Drakeo The Ruler’s Wrongful Death Suit Bogged Down In Legal Dispute Over Culpability

The University of Southern California asked to be removed from a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of Drakeo the Ruler, who was fatally stabbed in 2021.

USC filed a motion to dismiss, denying any responsibility for Drakeo’s death on August 29.

Judge Kerry Bensinger is scheduled to consider the motion at a hearing on November 18.

“The backstage area where [Drakeo] was attacked was not a part of the Coliseum property, the Sports Arena property or any property leased or controlled by USC,” the university argued, according to local outlets in Los Angeles.

Drakeo, whose real name was Darrell Caldwell, was stabbed to death backstage at the Once Upon a Time in L.A. festival in 2021.

The event was held at the BMO Stadium, formerly known as Banc of California Stadium, in Exposition Park.

The stadium is near the Los Angeles Coliseum, the home of the USC Trojans.

“USC was not involved in the production of the music festival itself,” USC’s lawyers wrote. “It was not involved in selecting the performers, setting the performance schedule or determining how many all-access passes any artist would be allocated.”

Drakeo’s family sued Live Nation, USC and others for not providing enough security at the event. His murder remains unsolved.

“It was a major tragedy on how this happened and the lack of security at the venue,” the mother of the late rapper’s son Caiden told AllHipHop in 2022. “No one has any answers for his son. I’m sitting here constantly trying to talk to my son and let him know that everything is going to be ok even though you won’t see your dad again.”

A judge ruled against Live Nation’s bid to dismiss the lawsuit in 2023.

The judge said, “The performing artists’ safety was a concern for defendants and foreseeable to defendants.”

Ice Spice’s Manager Jumps In Cleotrapa Drama With Clout Chasing Claims

Ice Spice’s manager James Rosemond Jr. criticized her former friend Cleotrapa amid beef over tour issues on Tuesday (September 3). Rosemond defended his artist after Cleotrapa bashed Ice Spice for alleged mistreatment.

“This is what happens when an artist’s team dont manage their artists expectations when an opportunity comes in front of them,” Rosemond wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). “If you not prepared for an opportunity and your team isn’t properly advancing then that’s on them. Not on us offering the opportunity. You have to invest in yourself, aka pay expenses if need be for the opportunity. It’s corny. Someone gives you an opportunity and this is the thanks the person gets. Openers dont have same things headliners has.”

He continued, “The Entitlement and ego are crazy. An artist (and their team) needs to know what to do when these opportunities come their way. They need to know how to leverage it to advance their career. But some artists just don’t know how to come out with HITS so they crash out and go on rants.”

Cleotrapa claimed she was told her expenses would be covered when Ice Spice invited the lesser-known rapper on tour. Cleotrapa said she was forced to pay for her hotel rooms and dress in bathrooms instead of dressing rooms, among other grievances. She mentioned one incident in which Ice Spice’s team refused to buy her a chicken salad despite Cleotrapa’s hunger.

Ice Spice insisted she was “genuinely trying to help” Cleotrapa. Rosemond blamed Cleotrapa’s team for not explaining the realities of the touring situation to her.

“My team spoke to the artist’s mngr this morning & the artist’s mngr said he blames himself becuz he pushed his client to stay becuz it was a great opportunity…but he knows his client is 100% wrong,” Rosemond wrote. “The mngr realized his client didn’t have the financial backin to be on the tour.”

Rosemond accused Cleotrapa of clout chasing. He believed Cleotrapa’s complaints were misguided.

“What rubs me the wrong way is we live in TikTok / social media economy where people know how to go viral for clout and they go public with something that can be handle from a private phone call to speak on differences,” he wrote. “I’m big on fairness & unity, peace & love. Best way to live to sleep at night. But we have to be grateful of opportunities that we get. Sometimes the experience is NOT what we expected & that’s OK. You learn from it & move forward. The public bashing just means therapy is needed.”

What Doc Will Irv Gotti Do Without DMX’s Family?

Damn, Irv.

