’s finger and some damn kid was pulling at it like a maniac. There was another kid too. They let them have the iPad and just tended to his torn finger. What the HELL? “I hope you understand what you’ve done to my life and my family’s life for a simple piece of apparatus that’ll be junk in a couple of years.” SMH and the kids are caught on tape so I am sure there will be an arrest made soon.

LIL TORN FINGER, WE LOVE YOU!!!

Police To Protest At Concert Featuring Nas & Damian Marley

(AllHipHop News) Over 50 police officers are in West Palm Beach are expected to picket a festival featuring a variety of top Rock and Hip-Hop acts, including ZZ Top, Weezer, Sean Kingston and Nas and Damian Marley. Fortunately, it is not the music the officers are targeting this time, but the actual city of West Palm Beach itself. Earlier this month, police officers announced they would protest West Palm Beach’s decision to eliminate officer’s pay raises and reduce benefits. The SunFest, which takes place from April 28th to May 2nd, is one the biggest events hosted in West Palm Beach. “The public thinks all we’re doing is asking for raises,” Lou Penque, a West Palm sergeant and union treasurer, told the Palm Beach Post. “We are more than willing to work with the city and they refuse to work with us.”Today, West Palm Beach Police Chief Delsa Buch ordered an undetermined amount of police to work the event, despite their objections. “I don’t think the public will appreciate it, and I hope (the police) rethink it,” West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel said. “We’ll have plenty of security. It’s always been a very safe event with very few incidents.”To compensate for the lack of police officers, SunFest organizers have hired a number of private security guards to secure the event. “I’m a little sad that the union never even called us,” SunFest organizer Paul Jamieson said. “I don’t understand what put us in the middle of this. It doesn’t make sense.”Nas and Damian Marley are scheduled to hit the stage on Sunday (May 2nd) at 3:30 PM. Other acts performing during the SunFest include Frankie Beverley and Maze, Patti LaBelle, REO Speedwagon, Ben Harper and The Relentless 7 and others.

GAME: Growing Up, Going All Out

Who wants to see Game grow up? Although he’s still lyrically as ferocious as ever, time and maturity have oozed their way into his life. He’s settling down into fatherhood and life outside of his native Compton. As he evolves, the rap superstar can and still draws on his former life in South Central for The R.E.D. Album, his fourth solo album.

The opus reunites Game with his mentor Dr. Dre and a colorful cast of characters that includes Lil Wayne, the Neptunes, Jadakiss, Timbaland, Jim Jones and more. The album is proof that things can change and remain the same at the same time. Such is Game. In this interview, Jayceon Terrell Taylor explains his growth, and what he’ll do if his kids want to follow in his colossal footsteps.

AllHipHop.com: So Game?

Game: That’s me.

AllHipHop.com: Why did you drop the “The”?

Game: Just so one day someone could ask me why, no reason. (laughs) “The” is like Dr. or Mr. It didn’t really mean anything actually, I dropped it because I got tired of people calling me “The Game.” “Hey The Game how you doin?” (laughs) It looked good on paper, but I’m cool, its just Game.

AllHipHop.com: What’s not a game is “400 Bars.”

Game: That ain’t a game.

AllHipHop.com: Now for someone who is always saying your not beefing with anyone, your always going in on someone.

Game: Who’d I go in on?

AllHipHop.com: Oh you didn’t go in on anyone in “400 Bars?”

Game: I mean that’s like a joke now, I just went in on 50 and ‘nem, but at this point its not beef. We did that. I mean we beefed, but now it’s like I can crack a joke.

AllHipHop.com: So you think 50 doesn’t care either?

Game: Naw, he probably cares. I’m sure it affects him in some kind of way.

AllHipHop.com: So you just do it to antagonize him?

Game: Yea, you know kick him while he’s down.

AllHipHop.com: You think 50 is down right now?

Game: Maybe not financially, but in rap, he’s down.

AllHipHop.com: I guess its a little ironic considering he was trying to kill your career and all, how did you manage to come out on the other side?

Game: Man people don’t understand, that’s what it started as. He just got mad, he got a little jealous that Dre was working more on my album than on his but I didn’t understand that because I thought we were all in it as one big bang, but he tried to kill me.

