Wu-Tang Affiliates Killarmy Returns During Pandemic With “Full Metal” Jackets

(AllHipHop Features) Hip-Hop has a rich history of warning listeners and the public to dangers, incidents, and matters that would eventually come true. Wu-affiliates Killarmy emerged in the 90s as one of the most successful groups to splinter off from the collective. Their albums Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars (1997), Dirty Weaponry (1998) and 2001’s Fear, Love & War offered ominous messaging, raw beats and foreboding lyrics about wars unseen. AllHipHop talked to producer 9th Prince, who talks about the group’s new album, coming out during the coronavirus pandemic and the current state of affairs.

On why the group came back during the deadly pandemic, Covid-19:

The album original release date was supposed to be April 17, 2020. We had that release date before the coronavirus threat started infecting our communities. At the same time we felt like it’s the perfect time to release this album so we push it up to April 10. We don’t condone violence or terrorism but it’s no secret that our last album “Fear, Love and War” was released on September 11, 2001. the same day as the towers drop. These past few weeks has been infecting the world physically and mentally. Most people know we always tried to warn people of times like this through our music. Right now Killarmy got the soundtrack to the people’s living conditions at this very moment. Something to open your third eye too and also uplift their spirits so they can look forward to a better tomorrow. At this very moment, everyone is home, indoors, some with love ones, some just home alone. People are searching for answers from the government, doctors, spiritual leaders, but I must say, look no further because Killarmy got the vaccine to heal and cure all sicknesses.

AllHipHop published an article about how Hip-Hop prepared many for the virus in a lot of ways. 9th addresses being one of those groups talking about similar topics:

Like Chuck said in that article: Hip-Hop has always been ahead of the curve, forcing society to look at its ugly face. I couldn’t agree more. We loved the write up you did about “How Hip-Hop prepared you for coronavirus” and we are feeling appreciated that we are being acknowledge for trying to awaking the masses of the Planet Earth. Let’s just hope others can inhale some of this Supreme wisdom that we been trying to rain on their brains for years.

On how he has been maintaining amidst the Covid-19 pandemic:

I’ve just been laying low staying out of dodge. I’ll run my errands in the day then take it back in the laboratory. Reaching out to close ones to see if everyone is ok. I miss going to the gym tho, I can’t front! But I just been in the crib kind of meditating and staying active through phones calls and emails. I be in the lab cooking up some beats , doing push ups to maintain my physical. Some productive energy to make things a little smoother during this pandemic and shutdown.

How has the Killarmy sound changed over the years:

Truthfully, the sound hasn’t changed over the years, just the technology and the way of creating music. With all this commercial rap music being pumped out to the people , everything sounding so clean and ignorant at the same time. I’m very happy to have that same gritty New York sounding Hip-Hop from the 90s and early 2000s. But I will say our sound is just updated 90s gritty hiphop in 2020. We are far from old school, we just know our sound and fan base. For years, a lot people have dreaming of this kind of Hip-Hop making a return, in which it really never left, it just went way underground. Because the industry can never predict what’s gong to happen next. That’s why we never followed the industry or try to be like the industry. Hip-Hop has and always be created from the streets. That’s why we got love for people like the Griselda moment because they keeping it authentic with their sound in which help make Hip-Hop what it was in the past and today. We got love for the youth of today doing what they are doing with this music but at the same time we are here to add on, l so this Hip-Hop community can have a balance.

How incarcerated member Killa Sin is doing:

He’s good, I spoke to him a few weeks ago. He’s maintaining. His spirit staying strong.

DaBaby Shows A Higher Level Of Artistry With “Find My Way” Song And Video

(AllHipHop News) The public has gotten so used to seeing DaBaby at the center of the Hip-Hop news cycle for drama.

Truthfully, the drama clouds the truly gifted artist that this kid really is.

But this time he is dropping something, and it is not a fan, from a knock-out blow.

The North Carolina rapper has released his first joint of the year and it has his fans engaged and searching.

Entitled “Find My Way,” shows a little different skill set for the emcee. The DJ Kid-produced beat pairs up perfectly with DaBaby’s rhyme flow and seems to demonstrate some artistic development.

