Oakland Legend Richie Rich Talks New Independence In The LaRussell Era

Oakland legend Richie Rich recently sat down with Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur at the iconic WonWorld Studios. In great spirits and ready to share, Richie opened up about his journey in life and rap, touching on everything from his 90s heyday to his long hiatus after seeing the less glamorous side of the music industry.

Known for his raw authenticity and ability to drop game through his music, Richie Rich didn’t hold back in this candid conversation. From his thoughts on the current state of streaming to his mission to reconnect with fans directly, this chat was a masterclass in independence and longevity. What follows is one part of an epic discussion that spanned decades of Hip-Hop history, personal triumphs, and hard-learned lessons.

Dive in as Richie Rich gives us a glimpse into his world—his past, his comeback, and his vision for the future. Watch the video where Richie Rich delves into stories around the Biggie vs E-40 beef, how Tupac impacted him and how his stint in jail changed his life.

AllHipHop: Man, much respect. AllHipHop isn’t about East Coast, West Coast, or the South—it’s all hip-hop.

Richie Rich: Exactly, it’s just music, man. I was tripping off that picture on your wall. I was lucky enough to be part of that last iconic Def Jam shoot with mostly East Coast cats. Being on Def Jam, I was always good. Me, Meth, DMX, and Redman—we all represented where we came from, but at the end of the day, a win for you is a win for me.

AllHipHop: Absolutely.

Richie Rich: That’s the mindset we need to adopt. If something good happens for someone else, it shows it’s possible for all of us.

AllHipHop: Facts. Let’s talk about your new album, Richard, a dope project. Before diving into the music, you went viral for your commentary on streaming. You’ve taken a unique approach by making it a pay album. Can you explain your perspective on streaming and how it ties to this comeback project?

Richie Rich: I come from an era when people paid $20 for a CD. If they lost it or scratched it, they’d go buy another one. Paying for music wasn’t an issue. Now, with streaming, you can pay $10 a month for unlimited music. But if you think about it, how can all those artists eat off just $10?

Russell [LaRussell] introduced me to this platform where fans can pay directly for the music, even naming their price. One fan paid $500 for a download. The platform also gives me their contact info, so I can reach out directly about shows or special offers. It cuts out the middleman, putting me back in touch with my fans.

AllHipHop: That’s amazing. It also fosters a stronger connection with your supporters.

Richie Rich: Exactly. I want people to understand: if you love an artist, support them. We spend money on everything else—Jordans, Tims, drinks at the bar—so why not on the music you love?

AllHipHop: Facts. And it’s not just about the artist; it’s about building our community.

Richie Rich: Absolutely. Like David Banner said, we need to focus on putting our people first—not in a way that harms anyone else, but to uplift and strengthen ourselves. Black people have incredible spending power, but we need to direct it toward things that benefit us.

AllHipHop: True. The Bay Area, where you’re from, has always been about independence. It’s like its own ecosystem.

Richie Rich: For sure. The Bay pioneered independent music. Too Short started selling tapes out of his trunk, and E-40 and others followed suit. We built our own system. But mainstream radio eventually shifted, and we started hearing music that didn’t reflect our culture.

Now, artists are going back to independence. The channels are opening up for us to go direct to our fans.

AllHipHop: So what made you jump back into the ring at this point in your career?

Richie Rich: I never stopped making music, but I lost my love for the business when I realized how little artists were getting paid. My first Def Jam deal had me earning 6 cents per album sale, even though CDs sold for $20. That killed my enthusiasm.

I kept making music for myself, though. Fans kept asking for new material, even after 20 years. Then LaRussell reached out and helped me figure out a new way to monetize my work. Nas also encouraged me, saying, “If you’ve got music, drop it.”

AllHipHop: That’s dope. Nas is a legend, and it’s great to see him inspiring others.

Richie Rich: Absolutely. Nas, EPMD, LL Cool J—they raised me musically. We didn’t see East Coast vs. West Coast; we just loved good music.

AllHipHop: Your style is timeless, though. Some artists have a sound tied to a specific era, but your music feels classic.

Richie Rich: Thanks. I write to the beat, so every track feels unique. And I stay true to myself. The truth doesn’t get old—it resonates across generations. I’ve been blessed to keep making music that connects with people.

AllHipHop: It’s clear you’ve found a way to keep it fresh.

Richie Rich: I have to. Whether it’s music, cars, or life in general, I believe in keeping everything fresh. That’s what keeps me going.

AllHipHop: It’s inspiring to see you back in love with the craft.

