Nicki Minaj’s Husband Asks Judge To Be By Rapper’s Side When She Gives Birth

(AllHipHop News) Nicki Minaj’s husband is asking a judge to adjust the terms of his pretrial release so he can be by the pregnant rapper’s side when she gives birth.

Kenneth Petty is currently free on bond as he awaits trial for failing to register as a sex offender in California after he and Minaj moved to the state last summer from his native New York, where he was convicted for attempted rape in 1995.

The terms of his bond release require Petty to stay in California and obey a curfew, but he is seeking permission to travel with his wife on business, serving as her manager, so he can be present when she goes into labor, according to court papers.

In the documents, Petty claims authorities at the U.S. Attorney’s Office and pretrial services office have no objections to his request, so he simply needs the judge’s approval to lift the curfew and travel restrictions.

A ruling has yet to be made.

The news comes days after Minaj confirmed rumors suggesting she is expecting the couple’s first child by sharing photos from a fun maternity shoot.

She is said to be around six months pregnant.

The couple wed in October.

Rappers Dominate The 2020 MTV Video Music Awards

(AllHipHop News) The 2020 MTV Video Music Award nominees have dropped and to no one’s surprise, Hip-Hop is straight housing the place.

Up for Video of The Year are two rappers and their special featured artists: Eminem ft. Juice WRLD’s “Godzilla” and Future ft. Drake’s “Life Is Good.”

Competition is stiff for them as they are up against top names like Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd.

DaBaby and Megan Thee Stallion are up for Artist of The Year. Post Malone, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, and Lady Gaga are also being considered for the incredible honor.

When it comes down to the Best Collaborations, it is not shocking that Future and Drake are up there as serious contenders. Karol G ft. Nicki Minaj’s “Tusa” and Black Eyed Peas ft. J. Balvin’s “RITMO” is sure to shake up the category.

Ms. Karol G has been called the Rihanna of the Latin world and will surely bring her sex appeal to the stage should she be offered an opportunity to perform.

Where you would expect rappers to dominate is in the Best Hip-Hop category.

Who are talents that MTV believes are the Best Hip-Hop songs of 2019? It looks like they got it right with acts that fans love and enjoy.

DaBaby’s “BOP,” Eminem ft. Juice WRLD’s “Godzilla,” Future ft. Drake’s “Life Is Good,” Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage,” Roddy Ricch’s “The Box,” and Travis Scott’s “Highest In The Room” are all up for the award.

A few new categories are going to make it to the show: Video for Good, Best Music Video From Home, and Best Quarantine Performance.

Lil Baby scoots in there with his “The Bigger Picture” for his do-gooder video. Drake slides in there with his “Toosie Slide” for Best Music Video From Home.

Regardless of who is nominated for The Best Quarantine Performance, there is only one real winner … trust us … it will be DJ D-Nice. He has to be the winner; his Instagram show Club Quarantine is bodying life — not just the show.

Other Hip-Hop acts up for awards are as follows:

Best Direction: Doja Cat’s “Say So”

Best Cinematography: Camila Cabello ft. DaBaby’s “My Oh My”

Best Art Direction: A$AP Rocky’s “Babushka Boi”

Best Visual Effects: Travis Scott’s “HIGHEST IN THE ROOM”

Best Choreography: DaBaby’s “BOP”

It is amazing to know that Drake goes into the season with 4 nominations and DaBaby, Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, Roddy Ricch, and Future are tied with 3 nominations.

Best of luck to everyone. The 2020 Video Music Awards airs on MTV, Sunday, August 30, 2020, at 8:00 pm.

NLE Choppa Recruits Lil Baby For “Narrow Road” Single

(AllHipHop News) In June, Lil Baby informed his 3.3 million Twitter followers that he was ready to start charging $100,000 for a feature. The Quality Control Music rhymer’s stock is extremely high at the moment, so getting him on a record could be a platinum decision.

NLE Choppa was able to secure Lil Baby for his new single “Narrow Road.” The track serves as a forerunner for the Warner recording artist’s major-label debut album, Top Shotta, which is scheduled for release on August 7.

The Memphis-bred performer dropped his Cottonwood EP via UnitedMasters in late 2019. That project hosted songs such as “Shotta Flow,” “Shotta Flow (Remix)” featuring Blueface, and “Cruze” featuring Meek Mill.