To accompany the song, DaBaby has wrangled up a mini-movie starring the “Be My BOOOOOYYYYYfriend” influencer, B. Simone as his love interest.

What makes the video absolutely delicious is the impeccable acting that envelops the song. For 10 minutes, we are treated to Reel Goats’ beautiful cinematography — watching with suspense as this Bonnie and Clyde due rides down a dusty road running from some unnamed history.

B. Simone has been making boss moves. Her Zeus reality show, “You’re My Boooyfriend,” and her coveted role as a regular on Nick Cannon’s “Wild ‘N Out Hip-Hop” comedy show proves that she is more than capable of leading a feature film.

Not like a BET special. Not a Lifetime or Oxygen, fallen R&B B-level diva biopic. Nothing funny.

Nothing Tyler Perryish… though TP does come through with the checks and films that are culturally relevant for a huge population… but not one of them.

B. Simone could easily be in a film across from Viola Davis, Angela Bassett or any one of those queens that be at the Essence pre-Oscar brunch every year.

Her acting is part of what made this video something people might want to watch over and over again.

We’ve started to associate DaBaby with all the wrong stuff… sure his music is party-worthy… but is he growing as an artist?

Is he living up to the hype that has had people for the last couple of years champion him (even amidst all of his legal woes)?

With this project, both song and video, the answer is “Hell, yeah.”

Cardi B Hospitalized Over Stomach Issues

(AllHipHop News) Cardi B has admitted herself to the hospital after suffering “real bad stomach problems for four days.”

The “Bodak Yellow” rapper took to Twitter, where she shared a picture of her hospital bracelet and wrote that she had admitted herself after suffering bad stomach pains in since-deleted posts.

“Honestly, cause I been having some real bad stomach problems for four days, I went to the ER last night,” she penned, alongside a crying face emoji.

By this morning, however, it did indeed seem as though the “Kream” star was feeling a little better, as she took to Instagram to share a meme of Disney character Donald Duck which read: “When you’re hungry but all the food in the house needs to be cooked.”

“Mood right f##king now,” she wrote alongside the post.

The health scare comes amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, for which Cardi slammed the U.S. government over its response to the public health crisis.

“Are y’all spraying s##t in the street, are y’all gonna one by one take our temperature to see if we got it?” she said during an Instagram Live stream. “How am I supposed to know that I have the Coronavirus?”

She previously confessed she was “losing my f##king mind” as she begged for answers from the government about the pandemic.

The Weeknd Celebrates Making History By Topping 5 Billboard Charts Simultaneously

(AllHipHop News) It has been a huge week for Canadian sensation Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye. Over the last four days, the XO record label founder scored his fourth #1 album (After Hours) and his fifth #1 single (“Blinding Lights”).

The Weeknd does not just lead the Billboard 200 chart and Hot 100 chart. He also sits at #1 on the current Artist 100 chart, Hot 100 Songwriters chart, and the Hot Producers chart.

The R&B/Pop megastar is the first act to hold the #1 spot on those five rankings at the same time. Abel spoke to Billboard about making music history this week.

“It feels like a huge blessing. As artists, being recognized for what we do is the ultimate validation. I share this honor with my team and my fans who have been tirelessly supporting me,” said The Weeknd.

After Hours arrived as the world was dealing with the deadly coronavirus pandemic. Besides the medical, economic, and social hardships caused by the situation, there have also been reports that music streaming numbers actually decreased in the United States over the last few weeks.

“It’s very bizarre. At first, I felt like it might have been insensitive to release it, but to my fans, I felt like I would have been doing a disservice to push it back,” said The Weeknd about promoting his album during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The three-time Grammy winner continued, “Hopefully it can help some people escape our reality, if only for an hour out of their day, while we all work hard to get through this together.”

Chance The Rapper Reveals Celebrity Targets For Quibi’s ‘Punk’d’ Reboot

(AllHipHop News) Jeffrey Katzenberg’s short-form mobile video platform known as Quibi will officially begin streaming on April 6. On that date, the highly-anticipated new version of Punk’d from MTV Studios and STXtelevision will debut as well.

Grammy-winning recording artist Chance The Rapper is hosting the series. The Chicago representative is set to prank an all-star list of celebrity marks including Lil Nas X, Migos, Megan Thee Stallion, French Montana, Ty Dolla $ign, Miles Brown, Marsai Martin, and Liza Koshy.