Recently, Irv Gotti, the former A&R, beatmaker, and mogul, announced that he is working on a documentary about the late, great DMX. The iconic rapper passed away a few years ago, and his absence has been deeply felt ever since.

For those who may not know, Irv Gotti was once an A&R at Def Jam Records, where he played a pivotal role in DMX’s early success. There’s a reason why Ja Rule and DMX have a similar sound—Gotti was instrumental in signing Ja Rule and guiding his rise to fame. While Ja Rule wasn’t necessarily a copycat, the similarities between the two artists were undeniable.

Now, Irv Gotti has expressed his desire to create a documentary about DMX. But here’s the twist: DMX’s family has said, “No.” In fact, they even wrote a letter to make their stance clear.

In light of recent speculation, the family of Earl Simmons, professionally known as Hip-Hop rap artist DMX, wish to confirm that we are not collaborating with Irv Gotti, nor have we agreed to partner with him on any content related to Earl, including a biopic.

DMX is an iconic figure in the music industry, and his life and legacy hold great significance. As we consider potential projects related to his story, we commit to ensuring they are treated with the utmost respect and integrity.

We appreciate the continued support and interest from fans and the public. We will share any official announcements about future projects through our official channels.
– The Simmons Family

So, what do you think? Can Irv Gotti still make this documentary? Legally, it’s unclear. He might have some footage that the family doesn’t own, or he could interview people who knew DMX to piece together a new story. If I had to guess, I’d say the documentary would likely focus on DMX’s early days as he ascended to superstardom. But, without the family and his ex-wife?

On a personal note, I think Irv Gotti should focus on his health. He recently suffered a stroke, and he’s not even 60 yet. He should take a moment to appreciate the fact that he’s still alive and take care of himself. However, knowing Gotti’s relentless hustle, I’m sure he’ll keep pushing forward—especially after 50 Cent mocked his stroke.

For now, I’m out.

Hot Boys Reunion Moves Ahead For Lil Wayne’s Annual NOLA Festival

The Hot Boys will finally reunite at a festival in their hometown of New Orleans. Live Nation and Lil Wayne announced his reunion with Juvenile, B.G. and Turk for the 2024 Lil WeezyAna Fest, which will be held at the Smoothie King Center on November 2.

“Lil Wayne embodies the spirit of New Orleans, and Lil WeezyAna Fest is a stellar showcase of the city’s dynamic and flourishing music scene,” Live Nation Urban’s Brandon Pankey said. “Live Nation Urban celebrates this amazing event and is proud to continue to partner and cultivate the growth of this festival for years to come.”

Fans thought the Hot Boys were reuniting for the “30 Years of Cash Money” celebration at the 2024 Essence Festival in July. Lil Wayne, Juvenile and B.G. performed at the event. Turk was noticeably absent.

Lil Wayne did a solo set instead of joining Juvenile and B.G. at Essence Fest. Rumors suggested Lil Wayne refused to participate in a reunion without Turk.

Turk’s exclusion stemmed from his lingering issues with B.G. and Cash Money Records co-founder Birdman. B.G. criticized Turk in a post-show livestream.

“It’s only one n#### ain’t in this b####,” B.G. said on Instagram Live. “He brought that on himself. N#### did a bunch of hoe s###.”

Juvenile appeared to be a driving force in keeping Hot Boys reunion hopes alive. He stayed on good terms with B.G. and Turk throughout their beef.

Less than two weeks before the Lil WeezyAna Fest announcement, Turk extended an olive branch to B.G.

“I’m just believing that everything gon’ work itself out,” Turk said in an interview with B High. “It’s over with on my end. I don’t have no issue, no problem. And hope that [B.G.] sees this.”

Lil Wayne’s Lil WeezyAna Fest returns to New Orleans after a one-year hiatus. The festival has typically been held at Champions Square outside the Caesars Superdome. This year’s edition moves to the nearby Smoothie King Center, the home of the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans.

Lil Nas X shared his hilarious take on the struggles of being a gay rapper, complaining about a lack of homosexual vixens in the Hip-Hop community.