Richie Rich: Thanks. I’m doing this now because I love it—not for the money, but to push the envelope and keep good music alive.

The Atlanta native opened up about his gambling habits during a recent appearance on Lil Yachty’s “A Safe Place” podcast. According to the “BAND4BAND” hitmaker, the seven-figure loss put him off betting for life.

“$8 million,” he replied when Yachty asked about his heaviest gambling loss. “Like one day, probably like 40 hours straight, I lost like $8 million, $9 million. I made myself stop gambling.”

Lil Baby disclosed that he took extreme measures by turning to his longtime friend, Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin, to draft a letter prohibiting him from entering any casinos.

“I had Mike Rubin write a letter to every casino and ban me from the casino,” Lil Baby admitted. “I don’t gamble no more.”

Elsewhere during his interview with Lil Yachty, Lil Baby addressed his relationship with Rubin. He also reflected on his reaction to the viral photo of them at a party last year.

Fat Joe Criticized Over “Radical Black Racists” Remarks In N-Word Laced Rant

Fat Joe is catching heat over his remarks during a recent podcast appearance.

The Bronx-bred rapper of Cuban/ Puerto Rican descent sparked debate after discussing the Foundational Black Americans (FBA) group on Math Hoffa’s My Expert Opinion podcast. He mistakenly referred to the group as the “Foundational Black Authority,” while offering a scathing critique.

The FBA website describes the organization as “descendants of enslaved Black people who built the United States from scratch.”

However, according to Fat Joe, the group, who he referred to as “radical Black racists,” excluded Black people across the diaspora.

“It’s a group of these guys that don’t want to hear Jamaican, don’t want to hear Guyanese,” Fat Joe explained. “They don’t want to hear a Black guy that ain’t down with them, right? So, their job is to criticize anybody who don’t look like them. Who ain’t Black American.”

Fat Joe clarified he was talking about “the FBA” before disparaging the group.

“Whoever the f### these broke n##### is,” he added. “I’m just keeping it a buck. And their s### is to attack everyone on Twitter.”

Social Media Users React To Fat Joe’s FBA Critique

His remarks sparked debate online, with calling out his remarks.

When people want to denigrate Black American culture, they often use terms like FBA or ADOS disparagingly. Take Fat Joe, for instance,” one person shared. “His comments were wholly racist and inappropriate. FYI… we see you.”

“I’m so sorry, but I need Fat Joe to stop talking about Black people as if he is one,” added another. “I don’t care about his upbringing either.”

A third said, “The Latino Fat Joe got put on by Black Americans only to come out as an Anti-Black American Racist. This is a good case study on how Foreigners eat off Black Americans then immediately stab us in the back. We don’t need these Foreigners. They need us. Close the door on them.”

Skilla Baby Praises 50 Cent As Mentor, Following Lil Meech’s Rise In Acting

Skilla Baby is the latest to benefit from 50 Cent’s knack for mentorship and guidance. The entertainment mogul helped launch Lil Meech into acting success through the BMF TV series and now, Skilla Baby is getting primed to be next.

Skilla revealed that his connection to 50 Center came through mutual associates, including his manager Roccett, his manager and member of BMF, and a trusted friend, TV.

Once the dots were connected, 50 Center stepped in, offering invaluable advice and opportunities that have helped Skilla navigate his career with clarity and purpose.

“He helps me with a lot,” Skilla said in a recent interview with AllHipHop. “Just advice, any advice I need if I just need somebody to talk to. He’s a great mentor. He’s trying to push you in the right direction all the time.”

He continued, “I texted him the other day, I said, ‘Do you have any advice for me? I’m feeling kind of stagnant.’ The next week he had an opportunity for me and he just blessed me with another opportunity. 50 cent is just a great guy and I just want to shine some light on him.

“I feel like he gets recognized a lot for things that he does for himself, but he don’t get recognized for the things that he do for others.”

Skilla Baby also praised 50 for his behind-the-scenes generosity, noting how often the controversial mogul quietly supports others. Whether he’s by offering guidance, solving legal troubles, or being there, Skrilla says 50 is one of the good guys. “He does so much that people don’t even know about. He’s not just about his own success; he’s about helping others shine too,” Skilla said.

No word on what Skrilla’s first role will be or what show he may land on.

Meek Mill Praises Burkina Faso—Internet Can’t Stop Laughing

Meek Mill is getting roasted online after sharing his admiration for Burkina Faso.

