Queen Latifah Addresses Nicki Minaj’s Retirement Announcement

(AllHipHop News) Is Nicki Minaj really ready to walk away from the rap game? In a now-deleted tweet, Minaj announced she was retiring in order to start a family. She later returned to Twitter to admit the message was “abrupt” and insensitive.”

Fans of the Queen album creator were confused about the performer’s actual intentions. Some of her followers assumed Nicki was just having a moment of frustration in a public forum.

Fellow iconic rapper Queen Latifah was asked about the possibility of Minaj no longer making music. Latifah seemed unaware that Nicki tweeted about retirement before offering her thoughts on the situation.

“She must be in love and happy. Let her live. She’s been grinding for a long time,” said Latifah. “But once you’re a rapper, you’re always a rapper. She’ll be back. Let her live some life first.”

Queen Latifah recently made her return to wax by rapping on Rapsody’s “Hatshepsut” off the Eve album. The Oscar-nominated actress’ own catalog includes projects such as 1989’s All Hail the Queen, 1993’s Black Reign, and 2009’s Persona.

Snoop Dogg Talks Getting A Warning Call From The Trump Administration

(AllHipHop News) Before Donald Trump became one of the least popular modern American presidents and accused of being a white supremacist, the host of The Apprentice was often seen partying with Hip Hop artists. Snoop Dogg even took part in Comedy Central’s roast of Trump in 2011.

The D-O-Double-G went from cracking jokes about The Donald on TV to feuding with the POTUS on the internet. The beef began when Snoop was seen pointing a toy gun at a Trump lookalike in BADBADNOTGOOD’s “Lavender” music video.

Trump fired back on Twitter. He posted, “Can you imagine what the outcry would be if [Snoop Dogg], failing career and all, had aimed and fired the gun at President Obama? Jail time!”

Snoop Dogg has not stopped expressing his issues with the current occupant of the White House. However, the rap legend told DJ Whoo Kid that someone connected to the Trump Administration did contact him after the “Lavender” vid went viral.

“They tried to come holler at me once upon a time when I made that little video where I popped him in the video,” said Snoop. “They were like, ‘You can’t do that.’ I went, “All right, I won’t do it again.'”

Swae Lee’s Ex-Girlfriend Reportedly Arrested After Headbutting The Rapper

(AllHipHop News) For months, Swae Lee and Marliesia Ortiz have found their names in the blogs as the couple publicly went through relationship problems. A new article claims the situation between the Rae Sremmurd rapper and his ex-girlfriend may have gotten violent in August.

TMZ reports:

She allegedly began throwing objects at him. We’re told Ortiz then went on the attack — striking Swae and delivering a headbutt — before his security kicked her out. She actually then called 911 claiming Swae sexually assaulted her, but when cops arrived she changed her story. We’re told Marliesia admitted to starting the altercation by breaking items in his house and hitting him, but claimed the rapper also strangled her. However, we’re told neither Swae or Marliesia had any visible marks on them, but based on the evidence … cops decided to arrest her.

A representative for Swae Lee told the website police officers took Ortiz into custody for falsifying her accusations. The Los Angeles City Attorney is said to be considering whether to charge the Instagram model with misdemeanor assault.

“They’ll make up anything for a story about I’m truely baffled ☠️,” tweeted Swae on Monday morning. It’s not clear if his message was a direct response to the TMZ article claiming Ortiz attacked him.

Swae Lee is preparing to release his official debut solo album. He recently dropped the singles “Sextasy” and “Won’t Be Late” featuring Drake. As a member of Rae Sremmurd, Swae contributed to SremmLife, SremmLife 2, and SR3MM.

Alicia Keys & Swizz Beatz Ball Out And Buy Mansion For $20 Million

(AllHipHop News) Sometimes, you have to flex if you got it.

For Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, this means dropping big bucks on a new home.

Last year, a beautiful, contemporary mansion in the high-end town of La Jolla, California near the water was listed for sale at $30 million.

After a game-changing price drop and change in realtors, the crib, known as “The Razor House,” was sold last week for $20.8 million.

The buyers? None other than the hip-hop super couple, who can definitely afford the home, given the accolades in their musical careers.

What’s interesting is both artists are East Coast-based, leaving it a mystery on their connection to the home near downtown San Diego.

The spacious property includes 10,653 square feet of room inside, with luxury features such as a home theater, gym, library, all-glass elevator and a kitchen with custom designer appliances.

Almost every wall in the residence is comprised of glass, with the floors hewn from travertine stone.

Also, a long infinity pool hangs over the cliff’s edge, with mesmerizing views of the hills and the ocean below.

Must be nice.

(AllHipHop Rumors) YO! I hope you guys are happy, because today is Sunday! And guess what? Today’s another edition of Kanye West’s Sunday Service and the word is, it was lit! I am not sure why it was lit, because church is never lit. But, then again…yes it is!

