Raury Addresses Protesting Dolce & Gabbana At The Fashion House’s Milan Runway Show

(AllHipHop News) Atlanta-raised artist Raury is becoming known not just for his music, but also for making social statements through public protests.

The creator of 2015’s All I Need album continued his role as a demonstrator during his modeling appearance for Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring-Summer 2018 runway show in Milan.

While participating in the presentation’s finale, Raury removed a bomber to reveal the words “PROTEST DG,” “GIVE ME FREEDOM,” and “I AM NOT YOUR SCAPEGOAT” written on his body.

The 21-year-old entertainer posted about his D&G protest on Instagram:

I never felt so alone, so terrified, yet so alive… Found myself in tears when I realized the people understood, and I’m not just screaming in the dark anymore … if ur in this industry remember that there is a god, and he protects the good… so do the work when aligned to. following my heart from this day forth knowing that I am living truth… If it ever means my end so be it.

In recent years, Dolce & Gabbana faced significant backlash for Domenico Dolce’s comments about gay parenthood.

The Italian fashion house also caught some negative critiques for its “ironic” troll campaign in response to critics’ complaints about their association with First Lady Melania Trump.

Raury spoke to GQ about his objection to D&G’s $245 “Boycott Dolce & Gabbana” shirts and videos ads featuring fake protests.

“The ‘Boycott Dolce & Gabbana’ T-shirt they created completely makes a mockery of what ‘boycotting’ is,” said the LoveRenaissance representative. “Boycotting is the people’s voice. A protest is the people’s voice. It has power. It changes things.”

Raury also did not want to be viewed as supporting a company that was linked to Melania Trump.

He supposedly found out about Dolce & Gabbana’s connection to the First Lady after arriving in Milan for the show.

This is not the first time the “God’s Whisper” performer took a stand against the Trump family.

Last September, Raury wore a Mexico soccer jersey with Donald Trump’s name crossed out on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

The then-presidential candidate was a guest on the same episode of the CBS program.

“Honestly, fashion, music, movies, art, people, construction workers, human beings, everyone mingles with politics at work. That’s life. Show your true colors. And if you show your true colors, sh-t like this might happen to you. That’s just the truth,” Raury told GQ. “If your message is cool, then it’s cool. But if it ain’t, millennials are going to come and let you know. And we won’t let up.”

Jay Z Changes His Name…Again

(AllHipHop News) Jay Z has embarked on the next stage of his career by changing his name… again.

The 47-year-old rapper, real name Shawn Carter, has been known as Jay Z since 2013, when he dropped the hyphen from his moniker ahead of the release of his album Magna Carta Holy Grail.

But now, before his next offering, visual album 4:44, hits shelves, the father-of-three has had another identity crisis, adding the grammatical mark back in and capping up his whole title.

According to website Pitchfork, the rapper will now be known as Jay-Z a Roc Nation representative for the star reportedly confirmed.

News of the name change came as Jay-Z was seen for the first time since wife Beyonce reportedly gave birth to twins last week.

The “Empire State Of Mind” star was seen heading out of his Beverly Hills mansion with a bodyguard and two friends to head to Soul Cycle in West Hollywood on Monday (June 19).

Wearing a black hoodie and shorts, he was then photographed making his exit through the loading dock of the gym, where he flashed smiles to waiting photographers while getting back into his car.

Neither Jay-Z or Beyonce have publicly commented on the birth of their twins, reported to be a boy and a girl.

However, Beyonce’s father Matthew Knowles appeared to have confirmed the pair’s arrival by writing on Twitter on Saturday: “They’re here! #beyonce #twins #jayz #happybirthday. Happy Birthday to the twins! Love, Granddad.”

Reports the “Formation” singer had become a mom began swirling this week when Jay-Z missed his Songwriters Hall of Fame induction in New York City last Thursday night.

Sources also told E! News that he was spotted heading into a Los Angeles hospital alongside his five-year-old daughter Blue Ivy.

An unidentified woman was also seen entering the hospital carrying two baby foot-shaped pink and blue balloons and flowers with a card that read, “Congratulations B & J.”

DJ Khaled Says Festival Organizers Sabotaged His Set

(AllHipHop News) DJ Khaled has accused Electric Daisy Carnival organizers of sabotaging his set, after he was booed offstage at the weekend due to poor sound.

The “I’m the One” hitmaker was scheduled to play an hour-long set at the Las Vegas festival but ended up playing only 20 minutes after his performance was blighted with technical difficulties and sound issues.