The Philly rapper has notoriously faced years of online roasting, fueled by viral memes, social media missteps, public feuds and moments that the internet has turned into running jokes.

He added to the catalog of awkward posts with a tweet on Sunday (December 22), seemingly mistaking the West African country of Burkina Faso with its military leader, Captain Ibrahim Traore.

“Burkina Faso need social media,” Meek Mill wrote. “I been following him for a while now! I like his energy and heart!”

Miffed social media users swiftly responded with one asking, “Are you doing this on purpose ???”

Another clarified, “Bro, it’s an entire country, not a SoundCloud rapper waiting for your co-sign. Do some research before spewing nonsense.”

Others deduced that Meek Mill was praising Traore, who has been President of Burkina Faso since 6 October 2022 after seizing power in a coup.

“He’s talking about the President of Burkina Faso, Ibrahim Traore,” one user shared. “(one of the very few African leaders who aren’t puppets installed by the west). May Allah protect him…. The fact Meek Mill of all people is talking about him makes me respect him so much.”

Meek Mill Considers Ghana Move

While Meek Mill might struggle to distinguish his African nations from their leaders, he has considered a move to the continent. He toyed with the idea of buying property in Ghana back in 2020.

“I want to buy a property in Ghana where do I start? A nice house. I need to feel that experience with my family as another option in life,” Meek Mill explained. “I don’t wanna dedicate my whole life to the American lifestyle I been living.. the odds are too stacked against us it feels like!”

Then earlier this year, Meek Mill expressed his desire to become a Ghanaian citizen

“I wanna get citizenship in Ghana!!!!” he declared. “America made to tear black men down if you don’t follow orders!”

Check out some other responses to Meek Mill’s Burkina Faso blunder below.

Kim Kardashian Decides World Needed “Santa Baby” Video With Macaulay Culkin Cameo

Kim Kardashian has resurrected her short-lived music career with a new holiday single, a cover of “Santa Baby,” despite previously admitting she can’t sing.

For whatever god forsaken reason, the SKIMS founder surprised fans with the track, produced by brother-in-law, Travis Barker, who’s married to Kim’s older sister, Kourtney Kardashian.

Kardashian also dropped a video for the song, which arrived Sunday (December 22), just in time for Christmas.

The nightmarish home video-style footage features Kim Kardashian writing around on the ground and crawling on all fours through a bizarre Christmas party.

Macaulay Culkin makes a surprise cameo at the end of the video, where Kardashian kneels before Santa, who’s dramatically revealed to be the Home Alone star himself, also doubling as the person behind the eerie camera work.

Footage from The Kardashians shows Kim recording “Santa Baby” in 2023.

Kim Kardashian’s rendition of “Santa Baby” isn’t her first foray into the music business. The Kardashians star teamed up with The-Dream on “Jam (Turn It Up)” for charity in 2011.

She later admitted the single was her one big regret during an interview with Andy Cohen.

“It’s definitely a memory, and it was a fun experience,” Kardashian explained in 2014. “We gave the proceeds to a cancer organization. But if there’s one thing in life that I wish I didn’t do … I don’t like it when people kind of dabble into things they shouldn’t be. And that I don’t think I should have. Like, what gave me the right to think I could be a singer? Like, I don’t have a good voice.”

DDG & Halle Bailey Celebrate Son Halo’s First Birthday With Lavish Ferrari Gift

DDG and Halle Bailey have reunited to celebrate their little boy Halo, who just turned one, with a special celebration.

On Sunday (December 22), the rapper and YouTube personality shared a video of his lavish first birthday gift to Halo, a brand new red Ferrari.

“Look what I bought Halo for his 1st birthday!!!!!” DDG wrote on a video of him gifting the little boy the supercar.

Other footage from the little boy’s big day includes DDG and Halle Bailey walking Halo into the party, where the one-year-old seemed bewildered by a life-sized version of the beloved children’s character CoComelon.

Meanwhile, an emotional Bailey choked up and grew teary-eyed before singing “Happy Birthday” to Halo.

DDG recently revealed he wants to have more children with Halle Bailey in the next few years, despite their slit.

They parted ways in October, with DDG revealing the separation was mutual. Nonetheless, he expressed his desire for a larger family last month.

“I do want to have another kid,” he said. “But I will say this — I don’t want to have another kid too far away. Like, I don’t want Halo to be 10 and his little brother is 1. I feel like that defeats the entire purpose of having another kid.”

DDG went on to say he doesn’t want “baby mamas,” and admitted he was not over Halle Bailey.