I have to say it is pretty good to see him get back to some sort of normalcy, if that is even logical to say. I still stay in my feelings about the Trump support, but this seems to bring him back “home” – literally.

Moving right along…

Another feel good moment…Eazy-E, the pioneering rapper and businessman, has a new grave. This may seem weird to some, but to me, it is special. That man got a raw deal from the Hip-Hop Nation when he died. He was on the wrong side of a battle that he should have been on the right side. And then he passed away in the midst of it all. Well, yesterday was his birthday. By the way, yesterday was also Mac Miller’s death day. People were sad. He was a good kid! Anyway!

Back to Eazy! Family and friends of the legendary Ruthless Records founder came together to celebrate his life at his grave site! I wish I knew! I would have been there! (OK, no I wouldn’t because I cannot afford the ticket, but that’s another story.) Here is some of the visuals.

HOUSTON, WE HAVE A PROBLEM!

“You scared to rape a b####, I can’t relate”
“Rape Rape on the first f###### date”

I won’t say the rapper’s name, but I have to say that a rapper saying this is deeply concerning to me. What? I am not an advocate of violence, but this dude needs his whole a$$ whipped for overtly advocating rape and putting that out there for people to chant back. Big problems!

Chris Brown Sued Over “Fake Blood” In Dancer’s Eyes

(AllHipHop News) Chris Brown has been having a standout year, especially with the release of his most recent album Indigo.

The 32-track project features standout singles “Indigo,” “No Guidance” featuring Drake,” and “Heat” featuring Gunna.

Unfortunately, the R&B singer now finds himself on the end of another lawsuit.

One of his backup dancers is suing Chris after someone at a video shoot poured fake blood in her eyes, which was allegedly toxic.

The Blast obtained legal documents revealing a woman named Danielle Griffin claims “a wardrobe and make-up artist with the first name Angel carelessly and negligently poured fake liquid blood on (her) head without eye protection after assuring her that the substance was safe.”

Griffin said she received major injuries to both her eyes and she blames Chris and the production team.

The lawsuit also claims they had a duty to ensure the fake blood would be safe and properly tested for use on the dancers as a safety precaution.

The video shoot transpired two years ago, and she says she has had no assistance in her recovery.

Watch Lil Mama Shoot Her Shot At Meek Mill!

(AllHipHop Rumors) There once was a beloved song by Slick Rick called “A Teenage Love” and this song is the first one that came to my mind when I saw Lil Mama hail mary Meek Mill!

Well, this is what happened…

First of all, we need to recognize that YG and Kehlani are dating and have been dating for months. They are out and the masses are on it and celebrating their love in the media. Actually, they didn’t want the media on them, but they got caught out there. Nuff said.

Well, in his own way, Meek Mill celebrated their love too under the auspices of “hot girl summer.”

As you can see, Lil Mama didn’t take long to to jump right in the comments, in front of us all. Now, for those that remember, Lil Mama is known to jump out of the window and do things – perhaps without thinking.

Anyway, I think it is safe to say that this won’t work. However, it is nice to see that people are talking about her. She’s actually still one of the better rappers. Lets go!

A Stampede And All Out Chaos Interrupts Lil Wayne’s Lil WeezyAna Fest

(AllHipHop News) Several people suffered minor injuries during Lil Wayne’s Annual Lil WeezyAna Fest over the weekend.

Top rappers like Megan Thee Stallion, Kash Doll, Saweetie, Trey Songz, Future, Travis Scott and Meek Mill were in town at the UNO Lakefront Arena, to perform at Lil Wayne’s festival.

Shortly after Meek Mill left the stage, a large stampede occurred because audience members thought somebody was firing a gun.

According to witnesses, over 15,000 people ran for safety, destroying parts of the stage, a medical tent, and some concession stands, as they headed for the fences, some of which were also torn down.

Unfortunately, some of the people in the crowd took advantage of the chaos and looted the concession stands as people fled.

Some of the patrons of the festival started pouring their own drinks, and others stole the cash registers and tip jars.

Travis Scott eventually hit the stage and the festival continued without any problems.

Travis was followed by Lil Wayne, who ended the show by bringing out a variety of guests including Future, DJ Khaled and Choppa.

Common Starts The Revolution With A New School

(AllHipHop News) Last week, Common presided over the opening ceremonies for Art In Motion, a new charter school which will eventually serve over 1,000 students.

Art In Motion is starting off the school season with its first class of 7th and 8th graders.

Over time, Art In Motion hopes to broaden its capability to teach grades 9 through 12 as well.

