Is This The Reason Chris Brown Got Fired From His Vegas Residency Gig?

Chris Brown aka Mr. Can’t Get Right recently lost a pretty big gig! According to TMZ, the singer lost his residency gig at the Drai’s nightclub for refusing to apologize to the venue’s owner after calling the club a racist venue.

Breezy went in on the venue on Instagram prompting the venue to give him the ultimatum of apologizing or leaving the venue completely.

Brown is not one to say sorry too often, so needless to say the apology never came.

To make matters worse, the venue felt like Chris’ continued reckless behavior and his public issues with his management team brought negative attention to the venue, and they wished to cut all ties.

Are you on Chris’ side with this one? Has anyone attended Drai’s and had a bad experience?

Rapper Troy Ave Sprung From Prison On $500K Bail

(AllHipHop News) Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave has officially been released from a New York City prison on $500,000 bail, after his mother put up her Brooklyn home as collateral for his release.

Troy Ave has been charged with multiple charges, the most serious being attempted murder, for his role in a backstage shooting during a concert headlined by T.I. last in May.

The Brooklyn rapper, born Roland Collins, and three other people were injured on May 25, after a fist fight in a backstage green room at Irving Plaza in Manhattan.

Troy Ave’s bodyguard Ronald “Banga” McPhatter, 30, died at a local hospital, after he was struck in the stomach.

Police are still investigating to find shooter responsible for McPhatter’s murder.

As part of the conditions of his release, Troy Ave must wear an ankle monitor, is forbidden to leave New York City and cannot go near any performance venues while he is out on bail.

According to The New York Daily News, Assistant District Attorney Joshua Steinglass said Troy Ave could still face murder charges as police finish their investigation.

Police recovered three guns, including the one used in the shooting, in the van that transported Troy Ave to the hospital.

“What is clear is that the investigation from the outset has been hampered by the defendant who not only fired and removed the weapon from the crime scene, he refused to help in any way [to identify] who killed McPhatter,” Steinglass told reporters.

It’s rather ironic, since Troy Ave and his defense team have called upon witnesses to come forward to help the rap star’s legal defense.

Nevertheless, in a previous interview, Troy Ave’s attorney Scott Leemon said the shocking video of Troy Ave shooting inside of the venue only revealed a portion of what happened.

“He didn’t shoot himself, he didn’t shoot his lifelong friend and bodyguard, Ronald McPhatter,” Scott Leemon told AllHipHop.com. “Ronald died a hero and should be remembered that way. The snippet of the video released by NYPD doesn’t tell the whole story.”

Funkmaster Flex Talks Drake Vs Kendrick Lamar & Quentin Miller Reference Tracks (VIDEO/POLL)

(AllHipHop News) Last summer during the highly publicized feud between Drake and Meek Mill, Hot 97 personality Funkmaster Flex inserted himself in the middle of the rivalry.

Funk Flex was the person that released the Quentin Miller reference tracks which helped fuel the backlash directed at Drake over ghostwriting allegations. The New York based DJ later dissed the YMCMB representative on the radio as well.

In a recent interview, Flex spoke about the comparisons between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. After first suggesting the two Grammy winning rappers were the equivalent of Tone Lōc vs Rakim, Flex went on to explain his thoughts on the matter.

“I like Kendrick. I like Drake. But I guess Kendrick just gets a different type of respect. I didn’t say it. Obama said it,” stated Flex. “It’s just different, but everyone likes it. It’s different. Nothing wrong with that though.”

The conversation then turned to ghostwriting. Flex admitted he thinks Drake is great at making music, but the Bronx native still diminishes the chart topper on his personal list of best lyricists.

“It’s okay to lend a couple of words for a hook. It’s okay to tweak a verse when your man is sitting there with you,” added Flex. “You want to know why I lashed out so hard? Because he disappointed me.”

He went on, “I didn’t believe it. I saw the kid freestyle. I won’t take nothing away from him, the successful part…  my argument is Top 5 in success. If you have a J. Cole and a Kendrick that exists, then it just shifts a little bit. That’s all.”

Schoolboy Q Talks Making “Depressed Rap”, Sales Predictions For ‘Blank Face LP’ Are In

(AllHipHop News) Schoolboy Q is back once again with the third installment of his video series. The latest edition features the Blank Face LP song “Black THougHts.”

Q also spoke with Rolling Stone about his Blank Face LP. The Los Angeles native revealed to the publication that he created “depressed rap” during the making of the original records for his most recent project.

“I switched the whole album up as I got into myself and I got comfortable again,” said Schoolboy. “I told myself, stop crying like a little b-tch and do what you love to do.”

He added, “It was like a confession thing. I didn’t want people to hear me like that; that depression doesn’t last. A few months, and then it was over. Y’all are never hearing them records.”

Blank Face LP is predicted to sell between 50,000 to 55,000 copies in its first week with 63,000 to 70,000 in sales plus streaming units.

The Roxanne Shante Movie Has Lil Mama Connection!