The problems led to the crowd booing him off and chanting for the next act, DJ Yellow Claw, to come onstage instead.

Khaled took to Instagram to share a video showing him telling the audience that “they” are trying to cut his set, before he hands the microphone to somebody standing behind the DJ decks, who then says, “We don’t want to, we’ve got to”.

In the caption, he wrote,”They Tried to sabotage my sound so many times THEY couldn’t (sic) get the sound right on my set and i still stood on stage wit (with) no sound and when they got the sound to work they want cut my set short but I still rep (represent) for my people anyone else would walk off stage (sic).”

In another post, he claimed the crew were suffering technical difficulties before he went on and delayed his set because of the issues. However, he says he insisted he perform regardless of the problems – as he didn’t want to let his fans down.

“I heard my fans and I said I’m go out even if the sound cuts off and even if they cut my time short,” he wrote. “I’m here for my fans even if the sound man and promoter don’t have there stuff together I forgive them thoe (though) love is the (key)!!! MY FANS CAME OUT ! SO I CAME OUT !! NO MATTER WHAT!”

Where Two Rappers Offered 250K To Beef With Nicki Minaj?

(AllHipHop Rumors) It would seem like there are a multitude of ways to get on these days. One of the most constant ones has been BEEF. Now, most of the times, the newer rapper just does what they need to do, find a well known rappers and calls them out. However, the labels are now doing ALLEGEDLY desperate maneuvers to encourage their artists to beef with other rappers. Seems like two rappers were offered money to beef with Nicki Minaj.Lady LeShurr and another one that I never heard of were both reportedly offered $250,000 to beef with Nicki Minaj. Crazy!

What do you think of this? What strikes me is that both of these ladies are from the UK, I think. And both apparently said no, which is more interesting. I would beef with Oprah or Mike Tyson for $250k right about now! Check the social stuff below.

What up with Nicki and Nas tho? Just wondering.

Vic Mensa Sons DJ Akademiks And Says He Wanted To Put Hands On Him

(AllHipHop Rumors) Vic Mensa is about that life. LOL! He said he wanted to slap the fire out of DJ Akademiks for talking about Chiraq and making light of the deaths. And then he called him a b####! TO HIS FACE. Now, that’s a lot. DJ Akademiks made a lot of waves off that Chicago situation and I will be real in saying I definitely got to knowing homie AKA from those vids. I didn’t pay attention enough to see if bruh was disrespectful. If I was from the Chi, I am sure I would be looking harder.

Check the clip and a bit of commentary.

Future & Mike Dean Respond To Reports They Claimed Copyright Infringement For Desiigner’s “Panda”

(AllHipHop News) From the moment Desiigner broke out with his #1 single “Panda,” observers began comparing the Brooklynite’s musical style to Future.

“Panda” producer Adnan “Menace” Khan recently reignited the Desiigner/Future conversation.

In an interview with DJ Booth, Menace claimed Future put in a copyright infringement claim because “Panda” reportedly sounded like the Atlanta hit maker’s song “F-ck Up Some Commas.”

Menace stated veteran producer/engineer Mike Dean put in a claim over the record as well.

A representative for Future told XXL the alleged infringement complaint was “not true.”

Dean, a close musical associate of Kanye West, also released a statement to the publication addressing the allegations.

“He should get facts straight before he speaks on my name. I let the claim go because I have better sh-t to do than fight with people over BS. Hope he enjoys the bread and appreciates what I did to help him make $$. That’s about it. Menace, put some respek on my name,” stated Dean.

Kanye sampled “Panda” for his The Life Of Pablo cut “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 2.”

According to Menace, he has yet to receive payment for his work being used on Ye’s album.

“I doubt Kanye’s paid anyone, to be honest,” said the 23-year-old British producer. “Kanye’s a funny one when it comes to paying people money.”

Last year, Menace revealed Desiigner only paid $200 for the “Panda” beat.

He has since signed a publishing deal with Tim Blacksmith’s Stellar Songs.

Thanks to a tweet from filmmaker Chris Black, they are now rumors that 4:44 will be produced entirely by Dion “No I.D.” Wilson.

The story has since been picked up by Billboard, The Fader, and other publications.

However, JAY-Z, Tidal, nor Roc Nation have confirmed Black’s statement.

No I.D. has worked closely with the Roc Nation boss in the past.