AllHipHop.com: So you really think that’s what it was, he was jealous?

Game: That’s what it was, I ain’t gonna tell you no lie, that’s what it was. So he came at me and I had to defend myself, my honor, my family and keep milk in the refrigerator as I call it.

AllHipHop.com: You know its funny to me some of the people you go at aren’t just random rappers, you go at people who can pull plugs. So what’s your kryptonite Superman, what makes you feel so untouchable?

Game: It ain’t about feeling untouchable, I don’t know it’s just about how I feel after I brush my teeth in the morning I guess. But ain’t nobody pull no plugs, we still here, we still doin it, but you know what it is? People. Like regular, normal, people really like me.

AllHipHop.com: Yea, because you talk so much ish and people never know what’s gonna come out of your mouth.

Game: Yea, but I’m sure there’s probably some other reason’s, that ain’t really no reason to like somebody (laughs) but people really genuinely like me cause I’m cool. Let’s go with all the A list rappers that have sold millions I’ve met them all, and I’ve heard about people meeting them all and I’m definitely the coolest. I’m the chillest. I just be chillin.

AllHipHop.com: So far, so good you’ve been pretty cool to me. But you’re not cool when your on a record.

Game: That’s not the place to be cool.

AllHipHop.com: So how much of it is real and how much of it is just to entice a reaction?

Game: It’s all real. It’s all real. It all can be done. It all can happen. You never know but all it is is just life. Life should be taken seriously, but some people take life too seriously. You gotta chill. What’s gonna happen is what’s gonna happen. We all know that know that from a baby your mom changes your shi**y diapers, then you get older, then you get old and go back to shi*y diapers, then you die, so we know what’s coming. So during the in between just do what you want. I’m not saying break the law and be an outlaw, but I’m saying just have fun with your life. Do what you want to do and that’s what I do, I do what I want.

AllHipHop.com: Yes you do. R.E.D.S. What does that mean?

Game: It’s re-dedication. I’m rededicated to my craft, my family, my friends, my music. It’s not a new me, it’s just like reenlisting in the army, you already been there, now its time to go back in and go to war. You know now i wanna go in and do another two year term.

AllHipHop.com: Why did you feel like you needed to be rededicated?

Game: Because after The Documentary I toured for years after that and it took so much out of me, it was unexpected. I was so new I didn’t know the obligations were so much and when I used to be at home chopping up whatever I was chopping up, and doing whatever I was doing ,I thought you see a rapper in a video rapping on TV, you get a chain, you get some hoes, you get a car and you just pop some bottles and that’s it. There’s so much more that comes along with it that I didn’t know about and took a part of who I was and it started to affect myself and how I felt about being a father. King wasn’t born yet, but Harlem was and I felt like I wasn’t there for him so I spent the last two albums after that trying to find a chemical balance between the two and I found it.

AllHipHop.com: I have to applaud you as a Black man for caring enough to take that time for your sons. How did you go about finding the balance.

Game: I just did it. I started doing less Hip-Hop and more of my kids and I was still getting enough work done to still co-exist with everyone else in this big thing called Hip-Hop. It’s like every time I talk about my son’s my tear ducts start getting all crazy on me because its such a sensitive subject for me my kids and their welfare and the things that I have to do to take care of them until they’re able to take care of themselves, and then beyond that, I just do it.

AllHipHop.com: Now that being said, don’t you think that’s being reckless, and I don’t mean to call you reckless, but some of the things you say can be construed as reckless if someone chooses to act on it.

Game: It’s just saying it.

AllHipHop.com: Yes, but sometimes people cant handle you just saying something.

Game: Like who?

AllHipHop.com: I don’t know, I’m just saying ,you could just walk down the street and say “What up blood” to someone wearing blue and that’s just saying something that might spark a reaction.

Game: I’m not necessarily gonna do that.

AllHipHop.com: You might not do that, but having a lifestyle in Hip-Hop that can be perceived as kind of reckless, how do you safeguard your children against that?