Keeping Up with the Kardashians cast member Scott Disick will serve as a guest judge. In addition, Quibi is offering three bonus episodes of Punk’d at the service’s launch for people that enter their email at Quibi.com before April 6.

Punk’d originally aired on MTV beginning in 2003 with That ’70s Show actor Ashton Kutcher taking on the role of producer and host. A later version of Punk’d ran on BET in 2015 featuring social media comedians King Bach and DeStorm Power.

Bun B Blasts “Tiger King” Joe Exotic Over N-Word Video

(AllHipHop News) The Internet can turn on someone really quickly. A few days ago, Joseph “Joe Exotic” Maldonado-Passage was garnering some support online after Netflix premiered its Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness docuseries.

Even though Joe Exotic was convicted in federal court of plotting to hire a hitman to murder his archenemy as well as killing five tigers, the former private zookeeper’s eccentric personality and lack of genuine friends made him a sympathetic figure to numerous viewers. A new viral video has now made the big cat breeder public enemy number one for some people.

“I can’t say the n-word, but you can get on YouTube and watch any Black man’s rap video and they’re calling each other the n-word. What the hell? Is this discrimination? I’m White. I can’t say the n-word and they can,” said Maldonado-Passage in a clip that began circulating on social media.

Earlier this week, Texas rapper Bun B made it clear he is not a fan of Joe Exotic. The UGK founding member posted footage of the Oklahoman’s n-word rant on his Instagram account. Bun wrote in the IG caption, “No Joe. You’re pathetic. Later for this clown.”

Megan Thee Stallion Responds To Rumors She Subliminally Dissed Cardi B

(AllHipHop News) Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion are two of the top female rappers in the game right now, but they have yet to collaborate on a song together. Add in the fact that Megan worked with Cardi’s rival, Nicki Minaj, on the “Hot Girl Summer” single and many biased stans believe the two women are engaged in a rap cold war.

A lot of fuel was thrown on the rumors of an undercover feud between Meg and Cardi when a Twitter account posted alleged screenshots of the YouTube comment section from The Stallion’s 2Pac-inspired “B.I.T.C.H.” audio. It appeared as if Megan gave a thumbs up to some commenters’ negative remarks about Cardi.

Megan has now come out to throw water on the fire. She tweeted on Wednesday, “I did not like no damn stupid ass comment like this. I don’t even upload my own sh*t to my YouTube my label does. I DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ANYBODY. I don’t like drama I do not bring other females down stop trying to start fake beef.”

This is not the first time the Houston Hottie publicly stated that she does not have an issue with the “I Like It” hitmaker. Back in 2019, Megan expressed to E! News about the bad blood between Cardi and Nicki, “They’re two different people, two different rappers. It’s not even the same. I feel like we need to stop trying to compare them. I love both of them, so I would definitely like to collab with Cardi too.”

For her part, Cardi B has also had positive things to say about Megan. The native New Yorker told T.I. on a 2019 episode of his ExpediTIously podcast, “Look at Megan Thee Stallion. She got that voice that sticks. Not only do she rap good – a lot of girls rap good – but she got that voice and she got that confidence that sticks.”

50 Cent & Jim Jones Trade Jabs On Social Media Over 6ix9ine & Nine Trey Bloods

(AllHipHop News) Daniel “Tekashi 6ix9ine” Hernandez is not even officially out of federal prison yet, but the contentious rapper is already involved in some drama online. This time Tekashi is not directly at fault for the social media beefing.

50 Cent and Jim Jones found themselves addressing each other on Instagram. The back-and-forth apparently began when 50 threw a shot at Jim Jones by suggesting the Dipset member was a government informant that was given clemency by the feds.

6ix9ine testified at the federal trial of Anthony “Harv” Ellison and Aljermiah “Nuke” Mack that Jones was a member of the Nine Trey Gangsters. That is the New York City-based Blood sect convicted of multiple felonious charges. NTG affiliates were also accused of turning on Tekashi by kidnapping and robbing him.