“I talked about the revolution bt this truly is a revolution. And as I talked about the revolution, I understand now that the revolution is not only economic, it’s not only like social, it’s emotional too,” Common said. “And we going have all those aspects here at this school for our children to be able to breathe. And to be able to see and to be able to dream and to be able to pray and to be able to think and create.”

The Chicago rapper thanked his mother Mahalia Hines, who sits on the Chicago Board of Education.

Common affirmed that his mom was the one who showed him the value and significance of having a good education.

“I just want to thank my mom for instilling education and giving me the opportunity to be able to be here. That’s the reason I’m here. And I just thank God for this moment,” the Chicago native told the crowd.

Opening Art In Motion is the latest power move Common has made in Chicago in 2019.

In June, it was announced the rapper is working with real-estate developers to build an enormous movie studio campus as part of the South Works redevelopment project.

MTV’s Jamila Mustafa: The Next Oprah Winfrey?

“Aim to be significant, not famous” is more than just an Instagram quote in her bio, but the very words Jamila Mustafa lives by.

Hailing from the city of Wilmington Delaware, Jamila is the definition of a hustler!

Jamila started out as a child actor and entertainer, by participating in martial arts, dance, national commercials and multiple pageant crowns such as Miss Delaware State University.

No stranger to hard work, Jamila’s wasted no time bursting on to the scene in late 2015 helping pioneer one of BET Digitals’ most successful programs “BET BREAKS.”

Not only did she serve as a lead reporter, but Jamila also uniquely crafted over four thousand stories which solidified her name as someone to watch in the entertainment industry.

Well, watching soon turned into note-taking and soon, her style of journalism, fashion, energy and her ability to establish relationships with artists set her apart from her peers.

Jamila is currently the Co-host of MTV’s “TRL Top 10” airing Saturdays at 10 am on MTV Networks with legendary hip-hop personality, Sway Calloway.

The legendary show, which originally aired from 1998 to 2008 with Carson Daly, is now back and fans have fallen head over heels with Jamila’s infectious personality.

The blessings this year haven’t stopped there for Jamila, as she has had several viral moments, including a dance battle with Ciara.

Recently, Jamila slayed the red carpet at the 2019 VMAs, being named as one of the evenings best dressed. And she was honored by Hennessy during their V.S.O.P Privilege Toast in New Jersey.

While many in the world are just getting to know Jamila Mustafa, those from her hometown of Delaware know her path to greatness started early.

One of her first television gigs came at just 12-years-old, when she hosted the “Philadelphia Eagles Kids Club,” a children’s show that aired on FOX WTXF-TV.

On the show, a young Jamila interviewed former Eagles tight end L.J. Smith who was so impressed that he called her the next Oprah Winfrey.

And, the name stuck over the years, as she would continue to be called “Little Oprah” by her friends watching her career develop.

Although the title has faded, the accuracy of their comparison has only grown stronger, and begs to ask the question..is Jamila Mustafa the Oprah of our generation?

Even at 26, Jamila is right on Ms. Winfrey’s heels in terms of early career accomplishments both on and off-screen.

Oprah and Jamila are both advocates for social activism and community service. Oprah has been known for her work as a philanthropist within the last 12 years through The Oprah Winfrey Foundation and other endeavors.

Jamila, on the other hand, spent a great deal of her childhood being active in the community. Whether she was winning one of Wilmington’s most prestigious honors or receiving recognitions from the Mayor, the City Council president or former Vice President Joe Biden, Jamila was taught to also use her gift to inspire and never forget to give back.

There is no question Oprah’s legacy is unmatched. But there’s a new star on the rise who has the potential to usher us into a new era of entertainment.

Don’t be surprised if you see The Jamila Mustafa Show in 2020.

Whether Jamila is debating who had the best year in music on iHeartRadio or interviewing Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for BET Networks, one thing is certain, Oprah’s legacy is solidified, but Jamila Mustafa is just getting started.

If you think the Oprah comparison is just hype, peep the chart below and decide for yourself.

Nonprofit Director Benefiting From Jay-Z & The NFL Denies She’s Racist

(AllHipHop News) Jay-Z’s partnership with the NFL is off to a rough start.

Earlier this week, Jay announced that the new “Inspire Change” initiative with the NFL would benefit two charities.

Roc Nation and the NFL earmarked over $400,000 to two organizations, the Crushers Club and Better Boys Foundation Family Services.

But the participation of the Crushers Club in Chicago raised more than a few eyebrows when the director of came under fire for racism.

Users began to circulate old social media posts posted by the non-profit’s founder Sally Hazelgrove taken in October of 2016.

The photos featured Hazelgrove gleefully cutting off the dreadlocks of African American men who needed a “better life.”

Sally Hazelgrove just issued a statement acknowledging that the posts were real.

Even though the students requested that she cut off their hair, Hazelgrove has apologized for the pictures after a storm of criticism.