“No, I’m not dating,” he explained. “I haven’t ‘moved on,’ whatever that means in y’all’s sense. I’m just really focused on work — that’s what I be trying to explain to y’all. This week, I done linked with three girls — for work purposes — and I go on TikTok and I see y’all making edits like I’m dating this girl. Y’all don’t even know. I’m just working.”

Pharrell Williams Named UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador

Pharrell Williams has stepped into a new role as a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, taking on a global mission to champion artistic education and entrepreneurship.

The announcement was made during a ceremony at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris on Tuesday, where the renowned musician and fashion innovator pledged to promote initiatives aimed at preserving Indigenous heritage, enhancing educational access for women, preventing genocide, and fostering equality.

“Growing up in Virginia, never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be given an opportunity like this one,” Williams said during his acceptance speech before an audience of international dignitaries.

The appointment marks a significant milestone not only for Williams but for the United States, as he is the first American to hold this role since the country’s reentry into UNESCO in 2022 after a years-long absence.

The Grammy-winning artist’s connection to Paris has deepened in recent years. Just two years ago, he was named men’s creative director for the French luxury brand Louis Vuitton, solidifying his influence in the fashion industry. Recently, he took the stage to perform at the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral, further cementing his ties to the French capital and its cultural scene.

In his speech, Williams emphasized the importance of education and opportunity for those in underserved communities. “I really hope to deepen that sense of unity and togetherness,” he said. “My goal is to promote the kind of education that helps even the odds for marginalized kids like myself, and adults by closing the opportunity path.”

He continued, “At the core of everything that I do is the belief that opportunity should not be determined by the circumstances of where you come from.”

The appointment also comes on the heels of one of his standout moments last year when his Louis Vuitton Spring 2025 men’s line was unveiled at UNESCO’s iconic headquarters. Williams described the showcase as an “homage to mankind.”

As Pharrell Williams embarks on his new role, the musician, designer, and philanthropist carries with him a vision of inclusivity and hope. Through education, cultural preservation, and entrepreneurship, he intends to inspire the next generation and bridge the gaps that hold back marginalized communities.

Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg’s “Missionary” Short Film Is Action-Packed Adrenaline Rush

Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg have reunited on a new short film tied to Snoop’s latest album, Missionary.

The project, released jointly by Death Row, Aftermath and Interscope Records, marks the iconic duo’s first major collaboration since 1993’s Doggystyle, an album that redefined West Coast Hip-Hop and cemented their legacy as trailblazers in the genre.

The partnership between Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre has always been built on trust and mutual respect, something Dre touched on while describing his role in shaping the project.

“It comes along with a massive amount of trust,” Dr. Dre said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. “And you know, Snoop’s putting his entire career and his legacy and everything that he’s built in my hands. So I have to really nurture that and make sure it’s presented in the right way.”

One of the focal points of the new album is “Last Dance With Mary Jane,” a standout track that features Tom Petty and Jelly Roll.

Dr. Dre shared the backstory of Petty’s connection to the track, recalling a conversation with the rock icon, facilitated by Interscope co-founder Jimmy Iovine.

“I have this video clip with Tom Petty saying, ‘If Dre ever samples the song Mary Jane’s Last Dance, he’s going to have an instant hit on his hands.’”

With a blend of nostalgia and a forward-looking sound, the track exemplifies the depth of the duo’s artistry.

Snoop Dogg views Missionary as a reflection of his maturity as an artist and the creative energy Dr. Dre continues to bring out in him.

“We [still] in love with what we do. I’m peaking right now and Dr. Dre see that,” Snoop explained. “He brings the best out of me because he’s particular about everything I say, the way I deliver it, the f#####’ music and the concept of the songs..”

GloRilla Gets Her Own Library & Media Center In Memphis

GloRilla visited Melrose High School in Memphis this week, donating $25,000 to support literacy and academic advancement within her hometown community.

The Hip-Hop artist and Melrose alumna surprised students during her December 19 visit, where her generosity was met with cheers and admiration.

“It’s a nostalgic feeling,” GloRilla said during the event. “I just can’t believe I’m this old now. I hope they happy, and I hope they’re excited.”

The funds will be used to renovate the school’s library, an initiative to create a more dynamic learning space for students and foster a reading culture.

Once completed, the library will be renamed the Gloria H. Woods Media Center in tribute to the artist’s birth name.

According to school officials, the revitalized space will include updated technology, comfortable study areas, and literacy-driven resources designed to benefit students and the broader Orange Mound neighborhood.

