(AllHipHop Features) Every December, various music outlets publish their individual “Best Albums Of The Year” rap-ups. AllHipHop.com provided a twist on that concept by curating a list of the “Best Reviewed Hip Hop Albums.”
Just like in 2014 and 2015, Metacritic Scores (MS) were used to determine the highest rated Hip Hop releases of 2016. Metacritic.com calculates the scores by giving weighted averages for reviews from leading print and online publications. Albums with an MS between 81-100 are labeled as receiving “universal acclaim.”
Of course, the pundits aren’t always right. Some of the most popular projects of ’16 didn’t make the cut. But this list does present a general consensus of the critics’ thoughts on the major Hip Hop projects around the time they hit the internet.
Do you agree with the choices? Do you think a particular album got snubbed? Check out AllHipHop’s “Best Reviewed Hip Hop Albums Of 2016″ and then share your own opinion in the comment section.

(AllHipHop News) There is a new Hip Hop talk show coming to the internet.
New York City rappers Uncle Murda and Maino are set to launch the Brooklyn Boys podcast.
Co-host Miss George will join the Yellow Tape (King Kong & Godzilla) collaborators.
“I’m excited about this new show, getting to be unfiltered with my brother Uncle Murda will give the public a peek into our conversations. A lot of people have podcasts but there’s nothing like Brooklyn Boys,” Maino tells AllHipHop.com.
Brooklyn Boys will begin airing on a soon-to-be-announced music network.
More information about the weekly program is expected to be revealed at the top of the year.

