(AllHipHop News) Last year Rich Homie Quan filed a lawsuit against his label, Think It’s A Game Records, for $2 million in unpaid royalties.
The company then counter-sued Quan, claiming the Atlanta-based rapper failed to report money he acquired from unauthorized music he released while under contract with the label.
According to a press release, the two parties have settled their respective suits, but the details of the settlement have not been released.
The move now allows RHQ to focus on presenting new music to the public.
“I feel like LeBron James, I’m ready and looking forward to ending 2016 with a bang, my fans will not be disappointed,” states Quan.
TIG Records CEO Girvan “Fly” Henry adds, “I am going to keep it short and sweet. We are family! We started together and we are going to finish together. It’s been a long ride, but get ready for greatness. Think It’s A Game!!!”
Quan is also celebrating his hit single “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” being certified double platinum. He posted a photo of his platinum plaque to Instagram with the #TIG included in the caption.
As far as the settlement, Rich Homie Quan’s father/manager Corey Lamar shared his thoughts about the conclusion of the legal fight.”
“I feel relieved and I am glad that it came to an end,” says Lamar. “I never worried about us settling, because I knew my faith and trust in God would see us through.”
(AllHipHop News) Drake’s Views keep getting better as he extends his chart-topping run to 12 non-consecutive weeks on America’s Billboard 200.
The Canadian rapper now boasts the longest reign at number one since the Frozen soundtrack ruled for 13 weeks in 2014, and the most by a solo artist since Adele’s 21 scored a total of 24 weeks in 2011 and 2012.
Drake also becomes the first male musician to score 12 weeks in pole position since Billy Ray Cyrus’ Some Gave All dominated the Billboard 200 in 1992.
The continued popularity of Views prevents fellow Hip-Hop star Gucci Mane from landing at the top – his first post-prison release, Everybody Looking, debuts at two.
Twenty One Pilots’ Blurryface and Rihanna’s Anti remain at three and four, respectively, while the Epic AF compilation rises one place to five.

(AllHipHop News) Two brothers of Toya Wright were shot and killed an intersection in New Orleans earlier this morning (July 31).
According to the NOPD, police responded to reports of gunfire at an intersection in the city around midnight.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found two males suffering from gunshot wounds inside of a car on the street.
Both men have been identified as Toya Wright’s brothers, Josh and Rudy Johnson, who died from their injuries.
In addition to having a 17-year-old child name Reginae with Lil Wayne, Toya has starred in “Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars” and “Tiny and Toya” with T.I.’s wife.
When T.I. heard the need he took to his Instagram page to offer his condolences as well as a strong political message related to the murders.
“RIP bros. For us to really have an argument in the BLM movement, WE MUST show that Black Lives Matter to us!!!!! We all WE GOT!!!! My family’s condolences,” T.I. said.
(AllHipHop News) Rapper Iggy Azalea has run afoul of Uncle Sam in the United States, with another six-figure tax bill.
According to reports, Iggy failed to report almost $270,000 worth of earned income to the United States government in 2015.
It is not the first time the Australian rapper has been in trouble with the U.S. government over unpaid taxes.
In 2014, the IRS hit Iggy with a lien for not paying over $391,000 in back taxes.
This time, sources connect with the rapper blamed her unpaid tax bill of $269,980 on “an internal accounting error.”
The past few months have been bittersweet for Iggy, who split from her fiancé Nick Young in June. However, her spirits seemed to have picked up when her company Azalea Street announced a deal with NBCUniversal.
A source with Iggy said her latest issue with the IRS has “already been taken care of.”
(AllHipHop News) Drake’s OVO Fest is the latest large-scale event to be impacted by a growing panic over the Zika epidemic.
Dancehall artist Beenie Man was one of the acts supposed to hit the stage during the Toronto rap star’s 7th Annual OVO Fest.
This year’s annual concerts feature performances by Drake, Future, Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa and at the Air Canada Centre.
Beenie Man was supposed to headline last night’s concert with Machele Montano but he couldn’t make the concert because of he has contracted the deadly Zika virus.
Beenie posted a pictures of himself sprawled out on a bed and presumably feeling sick from the virus, which has spread to over 20 countries and has infected over at least 1.5 million people worldwide.
The Zika virus causes microcephaly, which impacts newborn babies, who are born with abnormally small heads and other short and long developmental issues.
Sean Paul popped up on the stage with Machele Montano during OVO Fest, which is also taking place during the city’s annual Caribana celebration.
Back in 2004 Crime Mob and their infectious hit “Knuck If You Buck” permeated Hip Hop radio. The record is still a southern Hip Hop classic, and it still gets much play to this day.