He took to social media on Sunday night (September 1), joking about his gripe. “Being a gay rapper is hard,” he began. According to Lil Nas, the gay Hip-Hop community is lacking personalities like Lori Harvey and the Clermont Twins.

“Straight n##### got all the baddies,” he added. “We need more known homosexual vixens! where are our clermont twins, where is OUR lori harvey, we deserve a brittany renner too!”

Meanwhile, in other Lil Nas X news, the polarizing artist recently shared some advice about starting over, urging people to take the next step to improve their lives. He posted a video message on social media encouraging fans to keep going.

“Starting over is embarrassing and you just have to do it anyway,” he began. “People are going to tell you how good things used to be and how great you were and how the past was so much better than right now.”

He continued, saying you must start wherever you are and stand on your dreams and ideas. “Stop trying to cling on to what was so that you can become that next version of you,” he added. “I haven’t even had my next big things yet, but I know it’s coming. It can feel embarrassing having all these eyes on you while you start something new. You have to let them watch. Enjoy the f###### show.”

50 Cent Explains His Surprising Definition Of “Gangster Lifestyle”

50 Cent may have risen to fame with the image of a gangsta rapper with the bullet holes to prove it, but his definition of a gangster lifestyle has evolved over the years.

During a recent appearance on Million Dollaz Worth of Game, 50 Cent explained why he doesn’t strive to be a tough guy and redefined the meaning of gangster.

“Tough is never what you said,” he told Gille and Wallo. “It’s always what you did. So, we know tough n#####, we know people who do this s### but it usually leads to them living a tough life.”

According to the G-Unit mogul, “tough” people get trapped in a cycle that ends with having to prove themselves in prison.

“It starts a cycle of tough s###,” he added. “And no matter how tough their act is, if they do some brazen s###, they getting ready to go to the home of the boldest.”

50 Cent then explained what being a gangster means to him, the freedom to live your life without restrictions.

“Tough is not my goal man,” he continued. “I don’t care about that s###. You know what’s Gangster to me, is to live the way you want to live. To not have to answer to people to change things.”

On Monday (September 2,) NLE shared a highlight reel from his set at The Bank, which included snippets from a speech he delivered explaining his decision to perform.

Cardi B Vows To “Stop Playing” & Release Sophomore Album

Cardi B fans have waited over six years for the follow-up to 2018’s Invasion of Privacy, and it appears the wait for a new album is nearly over.

The Grammy Award-winning rapper has been teasing the project for over a year. At one point, Cardi threatened not to drop this year, although she later retracted her statement.

Despite filing for divorce from estranged husband Offset, a new baby on the way and complications resulting from a freak accident, Cardi B has promised to release the project this year.

On Monday (September), Cardi B reacted to a post from Chat Data revealing she sold over 500,000 total album units in the U.S. this year alone. Boosted by the healthy figures, Cardi B vowed that playtime is over, and she’s plowing ahead with the project.

“Album still sellin like good quality p####,” she responded. “OKAY OKAY let me stop playing and drop this second album.”

https://twitter.com/chartdata/status/1830717537891332537

Earlier this year, Cardi B admitted she was “nervous” but “excited” to drop the album, revealing, “It’s so different from what everyone is expecting.”

Then, in April, she vowed to scrap a 2024 release following a high-profile spat with a fan.

“Anyway, no album this year I don’t care,” she insisted. “I’m relaxing this year. Dropping these features that I already committed to and then traveling and enjoying my summer.”

However, she swiftly deleted the tweet, and her publicist confirmed to Rolling Stone that the album is coming in 2024.

“I take my music so f###### seriously that that’s why I don’t put it out,” she told the magazine. “Because if it’s not perfect to my ear, if every f###### word doesn’t sound like it’s pronounced right, if the beat is overpowering the words or the words is overpowering the beat, I don’t want to put it out.”

Ice Spice Slams “Entitled” Former Friend, Cleotrapa Responds With Ozempic Allegations

Ice Spice has responded to Cleotrapa’s scathing rant, accusing her former friend of crashing out because she can’t use her famous bestie anymore.

