Jay-Z On Columbia Move: "I'm Nowhere Near That"
Published Saturday, July 28, 2007 10:18 AM
By Houston Williams

Jay-Z disappointed millions, when a scheduled interview with Hot 97's Angie Martinez was cancelled for personal reasons yesterday (July 27).

The interview was to address a number of matters surrounding the mogul, including recent rumors of his departure from Def Jam.

The rapper and Martinez did get on the phone for a few moments to reschedule and answer a few questions.

After Martinez queried him, Jay-Z said that he'd be at his Def Jam post next week, sidestepping the notion that he was exiting his presidential position at the label.

"If they don't kick me out the building [I will be there next week]," Jay-Z said to Angie Martinez.

She also asked him if he was planning the rumored move to Columbia.

"I'm always looking at the next move," he said and stated that he liked his job at the label.

Additionally, Jay-Z shunned the gossip that he was close to leaving Def Jam.

"I'm nowhere near that. That's the papers, they are ahead of me," he quipped about rumors of his departure.

The interview was rescheduled for Friday August 3 on Hot 97.

Notice he didnt shoot the rumor down. He said he was nowhere close to that which means its still things that need to be worked out before he leave. He did that purposely to let Def Jam know they betta come with that bread or move him up the chain of command or he gonna have to take other offers serious.

Jay aint no dummy! The nigga contract up with Def Jam soon so he just playin the free agent role as he should!

Jay-Z is a great rapper/emcee...obviously one of the best of all time.  But as a president of a record label what has he done?

Brought us Rhianna? Rick Ross? Memphis Bleek?

He got Roots signed to Def Jam, but what'd he do with them?  What'd he do with LL, Redman, Method Man, and many others?  He really hasn't done much as far as advancing other's careers or helping push new artists, or veteran artists that're on Def Jam.  The label is most likely better off without him.

In Augusta, Georgia the Columbia County School System
(Predominately Caucasian) made a African American Male
Kindergartner clean the filthy bathroom toilets with
his bare hands. As the mother complained to the
Superintendent in writing her letter was then given to
the local Radio Station WGAC a Beasley Broadcasting
Station. The radio host, Austin Rhodes, known for
making negative statements about African Americans in
the Augusta community then called the 5 year old child
“Pee Pee Boy” and “Wee Wee Boy” countless times on his
show. He then called the boys’ mom Mrs. Vann a "“Media
Whore"  over the airwaves where thousands in her
community heard it.

This community knows and supports her and there were
many local protest. After 14 years of Austin Rhodes'
abuse and African American degradation now he is
attacking women and children by name. The first goal
is to get this shock jock off the air.The Vanns' have
helped many families and has donated money to many
nonprofit organizations. They also have a nonprofit
organization called Community Action Coalition(CAC).
The Coalition is constantly behind the scenes in the
community. Ms.Vann has 2 degrees and served her
country in the US Army. She has been married to the
SAME man over 15 years and is also a nurse. She is a
veteran, a wife, a mother, a daughter and a sister.
They (her and her husband) are assets to our
community.

This same talk show host Austin Rhodes who is now
called the Imus of Augusta made the same comment that
Imus made Live on Rejoice 94.7 a couple of weeks ago.
Oh yes he did! He actually called the station (94.7
Christian African American Audience) and made the same
comment as IMUS made. The difference is he never
apologized ,he repeated the comments on black radio
and he is stilled employeed attacking the black
community. Austin Rhodes said "she is a “Nappy Head
Ho"” and said "“I will say it again”."

While Beasley continues to support Austin Rhodes, the
community continues to denounce WGAC, Beasley
Broadcasting Group, Inc. The Augusta Chronical
newspaper will not give any attention to this dreadful
and demeaning situation. There was even a protest and
press conference where the NAACP, SCLC,and many others
were in attendance. The family address was also given
out over the air by Austin Rhodes. He told his
listeners to “go "visit the pee pee boy"” and
consequently they have had their home broken into,
victims of racial slurs, driven off the road and
continuously harassed by their community.

Their children are unsure why they have no friends and
are called names daily. The type of supporters Austin
Rhodes has ride by the protest calling us “Niggers”
and saying “Get a Job”. They really think because we
are sacrificing to boycott and protest we don'’t work.
Austin Rhodes is worse than Imus! Rhodes also has a TV
talk show and receives support from Comcast. We have
also started a campaign to boycott Comcast and Kroger.
Kroger, Ryan’s Restaurant and Taylor Toyota have since
stopped advertising with Beasley Broadcasting
Group,Inc.The black community is now taking a stand.
Fourteen years of abuse will no longer be tolerated.
Now he attacks us by name and violates our personal
rights.

The Vanns'’ have sent many students to college and
made an immeasurably positive impact on our society.
We need your support anyway you can. Send letters to
Comcast  and especially Beasley Broadcasting Group,
Inc that state “Austin Rhodes has to GO!”

The Community Action Coalition is taking up donations
for a “legal defense fund” for these victims and other
victims whose rights have been violated and lives been
terrorized. To donate to their legal defense fund send
all emails and correspondences directly The Community
Action Coalition. Their mailing address is P.O. Box
31304 Augusta , GA 30901. To schedule them for media
interviews use the contact information listed above.

You're the most Jay hating ass nigga on the board. Simply state your opinion on the matter G. Redman, Method Man, LL, Ghostface, DMX, and the like are merely fading stars. They are MCs with sick skills who have rollercoaster production and aren't really built for clubs. Hence they don't sell. Hence, they get shelved.

It's business homie, but then you're gonna act like Jeezy, Luda, Nas, and Himself didn't go plat. Rhianna and Ne-Yo are also Plat. Rick Ross, Juelz Santana, and Fab went Gold. I'm not sure what The Roots, Ghost, Red, or Meth sold, but how many MCs who are "Real Hip-Hop" are selling these days from New York? Mos Def? Talib Kweli? Joell Ortiz? Saigon? Papoose? Jadakiss? Raekwon?

None of them. Exactly. This shit is South//Club dominated right now. So why, would I spend millions to advertise you on TV, Magazines, Myspace, etc. For you to go gold, because most of the dudes who listened to you are in their mid-to-late 20s and teens-to-early 20s are the ones who BUY albums and they're mostly WHITE.

That's called hustling backwards. You apparently don't know shit about making money. Why do you think niggas come into the game trying to have labels, shoes, and drinks now? Jay did it first. He marketed himself like an athlete. Like a boss, and now every dude who comes in the game is trying to mimic that success, but they're just a fad.

Get a grip and stop hating on the cloth you're trying to cut from.