The production for JAY’s “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune),” “Run This Town,” and “Holy Grail” was handled by Wilson.

Common, Kanye West, Nas, Big Sean, Kid Cudi, and others used the No I.D. sound for their records as well.

Atlanta Entertainment Basketball League: For the Love Basketball and Community

(AllHipHop Lifestyle) Since the inception of the Atlanta Entertainment Basketball League, Atlanta has evolved into a city with a vast economic divide. In 2015, Business Insider called the city “the most unequal city in America.” The heavily gentrified downtown has caused Rawlings to shift his focus to a new underserved community.

Jahi Rawlings founded AEBL in 2013 to provide an opportunity to bring the character building elements of good sportsmanship and teamwork in playing basketball directly to the disenfranchised Atlanta neighborhood, the city’s Westside.

In its fifth season, AEBL games will take place at Kipp Atlanta Collegiate High School, a charter school on the west side of the city. The school is in a neighborhood with multiple elementary and middle schools, as well as a large population of single-parent or grandparent-led households. AEBL provides exciting weekends in a safe environment for the youth that’s filled with entertainment and the joy of watching basketball as they interact with positive black male role models.

The NBA season ends in early June when students are getting out of school for the summer, and they are met by a dearth of constructive activities with plenty of time on their hands. AEBL games take place on Saturday and Sunday and are free, and children are given access to events that offer free live basketball and music entertainment. AEBL games are announced by Bria Janelle, the only female On Court Announcer in Pro-Am Basketball.

Since 2013, attendance grew from a couple hundred people to a range of 1,500 to 2,000 every weekend. AEBL games feature twelve teams of professional, college, street-ballers, and high school players. Games take place amid fan-friendly entertainment to include musical performances. The 12 teams are sponsored by artists from Atlanta’s hip-hop community including: Think It’s a Game Entertainment, Goodlife Music Group, and Street Execs. In early July, AEBL players will travel to Paris to compete in Quai54, the largest outdoor streetball tournament in the world.

“The AEBL’s strongest asset is our relationship with the community,” Rawlings explains. In addition to the games, the Atlanta Entertainment Basketball League also hosts a variety of key community impact events: Season Kick-Off Block Party, sponsored summer camps and basketball clinics, as well as a back- to-school backpack giveaway.

Additionally, the AEBL signature charity basketball game branded with the hashtag #Hoop4ACause gathers thousands of toys and household items for less-fortunate families in Atlanta families during the year-end holiday season. The list of special guests and players at AEBL games include NBA stars Dwight Howard, Lou Williams and Paul Millsap, rapper and Atlanta native 2 Chainz, Carolina Panthers Quarterback Cam Newton stopped by. Many more have supported the program via guest appearances and participation in basketball games.

Through entertainment industry relationships and corporate sponsorships, Rawlings has grown and positioned AEBL to be one of the most successful programs in the country.  AEBL recently closed an exclusive, multi-year apparel partnership. AEBL has partnered with Atlanta radio station – Streetz 94.5, Nike, Mountain Dew and Kroger. To assist in the growth of the program, Nike provides AEBL with uniforms and sports products.

“I think our partner brands recognize Atlanta’s cultural impact on the world,” Rawlings explains, “The AEBL has been able to tap into the community and the people.”

REVIEW: ‘The Murder Business’ by Annimeanz

Annimeanz (pronounced “Any Means”) started selling crack at age 11 and spent his formative years between the tough streets of Cudahy, a small city in Los Angeles county, and a prison cell.  With a father who died of a heroin overdose and a mother who also struggled with drugs, he was often left to fend for himself.  Realizing that a lifetime of incarceration was inevitable unless he changed his ways, he decided to pursue a career in music.  Initially, he was a part of Glasses Malone’s Blu Division Crew, but has since decided to venture out on his own and the result is significant artistic growth for someone looking create a long-standing legacy which is based on someone making a change for the better.

Ironically, at first glance, Annimeanz latest offering, The Murder Business, looks like the same hardcore Left Coast Hip-Hop that listeners have been accustom to for years.  However, the verses he spits do anything but glorify the pitfalls of the hood and instead serve as a harsh reminder of the grim realities of gang-life.

Sonically, the influence of California is all over this project.  From sounds similar to DJ Mustard on one track (“Back Out”) to even flipping one of the same samples Dr. Dre did for “Let Me Ride” on another (“Like the Westside”), The Murder Business’ production adheres to a few different tried-and-true formulas over its 14 tracks.  And while the beats overall definitely don’t disappoint, they don’t break any new ground either.