Since the Hip Hop group broke up in the past because of business issues, many have wondered is reconciliation and a reunion even possible.
Diamond recently stopped by to chat with the ‘Don’t Be Scared’ podcast where she revealed whether or not fans would see a Crime Mob reunion anytime soon.
“It’s hard when it comes to know the difference between business and personal. We started to work on a project last year but I didn’t agree with a.) the way things were going with production. You have to know that you have to evolve. Money was issued or something and I found out late that I’d been cut out of the money. To me once you get attached to this lifestyle ain’t no going back, so to take from me it really hurts my feelings. I think they wanted us to perform together at Birthday Bash, I was like ‘hell no!’ To me if we’re supposed to be family and we’re cool then y’all would’ve never cut me out of the money. Most people forget it’s 90% business and 10% entertainment,” said Diamond.
Well I guess fans will have to dust off that ‘Crime Mob’ album because reunions are highly unlikely when there are issues over money.
Following news that he’ll be releasing a new app (as the new ambassador of Atari) titled Block Wars in a recent interview, The Game has now released an album that soundtracks the new game.
Block Wars features production from only four producers- SAP, Jelly Roll, Goodguydez and Bongo – and one guest appearance from Lorine Chia.
The official “Block Wars” mobile game will be released later this summer, but for now, stream the official album for the game below.
DJ Khaled just hosted a listening party for his newest album Major Key in New York City.
Khaled’s latest album dropped on July 29 and the Snapchat star has been running around the country, to promote the release, which features Drake, Gucci Mane, Nicki Minaj, Jay Z, Future, Nas, Meghan Trainor and others.
One of those stops was New York, where heavyweights from Epic Records like L.A. Reid and Sylvia Rhone came out to toast the man of the hour.
Even though Khaled is managed by Jay Z’s Roc Nation, his Major Key album is not on Tidal yet and is an exclusive available only on Apple at the moment.

(AllHipHop News) As streaming becomes the new way of listening to music, Tidal and Apple Music have became two companies that clashed recently for more subscribers.
From Rihanna’s ANTI to Chance the Rapper’s Coloring Book, the rap game is now getting flooded with projects that require people to subscribe to a service (and possibly) choose one service to rock with.
Now, Kanye West is trying to end the beef between the two companies.
Earlier today, the rap star went to Twitter to call out Apple, claiming they need to “Give Jay his Check.”
According to a reports, Apple has been postponing making a deal with Tidal, in order to possibly get a fair price for the streaming service.
However, there has not been any recent official statements from either company about making the swift move.
Kanye continued the rant by calling out some of the execs and signed artists of Apple, stating that they should all meet up to talk about the situation.
Although Kanye’s effort to bring everyone together is getting a lot of attention, it seems like the competition between the two companies is getting stiffer.
Not only did artists under Kanye’s mentoring ink a deal with Apple (like Chance The Rapper), Travi$ Scott has also announced that he’ll be releasing his project under Apple’s streaming service.
Will Apple Music acquire Tidal in the near future?
Only time can truly tell.
But for now, most artists this year have had to pick and choose a specific music streaming service in order to drop their album.
Kanye chose Tidal to release his critically acclaimed project The Life Of Pablo.
Outside of Kanye, the list includes Chance, Travi$, Future, Vic Mensa, Beyonce, Maxwell, and many others.
Infamously from Detroit, I’m new to New York and I’ve only lived here a few months. As a “new” New Yorker, I find myself trying to do New York stuff. I mastered the art of walking fast, I visit old hip-hop spots, and I say “Dead a*s, B” a lot now. Another thing that I find myself doing a lot lately is listening to New York Hip-Hop.
Lately, as I walk the streets of New York, Apple Music constantly blaring in my ears. I have been listening to a lot of DJ Premier beats which somehow manages to lead me to Nas. I saw him rock the 2016 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival and was moved by the fact that he came out to an instrumental version of “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” Plus, Nas’ music sounds incredible on the subway, his music IS the sound of the New York. I am beginning to appreciate him a lot more, all over again.
Here are Five Reasons Why Nas Should Be Your New Favorite Rapper, Again.
His Lyrics are as Sharp as Ever. On the new song, “Nas Album Done,” from DJ Khaled’s new Major Key album, Nas shines with lines like, “We get government aid/Spend it at they stores, puttin’ they kids through college/We need balance, so we can lease and own deeds in our projects/So I’m askin’ Gs to go in their pockets/The racial economic inequality, let’s try to solve it.” In a time when African Americans are moving their money to Black banks, and searching for economic empowerment, Nas echoes the call for “Gs” with means to invest in their communities.