Jaden Smith’s MSFTSrep Launches Limited-Edition “Trippy Summer” Collection

(AllHipHop News) Earlier this month, Jaden Smith returned with new music in the form of the “Cabin Fever” single. The 22-year-old Hollywood heir is now offering his fans new streetwear as well.

Smith’s “Trippy Summer”  limited-edition capsule was inspired by the counterculture hippie movement of the 1960s. The musician/actor/entrepreneur is said to be seeking to re-establish that sense of peace, love, and self-expression with his clothing line.

“Trippy Summer is about celebrating the magic of summer,” states Smith. “It’s organic and it stems from what we’re really about. This whole summer, we’ve had to create our own version of ‘summer,’ in a way, due to the condition of the world. So, we created an aesthetic and a feel that equals our experience of the past couple months.”

The “Trippy Summer” designs were also influenced by the Dutch collective known as The Fool as well as iconic Rock & Roll guitarist/singer Jimi Hendrix. Smith first debuted the t-shirts, hoodies, swim trunks, and caps in August 2019 at a pop-up in Los Angeles.

Jaden Smith and MSFTSrep’s “Trippy Summer” collection is available for purchase at msftrep.com. Some items are already sold out at the online store.

Beyoncé Releases “Already” Music Video From ‘Black Is King’ Film

(AllHipHop News) Beyoncé Knowles-Carter’s new visual album premiered exclusively on Disney+ overnight. Black Is King quickly became Twitter’s #1 trending topic on Friday morning.

The 85-minute musical spectacle was inspired by 2019’s The Lion King. The Texas-raised singer/actress/filmmaker provided the voice of Nala in the photorealistic computer-animated remake.

Previously, Beyoncé released the movie’s companion album, The Lion King: The Gift, which featured acts such as Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams, and Childish Gambino. Music from the project is heavily used in Black Is King.

Plus, last night also saw the arrival of the deluxe version of The Lion King: The Gift. Beyoncé also posted the official “Already” music video, featuring Shatta Wale and Major Lazer, on YouTube and Instagram.

Beyoncé wrote on Instagram:

I typically keep comments short and sweet, but I just watched the trailer with my family and I’m excited. please don’t get me hype “Black Is King” is a labor of love. It is my passion project that I have been filming, researching and editing day and night for the past year. I’ve given it my all and now it’s yours. It was originally filmed as a companion piece to “The Lion King: The Gift” soundtrack and meant to celebrate the breadth and beauty of Black ancestry. I could never have imagined that a year later, all the hard work that went into this production would serve a greater purpose. The events of 2020 have made the film’s vision and message even more relevant, as people across the world embark on a historic journey. We are all in search of safety and light. Many of us want change. I believe that when Black people tell our own stories, we can shift the axis of the world and tell our REAL history of generational wealth and richness of soul that are not told in our history books. With this visual album, I wanted to present elements of Black history and African tradition, with a modern twist and a universal message, and what it truly means to find your self-identity and build a legacy. I spent a lot of time exploring and absorbing the lessons of past generations and the rich history of different African customs. While working on this film, there were moments where I’ve felt overwhelmed, like many others on my creative team, but it was important to create a film that instills pride and knowledge. I only hope that from watching, you leave feeling inspired to continue building a legacy that impacts the world in an immeasurable way. I pray that everyone sees the beauty and resilience of our people. This is a story of how the people left MOST BROKEN have EXTRAORDINARY gifts.❤️✊ Thank you to Blitz, Emmanuel, Ibra, Jenn, Pierre, Dikayl, Kwasi and all the brilliant creatives. Thank you to all at Disney for giving this Black woman the opportunity to tell this story. This experience has been an affirmation of a grander purpose. My only goal is that you watch it with your family and that it gives you pride.

Benny The Butcher & DJ Drama Present Black Soprano Family Mixtape

(AllHipHop News) Griselda emcee Benny The Butcher and his Black Soprano Family imprint teamed up with DJ Drama for a new Gangsta Grillz project. The 8-track Da Respected Sopranos arrived today (July 31).