On Monday evening (September 2), Cleo called out Ice Spice in a series of TikToks totaling over 45 minutes. She accused Ice Spice of mistreating her while on tour and claiming she was only invited as damage control after another former friend exposed the “Munch” rapper.

The rant went viral, and Cleo trended in the top spot on X (Twitter), sparking a response from Ice Spice. She hopped on a Twitter Spaces talk to set the record straight.

According to the Bronx-bred rapper, Cleo left out some key details.

“Crashing out is sad you guys,” she began. “The scary part of fame honestly is the moment that somebody feels like they can no longer use your platform or like they’re not getting exactly what they want out of a situation the way that they want it … That’s when they decide to crash out every single time. I’m noticing a pattern.”

Ice Spice Claims She Was Trying To Help Cleotrapa

Ice Spice claimed the situation saddened her, but she invited Cleo on tour because “I genuinely was trying to help her.” She explained that she only reached out at the last minute because she was just given an extra tour bus and had the space.

“You got less than 10,000 listeners and I’m sharing my stage with you,” she added. “And you feeling so entitled.”

Ice Spice also addressed Cleo’s claim that her tour managers refused to buy her a chicken salad because she wasn’t included in the budget.

“But that’s what the f### I get for trying to be a good person,” she asserted. “We was having fun. So for you to try to sit here and complain about a chicken salad? You never came to me talking about a chicken salad, what are you really talking about right now.”

She then bashed Cleo for eating so much while dining out that the server was stunned. “B####, you not going to tell the people how we was at an Italian restaurant and you ate so much f###### food, you f###### vacuum, that the server was like, ‘Where did the food go?’” she said.

Ice Spice then turned to Cleotrapa’s gripe over security’s refusal to carry her luggage.

“You thinking that my people’s that work for me is supposed to work for you too. That’s so crazy to me,” she said, claiming that Cleo barged into the bathroom “while I’m butt ass naked trying to press me about some bags that you got to carry.”

Moreover, Ice Spice questioned why Cleotrapa would be friends with her for two years if she’s is “soulless and dark?”

“I didn’t even know you got off the bus,” she insisted. “And you gone send me an essay with an intro, body and a conclusion and you want me to try to like analyze this s### and figure out how I’m wrong when all I did was share my stage with you when I ain’t even have to do that.”

Cleotrapa Claims Ice Spice Scared Of Cardi B

Meanwhile, Cleotrapa caught wind of Ice Spice’s response and accused her of fat shaming. She also alleged Ice Spice was taking Ozempic despite recent denials.

“Imagine being called big by someone that was just big,” Cleo said, referencing Ice Spice’s story about the restaurant. “I’m going to bed bro ozempic got yall gassed & fatphobic now? BET.”

Dishing more dirt, Cleo also claimed Ice Spice hid out in the tour bus because she thought Cardi B sent goons for her.

“who tf told you to start with that lady anyways? NOBODY,” she wrote. “You picked with her now you scared.”

Fellow former friend Baby Storme also responded to the drama. “I tried to warn you & you just threatened to beat me up,” she replied, quote-tweeting a previous warning from Cleo. “Nevertheless, I’m sorry that happened to you.”

Cleo responded, claiming she only said that because she was mad at Ice Spice.” You really could’ve dm’d me from the jump,” she replied. “f you was on some real b#### s### word but thank you.”

Ma$e Addresses Ozempic Rumors: The Truth About Dramatic Weight Loss

Ma$e had tongues wagging after debuting a new look and the results of his weight-loss journey on the season 5 premiere of his It Is What It Is podcast.

On Monday (September 1), Cam’ron and Ma$e returned to the airwaves for another run of their hit show. Ma$e surprised everyone, opening the episode with a ferocious freestyle over Common‘s “The Corner.”

“That’s how you feeling this morning?,” Cam asked his co-host after the freestyle. “My n#### came in blazing this morning.”