He’s Aging Well. At 42, Nas has aged incredibly well. Always a handsome guy with brooding eyes, his signature mole and (formerly chipped tooth) smile made him a sex symbol in rap before it was popular to be. While other rappers-with the help of drugs and alcohol-seem to be aging at a fast rate, Nas looks healthy which only makes him seem even more powerful.
He Supports Higher Education. When Harvard University chose to make a real investment in the archiving, education, and study of hip-hop music and culture, they turned to Nas. The architect of one of the most important albums in hip-hop, Illmatic, his place in this culture has been even further solidified and memorialized at the most elite institution in the United States. The Nasir Jones Hip Hop Fellowship is the most elite study opportunity in the culture.
He’s (also) a Business, Man. For years, Jay Z was seen as the emcee business archetype. However, in the last 5 years, Nas has quietly been making amazing business moves. Queensbridge Venture Partners has investments in over 40 tech startups. He also has strategic relationships with Bevel, Fila and Hennessey. He has, as you would expect, quietly and humbly amassed wealth and prestige that has reinvigorated and reinvented his place in hip-hop.
He’s a Visual Visionary. When accepting an award honoring activism and art, Yara Shahidi of ABC’s Black-ish, who is also a younger cousin of Nas, spoke about why representation of people of color in the media was so important, “Media weaves an influential narrative,” Shahidi says, “that is often the touchpoint for a person’s first interaction with a new concept or idea.” Importantly, Nas is the Executive Producer of a new film, The Land, as well as a new series on Netflix, The Get Down (and he wrote all the raps.) In addition, his label Mass Appeal is working on two animated shows including Think B.I.G., loosely based on the lyrics of The Notorious B.I.G. As the Black Americans embark on a new fight for civil rights, the visual images and narratives that are shown of us are even more important.
What do you think of the evolution of Nasir Jones? He’s always been in your top five, but are his new ventures impressive enough to make him your favorite rapper all over again?
Look like Kodak Black just gave the state of Georgia three of his summers, as rumors swell that he’s been sentenced to three years in jail for a number of crimes. The rumor started when an online website/mag stated that dude was doing down for a few. However, it would seem that this is false journalism. Even though Kodak has been incarcerated for a few weeks, his status is “pending” and nothing could be independently verified to counter that. If you look at his Twitter, you can feel the sorrow and regret in his life. Poor guy.
Maybe not, since lil buddy has has a long list of infractions ranging from gun charges to weed to false imprisonment charges.
Even though Rihanna’s spent most of her summer on tour for her latest multi-platinum ANTI, the singer managed to kill two birds with one stone by making a new set of visuals while also personally showing love to her fans.
The singer’s latest video “Goodnight Gotham” is very brief, a little bit over a minute actually.
However, Rihanna managed to capture the happiness of her fans after jumping into a crowd of them and said fans surrounding her like a live mob.
After being completely surrounded, she’s soon picked up to see hundreds (maybe thousands) of people following her move.
There’s a lot of weight on the ladies these days to show and prove. With the mega success of Nicki Minaj, the days of being able to get over by looking pretty and walking well in heels are over. ESPECIALLY when you come from a city like Philly which is known for many things, but being cute isn’t one of them. Which is why new-comer Lee Mazin prefers to stay on point like a decimal. Taking music cues from the legends like MC Lyte and business cues from anyone worth a damn, Lee is making plans for the long haul. The Sisterhood Of Hip-Hop star took a break from promoting her new album Vibes to sit with AHH’s Mr. Mecc about everything from The Hip-Hop Honors snafus to the need for lyrical MC’s to be seen. Check the technique.
(AllHipHop News) Philadelphia MC Dice Raw recently caught up with AllHipHop.com to discuss his provocative Hip-Hop musical The Last Jimmy, which will wind down this weekend in Philadelphia.
Tonight and tomorrow’s performances will end a six-day run of the play, which has been drawing a crowd during The Democratic National Convention.
em>The Last Jimmy was written by Phil Brown of Salt World Inc. and inspired by Dr. Michelle Alexander’s book The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness and shed’s light artistically, on the disturbing trend of black mass incarceration in the United States.
Dice Raw said that self analysis is an important part of the process in addressing the current socioeconomic conditions faced, especially with the current tension between minorities and law enforcement due to the recent rash of police shootings.
“The black man we’re such a target, we have to start waking up ourselves and asking ourselves why are we being such targets?” Dice explained to AllHipHop.com.
“Why are we the low hanging fruit? Why are we being constantly harassed? Why are we being systematically put and compartmentalized in different parts of society that don’t actually contribute anything to society?” the rapper asked inquisitively.
Dice said that although politicians such as Bill Clinton and Bernie Sanders played a role in a lot of the laws responsible for black mass incarceration today their sympathy should not be expected.