“As the best rapper alive, this is a dream come true to me. A dream that started in my head in 2011 while I was in prison. The seeds were planted while I was at Elmira correctional facility and when I was released in 2012, I’ve spent every day since working to bring this vision to fruition,” states Benny.

The Buffalo native continues, “It’s been one of my dreams to do a label deal and put my homies in position to win. I want to expose the talent from my area and I want to expose the world to the talent they may not have heard unless I bring it to you.”

Benny is helping to introduce the Black Soprano Family roster with the new mixtape. BSF also consists of Rick Hyde, Heem, LoveBoat Luciano, Jonesy, FlexxBaby, Young World, and DJ Shay.

“This Gangsta Grillz tape was a dope experience, I just wanted to show the world what I could do, and I got more left in the clip. I really came from the streets so I’m just telling my story,” says Heem.

Rick Hyde adds, “Linking with Drama was fire, I just wanted to go in on every track, this is a competition for me and killing every track is my goal. Drama is legendary and BSF is synonymous with street music, the combination just makes sense.”

Swirl Films Secures Life Rights Of Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell

(AllHipHop News) Swirl Films is partnering with Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell to develop and produce scripted and unscripted projects. The independent television and urban film production company secured the life rights of the Hip Hop legend.

“I am very excited to be a part of the Swirl Films family. Eric Tomosunas’ experience in music, television, and film made the decision to partner with him and his company a no brainer,” states Uncle Luke.

The former 2 Live Crew member continues, “My content over the years has been tied to both, and with Eric and his team, I am confident that our partnership will be a fruitful one. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

Campbell was instrumental in introducing the Miami Bass sound to international audiences. He also helped set legal precedents in the United States when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in his favor in a case about free speech rights.

“Luke’s influence on not only the entertainment industry, but on society as a whole is undeniable,” said Eric Tomosunas, founder of Swirl Films. “He is a prime example of how fearlessness and determination transcend Hip Hop to inspire a generation, and we are honored to bring his extraordinary stories to the screen.”

Swirl Films was founded in 2001 and went on to produce series such as Bounce TV’s Saints & Sinners. In addition, the Atlanta-based company recently announced the creation of the Black Life Film Fest.

Post Malone Has Problems With Mandates To Wear A Mask To Prevent Coronavirus

Entertainer Post Malone might want to watch just how rebellious his talk gets when he does interviews. As a “pop star” or “rapper,” the right-leaning website Breitbart, is celebrating his position on mandatory mask-wearing.

On “The Joe Rogan Experience” on Wednesday he flexed about how he is not down with states making people wear the protective gear to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

He started by saying that the idea of someone telling him what to do makes him feel like a schoolboy.

“It’s like me in school having to f###### tuck in my shirt or else you get detention or whatever. It’s weird to be forced to wear something,” Post Malone said.

He also was upset about the fines that are often imposed in some states for not wearing them, pricey ones sometimes in the hundreds.

“$300. Because maybe someone sees you eating and you don’t have a mask on. And then you’re stuck with a f###### ticket. It blows my mind.”

Super ill-informed, the award-winning artist had no idea about the process involved with wearing a mask while you are eating. No one is gonna fine you for eating without one.

First, according to EatThis.com, you arrive with a mask. Then, you remove the mask when your food arrives. Once your food arrives, cautiously remove your mask by pulling it from the front part of the fabric. Before you eat, put the mask in a bag.

If you lay it down you could contaminate the dining area. If you don’t have one … ask the restaurant to provide one to you. Then, go on and eat your heart out.

When you are done, make sure you place it back on.

All is not lost.

Post Malone believes that while the states should not tell people what to do, people should care enough about the well beings of others to work to protect each other.

“At the end of the day, it all comes down to respect for other people. It’s not a government thing. You shouldn’t be forced to wear a mask — but you should. And that’s because I respect you as a fellow human,” Post Malone said.

Ja Rule Wants Heads To Roll At ESPN Over Tweet

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Ja Rule is calling for ESPN’s social media assistant to be fired after displaying “very unprofessional” behavior by poking fun at the star online.

The “Always On Time” hitmaker was left far from impressed on Sunday after viral video footage of Ja Rule struggling to hype up the crowd at a 2019 National Basketball Association (NBA) halftime show performance was reposted on the official Twitter account of the U.S. sports network.