The Roxanne Shante movie is underway. As you know, we broke the news that this was even a thing a few months ago. Now, we have learned a bit more. Lil Mama’s little brother is going to star into the movie “Roxanne Roxanne,” which is about the young rap mistress from back in the day. Roxanne Shante was the rapper that shook up the world after U.T.F.O. dropped their song “Roxanne Roxanne.”

Roxanne Shante wasn’t even a part of the deal, but she went rogue and – with Marley Marl – started a whole thing. You have to google “The Roxanne Wars” to really understand (Click here for that). But, to this day, I don’t believe a song has solicited as many responses as “Roxanne Roxanne” did back in the day.

ANYWAY, the point of this whole point is to say, we have discovered that Lil Mama’s brother

Arn Star

is playing the role of MC Shan of the Juice Crew. Those of a certain age, know that Shan was the man of the Juice Crew, which was one of the dopest rap collectives ever. Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, Craig G, Masta Ace and others were also members of the Juice Crew. Recognize and realize.

Shout out to Forrest Whitaker for pushing this story to the front!

Blink-182 Ends Drake’s 9 Week Run Topping Album Chart

(AllHipHop News) Drake’s Views is no longer the #1 album in the country. The fourth studio LP from Canadian’s most successful rap artist has been topped by a rock band from the West Coast.

Blink-182’s California totaled 186,000 equivalent album units in its first week of release. Drake’s Views fell to second place with 117,000 units. Maxwell’s new project, blackSUMMERS’night, lands at #3 with 59,000 units.

Views had spent the last 9 weeks in the pole position of the Billboard 200. The OVO leader is only behind MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice on the list of rappers to score the most weeks in the top spot on the album chart.

Plus, Drizzy tied Michael Jackson for the record of most simultaneous weeks at #1 on the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 by a male performer.

Tory Lanez Remixes “Controlla” and “I Got The Keys”

Is the beef between Tory Lanez and Drake over? Although the two have been trading subliminal blows through singles, Lanez confirmed in an interview late June that his beef with the OVO star is more competition-based than on a personal level. However, it seems like he’s taking on some music made by Drake.

Yesterday, Tory Lanez released remixes of “Controlla”, the Caribbean-inspired single off of Drake’s latest LP, Views. The artist also released a remix of DJ Khaled’s single “I Got the Keys” featuring Future and Jay-Z.

Wendy Williams Loses Sponsorship After HBCU/NAACP Comments

(AllHipHop News) Wendy Williams has reportedly lost a sponsorship following her recent controversial statements on HBCUs and the NAACP.

According to reports, Chevrolet severed ties with the show after the TV personality made negative comments on the two predominately black organizations during the “Hot Topic” segment of “The Wendy Williams Show.”

“I would be really offended if there was a school that was known as a historically White college. We have historically Black colleges,” Wendy Williams said.

“What if there was a national organization for white people only? There’s the NAACP. By the way, what is the ‘C’ for? Colored? Are we still using colored?,” Williams continued.

What makes the situation a bit worse is that she said it after Jesse Williams’ controversial speech during the BET Awards.

Ironically, the CEO of ACE Media Corp, whose company managed Wendy’s sponsorship, was a graduate from Howard University.

The deal with Chevrolet was first made in April, which included promotion for the 2016 Chevy Malibu, according to the report.

Williams have been getting a lot of criticism for her controversial comments and some fans  have been making attempts to boycott her show.

RZA Rolling With Hillary Clinton In Upcoming Presidential Election

(AllHipHop News) Wu-Tang’s frontman RZA has revealed he will be voting for Hillary Clinton in the upcoming Presidential elections.

RZA told The Daily Beast that America has a great image around the world. During the interview, he said that the treatment he received on the road when traveling internationally, was directly related to who the President
was at the time.

“I’ve been traveling the world from [Bill] Clinton to [George W.] Bush to Barack Obama, right? And when I was going around the world during Clinton, the party was good, people came in and paid for the tickets, I wasn’t mad,
room service was good, the restaurant treatment was good,” RZA said. “When I traveled the world during Bush, people was hating on me. I had to wait for the waiter, you know what I mean?”

RZA said the world’s outlook on America changed for the better after President Obama was elected into office in 2008.

RZA believes electing Hillary Clinton would have a similar effect.

“So when we put in a black man as president, we kind of fulfilled what the principles of our country are: to look at us as that guiding light,” RZA concluded.

RZA is currently preparing a new collaborative album with Paul Banks as Banks and Steelz, titled Anything But Words which is slated for an August 26th release.

Angie Stone P##### At VH1’s Snub Of Her Hip-Hop Group

“They’re honoring ‘female’ Hip Hop legends,” an angry Angie Stone told the AJC. “We definitely should have been included in the celebration this year for sure!”

This year, VH1’s “Hip Hop Honors” pays tribute to the ladies in Hip-Hop. Missy Elliott, Foxy Brown, Lil Kim, Trina, Salt-n-Pepa, Queen Latifah and a host of others artists will be honored during the event, which takes place tomorrow (July 11) at the David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City.