For the Grammy-nominated rapper, the opportunity to give back to her alma mater represents fulfilling a personal dream.

Reflecting on her own high school experience, GloRilla explained how important it was for her to have the chance to make a difference.

“I always wished somebody could do that when I was going to school, and so the fact that I had the ability to do it now, it just warms my heart,” she said.

Melrose alumni and staff praised GloRilla’s contribution, describing it as inspiring current students. Addressing students during the visit, GloRilla offered encouraging words about setting and achieving goals.

“Whatever you want to do, go for it. Have faith, manifest, and go for it,” she emphasized.

The day ended with applause and gratitude as the rapper left a lasting impression at the school that helped shape her journey.

Comedian Corey Holcomb Accused Of Punching Female Comic In Face

Comedian Corey Holcomb, who is currently the host of The Corey Holcomb 5150 Show, has been accused of assaulting a women outside the Hollywood Improv Club earlier this month.

According to TMZ, witnesses told law enforcement that Holcomb approached comedian Cristina Payne as she lingered near the venue and started screaming at her. Sources claimed they were told the 56-year-old podcast host threatened to punch Payne in the face, so another man attempted to diffuse the situation. Holcomb allegedly swung over the man and punched Payne directly in the face.

Several people, including Holcomb, supposedly tackled the aspiring peacemaker before all hell broke loose and Holcomb took off running. When officers showed up at the scene, they took a battery report and left without making any arrests.

The feud reportedly dates back to July, when Holcomb said he wanted to “super sock” Payne. He added, “Somebody come get this b#### before I f### her up.”

Holcomb is apparently using his podcast to deny the allegations, but there are multiple people who are willing to testify against him if he’s arrested and charged.

It’s not the first time Holcomb has been accused of harassing or trying to intimidate a woman.

In 2022, he dedicated ample time on his podcast to tear down and attempt to intimate a former journalist at HipHopDX, who reported on his claim that Rick Ross ditched the 85 South Show mid-interview for salacious reasons.

The hosts were told he had to catch a flight, but DC Young Fly found that excuse hard to believe.

“We ain’t get no dap?!” DC said of his exit. “How he just gon’ disappear on a n-gga like that? We ain’t even say bye or nothing!”

During a taping of the D’s Loose Talk About Bullshit with Darlene Ortiz, Holcomb suggested Ross left the show after realizing none of the hosts were homosexual.

“Out of nowhere Rick said he had to use the bathroom to take his jacket off … after some good time had passed, Ross’ team informed the show that Ross had departed,” Ortiz read. “He caught a flight. They were like, ‘What the hell?’”

Holcomb replied, “That boy showed up at the 85 South Show and realized ain’t none of these n-ggas gay. I’m leavin … he was around all heterosexual n-ggas. Don’t nobody say that. N-gga, we know what it is. Y’all muthafuckas get mad at me. N-gga, let me tell you something.

“If Rick Ross watching this, let me tell you something — stop hiring drivers. Drivers always tell on ya, n-gga. I know what happened at LAX with that boy.”

After the story ran, Holcomb proceeded to track down the writer and scream at her on the phone before having a total hissy fit on his show.

The investigation into the latest incident is ongoing.

Donald Trump’s Latest Appointee Gives Political World Reality Show Style Shock

Incoming President Donald Trump appointed TV producer Mark Burnett, the mind behind The Apprentice, as a special envoy to the United Kingdom, citing Burnett’s entertainment industry success and international experience as assets for fostering diplomacy.

“It is my great honor to appoint Mark Burnett as the Special Envoy to the United Kingdom,” Trump posted on Truth Social, his self-created social media outlet.

Trump praised Burnett’s career accolades, describing him as someone with “a distinguished career in television production and business,” who possesses a “blend of diplomatic acumen and international recognition.”

Burnett, originally from London, played a key role in Trump’s rise to television prominence, producing the NBC competition reality show The Apprentice, which aired from 2004 to 2016.

The program added a sharp-edged business persona to Trump’s public image as he oversaw contestants from a sleek boardroom at Trump Tower in Manhattan.

During the announcement, Trump emphasized Burnett’s credentials, including 13 Emmy wins and his reputation for producing a string of high-profile programs like Survivor, Shark Tank, and The Voice.

“Mark will work to enhance diplomatic relations, focusing on areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment opportunities, and cultural exchanges,” Donald Trump wrote.

Trump expressed confidence that Burnett will strengthen ties between the U.S. and the U.K.