Game: Harlem’s 7 and still don’t know I’m a rapper. I asked him my name the other day and he said “Jayceon,” and I said “What’s my other name?” And he said “Game,” and I said “Why you think people call me that?” And he said, “Because you play video games a lot,” and I was like “Cool, he’s safeguarded.” And then my oldest son, Wild child, he definitely knows but his days are the same, it’s like Ground Hog Day, he wakes up and they go to school and I go to work, but my kids are in good hands, they’re protected.

AllHipHop.com: So what about when they want to follow in daddy’s footsteps be it banging or rapping?

Game: I’ll do whatever I can to keep my kids away from the negative energy that the earth may provide when we come to it, but until then I ain’t focused on that, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it, but they’ve lived a totally different lifestyle than I did so they gonna be some fake as gang-bangers cause you ain’t from Compton, you from the Valley dude, I’ll tell em right now (laughs) there ain’t even no gangs where my kids are at, but they’ll be good. They’re not even going to be privy to the things that could render them helpless in those situations like Compton, you open the door and it all right there for me.

INSIDE: The Losers

There are many factors that make people flock to the movie theater in droves to see the latest flick. Of course the story plot is a huge factor, but more important are the characters, the stars in the film that will give any potential movie-goer that extra push. With the help of an all-star cast, movies such as “The Losers” are sure to bring out a crowd. For the ladies, just mentioning the name Idris Elba, already makes the movie a must see, so adding actor Columbus Short is a welcomed bonus. For the gents, Zoe Saldana is enough eye candy to keep them focused through out the entire film.“The Losers” stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan (“Watchmen”) as Clay; Zoë Saldana (“Avatar,” “Star Trek”) as Aisha; Chris Evans (the “Fantastic Four” films) as Jensen; Idris Elba (“Obsessed”) as Roque; Columbus Short (“Quarantine”) as Pooch; Oscar Jaenada (“Che: Part Two”) as Cougar; Holt McCallany (“Vantage Point”) as Wade; and Jason Patric (“Narc,” “My Sister’s Keeper”) as Max.“The Losers,” which hits theaters today, follows a five man team of the Special Forces unit sent to the Bolivian jungle. Unbeknownst to them, they would be double crossed and become the mark of a powerful enemy known as Max. After being joined by Aisha, the team is now waging a war against the CIA as they embark on a suicide mission to clear their names. “This takes it back to sort of like the 80’s action movie where there’s a bad guy, there’s the good guys and it’s obvious that they’ve been wronged, they have to come bring justice for all and save the day,” said Zoe Saldana. That’s a different type of violence, it feels good, it feels morally correct as opposed to “let me just shoot the sh*t out of this person or let me just go over to them and chop a breast,” said said. The film, which was based on a comic book series by DC Comics/ Vertigo was directed by Sylvain White (“Stomp the Yard”.) Remaking a graphic novel, a book, or even a movie can be a difficult task because of the high expectations already set. Right now we’re heading into a remake season with the release of “The Losers,” TV hit “The A-Team,” & “Robin Hood.” Not only is it a challenge for directors and those involved with production, but for the cast as well. “It’s a daunting task when you’re dealing with action and the source of material being a graphic novel and or a comic,” said Columbus Short. You have to find a character. You want to find something tangible that relates to somebody. I’m not an avid comic book reader nor do I follow comics, but when I read the script it was amazing. After I read the script I read the graphic novel. It’s amazing how cinematic the graphic novel is, it reads very much like a movie, says Short. With a cast filled with great personalities is no wonder the set was filled with humor including tons of “yo momma jokes.” “We found a real banter I think because we hung out so much off set, claimed Short. We found a genuine camaraderie that we could bring to screen and I think that us bringing that to screen it translated to the audience that this group of guys really care about each other, really want to see each other through this and the comedy doesn’t feel forced. You feel like you’re watching a group of friends talk junk, say random things to each other, but yet on a very specific mission,” said Short. Short who is tapped to Executive Produce Stomp the Yard 2 claims that if his character Pooch could have a theme song it would be LL Cool J’s “Mama Said Knock You Out.” Similar to women in the rap game, when it comes to women in film that are portraying more of a masculine role (cop, soldier, etc) the character may have to add the female sex factor. This may include sexy clothing, a sex or kissing scene, backside or cleavage zoom in shots, etc. The same is true for character Aisha in the film who is a sexy, a** kicking, gun toting, sharp shooter. “The reality is that we’re soldiers, men as trained soldiers their going to try to do what ever it is in their power to get the mission done and a woman would be no different, she’s just a soldier period. So if her physical assets is a weapon that she can use by all means we’re not overly exploiting this, she’s going to do what ever she needs to do to get it done,” says Saldana“The unconventional feel of this film allows us to watch Aisha the character be real bad a** and also sexy at the same time in the same way it allows Jensen to be a quite campy character, but at the same time a bad a** soldier, said Elba. We absolutely don’t want to show sex where we don’t need it, but in this film the characters are so unconventional, the stories are so well balanced, the way it’s put together allows us to have that freedom. Of course you top that off with a sprinkle of humor; you have a great film and some great characters. Sidebar: Both Idris Elba and Zoe Saldana will meet up again with the release of the new film the “The Takers” slated to hit theaters later this year.

