Dave East Addresses Alleged Battery In Las Vegas Hotel Room

(AllHipHop News) In September, David “Dave East” Brewster Jr. was accused of attacking a woman in Las Vegas after a sexual experience went wrong. East’s lawyer gave a statement about the situation when the news broke.

The woman threw a soap dispenser and bottles of champagne at Dave. One of the bottles shattered on the wall, sending glass flying and cutting Dave. Another bottle hit Dave with force in the head. The woman sought to continue her assault,” Stacey Richman told AllHipHop.

Richman added, “Dave did not respond with violence. Instead, Dave was concerned for everyone’s safety. Dave justifiably took the woman by the arm and put her out of the room. Dave did not assault anyone. He was ordered by his doctor to get a CAT scan after the incident. We are waiting on the results. It was later learned that the woman had secreted Dave’s phones in her handbag.”

East has now personally addressed the Vegas incident. The star of Hulu’s Wu-Tang: An American Saga series recently spoke with The Morning Hustle show.

“Two of the chicks were like, ‘Can we use the bathroom?’ I said, ‘Yeah, go ahead.’ I forgot my jewelry was in there,” explained East. “I got up and went in there. Shorty was trying this on. It got my daughter’s initials on it… I’m like, ‘What are you doing? I don’t know you.'”

He continued, “Then her friend caught an attitude, ‘Nobody’s trying to steal nothing from you.’ [I said,] ‘First of all, I ain’t say y’all was trying to steal. Why you say that? Matter of fact, y’all get y’all sh*t and get out.’ It went from that to ‘bottle service.’ Shorty threw three bottles at me – cut my arm, my leg.”

Dave East admitted he made a mistake by having the women in his room and went on to say he should have brought the guests to one of his friends’ room. The Harlem emcee also denied he was having a threesome with the alleged victim.

Former Jet Life Rapper Succeed Phlyguy Murdered In Home Invasion

(AllHipHop News) A rapper once affiliated with Curren$y’s Jet Life crew has been murdered.

Unfortunately, the bad news has been confirmed and the Arkansas rapper has indeed been murdered.

According to the cops, Succeed Phlyguy, born Ronnie Cravens Jr., was shot and killed during a home invasion in Henderson, Nevada.

News 3 Las Vegas reports that Succeed Phlyguy and three of his associates were inside of their house when masked gunmen barged in through their kitchen door.

A shootout eventually took place between the gunman and one of Succeed Phlyguy’s roommates, and the rapper was hit in the crossfire.

Police have refused to comment, citing an open investigation into Succeed Phlyguy’s murder.

The Real Reason DMX Went Into Rehab!

(AllHipHop Rumors) When DMX went back to rehab, I was happy. But Now, I am happier. See, it seemed like the dog of rap was simply falling off the wagon. As you know, X has had a problem with drugs and liquor for quite some time. He was smoking crack at 14. (By the way, that was weed laced with the coke, seemingly unbeknownst to DMX.

As you know, DMX got out of prison earlier this year. He has been doing very well thus far and people have been happy seeing him thrive. However, on the low I have been having hearing a lot of rumors about how everything is not perfect. On some occasions, folks I know have said DMX seemed to be drunken in their presence and overall just didn’t seem to be well.  Well, this was not good, but I didn’t “report” on it, because I didn’t want to put such bad energy into the universe. And here we are: THIS IS THE “GOOD” NEWS.

DMX put himself in rehab to get in front of real issues with drugs. According to reports, he has had some serious family issues and the pressures of that and performing were pushing him to drugs again. Well, instead of doing that, he opted to get “in front of it.” He also did it for his family, which makes him a good dude.

There are also the legal ramifications of drug use. He cannot get busted for anything of that nature or he is likely to go back to jail. DMX is almost 49 years old! He’s gotta be tired of prison, even if the last time was for taxes!

Get better, DMX! We are still here with you!

Drego & Beno Recount A Squeaky Clean Recording Session With Lil Yachty

Atlanta has Outkast, and Detroit has Drego & Beno.

Describing themselves as the “rap virtuoso,” their energy is unmatched.

On top of being incredibly versatile, it’s their ability to sing, rap, dance, and f##k the club up that fans can’t help but gravitate toward.

Drego & Beno met when they were 9-years-old, and they’ve been tapped in ever since. The content in their lyrics ranges from their upbringing in the streets in the D to everyday life experiences we all go through.

AllHipHop: Drego & Beno, what’s the dynamic between you guys?

Drego: I’m more so of a lyricist, I like to make sense. If it don’t make sense, I’m prolly not gon’ say that s##t.

Beno: I’m more of an entertainer type of guy. More of a showoff, I like to entertain people.

AllHipHop: Being from Detroit, what were you seeing growing up?