Additionally, there was a recording released of Jim Jones telling now-incarcerated Nine Trey Bloods “godfather” Jamel “Mel Murda” Jones, “They going to have to violate [Tekashi 6ix9ine] because shorty is on some bullsh*t.”

50 Cent wrote on Instagram:

Now individual 1 [Jim Jones] ya gonna have to tell everybody how you were on tape in court on the phone coaching Mel, to super duper violate shorty but the Feds never picked you up and the charges were Rico & conspiracy Confidential informant.

Jones then posted on his IG page:

Melly said he doin super fine. You have to watch out for these so call real ones thts routing for rats to come home and And wanna see real nighas go to jail
Any nigha th needs to try n tarnish another mans name for personal gain has to b a hoe why else would he have my d*ck so far down his throat lol pause

50 returned to Instagram in order to respond to Jones and possibly another rapper as well. Maino liked Jimmy’s post about Mel Murda, and Fiddy seemed to point out the “Hi Hater” performer’s apparent decision to support his current adversary.

In a new post, 50 added:

i learn something new everyday, see i looked out for this guy when he needed help. I made a call to get him his deal but people forget. being a good judge of character is detrimental to success and people change so you have to watch them. if you stay on point you will peep the change.

Alicia Keys Blasts Sleazy Photographer Over Uncomfortable Photoshoot

(AllHipHop News) Alicia Keys vowed never to be robbed of her “power” again after a “sleazy” photographer made her flash some skin for a magazine cover shoot when she was just 19.

The “Girl on Fire” hitmaker recalls the alarming incident in her new memoir, “More Myself: A Journey,” revealing the snapper, who she doesn’t name, convinced her managers he needed to conduct the photo session alone – and then proceeded to coerce the singer into showing more than she was comfortable with.

“Open up your shirt a little,” she recalls being told. “Pull the top of your jeans down a bit in the front.”

“My spirit is screaming that something is wrong, that this feels sleazy. But my protests, lodged in the back of my throat, can’t make their way out,” Keys writes. “I swallow my misgivings, tuck my thumb between the denim and my skin, and obey.”

The then-teenage musician, who was gearing up to release her Grammy-winning debut album “Songs in A Minor,” ended up breaking down in tears once she returned home from the shoot.

“This isn’t about me showing some skin, which I’ll do on my own terms, for my own purposes, in the coming years,” she explains. “It’s about feeling manipulated. It’s about being objectified.”

Keys felt sick all over again when the magazine hit newsstands months later, making her feel “embarrassed” and “ashamed” at failing to stand up for herself, reports the New York Post’s Page Six.

Admitting her manager at the time was also appalled by the sexy snaps, she continues, “I now understand why the photographer wanted my team out of that room. A nineteen-year-old girl is more pliable than a set of her grown-a** managers.”

Keys subsequently learned a valuable lesson from the controversy: “I swear that I’ll never again let someone rob me of my power,” she remembers promising herself.

“It’s a promise I still work to keep,” she adds.

“More Myself: A Journey” was released on Tuesday.

T.I.’s Daughter Deyjah Opens Up About Depression

(AllHipHop News) T.I.’s 18-year-old daughter Deyjah Harris has opened up on her mental health in a new YouTube video.

In the clip, the teenager, who the rapper shares with his ex Ms. Niko, says dealing with mental illness “hasn’t gotten easier for me,” but insisted she views her battle “way more different” now.

“Transparently speaking, depression and anxiety is something that I’ve been dealing with since about the age of 11,” she explained. “My self-esteem started to become an issue for me in the sixth grade due to bullying. I started to struggle with understanding what it was that I was feeling and I definitely knew that I wasn’t able to express what it was that I was going through.”

Deyjah also revealed she turned to “self-inflicted coping mechanisms that weren’t too healthy or beneficial to me or my growth,” and admitted that she had suicidal thoughts.

“There have been multiple times where I couldn’t really envision the evolution of myself due to the fact that I just felt really unmotivated and I also repeatedly had thoughts of me not being here anymore,” Deyjah said.

She added: “The way that I viewed depression and anxiety at 11 is way more different than I experience it now at 18. In other words, it hasn’t gotten easier for me.

“However, please don’t let this give you the idea that you won’t get better. It’s really just about healing you and your inner child to prevent any open wounds from carrying into adulthood.”

The comments come after Deyjah made headlines last year after the Jefe star confessed to having his daughter’s hymen checked to ensure she is still a virgin, leading to his daughter liking several defamatory comments about him online. He has since apologized for the controversial admission.

Coronavirus Ruins Taraji P Henson’s Wedding

(AllHipHop News) Taraji P. Henson has been forced to delay her wedding to Kelvin Hayden once again, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The 49-year-old actress had initially set an April date for her nuptials, but pushed it back to June for fear of bad weather.

However, now that the Covid-19 virus is leading to the cancellation of weddings all around the world – due to the rules in many countries that there be a maximum of five guests at any ceremony – Taraji will have to wait a little longer before she walks down the aisle.

“It’s probably going to be more like July,” she explained to U.S. TV show Extra via video chat app Zoom. “We have to see what this will be like at the other end.”

The “Empire” star added that both she and Kelvin have elderly relatives to take into consideration when thinking about when to reschedule their wedding for.

“Our grandparents, my grandmother is about to turn 96, his is 86, how do we get them to the wedding now? Now, we are concerned, just trying to figure out the safest and best way,” she said.

In the meantime, Taraji, who will next be seen in Netflix movie “Coffee & Kareem,” is doing her best to keep herself busy during the lockdown period, and has even lost 5 lbs since she started social distancing.

She’s also picked up a new hobby, as she revealed: “I have aligned all of my chakras more than once, meditating a lot. I find myself praying, reflecting a lot, doing a lot of things I have said I wanted to do around the house that I don’t have time to do… Keeping busy, I learned how to do gel nails. I am a nail tech now.”

John Legend Can’t Identify With His Children’s Privileged Upbringing

(AllHipHop News) John Legend finds it difficult to identify with his kids’ privileged upbringing in Hollywood, as it’s very different to his humble Ohio roots.

magazine, where he confessed they’re, “growing up in a very rarefied space, one that I don’t have an experience (of) dealing with as a child.”The “All of Me” crooner opened up on his family life with wife Chrissy Teigen, 34, and their two children – Luna, three, and Miles, 22 months – in an interview with Rollacoaster magazine, where he confessed they’re, “growing up in a very rarefied space, one that I don’t have an experience (of) dealing with as a child.”

While Luna and Miles grow up in a Hollywood Hills mansion, John’s upbringing as the son of a factory worker and a seamstress was distinctly different, and he said he’s, “always trying to figure out a way to make sure they’re not a##holes,” due to their privilege.

“I’ve toured through the different phases of my life, (from) being a bachelor in my mid-twenties, to being a 40-year-old husband with two young kids,” John explained. “I love bringing the family along and I’m excited to have them with me on the tour bus. It’s fun to see the world through their eyes.”

However, despite being the first black man to reach EGOT status in 2018, after scooping two Emmys, 11 Grammys, one Oscar and one Tony award, John insisted his success hasn’t gone to his head.

“I don’t really think there’s that big of a difference between who I am most days and who I am at home,” he reflected. “It doesn’t feel like I’m transforming into a new person. It still (feels) very much like an extension of who I am as a person.”

EXCLUSIVE: Tekashi 6ix9ine Wins Early Release

(AllHipHop News) Brooklyn rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine is coming home from prison four months earlier than expected.

Today (April 1st), the Feds revealed they will no longer fight the rap star’s release from prison due an outbreak of the coronavirus.

“In light of the analysis under Section 3553(a) detailed during the defendant’s sentencing and the Court’s March 25 Order, in the event the Court finds “extraordinary and compelling reasons” presented by the defendant’s medical condition, placing him at high risk during the COVID-19 outbreak, the Government does not oppose the defendant’s motion for compassionate release,” lead prosecutor Geoffrey Berman wrote to Judge Paul Engelmayer.

This clears the way for Judge Engelmayer to free the rapper from the Queens Detention Facility, due to the spread of the coronavirus inside of the prison.

Earlier today, AllHipHop.com broke the news that Judge Engelmayer would free the rap star if the Feds did not object.

Tekashi 6ix9ine, born Daniel Hernandez, was finishing up his two-year prison sentence for racketeering with the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods.