Pepa on Nicki Minaj: ‘How’s She Gonna Enlighten?’

Just about every hip-hop head, old and recent,

has an opinion on a certain heavy-banged, animated female rapper. Next

to share their thoughts on the ever-present Nicki Minaj?

One half of the best-selling female rap act, Sandra “Pepa”

Denton

Pepa, who debuted her first Salt-n-Pepa album Hot,

Cool & Vicious in 1985, shared with VIBE her feelings on the

new, 25-year-old, pink-adoring rapper. “She reminds me of [Lil’

Kim]. Bold and you know… she’s young. And a lot of people are

like ‘Oh what do you feel about her because of the message?’, but to me

she hasn’t learned the message yet,” she says.

“[Salt-n-Pepa are] old in the game, we started out a little raw, so

after a little while I’ve learned and changed because my audience

changed. Kids started coming to my concert and I realized that I had

sense of responsibility. I was cursing in my shows, and then I started

seeing little kids and was like, ‘Oh what are they doing here?’ And

after a while I had to stop, I didn’t feel right.”

Minaj expressed to BET recently during a 2010 Spring Bling special

that though her shows are unconventional, uncensored, and filled with

signatured boobs, she’s attempting to find a balance between the older

audience she targets and her over-loyal younger fans.

Pepa says finding that audience balance is especially tough with a

male-dominated team, like Nicki’s Young Money crew.

“Not everyone’s role model material, but we do have a sense of

responsibility because kids listen more to us than they would their

parents. But [Nicki’s] young, so how’s she gonna enlighten?’ She’s new,

she’s excited and what happens when you have a male camp backing you?

Yeah, you might be singing those kinds of lyrics,” she says with a

laugh. “That’s what happens when you have a male camp dictating how you

should be.”   Click here for the rest of the story.

IF you are in the mood for some good music, check out my homey’s album for FREE! His name is Bishop Brigante. Dude is a legend. I remember watching him on TV, before Drake came through! Peep this link!

Bishop Brigante – “The Brigante Brand” Album

LAURYN HILL IS COMING BACK!

I know she won’t let us down! Come on L-Boogie! Lets do it!!!! She hinted that she would be doing some new music.

HOLD UP ON THAT TUPAC CD

Here is a note I got on the Tupac CD.

The 2pac album is up in the air right now due to the Death Row/ wideawake ownership situation. The album was due to drop on june 16th (pacs b-day) but has been pushed back indefinitly. The reason wideawake/ death row can release this is due to a clause in a contract back in the day between suge and afeni that means Death Row can purchase 12 songs from an Amaru approved list to release as an album for $1mil. Obviously Amaru will also have their cut of the profits. As for no remixes that isn’t entirely true. Although the fans would love this, the record company would also prefer this as all they need to pay for is mastering tracks rather than recording costs. However, people need to remember that one of the reason pac’s music is remixed is because either guest artists or producers don’t give permission for the originals to be released and also that because the original samples aren’t approved by their owners or because when they hear its for a pac album the price for clearance quadruples.

DOH!

JOE BUDDEN LEARNS FROM TAHIRY MISTAKES?