Fortunately, Annimeanz is far from an artist who leans on dope soundscapes to get by and his words are where he really shines.  One of his social media bios even indicates that a goal of his is to become the top Latin lyricist.  If this material is any indication, he could claim that highly-coveted position sooner than later.  On an album standout, “Dope Head Rental, he says, “I done seen hard times, no role model / Had to drink water out an old Coke bottle / Put the rock in my mouth if the Ds comin‘ / If you see somethin’, you probably shouldn’t say nuthin’ / Yeah, cause them young boys got guns / And you can get your s**t spun if your mouth run.”

Many have tried, but few have succeeded at painting such a vivid picture of life in the inner-city.  Annimeanz is an emcee who fits into the latter category and that is wonderful gift that he will hopefully continue to use to speak for those in his community.  Some records do fall short because they’re just about getting money (“F**k You, Pay Me”) or calling out gold diggers (“Never See You Broke”).  And because he is clearly capable of more, those tunes are a bit of a let down.

Another highlight is the Jus1-produced “Turnt Up” which masterfully takes that popular phrase and puts it in perspective of what it could mean in the streets as opposed to how it is commonly used in the clubs.  “On this block, motherf***ers get shot / And ain’t nobody out here trying to call the damn cops / Look, you don’t wanna see it turnt up / Nah, you don’t want to see it turnt up.”  He then goes on to criticize those who project a fake persona to look tougher than they really are.  “You rappers is all liars with multiple front priors / You can get lit quick with the fire like Richard Pryor.”  Those type of things pack a more powerful punch than the tired Hip-Hop gangsta rap cliches that he sometimes relies on.  In the future, I would look forward to him expounding on his experiences even more with detailed stories rather than general scenarios.

The Murder Business shows a lot of potential.  Musically, it knows how to attract an audience and lyrically it can be truly captivating.  The pros considerably outweigh the cons.  I get the the feeling that this is just scratching the surface too and I eagerly await more material and depth from someone who is wise far beyond his years based on the life he has lived.

In a world where Hip-Hop now touches every facet of popular culture, it is important to be reminded how powerful rap music can be, and considering it was created as way of giving a voice to the voiceless and the oppressed, Annimeanz is clearly a mouthpiece for all the residents of Cudahy and every ghetto around the world like it.  No matter how big Hip-Hop gets, this voice should never be ignored because with so many people listening, the time is now to spread awareness about problems that are still so prevalent.  And who better educate those who need to know than someone who has been through the struggle himself and survived?

Hip-Hop doesn’t get any realer than this.  Respect due.

Rating: 8/10

SZA Talks Using Hallucinogens To Get Over Writer’s Block, Breaks Down Finding Her Sound (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Singer-songwriter SZA is receiving widespread acclaim for her debut studio album Ctrl.

Even though the R&B project has fans and critics singing its praises, SZA admitted she needed a little hallucinogenic help to overcome writer’s block.

In an interview with Billboard, the Top Dawg Entertainment vocalist spoke about taking mushrooms in 2015 as a way to break through the artistic barrier.

“I heard everything singing to me, from the grass and flowers to the little leaves,” said SZA. “I was tripped out, crying. It removed that fear barrier. The next day, I felt free –  I couldn’t fail.”

The 26-year-old artist also participated in a Billboard video segment titled “5 Things You Should Know About CTRL.”

“I’m finding my sound for the first time like defining a style in my diction, in my note choice,” she explained in the vid. “This is the first time I’m really experimenting with any sound, just taking a group of friends and making a bunch of vibes.”

SZA’s Ctrl features her TDE label mates Kendrick Lamar and Isaiah Rashad as well as Travis Scott and James Fauntleroy.

Production for the LP was provided by Pharrell Williams, Punch, Stix, Scum, ThankGod4Cody, Best Kept Secret, Carter Lang, Frank Dukes, Terrace Martin, Josef Leimberg, and more.

Vic Mensa Calls Out DJ Akademiks To His Face For Sensationalizing Chicago Violence (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Chicago rapper Vic Mensa was the most recent guest on Complex News’ online talk show Everyday Struggle.

Mensa did not bite his tongue while addressing the show’s co-host DJ Akademiks.

“I wanted to slap you in your face,” Vic said to Akademiks when he was asked about the media’s promotion of violence in Chicago Drill rappers’ music.