This latest appointment aligns with Trump’s pattern of selecting prominent figures from outside traditional political circles.

By tapping Burnett, a television producer with deep ties to both the entertainment and business worlds, Trump seems to prioritize familiarity and name recognition over traditional diplomatic or policy experience.

Critics and supporters alike have reacted to Burnett’s appointment, with some arguing it reflects Trump’s style of governance, which often blends high-profile media with politics.

While Burnett’s post is not a formal diplomatic role, his ties to the U.K., coupled with his media-savvy reputation, underscore Trump’s preference for headline-making choices.

Trick Daddy Threatens To Leave Florida Over Proposed Ban Of Adult Video Website

Trick Daddy is seemingly furious over Florida’s rumored plan to ban the popular adult website Pornhub and allowed his frustrations to reach a boiling point during his recent livestream.

During a fiery live the veteran Miami rapper unleashed a profanity-laced rant, threatening to leave the Sunshine State if the site becomes inaccessible. In fact, his address kicks off by counting down the days until the proposed ban would go into effect — alluding to his departure syncing up with the quickly approaching deadline.

“If y’all take Pornhub off the internet in Florida, b#tch, I’m outta here,” Trick Daddy declared.

As an individual off camera chimed in, telling Trick Daddy, “You got 14 days to pack your sh#t” the “I’m A Thug” rapper responded and confirmed his intent was true, saying, “I love y’all, but if they take Pornhub out of Florida, b#tch, I’m outta here, I swear to God.”

A post shared by AllHipHop (@allhiphopcom)

Trick Daddy continued, doubling down on his outrage and identifying the move a personal attack.

“You don’t have access to Pornhub and TV, b#tch, I’m gone,” he said. “14 days, b#tch, I’m gone, man.”

In the rant, Trick Daddy also called out women in Florida, accusing them of being inconsistent in their behavior.

“Women down here, y’all act funny,” he said. “Y’all act wishy-washy. Y’all ration out the p#### and the head,” he said bluntly. “So a n#gga learned to just get by.”

As the tirade escalated, Trick had a message for both the women, and lawmakers in Florida.

“If you get rid of m############ Pornhub, it’s a Florida without the Trick, Daddy, Dollars, Sugar. You won’t put no sugar on my tongue if you ain’t got no Pornhub.”

For those wondering what exactly has Trick Daddy fuming, its the proposed p### ban apart of legislation being shopped in the rumored “Project 2025” agenda linked to conservatives. Earlier this year, the adult film industry mounted an aggressive approach to entering the political fray via the “Hands Off My P###” campaign. The campaign has spawned numerous ads that hit websites across the adult industry, warning viewers about conservative efforts to crack down on explicit content. According to a report from The Daily Beast, this $100,000 initiative was launched on October 7 and targets battleground states such as Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada.

@msnbc

The p### industry has launched a “hands off my p###” campaign, targeting Project 2025, with video ads on pornographic websites. “Everybody looking at online p### in those states being told, right then and there when they’re thinking about that, that JD Vance and Donald Trump will make p### a criminal offense if they get into office? What is the likely effect of that on, say, I don’t know, the gender gap among voters in the swing states?” @The Rachel Maddow Show asks.

♬ original sound – MSNBC

The campaign’s main goal is to target the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 plan by highlighting the fact that it isn’t just a talking point, but rather a full-on plan to criminalize p### and prosecute those who create it. The ads scream, “Don’t let them control what you watch” and “Keep your hands off my p##n.” With statistics showing that 44% of men aged 18 to 29 and 57% of those aged 30 to 49 watched p##n in the last month, the campaign knows its audience well.

Check out the video above for more details on the efforts to ban p### across the U.S.

Montel Williams Recounts Taking 13 Pills Daily Until He Discovered Weed

Montel Williams revealed he once consumed up to 13 pills daily at the height of his success as a talk show icon, a dependency fueled by his battle with multiple sclerosis and the ease with which his fame granted him access to powerful opioids.

Speaking on Maria Menounos’ Heal Squad podcast, the 68-year-old openly described stockpiling prescription painkillers in his early years after being diagnosed with MS in 1999.

“As celebrities, we can get whatever we want,” Williams said, reflecting on how his public profile made it disturbingly simple to obtain medication during his 17-year run on The Montel Williams Show, which aired from 1991 to 2008.

Traveling extensively, the former host would tap into a network of hotel concierges to connect with doctors willing to prescribe drugs on short notice.

“I found I could call the hotel doctor and get a 10-day prescription of any drug I wanted, and they would just happily give it to me,” he admitted.