Drego: I mean, we seen everything you could probably think of. Hustling, shootouts, killing, everything. It just makes you aware of stuff. If you’re from Detroit, you can make it anywhere ‘cause you know how to get out of any situation. I really don’t be just a deer in the headlights, you gon be gettin’ the f##k out. You gon’ know, “oh yeah, s##t’s about to go down. It’s time to go!” You ain’t just gonna be chillin’, bulls##ttin’, not knowing what’s going on. That makes a Detroit person stand out, they can blend in anywhere they go.

Beno: I seen positive things. You saw hustles. The same thing bro said. It’s good things about the city, it’s getting built back up. Back then it was live, but for a couple years since ‘04, it just went down the drain.

AllHipHop: What happened in ‘04?

Drego: Pistons won the championship.

Beno: Start of ‘05. After that, our city damn near went bankrupt for real.

Drego: We’re known for making cars down there, that’s why it’s called Motor City. Like GM, Chrysler, Ford, they all damn near went bankrupt. They took a lot of money and a lot of jobs from everybody down there. The recession really hit us hard. It hit us real hard, properties went down. Everything went down.

AllHipHop: How did that affect you guys?

Drego: Man, we had to struggle. We had to figure it out. It was really hard for us at first. We had to grow up, learn how to make money, learn how to save it. Learn how to go for what we know, not let nobody tell us nothing wrong.

AllHipHop: Talk about enlisting Shoreline Mafia on the intro of “Meet Us Outer Space.”

Drego: Shoreline Mafia, I love them man. They got the vibe. Their shows is the vibe. Everything about their movement, I love it. They interact with their crowd. They the ones out here, we love Shoreline Mafia. It was big to get Detroit onto Shoreline Mafia and show them how they get down here in LA — and vice versa.

Beno: Shoreline Mafia are lit.

AllHipHop: Did you guys record that out here in LA?

Beno: We recorded that in Detroit, swear to God. It was just a vibe for real.

Drego: Ask them how high we get.

AllHipHop: High off what?

Both: Lean.

Beno: Lean, percs, weed.

AllHipHop: Ohgeesy told me he can’t record high.

Beno: He probably can’t! I record better when I’m high.

Drego: We record better when we high. I’m learning.

AllHipHop: A lot of artists say that. Do you need substances to record?

Beno: It depends on the vibe. If I’m already in the mood to rapping, then probably not. I’ll just go in there after smoking.

Drego: We were in an intense session with Yachty and we didn’t have no drugs like that.

AllHipHop: Yachty doesn’t do drugs right?

Drego: I don’t know what he does. I don’t think so, not for real.

Beno: He was sipping lean.

Drego: Little bit, he don’t really do it. He’s not harsh on the drugs. After that, I’m like “man, we have to practice recording not off no drugs. We gotta be ready for whatever comes to us.”

AllHipHop: Were you like itching?

Beno: Damn near.

Drego: Hell yeah. We had to dig deep down in to get that s##t done.

Beno: That s##t was like rehab, swear to God. [chuckles] That s##t was like rehab f##king with Yachty.

AllHipHop: Did you guys come out with a banger?

Both: We got a whole tape with him.

AllHipHop: Do you worry about promoting drugs?

Both: No!

Drego: You gonna do it if you do it. If you can afford it. Everybody can’t afford what we do so if you do it, that’s on you. We’re not telling you to go get you a cup, we’re telling you about our life and what we do. We tell you about the stuff that we don’t do with it so it’s on you if you wanna do it. We’re not promoting it. We’re not telling kids “go get you some lean” or nothing. This is what we do, this how we vibe. This how we stay sane.

AllHipHop: Are ya’ll lit right now?

Beno: I’m sober right now, this is our natural vibe. But when we off the drugs, it’s a world. It’s outer space.

AllHipHop: I interviewed Peewee Longway right here, he kicked the cup.

Beno: He probably did s##t. Peewee on other drugs though. That’s my mans, I f##k with Peewee heavy.

Drego: He silly as f##k.

AllHipHop: You guys think you will kick the cup anytime soon?

Drego: Nah, we can’t. We’ll die. It’ll damn near kill you trying to kick the cup. That’s such a harsh drug.

AllHipHop: You guys are young but are you concerned at all, down the line?

Drego: We ain’t trying to quit.

Beno: I’m trying to get endorsed by this s##t. I’m trying to get endorsed by codeine and promethazine. [chuckle]

Drego: Swear to God, on the floor. I got a heart problem. I ain’t trying to quit, s##t makes me feel so good by myself.

AllHipHop: That’s how I feel with Backwoods.

Drego: On God.

Beno: Weed? I go crazy for weed. I’ll smoke that all day. I probably smoke 30 blunts a day. 30 of them bi##ches, no cap.