Cam’ron then highlighted Ma$e’s new look, praising his new haircut and 70-pound weight loss. He went on to question how Ma$e managed to shift the pounds, quizzing him over his methods.

“You took the needle,” Cam teasing about the popular weight loss drug Ozempic. However, after joking, “that’s the hate I needed,” Ma$e explained that he trimmed down the old-fashioned way, adopting a healthy diet and exercise.

“I signed up with this coach named Ricky Moore, that’s a professional bodybuilder, and he just put me on the alkaline diet,” Mase explained. “I’m only eating fruit, vegetables, and water for now.”

After complimenting his weight loss, Cam’ron also raved about Ma$e’s freestyle.

“Nahhhhh!!! MURDER HOME!!!” he wrote, posting a clip on Instagram. “Now the price just went up.”

It’s unclear if the freestyle will land on Cam’s recent viral freestyle over D’Angelo’s “Cruisin,’” but the duo is sitting on plenty of material. Earlier this year, Cam revealed Ma$e crafted “some real, real, real good songs,” for a joint project but has yet to approve it.

“Me and Ma$e got an album. He said we can’t put it out!,” Cam’ron said during an Instagram Live in April. “We did six-seven songs. We do the songs and then he say, ‘No.’”

Future Confirms “Mixtape Pluto” Album With New “Lil Demon” Snippet

Future has finally confirmed the arrival of his Mixtape Pluto album after months of teasing the project.  Fans have been anticipating the project since May, when Future hinted at a return to his legendary mixtape run of the mid-2010s. It appears fans won’t have long to wait.

On Monday (September 2), Future confirmed Mixtape Pluto “bout to drop.” He also shared pre-order links alongside a hint at the album’s artwork. Shortly after confirming the project, Future also dropped off a snippet and a visualizer for a new track “Lil Demon.”

Adding to the excitement, Travis Scott hinted at another Future collab, tweeting “MIXTAPE PLUTO,” shortly after the announcement. Future and Travis Scott’s “TELEKINESIS” collaborator, SZA, is also rumored to make an appearance on the upcoming album, as is Playboi Carti.

In July, producer Southside confirmed he was cooking up something in the studio with Future. “I’m working on Mixtape Pluto with Future right now,” Southside told XXL. “I’ve been working a lot with Roddy Ricch, too. It’s a new sound, like a whole new vibe. I’m ready to get these albums out… get this music out and start doing shows.”

Future’s mixtape run recently sparked fierce debate on social media as users compared it to Lil Wayne’s 2006-2013 run. Swishahouse rap legend Mike Jones favored Lil Wayne, highlighting what they did after their “epic” feature runs.

“Both of the runs was good,” Mike Jones wrote in part. “But who Wayne put on after his epic run? & who future put on after his epic run? That shows real legacy as the game has to keep going and growing #YoungMoney.”

Cleotrapa Torches Ice Spice In Bombshell Rant Exposing Former Friend Over Tour Antics

Ice Spice is being called out by her former friend Cleotrapa in a scathing rant over alleged mistreatment on tour.

On Monday evening (September 2), the rapper and influencer slammed the “Munch” hitmaker in a five-part TikTok video series. Cleo claims Ice Spice only invited her on tour to rebuild her image after another former friend exposed Spice for speaking badly about people including Cleo and Nicki Minaj.

https://twitter.com/iamcleotrapa/status/1829593614823162075

Nonetheless, Cleo began to see Ice Spice as “calculated” and claimed that Ice Spice “uses me for her rollouts” and other promo. “Cuz we never chilled on some like chill hit bro,” she explained. “It was always in the blogs the next day and the song is dropping too.”

Cleotrapa said she is only shedding light on what happened during the tour because fans deserve to know who Ice Spice really is behind the star persona.

Cleo became emotional and began tearing up as she explained that Ice Spice was “intimidated” by her confidence. She said that she can get past misunderstandings with friends but “You actually have one time to show me that you are jealous, intimidated, untrustworthy, fake, disloyal, ingenuine, manipulative and calculated.”