The incident, which took place during a Milwaukee Bucks game in Wisconsin, featured Ja Rule asking the crowd, “Are you ready? Are you ready?” – only to be met with an embarrassing silence, prompting him to quip, “I guess not”, as he launched into his set.

“Never forget this Ja Rule moment,” read the caption on the weekend ESPN Twitter post.

It’s not known why the person behind the tweet decided to revisit the 17-month-old incident, but Ja Rule made it clear he wasn’t happy as he responded to the jibe.

“I usually mind my business and ignore the white noise but I think it’s very unprofessional of @espn to try and diminish or discredit who and what I am to this culture,” he vented. “Whoever post for your social accounts @espn needs to be FIRED.”

Ja Rule, who again blamed a technical issue for the lack of crowd noise on camera, has yet to receive a response from network bosses.

Wiley Relents And Apologizes After Being Banned From The Internet

(AllHipHop News) British grime rapper Wiley has publicly apologized for his recent anti-Semitic online rant, insisting he is “not racist”.

The “Wearing My Rolex” hitmaker has been under fire ever since he began posting offensive comments on Twitter on Friday when he declared Jews make him “sick” compared the Jewish community to the Ku Klux Klan, and insisted Israel should not be a Jewish state.

His outburst led Wiley to be dropped by his longtime manager, John Woolf, while he also became the subject of an investigation by Britain’s Metropolitan Police.

Earlier this week, he was banned from Facebook and Instagram, with Twitter bosses also following suit and permanently shutting down his profile on Wednesday, days after suspending his account.

Now, in an interview with Sky News, Wiley, real name Richard Kylea Cowie Jr., is expressing remorse for his Twitter tirade.

“My comments should not have been directed to all Jews or Jewish people,” he said. “I want to apologize for generalizing, and I want to apologize for comments that were looked at as anti-Semitic.”

His remarks were reportedly made following a dispute with Woolf, who is Jewish.

“I just want to apologize for generalizing and going outside of the people who I was talking to within the workspace and workplace I work in,” Wiley added.

“I’m not racist, you know. I’m a businessman. My thing should have stayed between me and my manager, I get that.”

Sky News officials teased a snippet of the interview on Wednesday, with the full chat due to be broadcast at a later date, according to the BBC.

Kanye West Team Messed Up, Misses Chance To Be On Massachusetts Ballot

(AllHipHop News) Despite how hard he is trying, it seems that Kanye West might need to sit out this election if he truly wants to be the President of the United States of America someday.

According to the Associated Press, the born-again Christian has failed to submit the proper amount of signatures to be rightly considered for the ballot in Massachusetts. While it is a blow to the Team Yeezy campaign, it may be a blessing in disguise for Democrats.

Many believe that if Kanye West were to appear on the ballot as a candidate, younger voters would be more impressed with his celebrity versus focusing the issues that will impact their lives politically.

If that were to happen in this traditionally liberal state, in this very important election, the Democratic vote might be split. Kanye’s popularity is greater than many believed.

A YouGov poll of 1,000 American adults after he teased that he was going to run in 2020, found that at least 6% would seriously consider voting for the rap star.

Over 20% said that while they would not vote for him but they would like to see him run.

He says that he is serious about the election, and many are starting to believe him. Except, his team is not doing the best job at supporting the dream.

Apparently, not only did they not submit the 5,000 signatures needed to get on the ballot, no one ever submitted nomination papers.

Battle Rapper Bill Collector Was Not With LB da Boss When He Died

(AllHipHop News) As more news emerges regarding the tragic death of battle rapper, LB da Boss, clarity has come on the role friend and battle rapper Bill Collector had in what has come to be one of the saddest moments in culture’s history.

On Sunday, July 26th LB was on a boat that turned over into the 20 ft. body of warm water while on a fishing trip with friends on the Hopewell Lake in French Creek State Park.

Bill Collector, whose real name is Eric Wilkinson, was not with the rapper on the boat when it capsized.

The confusion came because he was one of the first responders and voices to ask for help.

His urgent cry for help on Sunday almost immediately after it happened proved just as heroic as it was desperate. Understanding how quickly a “Search and Rescue” could turn into a “Search and Recover,” prompted him to go to Facebook and post frantically. His friend’s life was at stake.