Interesting. I really don’t follow the life and times of Joe Budden too, too closely. One thing seems to be certain is that he’s learning. This dude reportedly made some mistakes with putting his relationship with Tahiry on full blast in the media. Basically, I’m hearing t hat despite their outrageous fight online last year, I’m hearing Joe Budden is still dating Somaya Reece. She’s supposedly on the last leg of the tour hanging out with Buddens and it is common knowledge they go together. News to me.

MORE SLAUGHTERHOUSE RUMORS

Here is something else I heard. Some gangs were at the show in Calgary, Canada (GANGS IN CANADA?) and were throwin’ up signs at the crew on stage. This made Crooked I respond with some of his own gang signs. I heard Royce was thrown off by the tension a lil so he threw up his own gang sign, the middle finger. This reportedly turned into a mean mugging competition between the Calgary Gangs and Slaughterhouse. It looked like it was about to go down after the show, but nothing did. Nobody backed down either. What in the hell was the beef over in the first place?

AN NBA-MILF GETS EXPOSED

I’m not really into the reality world and alla that, but this one caught my attention.

VH1’s “Basketball Wives” star Evelyn Lozada has seemingly been pretty haughty about other peoples unscrupulous ways, but now she has the issues. TheYBF.com has unearthed some straight up NUDE pics of homegirl. I guess the Evelyn chick doesn’t get that these things always leak. They were apparently sent to a male friend. SOME FRIEND! She’s 34, but kinda looks older. It may be that 17 year old daughter. Anyway…PEEP!

She about 45.

SOMEBODY ELSE EXPOSES KAT STACKS!

This girl Halie was sullied in the rumor mil as a bopper. But she’s not like Kat. SMH. What is this foolishness?

FLASHBACK!

KELIS OR GAGA?

I don’t know why. Just because.

RIHANNA TAKES A SPILL!

I don’t really know why people relish in this stuff. I’m just posting to be posting.

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

I heard Benzino is still going to do a diss song towards Slaughterhouse.

Rihanna is looking to start her own clothing line with some people in Europe, they say.

Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey renewed their vows again. They are lasting.

DID CHRIS BROWN AND TYGA SWIPE A SONG FROM A FEMALE SINGER?

I get a lot of these types of letters. Everybody is getting ripped off by somebody, but most of these people are just looking to come up. But here is one from somebody that has a slightly different tone to it. Lady G Da Real Deal claims her song was stolen from Chris Brown and/or Tyga in their new song “Holla At Me.” Peep the letter.

I’m Lady G Da Real Deal an independent artist and songwriter from LA, who has written songs for Snoop, Queen Latifah, Lil Fizz and J Boog of B2k and Chris Brown’s artist Scooter Smiff, I’ve also co written with T.I.and host of other artists . Anyway, Chris Brown and Tyga released a video yesterday called “Holla at me”. Where they use my lyrics and catch phrase on the hook.

My song that they wrongfully used is called “Poppin'(Super Turnt Up)” (the reason he saying “I’m Turnt Up, I’m Super Turnt Up). I’ve included the link to my video which was shot Sept. 2009. They been playing my song on the radio in LA since Dec. 2009. I know this is not a coincedence because like I stated earlier I write for his artist and his artist is actually dancing in both of our videos. Plus all know the same people in LA and Hollywood.

I’m not one to internet beef or twitter bang on weak ass uncreative n##### like these two losers trying to get back on. I’ve worked hard everything I’m doing and its not cool for n##### to think they just steal somebody swag and song because they’re new artists.

So help me expose them AHH. Check out my video, listen to my hook and check out they weak ass s###.

Even if you dont post this, this is not the last you gon hear about it and will be posting it sooner or later but I’m a fan of the site so I’m giving you guys the exclusive because unlike Tyga b#### ass, I am from LA and my city supports me and if I dont get word back from them soon, they gon have to leave the little hollywood hideout.

Look into it though, and I’d appreciate your help in exposing these n##### once again.

Lady G Da Real Deal

“Poppin'(Super Turnt Up)

What do you think?

To me, it looks like they both used the words “Super” and “Turnt-Up.”

GURU

– THANK YOU. REST IN PEACE.

They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about

them then they should worry!