At the time, Williams relied on medications like Talwin and morphine to manage the debilitating pain associated with MS. However, his reliance on the pills soon grew into an addiction.

“There was one point in time when I was taking about 12 to 13 pills a day,” he confessed, detailing the grip the medications held over his life.

Williams credits his primary physician with bringing the situation to a dramatic turning point. After uncovering his behavior, the doctor contacted him to intervene.

“He called and said, ‘Dude, you’re done. I’m not writing you any more of these,’” Williams recalled.

The physician even threatened to alert the Drug Enforcement Administration, warning Williams he could be labeled a “doctor shopper” and flagged in national databases to block future prescriptions.

The ultimatum steered Williams toward a non-traditional treatment method that ultimately changed his approach to managing MS-related pain: medical marijuana.

Following his doctor’s recommendation, he explored cannabis as an alternative to opioids, a decision that proved transformative for his health and well-being.

Today, Williams is a vocal advocate for medical marijuana and its potential to relieve chronic pain.

Diddy Attacks Inmate’s Lawsuit Over $400M “Cash Grab”

Sean “Diddy” Combs has had enough of what his legal team describes as a “decades-long onslaught of frivolous and vexatious lawsuits” filed by Michigan inmate Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith.

The Hip-Hop mogul also asks the court to impose restrictions barring the inmate from filing additional lawsuits without judicial approval and to have Cardello-Smith cover his mounting legal expenses.

Filed by Cardello-Smith, who is serving a decades-long sentence for rape, the lawsuit alleges that nearly 30 years ago, Diddy assaulted him in Michigan and demands over $400 million in damages.

The case gained significant attention when a judge issued a $100 million default judgment and prohibited Diddy from selling his Los Angeles mansion after failing to appear for a hearing.

That judgment, however, was later vacated after Diddy’s legal team successfully argued the inmate had altered key court documents to obtain the order.

“This barrage of fabricated claims must come to an end,” said Diddy’s attorney, David Fink, in court documents. “Plaintiff’s frequent filings clearly indicate he has no intention of stopping his meritless attacks.”

According to Diddy’s legal team, Cardello-Smith has filed at least 173 federal lawsuits over the years, with many dismissed as baseless.

The inmate has repeatedly attempted to draw celebrities, such as Jennifer Lopez, into his claims, even listing Lopez as a planned witness in this particular case.

Lawyers for Diddy argue the accusations have no basis in law or fact, labeling them “fantastical fabrications.”

The ongoing legal battle took another unusual turn with Cardello-Smith’s claim that Diddy had visited him in prison to negotiate a settlement—a statement that prison records contradict.

Additionally, he alleged that he served legal documents to Diddy years before filing the lawsuit, another assertion that Diddy’s attorneys have described as a fantasy.

Diddy’s legal team is requesting harsh measures to address what it sees as an abuse of the court system.

In addition to seeking dismissal of the current case, they have called for sanctions under federal law, including a permanent injunction requiring Cardello-Smith to obtain court approval before initiating any future lawsuits.

This type of court order, referred to as a prefiling injunction, is typically used to curb serial litigants with a history of filing frivolous claims.

“Plaintiff has caused significant legal fees and costs to be incurred by Mr. Combs,” Fink stated in the court filings, adding that the lawsuit represented a “calculated abuse” of legal resources.

Diddy’s attorneys also seek monetary sanctions to recover those legal fees, emphasizing the strain imposed by Cardello-Smith’s history of unfounded legal actions.

Due to his history of repeated, meritless claims, the filings highlighted that Cardello-Smith has been barred in multiple courts from submitting lawsuits without prepayment of fees.

Diddy’s legal team argued this pattern demonstrates a need for similar restrictions in the current case.

Through this motion, Diddy’s lawyers aim not only to bring this case to a close but also to prevent future legal obstacles that might arise from what they describe as an “ongoing pattern of harassment” by Cardello-Smith.

The federal court has not yet ruled on Diddy’s motion, leaving the next chapter of the protracted legal drama uncertain.

CHIC Singer Alfa Anderson Dies At 78: DJ Premier, Spike Lee & More Console Nile Rodgers

CHIC played a central role in shaping the disco, funk and R&B genres. Formed in 1976 by guitarist Rodgers and bassist Bernard Edwards, CHIC became synonymous with infectious grooves and sophisticated arrangements. Their music was characterized by tight rhythms, lush strings and smooth vocal harmonies, creating an iconic sound that resonated across dance floors worldwide.