EXCLUSIVE: NYPD Cop Accused Of Dealing Drugs With Tekashi 6ix9ine Heading To Court

(AllHipHop News) An NYPD cop accused of drug dealing on behalf of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods will have her day in court.

Sergeant Arlicia Robinson was indicted the same day the Feds rounded up Tekashi 6ix9ine and his gang.

Sergeant Robinson was collared for allegedly helping the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods get their shipments of heroin into New York City.

Although the NYPD failed to publicize the arrest, details of the operation were revealed during the trials of Aljermiah “Nuke” Mack and Anthony Harv Ellison.

Both men were convicted thanks to testimony from Tekashi 6ix9ine, who testified for three days during the two-week trial.

The other cooperating witness was a “Five-Star General” in the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods named Kristian Cruz, who also testified against Mack and Ellison during their trials.

During his time on the stand testifying, Cruz claimed Robinson was the girlfriend of one of his close associates who they managed to compromise.

Kristian Cruz confirmed evidence the Feds gathered on Sergeant Robinson, who allegedly helped the gang smuggle drugs on three different occasions in the summer of 2018.

Now, Sergeant Robinson and her attorneys have been summoned to court, for a pre-trial hearing.

Sergeant Robinson is slated to stand before United States District Judge Alvin K Hellerstein this March in Manhattan at 11:30 a.m.

Did Diddy Get Caught Cheating On Lori Harvey?

(AllHipHop Rumors) Diddy is known to be a playboy. If he was a super hero,he would be Tony Stark. Anyway, they have seen him allegedly cavorting with a woman that is not his young bae, Lori Harvey. Does Diddy actually cheat? He’s close to billionaire status and has allegedly done just about everything under the sun if the rumors are even remotely correct! There is no way this young chickadee is ready for all that experience! That leads us to the current rumors.

It seems like The Shade Room and some others have pieced together this puzzle. Check it out.

https://twitter.com/HoodStarzMusic/status/1183485047095078914

Now, what does this all mean? I don’t know! You know I don’t care about this rumor to be honest. What am I supposed to write about though? YK Osiris beefing with that other dude Jacquees over who is the King of R&B? I think not! Back to the boss. So, here is the thing. First of all, they are saying that Lori Harvey, aka Steve Harvey’s daughter is the ex-jawn of his son Justin. AND they are saying this women is TOO! Now, I’m going on record saying I don’t believe it! However, this is what they are saying in the video! They have what you call “receipts.”

All I can think that that this is some weird father/son thing on the billionaire scale…passing jawns around? I can’t call it and am absolutely not saying that’s what it is. I just know I only played basketball and football with my dad. He and my mom stayed together and that was that. He ever ever ever ever looked at anybody I ever dated. So that’s that!

What do you think?

Anyway, shout out to Diddy for all that he’s given to the culture and showing boring people like me how to live.

Meanwhile, Cassie is out here about to drop a baby and married. Good for her! That’s living too!

Religious Kanye West Questions Kim Kardashian’s Sexy Dress Code

(AllHipHop News) Kim Kardashian blasted her husband Kanye West for “giving her bad anxiety” ahead of the 2019 Met Gala.

The reality TV star stunned at the annual event in a custom wet-look Thierry Mugler beige dress – which, after eight months of preparation, her Yeezy mogul husband wasn’t a fan of.

“Like the corset, underwear, all that vibe, I just feel like I just went through this transition of being a rapper, and lookin’ at all these girls… I didn’t realize that that was affecting like my soul and my spirit,” he said in Sunday’s installment of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

After adding he’s not that into his wife showing off her body now that he’s “someone that’s married and in love and the father of what’s about to be four kids,” Kim fired back: “The night before you’re going to come in here and say you’re not into the corset look?

“You’re giving me really bad anxiety… I don’t need any more negative energy.”

While the rapper insisted it “affects” him when his wife’s pictures are “too sexy,” the KKW Beauty mogul told him: “You built me up to be a sexy person and have confidence!

Kim also revealed she and Kanye we’re not in the same place when it came to his newfound love for Christianity.

“Just because you’re on a journey and you’re in a transformation, doesn’t mean I’m in the same spot with you!”

Ending the altercation, Kanye calmly said “Okay” and walked out of the room, as a stunned Kim said to her friends: “That’s absolutely ridiculous.”

Elsewhere in the episode, Kim worried about how she’d fare going to the bathroom in the tight-fitting number, suggesting: “Honestly, if it’s an emergency, I think I pee my pants and then have my sister wipe my leg up.”

Alicia Keys Says She Feels She Is Not Worthy Of “Greatness”

(AllHipHop News) Alicia Keys has admitted she’s battling self-worth issues, as she feels she’s “not deserving of greatness.”

“The Fallin'” singer opened up during an interview with Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith, and Adrienne Banfield-Norris on the latest installment of Facebook series Red Table Talk.