“This was something they asked me to do because they were looking to change their identities,” said Hazelgrove, who has two biracial children.

“It was not meant to be insensitive,” she added, noting that she had biracial children.

While Jay-Z, the NFL or Roc Nation has yet to comment on the matter, the flub out of the gate has raised questions as to how effective the partnership will be.

Some fans roasted Roc Nation and the NFL for not having a better vetting process, while others still defended the partnership, including a young man named Kobe Richardson, who credited the Crushers Club with saving his life.

The star left the venue carrying a chessboard and, when asked why he was holding the unusual accessory, he responded: “I brought the board. Me and my wife, we were playing today.”

When the reporters asked, “Your wife?” the star looked coy, seemingly confirming the news.

Logic, 29, and Brittney met in early 2018 and went public with their relationship that April when he flew her on a private jet to a show in Las Vegas.

However, the pair have kept their relationship largely private.

It is the star’s second marriage, after he confirmed his split from ex-wife Jessica Andrea last March and they finalised their divorce in September.

Last month, Logic revealed he and his new wife Brittney Noell are about to be proud new parents as well.

Red Lobster Admits To A Fail Over Nicki Minaj Joke

(AllHipHop News) Nicki Minaj shook up her Barbz when she shared to Twitter that she would be retiring for good.

In a since-deleted tweet, the Queens, New York rapper wrote, “I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, ❌ in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. ✅ Love you for LIFE ♥️ .”

While the Twitter community was enraged and demanded answers from Nicki, Red Lobster took their time to add jokes to the matter.

Nicki worked as a server at several Red Lobster locations but she was eventually fired over her lack of customer service.

“Congrats @NickiMinaj on your retirement! Now that you’ve redeemed yourself as a server, you’re welcome to come out of retirement with us!”

The humor did not go over well with Nicki Minaj’s fans and Red Lobster issued an apology of sorts.

“When you’re trying to be fun and congratulate a former worker on their retirement but they think you’re throwing shade. #Fail”

Nicki Minaj has since walked back her comments and plans to address her career on her Queen Radio show.

“I’m still right here. Still madly in love with you guys & you know that. In hindsight, this should’ve been a Queen Radio discussion & it will be. I promise u guys will be happy,” she told her 20 million followers.

Watch Tupac Talk Rapping Vs. Acting, Black Panthers & More

(AllHipHop News) Today, September 7, marks the 23rd anniversary of the shooting of rap legend Tupac Shakur.

Pac was a multi-faceted artist who sold millions of copies of hit albums like Me Against The World, All Eyez On Me and The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory.

Tupac Shakur was also becoming an accomplished actor before his untimely death, having landed feature roles in flicks like “Above The Rim,” “Juice” and “Poetic Justice” starring opposite of Janet Jackson.

The rapper explained how his desire to become an entertainer came about.

“I did a play at the Apollo theater for Jesse Jackson when he was running for president. It was his campaign,” Tupac Shakur explained during an interview on July 16, 1993.

“At the time. It just seemed like the fun thing to do because I was 13. But I caught the bug when I got up on stage and all those people was clapping, so that’s when I got it. But really I just enjoy expressing myself. Anytime I can express myself, I can let some of the pain go from a childhood like mine,” Tupac Shakur said.

Three years later, Tupac was shot on The Strip in Las Vegas after he attended the Mike Tyson Vs. Bruce Seldon fight.

“There were about five cars in the entourage and as they began getting out of the cars I knew these were not normal citizen,” said Officer Chris Carroll who arrived on the scene first.

“As they got out I had my gun drawn, so I told them all to get down and stay back. They all looked edgy, and I was concerned that may be a threat or could even just run away,” Officer Carroll explained.

That’s when Officer Carroll noticed Tupac had been seriously wounded by gunfire.

“Then in the BMW through the passenger window I saw a silhouette of a guy, who was not moving,” he revealed.

Later on at the hospital, Officer Carroll said he tried to get a statement from Tupac, whose last words were “f##k you.”

Tupac lost consciousness and eventually died on September 13.

Pac’s murder remains unsolved to this day and there are still many conspiracy theories surrounding his assassination.

A feud with Jimmy Henchman and Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace erupted after Tupac was beaten, robbed and shot in the lobby of Quad Studios on November 30, 1994.

Over the years, everyone from Bad Boy Records boss Sean “Diddy” Combs and Death Row founder Marion “Suge” Knight have been implicated in Tupac’s death, as well as the murder of Biggie, who was gunned down seven months later in Los Angeles in 1997.

Others have claimed Orlando Anderson and The Crips, and even the FBI were behind both rappers’ murders.

There are also plenty of people who believe Tupac is still alive, and in deep hiding for some reason.

Check out this throwback video of Tupac Shakur talking about the difference between rapping and acting, The Black Panthers and more:
