Lil Nas X Jokes On April Fools’ Day About Never Being Gay

(AllHipHop News) Today is April 1, also known as April Fools’ Day. While some Americans have called for the annual pranksters holiday to be canceled this year because of the coronavirus pandemic, others are still continuing with the wisecracks.

For example, internet troll-turned-record-breaking musician Lil Nas X had some fun with his Twitter followers. The Atlanta artist announced he was gay in 2019, but on April 1, 2020, LNX joked that he was actually heterosexual all along.

“I was never gay. I said it to build up fuel for April Fools Day. Ha got u guys… where the hoes at,” tweeted Lil Nas. He later returned to the social networking platform to post, “Ok I’m gay again.”

In January, 42-year-old rapper Pastor Troy publicly took issue with 20-year-old Lil Nas X’s hot pink outfit he wore to the Grammy Awards. Troy wrote on Instagram, “Welp, Guess I won’t be winning a GRAMMY… If this what I gotta wear. They love to push this sh*t on Our Kids!!”

LNX replied to Pastor Troy’s IG rant by simply tweeting, “Damn I look good in that pic on god.” The “No Mo Play in G.A.” performer did not back down and actually doubled down on his perceived homophobic comments about the LGBT community.

During an interview, Troy stated, “I’m just glad I been teaching my son long enough to see that they be trying to push this gay agenda on people to make everything acceptable. Some things just ain’t right.”

Cardi B Throws “Tiger King” Joe Exotic To Lions Over N-Word Video

(AllHipHop News) What a difference a day makes. Cardi B went from being one of the most vocal celebrity supporters of Joseph “Joe Exotic” Maldonado-Passage to quickly turning on the self-described Tiger King.

Over the weekend, Cardi declared being a stan of the incarcerated ex-zookeeper featured in Netflix’s Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness docuseries.

However, a viral video of Joe Exotic complaining about not being able to say the n-word made the “Bodak Yellow” rapper flip the script.

https://twitter.com/InThierry/status/1244835538135384064

“I can’t say the n-word, but you can get on YouTube and watch any Black man’s rap video and they’re calling each other the n-word. What the hell? Is this discrimination? I’m White. I can’t say the n-word and they can,” stated Joe Exotic. in the video.

After seeing the clip, Cardi tweeted, “Ooooo heeeeiiiiillllllllll naaawwww …….Feed him to the lions immediately .”

One Twitter user then called for Joe to be freed from federal prison now.

The famous musical daughter of a Dominican father and Trinidadian mother replied, “Heeiiiillllllll naaaaawww not nomooooo.”

Tory Lanez Declares French Montana The Winner Of Their Instagram Live Hits Battle

(AllHipHop News) As a large part of America continues to self-quarantine in their homes as a way to avoid contracting COVID-19 coronavirus, many celebrities have found part-time entertainment gigs on Instagram Live. However, very few people have made the transition as successfully as Tory Lanez.

The Canadian rapper/singer began hosting his own “Quarantine Radio” shows on IG with guests including DMX, Chris Brown, Bryson Tiller, Timbaland, Drake, and many more. Last night, Tory hopped on IG Live alongside French Montana to take part in a battle of the hits.

The two Hip Hop stars went back and forth with a cuts from their respective discographies. French seemed to deliver the knockout blow when he pulled out his 7-time Platinum smash “Unforgettable” featuring Swae Lee.

While playing the record, the NYC representative told his opponent, “Good night, my brother. I want to thank you for tonight’s services.” French later added, “Tory, I’m gonna stop you, bro. It’s over.”

Lanez eventually conceded that he took the “L” in the contest. He wrote on his own Instagram page, “WINNER!!!!!!!! I give my vote to @frenchmontana… I ain’t gone lie I knew my OG was gone win off time in the game alone… was mad fun !!! QUARANTINE RADIO COMES BACK THURSDAY [LET’S] GO!!!!!!!!”

Ty Dolla Sign Previews Unreleased Song With Nipsey Hussle & Cardi B

(AllHipHop News) Yesterday (March 31), the music world celebrated the life of Ermias “Nipsey Hussle” Asghedom. One year ago on that date, the Los Angeles rapper was tragically murdered outside his Marathon Clothing store.

Nipsey’s close friend and frequent collaborator YG used his social media to honor the late entrepreneur/activist. At one point, YG got on Instagram Live with R&B singer Ty Dolla $ign and viewers got a special surprise.

Ty played an unreleased track featuring Nipsey Hussle and Cardi B during the IG Live session. It is not clear when the song was recorded, but last year, the Bronx-bred rapstress mentioned having a collaboration with Hussle that was supposedly created two years prior.

Nipsey’s Victory Lap and Cardi’s Invasion of Privacy were both nominated for Best Rap Album at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards. After IOP won the golden gramophone that year, Nip congratulated his Atlantic Records labelmate by posting on Instagram, “WHEN ITS YO TIME…ITS YO TIME! Congrats to @iamcardib on Her Grammy for Best Rap Album & Also being Tha 1st female to Do it!”

One day after winning the Grammy, Cardi thanked Nipsey for the support on her own Instagram page. She also tweeted in August of that year, “When I won Nipsey said on a comment to me WHEN [IT’S] YOUR TIME [IT’S] YOUR TIME! Now when I speak to upcoming [artists] or people who ask me for advice I tell them the same thing! WHEN [IT’S] YOUR TIME [IT’S] YOUR TIME and when it comes don’t let nobody take that special moment away from you!”

Tory Lanez Vows To Start Community Centers Around The World

(AllHipHop News)) While singer/ rapper Tory Lanez is getting ready to release yet another musical offering in April called, New Toronto 3, he is also ready to birth another project:

Might we say this will be an even more important and ambitious project than anything he has ever created.

The Chixtape emcee took to his social media to muse out loud about social responsibility and his visionary mission to give back.

He took to Twitter to say:

“Mark my words …. I’m going to make a foundation and a chain of places like “Boys and Girls club” all around the world . For kids in less fortunate situations, that loss family members to the system or to the grave ..and kids that are quote on quote “going down the wrong path.”

Raised in a religious family, Tory Lanez understood the basic principles of charity and sharing.

As one of six children, he almost had no choice. According to an interview with Hard Knock TV, Tory revealed that growing up so repressed and the loss of his mother at the age of 11 years old, added to a rebellious frustration that only the “freedom” of writing rhymes could offer.

Now he is on a mission to fulfill his desire to create a sanctuary for other young people who are in the same boat as he was.

The same way we are anticipating new music…we are awaiting this move into philanthropy. That’s when Tory Lanez will really get to wear the crown that so many people wanna give him.

EXCLUSIVE: Tekashi 6ix9ine Fears The Worst As Coronavirus Spreads In Prison

(AllHipHop News) Rap star Tekashi 6ix9ine is not giving up his fight to get out of prison to avoid catching the coronavirus.

The rapper’s lawyer Lance Lazzaro just filed more documents today (March 31st), saying it is “imperative” the rapper be released from prison as soon as possible.

Tekashi 6ix9ine, who suffers from serious asthma, claims he is at risk of dying inside of a federal prison, where he is serving out a 2-year sentence for racketeering.

Tekashi 6ix9ine, who supposed to be released on July 31st, is trying to get out early due to the pandemic and the rapid spread of the coronavirus throughout New York’s prison system.

“Mr. Hernandez’s current facility has five inmates quarantined, with three inmates awaiting test results,” Lance Lazzaro wrote to Judge Paul Englemayer.

Tekashi 6ix9ine is in a very weird position and is stuck in prison on a technicality.

Because Tekashi 6ix9ine acted as a cooperating witness during a week-long trial against the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods in September of 2019, he is not considered an inmate with the Bureau Of Prisons.

On March 25th, Judge Englemayer denied Tekashi 6ix9ine’s request to be released from prison, because he had not sought an administrative review of his request with BOP administrators.

But Judge Englemayer wrote that he would have sentenced the rapper to home confinement, had he been able to foresee the coronavirus pandemic sweeping the globe.

“The Court would have directed that these four months be served instead in home confinement. The Court accordingly denies Mr. Hernandez’s motion for relief,” Judge Englemayer wrote.

The following day (March 26th), Tekashi 6ix9ine’s lawyer fired off a request to the BOP for “compassionate release,” however the BOP denied the desperate rapper’s attempt to get out of the Queens Detention Facility, where he is being housed according to court documents.

So, his lawyer Lance Lazzaro is now asking Judge Paul Englemayer to step in due to the “extraordinary and compelling circumstances,” and release the rap star from prison immediately.

So far, New York City corrections and the courts have released hundreds of inmates, who were serving short prison sentences for non-violent crimes.

To make matters more complicated, Kintea “Kooda B,” McKenzie, who was convicted for taking a shot at Chief Keef in Times Square, was recently sprung from prison due to the coronavirus.

Unfortunately, Tekashi 6ix9ine, born Daniel Hernandez, has yet to become one of the inmates.to be released – yet.

“In order to protect Mr. Hernandez’s health and possible risk to his life, given his serious medical condition and the grave status of COVID-19 in our area, please find extraordinary and compelling circumstances and grant Mr. Hernandez compassionate release and modify his sentence to arrange for his immediate release from prison,” Lance Lazzaro pleaded.

Rihanna, JAY-Z Tap Into Personal Wallets For Victims Of The COVID-19

(AllHipHop News) Over 15 years ago, Rihanna sent a song out to the world called “S.O.S.”

The song was about saving her from falling in love with a guy. It was a bat signal to the Hip-Hop world to scoop this young jawn from Barbados and change her life.

We did that. Within a few short years, she was able to change the lives of not just her family, but her friends, bring honor to her beloved island and above all build an empire for herself.

We saved her.

Now, with several multi-platinum and award-winning albums, a

spectrum-tiered fashion conglomeration, books, lucrative beauty lines, investment properties, and so many other ventures, she is in a place to answer the S.O.S. of so many who are suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through her Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF), Hip-Hop’s Bad Girl has donated $5 million to the coronavirus response in the U.S., Caribbean, and Africa.

She also has donated “an undisclosed supply of personal protective equipment” to the state of New York, prompting Governor Andrew Cuomo to respond via tweet:

“I want to thank @rihanna and the Rihanna Foundation for donating Personal Protective Equipment to New York State. We’re so appreciative of your help and that of so many others who have stepped up.”

Rihanna has also collaborated with Jay-Z’s Shawn Carter Foundation (SCF) for a combined donated $2 million to COVID-19 relief.

This effort is to support New Yorkers and Los Angelenos who are elderly, undocumented, incarcerated, homeless and children of medical professionals risking their lives as front line responders and affected by the challenges presented by this deadly disease.

Part of the money in this allotment will go to advocating for free COVID-19 testing, and the support of organizations such as ACLU, New York Immigration Coalition, Mayor’s Fund for L.A. and Fund for Public Schools.

The need is great and even as this $2 million seems like a huge donation, it will be eaten up swiftly and more donations and charitable gifts will be needed.

Let’s see what other big ballers in the Hip-Hop world, who have flossed on large scales at massive billionaire brunches, will answer the distress call of their fans.

There is an S.O.S. and thank goodness Rihanna (with her over $6M) and JAY-Z (with his over $1M) have responded.

Rihanna Says UK Is Just As Racist As America

(AllHipHop News) Rihanna’s experience of racism hasn’t changed since she’s moved to the U.K., with the singer insisting it’s “the same” in England as it is in America.

The 32-year-old singer has been living in London for the past three years, and told Vogue magazine that she’s been very aware of the amount of racial discrimination that goes on in the capital, compared to her former adopted home country of the United States.

“I think police brutality is probably extremely severe in America, but racism is alive everywhere. Everywhere,” she told British author Afua Hirsch for the publication. “It’s the same (in the U.K.). It’s either blatant, which is becoming more and more of a norm, or it’s underlying, where people don’t even know they’re being obvious about it. You know, it’s just a subconscious layer that’s embedded from their entire core.”

And while some people might wonder how Rihanna can go about her daily life in London without being noticed, the Work singer insisted that the locals of the St.John’s Wood area, where she reportedly lives in the capital, are “too bougie” (bourgeois) to worry about her.