Alicia revealed she’s always struggled when it comes to expressing her anger – which has led to some very deep-set problems.

Asked by Adrienne what the “biggest misconception” is of her, Alicia replied: “Probably that I’m very happy. Or that I’m very strong.”

Of her biggest fear, Alicia replied: “I don’t even know how to get mad. I have been doing this thing for many years, where I have been downplaying whatever it is I need because I never want to come off as too demanding.

“I always thought that that was a very righteous, beautiful way to be. I’ve been battling potentially some self-worth issues because, for whatever reason, I feel I’m not deserving of greatness. I’ve been smushing it down for so long that it has become a habit — a bad habit.”

Alicia added that when it comes to her own problems, she has always tried to overcome them by writing down her thoughts in her music.

“It’s so interesting that I’ve become known for songs that are empowering for women,” she mused. “I realize now that the times that I’ve written those songs are the times I needed those songs. It was usually at times when I felt so un-strong, so un-Superwomanly, so weak or confused or feeling misunderstood, that the only way to get through that was to write what I was hoping for.”

EXCLUSIVE: Nipsey Hussle’s Alleged Killer Will Appear In Court In November

(AllHipHop News) The man accused of killing Nipsey Hussle will appear in a Los Angeles courtroom next month.

Eric Holder Jr. has been charged with gunning down Nipsey in front of his Marathon Clothing store on March 31.

In April, Holder pleaded not guilty to one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.

On November 11th, Holder will appear in court at 8:30 a.m. where a judge is expected to set a date for his trial over the cold-blooded killing of Nipsey Hussle.

Earlier this week, Eric Holder was in court with his attorney, who filed motions to have the attempted murder charges.

USC Annenberg Media recently published an article with Deputy District Attorney, John McKinney, who is prosecuting the case.

McKinney explained that Holder and his attorneys have been waving their right for a trial within 60 days, to adequately prepare a defense.

“Given the magnitude of the case, the complexities of the case, work his defense attorney needs to do, he knew it wasn’t in his best interest to try to go to trial right now,” McKinney told USC Annenberg Media.

On November 11, prosecutors are expected to object to Holder’s motion to dismiss the attempted murder charges and ask for a trial date to be set.

MC Hammer: Hip-Hop’s Biggest Seller Talks Michael Jackson, James Brown And The Impact Of The Bay!

(AllHipHop Features) It is hard to fathom the impact of MC Hammer. The entertainer, born Stanley Burrell, was born to shake up the world and that is exactly what he has done. One of Hip-Hop’s eternal top-selling artists, Hammer managed to push millions of physical units when most rappers were struggling to sell gold.  His 1990 album, P.lease Hammer Don’t Hurt Em, alone has sold upwards of 18 million units. MC Hammer continues to be an icon and he’s reuniting with two other seminal urban groups, Tony! Toni! Toné! and Digital Underground. The acts and more will convene at the ‘Bay Area Reunion’ Concert on Thanksgiving Eve, November 27, 2019. (Click here for tickets)

In this 2-part edited interview, Chuck Creekmur talks to the man about new music, a new movie on his life, working with incomparable legends, challenging Micheal Jackson and what MJ really told him they should do.

AllHipHop: First of all this reunion show with Tony! Toni! Toné!  it sounds incredible. How do you feel about that?

MC Hammer: Well, I mean the whole idea was, to celebrate, you know, where we from – celebrate Oakland, celebrate Bay Area with a focus on the East Bay and the contribution to the industry and entertainment that comes out of out of Oakland. And so this reunion of brothers. We all came up together. We came up at the same time, so it’s not just the one reunion, but it’s the reunion of the sound and the soul of the town, you know, and, and so all that is happening.

AllHipHop: It’s interesting because the Bay is very special. It’s very unique and a lot of people, especially from the East coast would lump you guys together, not really understanding the dynamics. Can you talk about what’s special about the Bay?

MC Hammer: The Bay is the whole region that covers everything. You can cover everything going all the way up to Vallejo all the way down to the cities, San Francisco, San Jose. All this encompasses the Bay Area, Oakland obviously, Within the Bay area, you’ve got The Town, and you got Oakland. And specifically, our life, our music, our history, everything from going all the way back to the Pullman Porters to activism, to the Black Panthers, to our musical legacy, to music being as popular, live bands being as popular in the 70s as basketball. Every house had somebody in the house to play guitar, played the drums, played the piano in they household. It was big. And so all of those elements I just named to you, in Oakland, that was, that was our lifestyle. We have a unique experience that even if you might be from the Bay Area, you didn’t have an Oakland experience, it’s a little bit different. And so we love the Bay and we are located in the Bay, but we are specifically The Town, Oakland.