July 27 8:32 AM

“Yo my brother London LB Fields went missing yesterday after a fishing trip and we need help searching for him! Nobody is helping us! Not the police, the news or the n#### he went with! If anybody wants to help we are at French Creek, Hopewell Lake! Its only us and one f##### boat! ”

July 27 11:51

“Update: The Search arrived at 10:30am, 2 boats and a scuba team”

July 27, 7:34 PM

“Update: everybody involved is here and stories check out. No word yet but we still out here!”

July 27 10:31 PM

“Search Party going out at 6am. Who coming to help find bro? We need help! Thank you to everyone that came today.”

July 28 11:04

“I have no service at the Park/Lake so message or text me if you coming to he[l]p search and I’ll answer when I can! We meeting by the Pool area!”

LB was the only person not accounted for and his body was discovered on Tuesday, July 28th.

Jaden Explains Struggle With Anxiety During Pandemic

(AllHipHop News) Jaden Smith has been struggling with “really crazy” anxiety throughout the coronavirus crisis.

The 22-year-old performer, who has dropped his famous surname for his music career and wants to be known as just Jaden, opened up on his recent battles with anxiety and trying to record his new album during the Covid-19 pandemic in a chat with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.

“The anxiety is going through the roof for everybody, and it’s crazy,” he shared. “And I never really knew what anxiety was until recently, either.

“I’m just stressed about everything, and it’s really crazy,” Jaden added. “Sometimes it’s work-related, and then sometimes, you can really see that it’s that true, genuine anxiety, where it’s just like anything and everything.”

The “Icon” hitmaker, whose parents are Jada Pinkett-Smith and Hollywood star Will Smith, has found “talking about it with people is the best way to get over it.”

After releasing albums Syre and Erys, Jaden has been working on his third record, Cool Tape Volume 3, but he admitted that recording amid the pandemic and quarantine has been “really hard.”

“You can’t get into the studio with anybody, you can’t even get into the studio at all,” he sighed. “So I have to record being inside of my house, and the engineer has to engineer me from his house, and he’ll use this app to control my computer.”

While he hopes the record will be released this summer, he doesn’t “want to to get anyone’s hopes up” and then miss the deadlines.

“I’m going to try to release the album within the summertime. It’ll fit there really nicely,” he added.

17-Year-Old Rapper Lucus To Break Through From Copenhagen To America

Lucus is 17 years old and already living out his dreams. His sound and ability to make all types of music has deemed him a “young Post Malone,” creating within the genres of rap, pop, and everything in between. Currently living in Copenhagen and on summer break from school, Lucus is a musician/kid who “likes to make music and wants to share it with people.”

It was his song “Cash On Me” uploaded to SoundCloud that garnered him the buzz he needed to be covered on various blogs, while growing his fanbase. Leading up to his debut release, Lucus has had the pleasure of working with well-respected producers Internet Money and Take a Daytrip, and artist Lil Mosey.

AllHipHop caught up with Lucus via FaceTime for his first interview ever, discussing his upbringing in Copenhagen, desire to break into the US market, his single “Alone,” working with Internet Money, and more!

AllHipHop: Being from Copenhagen, what was the household like growing up?

Lucus: Really normal, but pretty different. I’ve always been into American music culture and that’s not exactly a popular thing here. I’ve been on my own with that, obviously it’s been quite a challenge to get my music out on the other side of the planet. Normally if I was from Houston, then I’d share it to all my friends in Houston. It’d spread through Texas, then the rest of the country — but it’s not like that here. In the start, I kept it a secret. I didn’t show it to any of my friends at all because I was scared it’d spread in Denmark, with the algorithms. I intentionally used the BPMs and made it look like I was from the States on SoundCloud, so it got shared in the States. It worked! That’s why I’m here, only a year ago.

AllHipHop: What makes you want to break into the US market so bad?

Lucus: There’s 6 million people. At first, I was going to do Danish music, but I didn’t want to settle. I felt I was settling for less. I thought “let’s go with it.” I used to make beats only, then I started making English songs. I couldn’t switch languages because when you start making English songs, it’s really hard to switch languages. No one really listens to English music here, to be honest. It’s really different. I’ve been really lucky, honestly, that’s what I feel like at leas

AllHipHop: Biggest influences growing up?