“We have people who do things because their career is on the line and I can’t expect for a rich white politician to be able to sympathize with me or sympathize with someone who looks like me,” Dice Raw told AllHipHop.com.
When speaking of Kendrick Lamar’s powerful performance at the Grammy’s addressing the same issue and allegedly utilizing a lot of the same imagery as The Last Jimmy, Dice said he recognized some similarities that may have been due to the production, but will leave that up to the fans to decide.
The six-day run of The Last Jimmy will close with performances at 2p.m. on July 30 and 31 at the Proscenium Theatre at The Drake.
If you were looking for a Waka Flocka & Gucci Mane reunion anytime soon, don’t count on it as Waka and Guwop are still on bad terms.
Noticeably missing from Gucci’s ‘Gucci Mane & Friends’ concert lineup was Waka Flocka. His absence caused fans to demand answers about what’s really going on.
Waka hasn’t been shy about expressing that him and Gucci aren’t close like they were in the past, and he opened up to fans about their non-existent relationship in an interview with Reddit.
When a fan asked Waka why he wasn’t at the ‘Gucci Mane & Friends’ concert, Waka replied by saying,
“Because I’m not a friend.”
Waka also avoided answering another fan’s question about whether he had communicated with Gucci at all since his release from prison.
Waka Flocka even touched on his relationship with Gucci or lack thereof on his recent ‘Lebron Flocka James 4’ mixtape when he expresses that people want to know what’s going on with him and Gucci, to which he answers by saying,
“Nothing.”
Perhaps Waka was one of the people Gucci was referring to on “All My Children.” If so, Gucci may be open to reconciliation as he rapped,
“Making rockstars out of trap boys..And if we never talk again, still got your back boy.”
(AllHipHop News) Kanye West has surprised his fans by unexpectedly releasing the music video to his new track “Wolves.”
The six-minute long black and white video was made in conjunction with fashion house Balmain, and released on Kanye’s YouTube page on Friday.
The 38-year-old appears in the video, alongside wife Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing, and a host of models, including Alessandra Ambrosio, Jourdan Dunn and Joan Smalls.
The track, which features Sia and Vic Mensa, is the latest release from his Life of Pablo album.
Rousteing has been sharing shots from the secret collaboration on Instagram since Wednesday, with the caption “Music meets fashion.”
However, he only began sharing clips from the music video on Friday once Kanye had officially released it.
In the promo, Kim is featured crying alongside her husband and the array of supermodels, as the camera zooms in on their upset faces.
At one point, models caress the mother-of-two’s face, rubbing her cheek and mouth as she stares into the camera. Kanye then appears behind his wife, with tears also running down his face.
The music video, directed by Steven Klein, ends with the couple walking outside a building to the waiting paparazzi, appearing to model similar outfits to the ones the stars wore to the Met Gala in New York City in May.
Kanye first performed “Wolves” during Saturday Night Live’s 40th anniversary TV special back in February, and made headlines as he laid on the ground while he rapped.
“Iconic moment!!! Kanye SNL,” Kim gushed on social media following his performance.
Chance the Rapper has started to gain a reputation for interrupting performances to rap and leave, and last night, the Chicago rapper had to show up for his hometown’s major festival, Lollapalooza.
Last night, the Coloring Book rapper showed up in the middle of Future’s performance at the music festival. With the crowd going extremely wild, both Chance and the Atlanta rapper performed the hit single “No Problem.”
Although Future is not on “No Problem”, the Codeine Crazy rapper earned a credit for supplying rhymes on Chance’s critically acclaimed album Coloring Book.
(AllHipHop News) A copyright lawsuit against Ghostface Killah and Sony saw new life today, as the 2nd Circuit Court Of Appeals gave composer Jack Urbont another shot at proving his claims.
Urbont is the composer of the Iron Man theme for 60’s show The Marvel Super Heroes.
The origin of the lawsuit stems from two tracks from Ghostface’s classic 2000 album Supreme Clientele that samples the staple theme song.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the copyright lawsuit has been ongoing for five years with Sony initially coming out on top, as U.S. District Court judge Naomi Reice Buchwald determined that Urbont’s work constituted a “work made for hire.”
This “work for hire” classification was the central point of the ongoing legal controversy, as it claimed that Urbont does not own the rights to his work and can not claim the copyright to the song.
Under this classification Marvel would have the claim of copyright, and according to Buchwald the theme was “developed to Marvel’s specifications and for Marvel’s approval.”
Ultimately the 2nd Circuit Court Of Appeals found that the audiovisual work owned by Marvel would be the at the center of the copyright claim, since the theme was not released as an independent audio recording prior to Ghostface’s usage.
Check out Ghostface’s songs using the sample and the original recording below.