AllHipHop: I went to Oakland for the first time last year. I was told there have been a lot of changes there. What might those changes be? Actually most cities have a lot of changes going on, but let’s specifically with Oakland.

MC Hammer: So what you just said was most cities have a change going on. That’s the reality of the country. It’s changing. Change is happening in every major city through the expansion of the tech business. And in many cases some businesses that have left the country whether it’s the auto industry. All that is changing the culture and new business is coming. And with that new business comes new people and the economic dynamics change. And so the ethnicity and the culture of these cities and we not excluded from that change. The demographics over the past 20 years in Oakland has changed just like a lot of cities throughout the country.

AllHipHop: For this particular event, I see several legendaries from the area are going to be there. Who else would be there? I know obviously Tony Toni Tone, who else.

MC Hammer: Digital Underground. They are bringing their unique funk and party that comes with them. And again, the culture of The Town. And obviously some surprises. But it is a celebration of the Bay area. It is a celebration of Oakland and the East Bay. And so you don’t know who will pop up, but we got a lot of people who have come through these doors and through this experience and we got that unique sound that unique swag, that unique dance, everything that makes us and that unique lens on life that comes with being from Oakland.

AllHipHop: Now, one thing I’ve always appreciated about you is that you have pioneered a lot and you have almost always been ahead of the curve. What would you say right now your legacy is?

MC Hammer: I’m not the right person to frame my legacy, my legacy. It’s better if you were to say what my legacy is, then if better said by you, because now we, we got hindsight as a lens. And so with that lens, it’s right there in plain view. But I don’t wanna I don’t want to be the one to articulate at this time, I’m not going to articulate it. I’m very comfortable and very proud of the things that I pioneered and the doors that I opened. I’ve got my own quote, “leaders lead and different ain’t the same” And so you know, from my beginning I wanted to be a leader and I wanted to be different and I, I’ve been able to accomplish that well, my career in every aspect.

AllHipHop: Are you still into the technology game?

MC Hammer: Deeply. Which will be another thing that you could speak to. I started 20 years ago. I don’t want to go into that, but you, yeah, I’ll leave that for you to put that in with however you write and you can do all, that cause it’s all there. That’s what I’m saying. We talk about any element of what my legacy is from all aspects, you know, it and pretty much everybody knows it at this point.

AllHipHop: I personally like where Hip-Hop is right now, but what are your thoughts on it since to this day, have the record for the most selling Hip-Hop album of all time with Please Hammer Don’t Hurt Em where we are now. Streaming is very popular. The labels are now fully recovered I would say, well, maybe not fully, but they’ve recovered a lot within the last decade from downloads and streaming. Now they’re really making money again.

MC Hammer: I love the truthfulness and the transparency of the artist is I said earlier, so I’m thinking artistically we in a good place because the artists say who they are and what they about and they make their songs. And I like a lot of artists because I like truthfulness. I like the transparency and the truthfulness in the art. Right? Business is in a good place, but it’s a science. It’s a science from an artist standpoint on how to best leverage the current business. And day to day. You have to continue to fine-tune your business model, right? Both artistically and the business of music is in a good place right now and the opportunities that are good.

AllHipHop: Are you are still proud of still having the album sales record with Please Hammer Don’t Hurt Em?

MC Hammer: I’m extremely proud of it. Especially proud of the way it was done. The timeliness of it. the fact that w when we say even in American when we say the album with selling diamond, we talking about in a real album cycle. And that you would have to explain to your readers what an album cycle is, but you are talking about from the time it came out and then 18 months later in the life of an album is no more than 24 months max. But because you have enough hit records and videos and tours around that, when you complete that one cycle to, to sell 10 million in a cycle in the one album cycle, Not over many years. We are extremely proud of that. From the video to the dancers, to the marketing, to the radio, to the management, to the community that it represented to the topics that I covered. You are talking about at the height of the crack era, to be able to, to have songs like “Help The Children,” “We Got To Pray” and “Black is Black,” you see that I’ve covered a lot of subjects in my unique fashion. Collectively now over time, 400 or 500 million people what I had to say.

I’m proud of the underlining production and artists that I chose to do the collaboration with from the sampling standpoint too, speaking with those artists to telling them how much I was inspired by their music. So if you look at Please Hammer Don’t Hurt Em, you’ll find that James Brown, Rick James, The Chi-lites, Prince, the Jackson 5, Barry White. You look at what I did and the way I did it, I took the most soulful artists in the history of R&B and soul music and put a twist on it and gave it a whole different spin, but still kept alive the soulfulness.

Rick James, the Chilites, James Brown, Barry White, Earth, Wind & Fire. I took the most soulful artists in the history of soul music. Black music took my glow machine ll the beats myself, produced all the beats, took my drum machine and laced it and got my DJ Lone Mixer we shot sliced, both and this what “Hammer Time” is, this is what Please Hammer Don’t Hurt Em is and made that into pop music.