(AllHipHop Lifestyle) Jarrod “J-Rod” Tanner has been quietly behind the scenes helping make people laugh for years. Just in time for the holiday season, the creative entrepreneur has dropped his first book, “The Friend Zone Playbook.” The new author breaks down how to avoid the dreaded friend zone, which is often hard to get out. J-Rod takes it a step farther: he teaches how to avoid being placed inside of the zone, and even how to use the zone advantageously and more. The first-hand testimonials in “The Friend Zone Playbook” set this work of art itself apart from your average relationship book.
Hailing from Virginia, Jarrod “J-Rod” Tanner is a celebrated celebrity in the Hampton Roads area and was a VJ for many years WNSB’s Hot 91.1 radio at Norfolk State University. For more, go to facebook.com/janthonytanner and also read below for AllHipHop’s chat with this emerging multi-talent.
AllHipHop: What has the initial response been?
The feedback has been great! Because the book is so easy to read and it’s REAL information that they can use today, people have seem to gravitate to the content.
Who is the target market?
Honestly, I am looking to reach the person that is tired of settling with someone that they really don’t want. People don’t know how to get the attention of the person that they wish they were with. That’s the person that I want to read this book.
Do you feel like a relationship expert now?
I’m a PEOPLE expert. I want people to become the expert on THEIR relationships.
If you had one single bit of advice to give somebody trying to get out of the friend zone what would you offer?
First, make sure that you REALLY want to get out of the friend zone with that person. Every party that’s turnt ain’t LIT! Then be yourself while showing the person you’re interested in, the things that they want out of a person. Finally, be consistent!
Talk about your relationship with Jay Pharaoh?
Jay is my best friend and we’ve been working together since our days on radio back in VA. I stayed at his place for 3 weeks and wrote the entire book there. While he was at SNL, I was working away in silence. It’s great to have a friend who is not only successful but supportive. Shows you where you can go and how to act when you get there!
Any final words?
This is my first book. I’ve done music, radio, TV, hosting, comedy writing and many other things but this is the first project that I know without a shadow of a doubt will help people! Not only did I write the book but I also produced an interview series and directed a few comedy sketches that can all be found on my website www.playbookzone.com. I’m trying to help the Bae-less out there!
(AllHipHop Rumors) Troy Ave has had a tough year. He shot up a club and faces life in jail. He really didn’t pop off in the rap career even though he got major co-signage from 50 Cent and Hot 97. Well, his year is about to end off in a bad, bad way.
Apparently, there is a sex tape that will expose the rapper. AND the person is PUBLICLY EXTORTING HIM ON SOCIAL MEDIA. I hope the person knows that they are breaking a super big law JUST BY SAYING “HE GOTTA PAY.”
Could this be a joke or a PR stunt? I don’t know, but it sure is weird. The video doesn’t really show anything, thank god! I don’t think Troy Ave has any money! I am sure he’s strapped because of lawyer fees and the cost of living in New York City! Brooklyn is all gentrified with White folk running up the rent prices!
That’s all I can think about when I see grown men fighting over social media. I’m no fighter, but I know this. Anytime I wanted to fight somebody or somebody wanted to fight me, there was very little talking necessary.
How are these G’z and OG’z doing all this talking on social media? It just feels like hood theater to me! BUT WHO AM I? Nobody! The latest outbreak of talk comes from Taxstone and Wack 100, mostly known as The Game’s manager. Wack 100 is soon making a name for himself for his constant bickering with people on social media. Make no mistake about it, he’s as real as they come! That’s on APPLE! (All I got is my affiliation with Steve Jobs and Apple The Gang!)
Taxstone, all I know is the got Troy Ave hit up or created a threatening environment that got Troy Ave to pop off a gun so reckless that he may have thrown his life away. The rest of it is talking that people seem to love! And I see why! He popped off crazy in his latest podcast!
If anybody touches Young MA in Chicago, any Chicago rapper or any of their New York associates are gonna undergo a series of unfortunate events”
“I don’t give a f#ck about that ni99a that died in Chicago” (Talking about Tookah)
“I don’t respect Chicago gang culture…”
“Wack 100… that old b##ch”
“Game congratulations not posting a nude on Instagram for months, I really think he was a stripper… Game Kardashian.”
(AllHipHop News) Most people think of Roc-A-Fella or Bad Boy Records when it comes to Hip-Hop Empires, but there was one that preceded them by well over a decade.
Sugarhill Records got started in 1979 and paved the way for commercial rap with monster hits like “Rapper’s Delight” and Grandmaster Flash’s “White Lines.”
A new reality show will chronicle a new era of Sugar Hill and also determine who will lead the one-time music powerhouse. The “First Family of Hip Hop” will peer into the lives of Sugar Hill founded Sylvia Robinson’s son Leland Robinson, Sr. and the family. This family includes Darnell Robinson, Rhondo Robinson, Jr., Antonio Jordan, Lady Luck, Somaya Reece, Eseni Ellington, Kasin Robinson, Sasha Robinson and Leland Robinson, Jr., who are all looking to run the Sugar Hill Empire in the new era of Hip-Hop.
All of my kids have ideas for the future of Sugarhill,” Leland said in a press release, “but none of them have showed me that they can really run this empire.”
Lea Robinson boldly proclaims her stake, “Only one of us can be in charge. Sugarhill was started by a woman, it’s destined to be run by a woman again.”
First Family of Hip Hop premieres Sunday, January 15 at 9/8c.
According to info from sources close to Nicki Minaj that gave this juicy gossip to MediaTakeOut.com, the rapstress is now “casually dating” rap crooner Fetty Wap is what is being categorized as a “close relationship”.
According to one of the Pink Print star’s friends, “They’re working on projects together, and maybe more, but we’re not ready to call them “dating” or “in a relationship” yet,” the source clarifies. “Let’s see where [Fetty’s] head is at.”
Many have now been left to wonder, “Where does this leave Meek?”
Well, according to the rumor mill, the Philly underdog has been left out to dry by his former flame to be the 2017 “Trap Queen” in Fetty Wap’s good eye.
You can’t make this up. Well, actually you can. But still. This is cray. I refuse to believe Meek Mill would go out like that so fast unless something was critically wrong with Nicki Minaj.
(AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop and parenting is going hand in hand and Lloyd Banks has shared the first image of his bundle of joy.
The new father said, “The happiest time of my life! My bundle of joy! ❤️ Christina Ryann Lloyde Daddy’s little girl.”
The G-Unit capo revealed the birth earlier in the month, but took his time before sharing little Christina’s image. In the image, the baby is holding her daddy’s finger, which is attached to his tatted hand.

WHERE IS YOUR O.G., SB? (AllHipHop Rumors) Damn. This is where it goes to, huh? Cats threatening life all on social media with fake guns? The charges against Soulja Boy were dropped, not because he had a fancy-dancing lawyer! NO, the charges were dropped because he was beefing with Quavo of The Migos with fake firearms. Now, I am not one that hopes he’s waving a real gun and going to really kill people. But, I don’t G with faking either. I think dudes need to make happy music and be nerds.