Ebony Eyez: Don’t Call It A Comeback

It has been said, that an “ounce of experience is more than a pint of advice.” Nothing can replace a lesson learned first hand. Ebony Eyez has gained knowledge over the past few years that cannot be acquired through any amount of extensive research or investigation.  For many individuals there is this notion that a “record deal” is the equivalent of the “golden ticket.” Everyone won’t get one but, the one’s that do have it made, right? Ebony Eyez, the first and only female rapper from St. Louis to release an album nationally, knows first hand all that comes with that “golden ticket”; The good, the bad and the ugly. Music“Oh Yes” “Don’t Touch” Ft. Murphy LeeAllHipHop.com: You’ve consistently been referred to as the “First Lady of St. Louis” does such a huge title add any pressure?Ebony Eyez: At times it can be, because peoples expectations can be pretty high or unrealistic, but I’d rather they expect a lot than very little to nothing at all from me. Besides I feel the title is fitting [laughter].AllHipHop.com: Nice Girlz Finish Last is the title of your latest mixtape. What direction did you go with that release?Ebony Eyez: My last mixtape Nice Girlz Finish Last was my way of stating that some people can take your kindness for weakness in this business. This is the business of music when it’s all said and done, as a women you have to know how and when to be aggressive enough to handle biz, while not coming off as a b#### than nobody wants to deal with. Of course that’s the first thing they like to say about a successful women who doesn’t allow people to walk over her [laughter]. Also when you’re a great female emcee who can hold your own on a record with the best of them some of your male counterparts can be intimidated by that, whereas a chick that’s so-so talent wise but more open to do what she’s told [they] don’t mind breaking bread with so to speak.  Somewhere after Foxy and Kim’s run the “femcee” value got swept under the rug for one reason or another. I was just making a statement that for myself that nice s### is out the window, so let’s get down to business.AllHipHop.com: Do you feel like the success of Nicki Minaj or other female rappers in general contribute to your movement or take from it?Ebony Eyez: As far as Nicki Minaj’s success I’m all for it, thumbs up from me. I think she’s dope. The name of my label is LadyLion Ent so I’m all about the female movement. I understand the big picture. The more successful one of us is, the more doors open for the rest of us. I don’t get caught in the hype, knocking another women down to make myself look or feel better. It’s never been my steelo, I focus on being the best Ebony Eyez that I can be. I understand that what I have to offer, no one else can supply.   AllHipHop.com: I remember listening to you back in high school and that was some years ago, how long exactly have you been doing music?Ebony Eyez: Hold up nah ain’t been that long ago [laughter] I’ve been doing music since I was 9. “GGB” (Girls Get Busy) [laughter] was the name of my 1st group. We would throw lil neighborhood shows and charge people to get in to see us rap and dance. In my late teens I really got serious with it and been going full force ever since. I was in a female duo name “Nazir” and we would go to all the underground spots and I would battle the best of the best and got my name out there. Once I went solo things started falling into place and a couple years later I was signed to Capitol Records.AllHipHop.com: Your debut album 7 Day Cycle was released on Capitol Records in 2006, which was a great year for St. Louis and yourself. How have things changed for you since then?Ebony Eyez: Since my album 7 Day Cycle came out a lot has changed. I’m no longer with Capitol or The TrackBoyz which was the best decision for me. At the time I was a new artist from St.Louis so a lot of labels were caught in the hype of what my city was doing at the time as far as Nelly and the Tics, J-Kwon with “Tipsy,” Chingy, whom were all popping, instead of focusing on me as an artist and the best way to market and promote me. A lot of people dropped the ball with my project from label to production company to management but most important me, not knowing how the business side worked. I was just happy and excited to get a chance for the world to hear my music.  To top it off my album came out the same day as Trina and a week after Lil Kim whom both had a built in fan base already. I can say I learned a lot from my situation and I know that I’m ready to rock-and-roll baby!AllHipHop.com: Is there still a relationship between The TrackBoyz and yourself?Ebony Eyez: As far as me and The TrackBoyz everybody’s pretty much doing their own thing we’ve all moved on and it is what it is. No more, no less.AllHipHop.com: What have been the greatest lessons you learned from your experiences in the industry?Ebony Eyez: The greatest lessons I’ve learned one, is this is the Music business, the business of music. You can have all the love in the world for it, but you have to get the proper people in place in order to have a great career. You have to do research, ask questions and network on top of make good music. Any artist can understand me when I say music is like that one person your so in love with you find yourself giving your all, while they’re one foot in and one foot out. At times they barley notice you because someone has their attention, then there are times where you’re the only one that exists [laughter]. I probably lost some people there. You have to be honest with yourself and know what you want out of this otherwise you will be lost. Literally.AllHipHop.com: Do you feel any odds were against you at the time of your breakout?Ebony Eyez: Wow did I feel the odds were against me at that time? Guess it depends on how I was feeling that day. Some days yes, some days no [laughter]. Today I would say it’s half and half. Like I stated earlier my album not only came out same day as Trina and week after Lil Kim it also dropped in 4th quarter which pretty much equates a tax write off. There was not a lot of promo, which affects your pre-orders so on release date there are not a lot of albums in stores for people to buy. “So you only sent 8 copies to Best Buy? Really?” Most people complain about being shelved, my complaint was coming out to soon. At the time MySpace and YouTube were just starting to pop which could have been used asan additional promotional outlet as well. On the flip side I’m grateful for all I’ve learned. It showed me how shady this business can be and who was really down to ride, not just down for the ride. Above all, it gave me depth and character which all adds to my story and what is worth more than anything to me: My growth as a women.Visit Ebony Eyez atmyspace.com/ebonyeyeztwitter.com/EBONYEYEZ