“I like it because they’re too bougie to give a s**t about me,” she smiled. “When I walk into those places, I am invisible. And nothing makes me feel better than being invisible.”

Rihanna, who made history by being the first person to wear a durag (headtie) on the cover of the fashion bible, added that when it comes to hunting down Jamaican food, Brixton in south London is her first port of call.

Cardi B Backtracks On Joe Exotic Support Just Before Explosive “N##ger” Video Leaks

(AllHipHop News) Cardi B wasn’t seriously planning to start a campaign to free jailed “Tiger King” star Joe Exotic.

Released earlier this month on Netflix, “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness” follows the exploits of Joe, a prolific tiger breeder, who ran a popular illegal zoo in Oklahoma.

And while fans have taken to social media to rave over the show, the rapper took to Twitter to declare she felt compelled to take action against authorities who sentenced the tiger lover to time in jail for plotting to kill an animal rights activist and other wildlife violations.

“Bout to star a gofundme account for Joe .He shall be free (sic),” she shared among a string of posts.

However, as Cardi’s comments gained momentum online, she returned to the site to set the record straight, insisting, “Omg… I was just playing.”

“I do love him tho and he deff needed better representation .oooooooooooooooooo here Kitty Kitty,” she finished.

Cardi’s clarification of her stance comes just as TMZ published a story revealing the “Tiger King” using the N-word during outtakes of his failed reality show.

DJ Jazzy Jeff Fears Coronavirus After Bought With Pneumonia In His Lungs

(AllHipHop News) DJ Jazzy Jeff is worried he has coronavirus, as he continues recovering after battling pneumonia in both lungs.

The 55-year-old producer, musician and actor revealed his fears in a post on his Instagram Stories, writing: “Pls say a prayer for all the sick… it’s a lot more than you know!!

“I’m recovering from pneumonia in both my lungs… I lost my sense of smell and taste which is a main sign of the virus. I would NOT be here if not for my guardian angel of a wife!” Jeff has been married to Lynette Jackson since 2010.

Concluding, he wrote: “Please take this serious… It does not care who you are… what you do or what your plans are. Stay safe.”

He didn’t add whether or not he’d been tested for the Covid-19 virus.

Jeff’s post came after a tweet on March 7th, in which he complained about feeling ill and hinted that he was receiving treatment in hospital as he wrote: “I’ll be happy when I’m home and I can cough freely… LOL (laugh out loud).”

Jeff first rose to fame alongside Will Smith as DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince, later appearing on U.S. TV show “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”

He has since gone on to become one of the world’s most famous DJs.

If Jeff does have coronavirus, he follows in the footsteps of stars including Scarface, Slim Thug, and Idris Elba.

Rihanna Vows To Have At Least Three Kids In In The Next Ten Years

(AllHipHop News) Rihanna wants to become a mom-of-three before the end of the decade.

The “Umbrella” singer is not fixed on being in a committed relationship, but she wants ”three or four” kids by 2030.

Speaking candidly to British Vogue, the star insists she’s more than capable of being a single mom.

“I feel like society makes me want to feel like, ‘Oh you got it wrong…’,” she explains. “They diminish you as a mother, (if) there’s not a dad in your kids’ lives. But the only thing that matters is happiness, that’s the only healthy relationship between a parent and a child. That’s the only thing that can raise a child truly, is love.”

Meanwhile, Rihanna tells the fashion glossy she’s working “very aggressively” on new music, but has no idea when she’ll be dropping a new studio album, adding, “I don’t want all my albums to feel like themes. There are no rules, there’s no format, there’s nothing. There’s just good music and if I feel it, I’m putting it out.”

D-Nice, Hip-Hop & The Great Flood

By Donald Lyons

(AllHipHop Opinion) We are at a societal crossroads in America that has many of us in a state of distress. There is a massive wave of insecurity washing over our country due to a current pandemic that has upended social and socioeconomic norms usually dictated by our free-market economy. Workers are being ordered to work from home. Many more are being furloughed or outright laid off. Children are being kept home from school. Those who are able, are doing distance learning but, we know that not all schools or school families are either capable or equipped to carry out these much-needed functions. These very unfortunate circumstances, however, are the subject of another missive. Given today’s challenges due to the Coronavirus pandemic, cursorily, a more fitting title might be, “Hip-Hop vs. the Angel of Death”, but then again when hasn’t it been, “the Kulture of Hip-Hop vs (Name your peril here)”?