The rapper’s cooperation with the Feds earned him a very light sentence in comparison to his former associates, who were rounded up with the rapper in November of 2018.

A dozen members of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods were hit with prison terms ranging from two to 20 years, for drug dealing, slashings, kidnapping and several brazen shootings.

Tekashi 6ix9ine, who was facing over 40 years in prison, was hit with a two-year sentence, with time served, paving the way for his release on July 31st, 2020.

But thanks to today’s ruling, Tekashi 6ix9ine will be allowed to finish the rest of his prison sentence under house arrest.

H.E.R. Discusses Being Compared To Prince

(AllHipHop News) There will never be another Prince Rogers Nelson. The late entertainment legend created an incomparable catalog of classic Funk, R&B, Soul, Rock, and Pop tunes.

Prince is undeniably a one-of-a-kind talent. However, there are contemporary acts that live on the branches of the 7-time Grammy winner’s musical family tree. For example, Gabriella “H.E.R.” Wilson is often mentioned as one of The Purple One’s artistic offspring. She recently spoke about the Prince comparisons with Zane Lowe on Apple Music.

“People say that a lot, sometimes it’s like, ‘Oh, those are some big shoes to fill.’ But I’m honestly honored,” H.E.R. told Lowe. “I can’t believe when people say that because I love Prince so much. And even though I don’t necessarily try to emulate him in my music, I’ve found inspiration in what he does as a performer and in his production.”

The “Focus” vocalist added, “I did the Prince tribute that is coming out soon on the anniversary of his death. I did the Prince tribute at the time, and they said, ‘Oh, Prince would have loved you.’ Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, they’re always saying [that] to me. That’s when it feels real. Like the people that were actually closest to him that know him, even Sheila E. Meeting his entire crew and just knowing that they even say the same thing, that even means more, that means so much.”

Drake, J Cole And The Weeknd Granted Dying 11-Year-Old’s Wish

Elijah’s mother added: “I just want to say a huge Thank you to @realcoleworld @theweeknd @champagnepapi & @joeylogano for showing my baby some love these last difficult days of his life. I truly appreciate you all.”

Killer Mike Recalls Making Money Off Being Called Out In Clinton Campaign Emails

(AllHipHop News) This week, Tip “T.I.” Harris returned with a new edition of his ExpediTIously podcast. The self-proclaimed King Of The South invited his long-time friend, Killer Mike, on the show for a conversation about their hometown of Atlanta, music, and a lot more.

Near the end of the episode, the discussion turned to Killer Mike recalling how his name became part of the Hillary Clinton/WikiLeaks scandal during the 2016 U.S. presidential race. The backer of ’16 Democratic candidate Senator Bernie Sanders explained how an email became a lucrative merchandising opportunity.

“[The Clinton campaign] said, ‘Killer Mike didn’t get the message.’ Then I printed it up on a t-shirt and made a bunch of money off of it,” Mike explained to Tip. “There was a time I said something in the campaign that her campaign didn’t appreciate. They used all their press agents against me to try to defile me.”

The Run The Jewels member added, “Jane Elliott, who is a woman – she made a statement that she wouldn’t vote for Hillary Clinton simply based on the fact she was a woman. The way she said it was just a way only a woman should say. But I repeated it at a speech and it caused a stir and controversy that really wasn’t a big deal.”

Former Secretary of State Clinton became the Democratic nominee and eventually faced off against Republican nominee Donald Trump. Throughout the general election, Julian Assange’s WikiLeaks organization released hacked private emails from the Democratic National Committee and Clinton’s campaign chair John Podesta which caused a rift among some Clinton supporters and Sanders supporters.

“They’ll nail you to a cross in front of the public just because it makes for good campaign fodder. Well, when Julian Assange let the WikiLeaks go on her, a WikiLeaks popped up that said, ‘I guess Killer Mike didn’t get the message.’ They threw everything against me. Just like they do people… when they’re trying to essentially cut off the head of the snake,” stated Killer Mike.

The emcee born Michael Render continued, “I pressed up that shirt. I hit my lawyers, made sure it was legal to press up. We pressed it up and called it the ‘Killer Mike iDontCheckMessages’ shirt. I made a sh*t-ton of money. So I definitely want to thank the DNC and the campaign.”