Lucus: I used to listen to music on a s##tty Apple iPod when I was little. Obviously, Michael Jackson. My grandma got me to play the piano, so I used to listen to classical music from a very young age. I’ve always been listening to whatever’s popular. A lot of Danish music, which is the s##tty version of American music. [chuckles]

AllHipHop: At what point did you realize you could do music for a living?

Lucus: I planned everything out. I had a few songs, started putting them on SoundCloud. I remember studying how the music industry worked. I was in 8th grade, I had all the time in the world. I was following all the A&Rs on Instagram, looking at how they’re breaking artists. I thought “I’m going to try and do that.” I was posted on Elevator’s Youtube channel, that got me a lot of traction. I started getting hit up by labels, everything’s looking pretty good.

It’s not like I’m living a lavish lifestyle. I’m still in school, I still live with my mom. I’m definitely not going to be working some s##tty job though. I used to work at a grocery store. [chuckles] I started making money from doing features and selling beats, then I started taking less shifts and I got fired. I got signed the month after I got fired, pretty fun story.

AllHipHop: How long were you working at the grocery store?

Lucus: A year probably, it was an afterschool thing. It was horrible, I hated that s##t.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CBEooM_Dj0u

AllHipHop: Being only 17, are you able to still be a kid?

Lucus: Oh yeah, of course. Obviously now with Corona, I can’t go to LA which sucks. I miss it a lot, it’s amazing there. I make all my music myself, I produce it. I’m making it from a bedroom. I don’t need to go to a studio with 10 writers and an engineer. I’m pretty self-sufficient, doing everything myself as usual.

AllHipHop: What inspires you creatively?

Lucus: Honestly, everything. Sometimes I wake up with an idea, but I usually sit down and it’s whatever I’m feeling. If I sit and play the piano, I get some chords. What I’m feeling in the moment, I go with it. Usually, I’m very hyper. I’ll work 10 minutes on one song and it’s completely unfinished, I work on 5 other unfinished songs and go back and forth because I’m so impatient. It’s a really weird workflow.

AllHipHop: What did “Cash On Me” do for your career?

Lucus: It’s the song that got me on Elevator. I don’t think I’d be here now if it wasn’t for that song. It’s a s##tty song, but I knew that’s what I needed to get to the point I want to. It’s a classic melodic SoundCloud, I knew it’d be appealing. I thought “okay, that’s what I need to make.” It definitely meant a lot. I got my first 1,000 followers on Instagram, I’m like “s##t, I’m famous.” Got a relationship with all the Youtube channels and kept posting on there, which eventually got me signed.

AllHipHop: What’s the inspo behind your name?

Lucus: My name’s Marcus, then the Scandinavian Viking name Ludvik. It’s the first 2 letters of that (Lu), then ‘c##’ from Marcus.

AllHipHop: You just released “Alone,” who or what inspired this one?

Lucus: That’s the only song that actually has any meaning whatsoever. I know I’m 17, so what do I know about love? But I had a girlfriend, she broke up with me. f##k you, I’ma make a song about you. That’s it.

AllHipHop: Does she know it’s about her?

Lucus: Yeah, we talk. It’s all love. I was just making songs, I made 10 songs that evening. I decided to drop it. I go with whatever I’m feeling in the moment but then, I was feeling pretty sad about the whole situation.

AllHipHop: Talk about working with Internet Money.

Lucus: Those are some really cool guys, they were actually part of the plan. “Okay s##t, I need to work up to be able to work with them.” Eventually I got there. I wanted to sign with them, but I ended up not doing that. They’re great, I really admire their beats. I used to watch their tutorials back in the day. A few months ago, I was at the Internet Money house in LA. This huge, cool ass house with all these plaques on the wall, that was really crazy. Definitely a dream come true to work with them, it’s surreal. I have no idea how I’m doing this s##t.

AllHipHop: What are you doing with MITS JUSTICE FUND?

Lucus: My label made a charity for #BlackLivesMatter, so I put it in my bio. We put $15K of the label’s money into that, then we’re matching all donations. I’m not American, but America has a lot of huge problems that needs to be worked on.