The Roc Nation artist did not stop his takedown of Ak with just those comments.

“People exactly like you sensationalized and made a following off of clowning situations that we go through in real life,” added Mensa. “I think n-ggas ain’t have no right. You specifically, you ain’t never have a right. Whatever made you feel like you had a space to have a perspective on our people dying on a daily basis?”

Vic later stated in response to an Akademiks video about the death of his childhood friend Tray 57, “To tell you the truth, I really think you’re a b-tch.”

Mensa then relayed to Akademiks he would probably get chased out of any mall in Chicago.

Ak replied by saying his content includes satire and advice about the violence in the city.

“You know what’s f-cked up about it and why I said the things I said to you is because were we to be in a room and there’s no cameras or security, you wouldn’t make no jokes,” said The Manuscript creator.

Mensa also suggested Ak behaves like a “parasitic” culture vulture.

In addition, he told DJ Akademiks, “It’s just kind of sick when it’s real people dying young. I’m at those funerals. I just left one of those funerals on Friday.”

This is not the first time DJ Akademiks has been called out by someone in the industry.

Earlier this month, Top Dawg Entertainment president Terrence “Punch” Henderson blasted the popular internet personality over his statements about TDE singer SZA.

MMG’s Wale also claimed on an episode of Everyday Struggle that DMV rap fans do not support Akademiks after Shy Glizzy dissed the New Jersey resident on his “Cut It (Freestyle).”

“I know every DJ but this p-ssy Akademiks,” rapped Glizzy.

Uh Oh! Tupac’s Estate Allegedly Compares ‘All Eyez On Me’ To Lifetime’s Aaliyah Biopic

(AllHipHop Rumors) I don’t know the last time I’ve seen folks so divided on a biopic….well maybe ‘Notorious’. Usually people either unanimously hate it or they love it. Folks are completely divided over the Tupac biopic, ‘All Eyez On Me’.

While it’s getting praised by people like The Game, Snoop Dogg, and MC Hammer, Jada Pinkett-Smith, 50 Cent, and the Tupac estate are none too pleased.

Apparently Tupac’s estate is not happy with the new ‘All Eyez on Me’ film, which highlights the late, great rapper’s life.

Insider sources claim that those involved in the estate have never promoted the film because allegedly, Afeni Shakur never wanted L.T. Hutton to produce it in the first place.

According to Fameolous, reports also claim that this version of the film’s script was like a version of Lifetime’s biopic about Aaliyah, which flopped with audiences and was never approved by the late singer’s family.

Via Fameolous,

“Tupac’s family cannot speak on the ‘All eyez on me’ or his estate due to contract so I will. Tupac family isn’t happy with the movie and before Tupac’s mother passed she wanted @johnsingleton to produce the film, not LT Hutton. John had a better script from the receipts I have. In particular, John was going to tell the untold story about Left Eye and Tupac relationship that a lot of people don’t know about. The story about John having a rape scene isn’t true! The film was rushed and they only spent around 48 days on the entire movie. You may have noticed Tupac’s estate who runs his Instagram account @2pac has yet to promote the movie?????? @50cent is not hating when he says the movie is not put together correctly…. he just knows the public has been played by this producer who put out the film despite many people disagreeing. As a director of movies and hit show series… 50cent respectfully has a duty to give you the real. The truth is most of the people promoting the movie 2Pac didn’t even like or was beefing with before his death. This version of the movie originally was suppose to be the “next Aaliyah movie” & we all know how that played out. John Singleton script is the real movie and the one Tupac’s mother wanted for her son legacy. I never met John or ever spoken to him I’m just giving y’all the real tea as always. Although Demetrius Shipp Jr was a great actor in this film… he wasn’t the first choice despite the lies that were told on The Breakfast Club by LT. In fact, In 2015 actor (@MarccRose ) who played Tupac at the end of the Compton movie was the person who they wanted to play in ‘All Eyez On Me’. (Those Receipts are available as well (text messages). However, Marc decided he didn’t want to do it. MarccRose walked away because John Singleton left and he found out Afeni Shakur was not on board. Jada Pickett Smith was never contacted by LT Hutton or handed the script to approve. Originally, Jada was in the talks of being consulted when John Singleton was there but before it could get there LT Hutton shut it down by firing John Singleton and going his own route. Now we all know if Tupac was alive Jada would have at least read it.”

Hmmmmmmmm What are your thoughts on the biopic and it’s surrounding controversy?