According to Cleo, Ice Spice only gave her a day to prepare for the tour but assured her that they would be staying together and all her expenses would be covered. Cleo wasn’t on the official tour bill and said Ice Spice didn’t promote the flyer she made. Additionally, Cleo claims she would perform before the concert’s scheduled start time.

Cleotrapa Claims “Everything Changed” After She Confronted Ice Spice

Cleo said the first few days of the tour were “cute” but “things go left” after she confronted Ice Spice about an incident where security refused to carry her bags.

After that, Cleotrapa claims she was mistreated by Ice Spice and her team and recalled multiple tour mishaps. Production would stick her in bathrooms claiming they didn’t have a dressing room for her and she was forced to come out of pocket for her hotel rooms until Ice Spice’s hairdresser let her stay with her. She claimed production told her she wasn’t in the budget and refused to pay for a chicken salad.

On another occasion, she discovered a bag she had left in Ice Spice’s dressing room was placed outside. She later discovered that $700 had been spent on her credit card.

In another incident, Cleo seemingly confirmed Ice Spice’s rumored relationship with her producer Riot.

The revelations came about after fans noticed Cleopatra unfollowed Ice Spice on Instagram and accused her of ditching her friend as soon as she got the tour bag.

However, Cleo revealed she was not paid, stating, “I was played, betrayed & unpaid.” She explained, “I never had a problem with not being paid btw I knew. I just want everyone to stop thinking I was paid cause I wasn’t.”

Ari Lennox Trends On Social Media After Sharing Same-Sex Dating Story

Ari Lennox has opened up about her recent same-sex dating experiment and why it didn’t work out, subsequently causing a frenzy on social media.

Dreamville’s first lady of R&B has always been candid with her fans, but her latest revelation about dipping her toes into the same-sex dating pool has sparked quite the conversation.

During a recent question and answer session on a livestream shared on social media, Lennox shared an intimate anecdote about her brief and ultimately uncomfortable experience dating a woman earlier this year. Lennox first divulged the details of her feminine fling when asked by a fan if she would consider dating women again.

“Quasimoto says, ‘Would you still give dating a woman a shot? No thirsty?’ Yes, thirsty—no,” Lennox responded. “I tried for one second getting to know this person this year, and then it was weird.”

She went on to admit that the situation made her feel unsure of herself, leading her to quickly back away from the experience.

“And then I just felt like insecure I was like, ‘Nah, I’m good. Let me just stick to what I know,'” she said.

She also addressed the ongoing speculation and pressure from some fans about her sexuality.

“Why are y’all always trying to make Ari a lesbian? she joked, flipping the script on the persistent rumors. “Because Ari has made herself very lesbian. Ari has made herself lesbian.”

Lennox dove deeper into how challenging she found the whole situation, remarking on what she feels she learned about women during the process of testing the waters.

“I feel like women, it’s hard,” she said. “I don’t understand them. I don’t even understand myself.”

https://twitter.com/livebitez/status/1830617636113092745

Once the audio of Lennox’s livestream hit platforms like Twitter (X), users immediately began trolling the “Shae Butter Baby” singer and making light of the situation she described as confusing.

“Women don’t even understand women we are cooked,” one user wrote in a reply in the thread of the video clip. “Ari Lennox live had me rolling,” a user wrote in a tweet reacting to the stream. Another user added, “B###hes don’t even understand women I’m weak.”

The light-hearted tone of the stream shifted, though, when Lennox recounted a bizarre encounter with a follower who seemed to reduce her to just her biological attributes.

“‘Why you not somewhere procreating,’ what does that mean?,” Lennox vented. “What is this b#######? Is that all I am to you? A v#####, a womb, a giver of life? That is just, it’s just out of hand.”

Lennox is certainly gaining a high level of publicity as of late due to the unpredictable and uncut nature of her live streams. Last month, she went viral after vowing to do a number of strange things in order to generate funds to pay off her debt to the IRS.