AllHipHop: That’s, that’s amazing now that you just broke it down. We can’t fathom that in this present day. Maybe certain artists might be able to pull that off, but very few and most would be in the 40-years old and up crew if they tried, which most wouldn’t if they tried.

MC Hammer: My relationships with the artists because I did the fusion or collaboration with them, the effect it had on their lives., The thank you I got from the Chilites. “We appreciate man, we got a check for $800,000, you know what that did for us?” Earth, Wind & Fire called me when they was praying one day at a live show we did together. And they said, Hammer, can you come pray with us? They said we want you to know, at the time we got to check from you cover our song, we got a check for $1 million. We were broken up as a group and time. We put the band back together with that million dollars and we’d been on tour ever since. It’s 15 years now Hammer, so we just want you to pray with us and we want to take, thank you.

Being able to, you know form a relationship the Godfather of Soul (James Brown), an intimate friendship and relationship and at the end of the day, when he went home to heaven before I could even get there, I got there a day later, but it was all laid out for me to make sure that Hammer to enter into my home, my house. Those friendships and relationships that came from, Please Hammer Don’t Hurt Em, to 2 Legit 2 Quit, to other things that I did with the godfather. For Rick to say, man, thank you Hammer..watch this, I’m in about $10 million now. I don’t know what to say, man, but thank you. So the relationship, the effect. That’s my real answer to you. Am I proud, man? I couldn’t be prouder. I couldn’t be prouder.

And when you feel performing in 2020, especially the way we gonna treat that even now at the Oracle. I’m going deeper into the Please Hammer Don’t Hurt Em next year on that celebration (30-year celebration).

AllHipHop: I remember you infamously challenged Michael Jackson to a dance-off almost. It’s almost audacious to even think that somebody’s challenging Michael Jackson to a dance-off. I mean, that’s pretty cocky. I have to say.

MC Hammer: There was a lot of business that, and me and Michael was excited about it. Somebody just tweeted about it and they were talking about how Michael’s camp was trying to figure out how we can make this happen. Not as a dance-off, cause that’s not the conversation me and Michael had. I put that out there for public consumption. What I was getting at is the world’s greatest tour ever. Michael Jackson and MC Hammer, “Whose Bad?”

This is what Michael and I had a great discussion about and we were trying to figure out how to make it happen. , I made it clear to the public he’s always been one of my biggest inspirations ever. Him and the Godfather of Soul. The whole thing was if I say I’m challenging Michael to a dance-off we might just see how much interest we can generate for this tour. I said Michael you know who’s bad? Me and you, cause we gonna have all the, all the money. He keeps me busy. You never know. I think other than Michael, we can never lose.

Can I tell you got to tell you what Mike was telling me was? He said, “I like it Hammer, but it can’t be Hammer versus Michael. See, we can’t never be against each other.” I say “you, right Mike, you right.”

AllHipHop: People want to know about you and new music and some have specifically mentioned gospel music. If that is still in your arsenal of music that you’re putting out?

MC Hammer: The new album, it’s called Scars Over Bars. And I deal with a lot. And so in its totality, it will cover a lot of current events and things that are going on and positioning everything. We gonna always be able to dance and party in groove off Hammer music together. That’s my soul. But we will deal with how do we get through issues when mental health is an issue? How do we get through pain, so it was other things that I’ve covered throughout this, throughout the project that the totality of a man or a woman or human being. As a culture and the people as well. So is there, it’s all there. I’m going to drop it in in the first quarter, but I’m going to start leaking out music from it as early as next month. Okay. All right. [inaudible] Okay.

AllHipHop: There was a movie about you in my think the early 2000’s. I don’t know if you had anything to do with it, that was so long ago. But I was wondering if you were with would consider another one that spoke in a more modern fashion to your story.

MC Hammer: That was 20 years ago. And I did have a lot to do with, I was one of the executive producers on that. Without going into detail, I feel like man, if they willing to call this a life story at this point that good. Cause I’m going to get about two or three more of these. So the answer to your question is I didn’t want to do it is a new trend as a trend right now, right? Because that is the trend, right? However, because of the things I’ve been doing on the business side in Hollywood and the film industry right now and the relationships that I have the best way to say it is, is I now have a very deep and personal relationship with a director that I love.

Telling my story and it would all the layers and the depth of my story with him, that’s very interesting to me because of the type of filmmaker that he is and the approach. And knows the culture of this area extremely well. And I’m being coy cause I don’t want to name his name like that cause that’s not the thing to do. But I’m saying I will place the life story in his hands.

AllHipHop: Any last words you have for the people on this momentous event celebrating Oakland and the Bay?