AllHipHop: What’s your love for fashion? You’ve worked with a few brands (Retro-Super-Future, Pleasures, Stussy, Babylon LA).

Lucus: I’ve worked with Pleasures, that’s my favorite brand honestly. I used to be really into sneakers when I was 12. Jermaine Kemp, who’s a creative director in LA linked me up with a ton of cool people. We work with a bunch of brands. Pleasures, they’re amazing. When he told me the name, I’m like “what? Holy s##t!” That’s amazing. I’m a music kid really, I’m not a fashion guru. I’m really a music nerd.

AllHipHop: What can we expect from your new single “Malibu”?

Lucus: Right now, I’m trying all this melodic rap. All the music has been sad-ish, but now it’s the summer. Even though it’s quarantine s##t, I wanted to make a happy summer song that’s fast. I sat down and tried to find some beats that were mellow, but also really happy and progressive. I couldn’t find anything so I ended up producing it myself. What would I listen to if I was driving in a droptop car around Malibu with my friends? It’s a good summer song.

AllHipHop: How much do you miss LA?

Lucus: A lot, oh my god! It’s literally the opposite of my life here. I’m a normal kid, in my bedroom making music. Going to school, doing boring s##t. When I’m there, it’s crazy ass parties with celebrities. It’s surreal, the ultimate gratification and also so motivating. A great experience every time.

AllHipHop: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Lucus: Hopefully on top. I want to do all types of different music. I want to do tours, I want to be the best. That’s what I’m shooting for.

Tyga Gets Into The Chicken Business With New Franchise

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Tyga wants to sink his teeth into the restaurant industry by launching his own virtual chicken company.

The “Rack City” hitmaker has cooked up the idea for Tyga Bites – baked, boneless, and antibiotic-free chicken tenders – and plans to offer the franchise to bosses at 500 existing U.S. eateries to teach staff members his secret recipe and help them survive during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The tenders will be available in black garlic, lemon black pepper, and peri-peri flavors, while customers can choose from 12 different sauces as dips, including buffalo, chunky blue cheese, garlic parm, homestyle ranch, and mango habanero.

Tyga is also serving up Tyga Tots, his take on the popular fried potato snacks, as well as chocolate chip cookies, and various beverages.

The food will be delivered to customers via online service Grubhub, and the hip-hop star admits the venture, which was concocted before the COVID-19 outbreak, is driven by his love of chicken tenders and nuggets – his go-to foods when he is hard at work in the studio.

“When I’m in the studio or on set, and I want something quick, I don’t want something heavy,” he told TMZ.

“Chicken nuggets and chicken tenders is probably the most common food worldwide with French fries, so I was like, let’s do something but a little healthier.”

And keeping the business virtual makes it easier for him as an entrepreneur: “For me, this is kinda safe too,” he shares. “I don’t have to deal with the headache of opening a restaurant, hiring staff, and doing all that extra stuff, so people who already have that in place can just franchise that (his brand) and do it themselves.”

Master P’s $25 Million Battle Over Cannabis Brand Settled

(AllHipHop News) Master P has settled with a company he claimed almost ruined his marijuana business.

The No Limit mogul and the Seattle-based private equity company called Privateer engaged in a partnership in March 2017.

The goal of their collaboration was supposed to produce, distribute, and market a series of cannabis products called “Master P’s Trees.”

The goal was to do a 50/50 split on promotion and production costs between the two parties.

The Ice Cream Man says that out of the blue, the company reneged on their weed deal, the actual month their first batch was supposed to hit the market.

Master P claimed Privateer never had any intention of honoring their contract. He believed that they had all alliance with him simply to have “an inside look into the urban and hip-hop demographic of cannabis users.”

As a result, the Hip-Hop businessman banged them in the head for $25 million, believing that would cover his out of pocket costs, damages he received by doing business with them, and a loss of projected income as a result of them backing out on their contractual arrangement.

The judge dismissed the case weeks after, according to GeekWire.com, the two parties made an undisclosed settlement. The outlet stated, “Miller dismissed all claims with prejudice. Privateer waived its awarded and pending sanctions against Miller, including misconduct related to his depositions.”