The Game Talks About Ice Cube Vs The New West

The West Coast is on the rise again in ways unseen since the 1990’s. There is a plethora of acts coming through like Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Jay Rock, Nipsey Husslel and others. Then there is Game, the Compton-born monster lyricist. The upstart has finally transitioned into a veteran and his The R.E.D. Album should solidify his standing. However, with all of the positivity, there is another side. Ice Cube has taken note of the New West and made some not-so-flattering comments. Newer acts like Jay Rock have taken heed leaving the West Coast on the verge of Civil Rap War. Game is right there in the middle of two generations.  AllHipHop.com’s Octavia Bostick talks to Game about it and why some of the new guys need to apologize to the Don Mega.

B.o.B. has finally broken out. All of this leads him to this moment. His debut album, B.o.B. Presents the Adventures of Bobby Ray, hits stores next week and B.o.B. is ready. It is unusual to meet a new artist that speaks with the wisdom of a vet, but the ATL rep does just that.

AllHipHop.com: Listening to the song “Don’t Let Me Fail” – it seems like you expressing some insecurity. Do you have a fear of failing?

B.o.B.: Not really. It’s something you can’t let worry you or get into the equation. In the position I’m in, it’s so much to focus on you really don’t even have time to worry or to have any type of fear. You put so much time and energy into it, it’s almost like it’s almost impossible to fail because of the fact that it’s so much of our lives and so many years that we’ve been working–– the whole team. It’s been such a long journey, that’s not even on our radar.

AllHipHop.com: Have you been able to shake the Andre 3000 Comparisons? –

B.o.B.: I guess not. You know what though – when people ask me that, they just ask me if I still get the attention. Because I get asked that question, I feel like I do because I get the attention. It’s kinda like I feel as the music is growing and develops, people are starting to be able to tell the difference themselves in the style and the sound.

AllHipHop.com: Your new single “Nothing on You” recently went platinum. How does that feel?

B.o.B.: That was crazy news. That was like the first news that I heard that made reality set in. First you hear “added to such and such.” A week later you hear the spins went up like 500 spins. Then next thing you hear the song is #2 on iTunes. It’s like you see it unfolding and then its like “it went platinum – you just sold 1,000,000 singles!!!” That’s when it’s crazy – when it’s like you realize how much the song is out there. My bass player is from Japan and he just told me it’s very popular and people know the song out there – and even his mom knows about it.

AllHipHop.com: How did you figure Bruno Mars would be a good collaboration for that song?