MC Hammer: I just want to say it’s once in a lifetime. I last played the Oracle (now called the Oakland Arena) probably 20 something years ago. There’s a chance we won’t ever get to do this again. Come celebrate the moment and everybody else around you in the entire Bay. We just want to celebrate that right now and love each other. That’s what we want to do.

Pharrell Williams Embarrassed By “R####” Song “Blurred Lines”

(AllHipHop News) Pharrell Williams is “embarrassed” by his Robin Thicke collaboration “Blurred Lines” after being forced to recognize the lyrics of the track are disrespectful towards women.

The 46-year-old music producer co-wrote the 2013 song with Thicke and rapper T.I., and he now accepts it promotes derogatory and sexist views.

As a result, he’s now more sensitive about promoting harmful messages in his songs.

“I was also born in a different era, where the rules of the matrix at that time allowed a lot of things that would never fly today,” he told GQ for November’s New Masculinity issue. “Advertisements that objectify women. Song content. Some of my old songs, I would never write or sing today. I get embarrassed by some of that stuff. It just took a lot of time and growth to get to that place.”

When asked if the #MeToo movement against sexual harassment changed his views on the subject, Williams explained his viewpoints had already shifted.

“I think Blurred Lines’ opened me up,” he explained. “I didn’t get it at first. Because there were older white women who, when that song came on, they would behave in some of the most surprising ways ever. And I would be like, ‘Wow!’ They would have me blushing. So when there started to be an issue with it, lyrically, I was, like, ‘What are you talking about? There are women who really like the song and connect to the energy that just gets you up. And I know you want it – women sing those kinds of lyrics all the time’. So it’s like, ‘What’s r#### about that?'”

But the “Happy” hitmaker had to confront the harmful messages the song promoted.

“I realized that there are men who use that same language when taking advantage of a woman, and it doesn’t matter that that’s not my behavior or the way I think about things. It just matters how it affects women. And I was like, ‘Got it. I get it. Cool’,” he added.

Rolling Loud Hong Kong Canceled Over Security Concerns

(AllHipHop News) Coming off the news that the New York Police Department requested certain Hip Hop acts be banned from Rolling Loud New York, the festival’s organizers have called off the Hong Kong event as well. A note on the Rolling Loud Hong Kong Facebook page explained the cancellation.

“We are saddened to announce that Rolling Loud Hong Kong, which was scheduled to occur on October 19th and 20th at Art Park, West Kowloon Cultural District, is being cancelled. After consulting with security experts, it has been determined that it is not possible to organize the upcoming Rolling Loud Hong Kong edition as we had hoped without endangering the safety and well-being of our fans, artist, and staff,” read the Rolling Loud message, in part.

Rolling Loud Hong Kong was set to feature performances by Migos, Wiz Khalifa, Playboi Carti, Ski Mask The Slump God, Lil Skies, and other American rap acts. All tickets will be refunded in full.

Citizens of Hong Kong have been engaged in pro-democracy protests for months. The semi-autonomous region is under the rule of China as part of the “one country, two systems” policy.

The Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill Movement faces significant pushback from Hong Kong officials and the authoritative Chinese government. In addition, Hong Kong law enforcement is accused of using excessive force against demonstrators as thousands of people have reportedly been injured by police.

Is Former Happy Rapper Chingy, A Blood Now?

(AllHipHop Rumors) Sometimes I feel like I am out of the loop. This is particularly true about about the influx of gangs and stuff in Hip-Hop. Back in the day, I saw movies and documentaries about gangs and they used to beat their members in. You could see the realness in their SOULS and how much they are moved by the thing of theirs. This was before the proliferation of Hip-Hop. Now things have changed and I am confused.

Forget Tekashi! Chingy looks like he is in a gang now. Some of you may not remember Chingy because he was initially out a very long time ago as a member of Ludacris’s DTP crew. He was also maligned when a transsexual straight up LIED on him saying that they had a relationship of a sexual type! At the time, NOBODY believed Chingy. Why? I am not sure, but maybe because he called himself “Ching-A-Ling.” OR maybe it was because ol’ Chingy did music of a decidedly softer sort. I don’t hold that against him and he was successful. And then the music faded.

I am happy to let you know that Chingy is BACK. Check this out!

What do the visuals to this song say to you? I don’t know about you, but I see a man that has joined the Blood Nation later in life than the norm. I don’t know if he was always in a gang and just now started to represent, but it is a stark contrast to this, “Right Thurr.” BUT…if you look at the color scheme to Chingy’s past music, we might be surprised to see a lot of red.

I am suddenly confused.

What is more confusing is that zebra-style backpack that Chingy is wearing on the front of his body. It seems a bit odd to me if he is a Blood. Things are changing fast, but I just don’t see most gangsters rock their clothing like this.