Why would I use a title that seemingly plays upon the foreshadowed premise of doom? I’d answer that question by saying that I plan to justify the title within the confines of this writing. Please bear with me.

The legacy and power of Hip-Hop have always been to create something from nothing. HipHop is alchemic and transformative by nature. I am a full-on invested believer in the mantra, “You are not just doing Hip-Hop, you are HipHop”. As a “HipHoppa” (a nod to KRS-One), throughout the course of my writings, you can easily juxtapose any pronoun with, “HipHop”. When I say, “we “, during the course of this writing please keep that in mind.

During modern times we have always seemed to exist and flourish while flitting about on the brink of destruction, navigating some crisis in perpetuity and suddenly, extemporaneously, we shift the paradigm. We, “flip the script” and emerge brighter and much noticeably changed. We, as a Kulture, continue to challenge whether or not Hip-Hop emerges stronger as we evolve, but undoubtedly we survive. We have and we will.

We certainly are here as a testament to the fortitude of the Kulture even if we persist in questioning the art of the Kulture. Hip-Hop’s dynamic has always been to make beautiful the unsightly and to make palatable the refuse. To otherwise shape and breathe life into what has or would be dying. Hip-Hop has demonstrated the power to rework, set askew, to reorient and take what has been rendered obsolete and re-present to the world a subject/object with a new life realized.

For what is going on a half a century Hip-Hop has been that “God particle” for the Kulture and for the world at large. Longer still if you regard Hip-Hop like the great EMCEE KRS-ONE does and you rightfully connect the philosophy and practice of Hip-Hop firmly to the historical traditions and documented survival of the children of the African diaspora. We might even make a viable argument that Hip-Hop works just that well for all of humankind that embraces the Kulture.

Who would have thought that Hip-Hop would once again show the world how to feel again…to slow down and smell the flowers…to simply reach out and touch one another in the most respectful and intimate manner right out in public?

In the midst of this current pandemic #ClubQuarantine #DNiceHomeSchool initiatives have struck me as profound in its simplicity and effectiveness. Necessary due to the difficulty of our current social condition, and indisputably the most Hip-Hop and selfless acts that I have witnessed in the Kulture in a very long time. The most notable of these initiatives in my honest opinion is the aforementioned hashtagged events due the consecutive marathon DJ sessions spearheaded by Gen X’s own DJ (and EMCEE) D-Nice. The Instagram phenomena has found its way into the homes (and mentions) of countless people across a multitude of cultures and demographics across America. I would not be surprised if this has extended to include a prodigious audience outside of our US borders.

I guess the reason I named this piece, “HipHop & The Great Flood”, is because D-Nice along with some of our more stalwart representatives of HipHop Kulture have shown us again the power we wield. More importantly, how much more powerful we are in realizing we are bound together as one humankind. By shepherding us into a virtual Ark much like the Noah of the Bible we, through the power of music, have ridden the ebbs and flows of these uncertain times buoyed by the power of togetherness, reminded of the power of connectedness and reassured just how much we all have in common in joy and reminiscence as well as in crisis.

While our safety and well-being during this worldwide crisis have forced us apart physically, we are discovering ways back to each other through the power of music, the power of laughter and most importantly the power of love. We have shaken off the shadows of doubt and fear by dancing in our living rooms, texting each other in real-time about, “club behavior”, how the music used to and still makes us feel. Inside our forced cocoons we are remembering old school dances, basement parties, being with friends, turning 21, first loves, heartbreak, births, deaths and everything in between. In short, we were carried through all of the things that made our lives worthwhile in these musical interludes. Sometimes remembering is what brings into focus what’s important and all there is yet to live for.