B.o.B.: Originally when I heard the song idea it was his voice on it. It was like I gotta keep that – I gotta keep him on there. And I feel like the words that he said just put everything in a nutshell – and credit [is due] because he never used the word – in the whole song – no word about boyfriend, girlfriend, relationship. The words aren’t there so it’s kinda like it’s self -expression – like I know you feel where I’m coming from. I feel like it was a good collaboration. He has this song with Travis McCoy: “Billionaire”. It’s good to see that he is capitalizing off of the attention and not just one of them people that pop up.

AllHipHop.com: Who would you like to work with in the future?

B.o.B.: I would work with M.I.A. and I would do something with Danger Mouse.

AllHipHop.com: Why do you think many of the newer generation seem to lack the star power that was readily put out in the 80s and 90s???

B.o.B.: All of that is artist development. The industry got into a habit where they just throw them out like a vending machine – there is no artist development. A lot of them are basically fly by night stuff. Back then during the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s, the band would work on material for weeks before they even recorded a song – and artists were a lot older so naturally as people there were more developed. MJ was on it from a little kid so artist development was there from jump. I do feel like it’s artist development. Now it seems like things just gotta slow down but it’s hard because technology is so instant. Their attention span is so short that they move onto the next one so it’s kinda like a circular relationship. Everything is responsible – the fans, the internet, the music industry, and the artists, so everything is responsible. We gotta evolve collectively to return back to that star power that we used to have back in the 80’s, 70’s, and 60’s.

?AllHipHop.com: Has the ability to touch fans (Twitter/Facebook/Myspace) helped or hurt artists??

B.o.B.: It’s a double edged sword. Because twitter you can connect with the fans instantly, you can tell people where you are, and they know your thoughts and your words instantly. They can always access you at any point they go onto your page. But the bad news is that they can access you at any point in time. The good news is the bad news! So it depends on how you use it.

AllHipHop.com: What do you ultimately want to achieve?

B.o.B.: I don’t ever want to get lazy, even with all of the good feedback I get from my music, I don’t want to get lazy. Basically I want to keep growing as an artist and individually. I may get into other things – like possibly movies – but whatever it is I want it to be where I’m at legitimately. I don’t want to just say something to do something. Some people say “I’ma start a restaurant and open a clothing line.” I don’t want to do that just to do it – I want to be led into it. So far I feel like I’ll be doing this music thing for a minute. I haven’t gotten tired of it in the least bit. Frustration is one thing – being in the music industry is a love hate relationship, but that’s life. Life is a love hate relationship. But getting tired of doing it, I don’t see that anytime soon. I’ll be doing this for a minute.

AllHipHop.com: How do you continue to grow and stay fresh? Do you play instruments or…

B.o.B.: You gotta stay open and you gotta be selfless. You can’t get too ahead of yourself. You gotta reinvent yourself and be open to your cause and creativity. Sometimes I see artists – cliché story – artist comes out with an album and it’s huge. Every album after that is like, “what happened? Where did the excitement go?” That’s because they fell into the formula. You know with my show – when I perform – we switch up the set list – because if you keep it the same after a while it will be routine. It won’t be actual energy and excitement. It’ll just be routine. So I just gotta be conscious that I never fall into the routine of it. That’s how you stay fresh and exciting.

AllHipHop.com: Have you ever considered yourself an emo rapper?

B.o.B.: No, but I definitely can see that because of the soul, because of the emotion that’s in it definitely. I definitely click more – put more of that in there. It’s hard because I listen to a lot of emo rock. So even though I’m rapping, the music, the mood and the tone of voice reflects that in a sense. I feel like Black people started rock; it started with us. It’s totally natural that we gravitate towards it in an essence. When people found out about the song with Hayley Williams of Paramore – a lot of people that got excited were Black people! Black people like rock! Even Lupe –Lupe is a rock star. I’ve done several shows with him. Usually I gotta do interviews and such after the show – and I never really get a chance to soak it up. But I watched the whole show last night. And it was like rock – it was like he’s a rock star but he raps. Just that energy I feel like is something that – just depending on – your roots are – people feel that.

AllHipHop.com: Anything you want to share? B.o.B.: You only have one chance to release your first album. I’m just trying to make this the biggest climax ever! Of course I’ma make several albums after this. But this is the first one so there is that specialness about it.