T.I. Talks Celebrating Cardi B & Nicki Minaj Instead Of Pitting Them Against Each Other

(AllHipHop News) Earlier this month, Tip “T.I.” Harris was catching the wrath of Nicki Minaj’s fanbase for suggesting she could not be on the same Top 50 rappers lists as her rival Lil Kim. Harris had another discussion about Minaj, this time his comments centered around her feud with Cardi B.

T.I. and Cardi stopped by the Rap Radar podcast to promote their Netflix competition show Rhythm + Flow. While sitting with Elliott Wilson and Brian “B. Dot” Miller, the expediTIously host addressed the backlash he also received for putting art lauding both Cardi and Nicki in the same Lil Trap House Pop Up installation.

“Everybody [was like], ‘How could you? [Cardi] hasn’t been rapping long enough! She ain’t put out enough! You’re being disrespectful to Nicki!’ When does celebrating two queens become disrespectful to one? I never understood that,” said Tip. “This is an acknowledgment. Both of these young ladies have struggled and overcame obstacles and defied the odds to put themselves in positions to represent [themselves] and the next generation.”

He continued, “Why in the hell are you trying to pit one against the other? Whether they have their own personal differences, that ain’t my job to perpetuate that. And I ain’t got to choose a side. Unlike you miserable, lonely motherf*ckers. I have my own opinion. I’m a free thinker, and free thinkers think freely.”

Hip Hop newcomer Megan Thee Stallion shared a similar opinion about the matter in August. Hot Girl Meg said, “[Nicki and Cardi] are two different people, two different rappers. It’s not even the same. I feel like we need to stop trying to compare them. I love both of them, so I would definitely like to collab with Cardi too.”

Casanova Discusses Recording A New Song With DMX

(AllHipHop News) Many members of the Hip Hop community are expressing thoughts and prayers for Earl “DMX” Simmons. The New Yorker checked himself back into rehab to address addiction concerns.

Fans of Dark Man X will apparently get to hear new rhymes from the emcee in the near future. Brooklyn rapper Casanova talked to Ebro Darden on Apple Music’s Beats 1 about an upcoming DMX record.

That is the best sh*t ever in the world because he’s a f*cking GOAT and I love it,” said Casanova. The Behind These Scars creator added, “It’s just dope man. He’s a dope artist. I can’t wait. It should be dropping – the video – on Friday. He went crazy on there.”

DMX has not released a studio LP since 2012’s Undisputed. He recently joined forces with his longtime production partner Swizz Beatz and MMG boss Rick Ross for a song titled “Just in Case” for the EPIX series Godfather of Harlem.

Travis Scott Says Stormi Gives Him The Energy He Needs

(AllHipHop News) Travis Scott considers daughter Stormi a “battery” who gives him “tremendous energy.”

The 28-year-old rapper recently split from partner Kylie Jenner earlier this month.

And in an interview with GQ Germany magazine, Travis gushed about his little girl and the change she’s had on him.

Calling becoming a father the “most impressive thing that’s ever happened,” Travis added: “Stormi is like a battery, which has given me tremendous energy. (She) showed me so many things that I did not (get before). Many things in life I only noticed when my daughter was born.”

In the interview, which was translated from German by Life and Style magazine, the Astroworld rapper continued: “Watching your own daughter grow older every day is the most magical experience in the world, and I’ve gained a lot of passion for other areas of my life as well — I was hardly able to get excited in the past.”

Rapper Stormzy Is Credited For An Increase In Students To Cambridge

(AllHipHop News) Stormzy has been credited with an increase in admissions of black students to Cambridge University.

The prestigious educational institution teamed up with Stormzy in 2018 to create a new scholarship after damning statistics revealed from 2010 to 2015, around a quarter of Cambridge University’s 31 colleges failed to admit any black British students.

The “Shut Up” rapper has now granted scholarships to four students, paying their tuition fees and living costs for two black students each year.

Cambridge has revealed that in 2019, the figures for black students were up 50 percent on the previous year, due in part to what has been dubbed the “Stormzy effect.”

Jon Beard, director of Cambridge’s admissions office told Time magazine: “It’s made a real difference to our numbers already.”

Black students made up 3.4 percent of new undergraduates being admitted to Cambridge, with 91 beginning their studies in 2019, a fifty percent increase in the 61 students admitted the previous academic year.

There are now more than 200 black students attending Cambridge as undergraduates, a record for the institution.

The news comes as Stormzy was declared a “next-generation leader” by the U.S. magazine.

In the accompanying interview, the “Vossi Bop” hitmaker explained how his own educational success attracted a lot of media attention.

“They’re always a bit shocked that there’s academic brilliance in a young black South London brother with a street background,” Stormzy said. “If you saw a group of lads outside the chicken shop on push-bikes, I’m sure a lot of them are academically brilliant. Little did you know!”