Hits such as “Le Freak,” “Good Times” and “I Want Your Love” defined the disco era and showcased the group’s ability to craft dance anthems. Beyond their own hits, Rodgers and Edwards became sought-after producers, influencing a generation of artists through their innovative production techniques and songwriting.

CHIC’s legacy extends far beyond their chart-topping success. Their song “Good Times” became one of the most sampled tracks in music history, laying the foundation for Hip-Hop’s rise with its bassline featured in Sugarhill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight.”

Despite challenges following the decline of disco in the early 1980s, CHIC’s music experienced a revival in later decades, with Rodgers enjoying a career resurgence through collaborations with artists like Daft Punk on the Grammy Award-winning single “Get Lucky.”

CHIC was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017 and remains a symbol of enduring creativity and cultural influence, bridging the worlds of funk, disco and modern pop.

Anderson, who joined the group in 1977, contributed to “Le Freak,” “Good Times” and “I Want Your Love.” Alongside her fellow vocalists, including Luci Martin and Norma Jean Wright (who preceded her), Anderson brought elegance and charisma to CHIC’s live performances and recordings, complementing Rodgers and Edwards’ production style.

After her tenure with CHIC, Anderson pursued a solo career, continuing to showcase her versatility as an artist. She has worked as a session singer for various artists and genres. In later years, she reunited with former CHIC members for special projects and performances, celebrating the enduring legacy of the band. Her contributions to CHIC’s success and the broader disco era have solidified her place as a vital figure in the history of pop music.

Anderson became a high school principal in the 1990s and her former school, El Puente Academy for Peace and Justice High School in Brooklyn, wrote a tribute to her. Read it below.

Big Pun’s Widow Storms Out Of Interview After Fat Joe Question: “Are You Serious?!”

Big Pun’s widow, Liza Rios, did a recent interview with the Uppercut podcast that didn’t exactly go according to plan. At one point during the conversation, she was asked why she wouldn’t apologize to Fat Joe to settle their differences. It went downhill from there.

It began innocently enough, with Rios suggesting Fat Joe would have been nothing without Big Pun.

“Joe probably would’ve faded out because if another label would have signed Big Pun, Joe probably would have faded to the back,” she said. “[…] Joe’s a smart business man. He’s stayed relevant all these years.”

But then the interviewer said, “All he wants is an apology and you can’t do that?” to which she says, “Are you serious? Why would I give him an apology after what he put my family through? What he did legally.”

They started to talk over each other until it was clear Rios was getting upset. She then said, “Can we stop this for a second? I’m leaving this interview. This is a whole Fat Joe situation now. Yeah, I’m good. I’m good off of this. I’m not comfortable and I’m leaving this interview.”

Rios accused the interviewer of acting like he was on Fat Joe’s “side” as she slammed his “attitude.” As she stood up to leave she added, “I am not going to sit here and explain to you what he did to my family […] You f##### up.”

Big Pun (real name Christopher Rios) was discovered by Fat Joe, who signed him to his Terror Squad label in the mid-1990s. Fat Joe played a crucial role in introducing Big Pun to the world and, subsequently, Pun became the first solo Latino rapper to go platinum with his 1998 album Capital Punishment.

Tragedy struck in 2000, when he passed away at age 28. Pun, who suffered from obesity, died of a heart attack and complications from the disease. His death left a void in the Hip-Hop community, especially for Fat Joe, who publicly mourned his friend’s loss.

In the years after Big Pun’s death, controversy arose between Fat Joe and Pun’s family, particularly Liza Rios.

Rios accused Fat Joe of failing to properly compensate Pun’s family for his music royalties. She claimed that the family was left in financial hardship while Fat Joe profited from Big Pun’s legacy. In 2014, she filed a lawsuit against Fat Joe, alleging that the Terror Squad owed Pun’s estate over $1 million in royalties.

Fat Joe has denied these allegations, maintaining that he fulfilled his contractual obligations. In the years since, Fat Joe has consistently expressed his love and respect for Big Pun, emphasizing that he did his best to support Pun’s family after his death. However, the legal and public disputes have cast a shadow over their once-strong partnership.

She emphasized the importance of owning her space, adding, “Other people’s opinions of me are not my business.”

As a mother of two, Aguilera also touched on how her experiences in the entertainment industry have influenced how she raises her children, Max, 16, and Summer, 10.

“Your kids trigger things in you that you don’t want them to go through,” she said. “It’s almost like you’re reliving this whole thing again.”