For some that reminder was essential; for many more, it’s likely the release they needed to cope for what lies ahead. No doubt we all needed the mental reset. I would be remiss if I didn’t also mention the messages in the music being played. I’m drawn to speak particularly of the sessions hosted by Questlove. His “Quest Lovers Rock” sessions and his careful curation have been angled toward the aficionados of slower and mellower classic grooves and the sultrier side of the growing wave of DJ sets popping up all over the internet. More specifically, I want to mention that entrenched in his setlists, as is the case with D-Nice’s sets, are fiercely clear themes of resistance by the encouragement to acknowledge and embrace one another digitally or otherwise.

Humankind must find a way to reconnect in the most meaningful of ways. Thankfully, every so often, we are blessed with a spark of HipHop’s “God particle”. In this case, we have been fortunate to make a leap that more often than not leaves us in awe in its simplicity and implementation. These past few days I’ve watched HipHop fall in love with each other again. I’m hoping we continue to find ourselves so we can mobilize to once again shift the world community sensibly and seismically.

There’s no doubt that we have more difficult times ahead but these sessions should serve to remind us: We are not alone nor should we endure alone. Now that we’ve shared our memories, laughter, fears, and in the process once again found our joy there’s an equally important message to be had. We cannot take our eyes off the work that lies ahead when this is all over. These common experiences should serve to remind us of our bond as living and breathing inhabitants of this time and space, and that a greater responsibility to care for one another should take precedence over all else. Now is a time to carry this momentum into shaping a brighter future for each other.

Please HipHop, support HipHop. Protect the Future.

Peace, Unity, Love and Having Fun… Let’s get back to that.

Offset Demands Trolls Cut The “Negative Energy” With Cheating Claims

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Offsett has called for an end to the “negative energy” directed at his family after shutting down rumors suggesting he’s been cheating on his superstar wife Cardi B.

The Migos star was called out on Saturday after he was caught quickly trying to hide his phone from Cardi when she walked in on his livestreamed video game session at their Georgia home.

In the footage, he unsuccessfully attempts to slide his cell into his pocket when he hears the “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker enter the room, before resorting to hiding the device by his side, and only retrieving it after Cardi leaves.

The shady behavior led some social media users to question his actions and wonder whether Offset was being unfaithful again, more than two years after a cheating and sex tape scandal almost cost him his relationship with Cardi, the mother of his baby daughter Kulture, born in July, 2018.

However, the 28-year-old, who is self-isolating with his family during the global coronavirus pandemic, has since fired back at the rumors in an Instagram Live post, insisting gossips are trying to ruin his happy home life.

“I know y’all making something out of nothing out of that stream when I was playing the game and my girl came in the room and I grabbed the phone, whatever the hell y’all say…,” he began.

Referring to the current health crisis, he continued: “We got so much negativity energy out here in the air, sickness. Don’t bring none of that negativity to my family. We chilling, man. We ain’t in y’all way. Everything positive. We got investments and big moves coming. Y’all just making something out of nothing. That ain’t ’bout nothing. I don’t be doing no negative nothing.”

Cardi has yet to comment on the incident. The couple secretly wed in September, 2017.

Tank Talks Bringing Back The Basics Of R&B With ‘While You Wait’ EP

(AllHipHop News) Recently, Rhythm & Blues artists have faced claims that the genre is no longer as prominent as it was in the past. However, there are still modern singers that are upholding the sound cultivated by greats like Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Sam Cooke, and Patti LaBelle.

Tank is one of those contemporary R&B vocalists that continues to tap into the elements of classic Soul while updating it for his Gen X and Millennial fans. On March 27, the five-time Grammy-nominated performer dropped off a new acoustic collection of tunes titled While You Wait.

“When I decided to do this EP, I wanted to give my fans something different and special, given the times we’re in. Just my piano and me. I wanted to bring this back to the basics of R&B,” says Tank.

He continues, “‘Perfect’ honors all things that make a grown man happy with his woman. Even with their perceived flaws…You’re perfect for me.”

The lead single “Perfect” is one of the six tracks included on While You Wait. In addition to the new self-produced project, Tank is also engaging his social media followers with his “Tank Tales” and “R&B Money LIVE.”