Big Sean Addresses Rumors He Dissed Lil Yachty On “Better Me Than You”

Big Sean is clearing up any confusion over an alleged Lil Yachty diss on his new album Better Me Than You

Sean appeared to take a shot at Yachty on the Pressure Edition bonus track “Wire Me.”

“I mean, I might have to even throw ’em a lil’ boat,” he raps. “I’m seein’ n##### gettin’ drowned out ’cause they can’t switch up the flow/Just give ’em a year or two, and they gettin’ exposed.”

However, Big Sean insists he wasn’t dissing Lil Yachty and even teased a possible appearance on the album. He cleared the air during a recent interview with Complex

“I wasn’t talking about [Lil Yachty],” Big Sean explained. “Yachty is on the album as well. On “Yes,” he’s doing adlibs with me. I’m glad you said that, no I’m not taking a jab at Yachty. It was like a whole double entendre. [If I was referencing him] that would have been a whole other entendre.

Sean continued, “He was in the studio with me while I was making the album. He actually has a verse on [“Yes”] too. I might throw it on there later.”

After dropping Better Me Than You, Big Sean told fans, “Keep expecting new music,” and it appears a Lil Yachty collab could be on the way. He revealed that several songs didn’t make the project due to clearance issues, although he expects to release them shortly.

Fans can also expect to hear songs with Lil Wayne, Nas and longtime partner, Jhene Aiko. Although Big Sean released “Fighting Fires” on SoundCloud because he couldn’t clear it in time, the track could still make the album.

Tyrese is on a roll, and everyone is buzzing about his latest endeavors. Last week, he dropped a double album titled Beautiful Pain alongside his new movie, “1992.” So, what’s next?

Well, what’s next is another album. But before we dive into that, let’s address the elephant in the room. A couple of weeks ago, AllHipHop conducted an epic interview with Tyrese, and it was quite the spectacle. Tyrese went all out, expressing his opinions on the current state of rap, and it was pretty controversial. He made it sound like there’s nothing noteworthy in today’s Hip-Hop scene and even claimed that his alter ego Black Ty is better than the rappers out right now.

Is he wrong?

So, what’s a guy like Tyrese to do? He went ahead and dropped another album—the 1992 soundtrack. He released it digitally over the Labor Day weekend. And after giving it a listen, I have to say, it’s really, really good! The rappers truly rap, and the singers genuinely sing! But as you know, Tyrese can do it all—sing, rap, and act!

When you listen to this album, you’re getting a slice of old-school Los Angeles Hip-Hop, but with fresh, contemporary artists too. The album features talents like D-Smoke, Musiq Soulchild, The Game, Skyzoo, Snoop Dogg, E-40, and many others. Some of the tracks on the album are also from Beautiful Pain.

By the way, Tyrese had this to say, “You think I would really come on AllHipHop and talk ALL that sh#t over where things are in Hip-Hop and not come with some monsters like that?”

Here is the tracklist:

1. Put That in Motion – Jxhn Dxe feat. Snoop Dogg & E-40 (3:54)
2. 211 – Nmbrnd (3:00)
3. Jesus Piece – Skyzoo feat. YG & The Game (5:25)
4. Paws – Black-Ty feat. Snoop Dogg & Dpgc (5:35)

Lil Troy Update: “Wanna Be A Baller” Rapper “Ready To Get Back To Being Superman”

Lil Troy reportedly suffered a major heart attack over the weekend, leaving his fans wondering if he was going to pull through.

Fellow Houston rapper Willie D of the Geto Boys claimed he was “fighting for his life” but didn’t provide any further details, making the situation that much more mysterious. But according to a text conversation between legendary New York City promoter Van Silk and Lil Troy provided to AllHipHop, he’s officially on the mend.

“I’m good feeling good and ready to get back to being Superman,” he wrote. “Feeling bless[ed]. Getting to start a new life of [eating] right and going to the doctor and taking my meds.”

In a direct text to AllHipHop, Troy added, “I’m good now. Feeling blessed. I’m going to start speaking about taking our meds and going to the doctor and heart attacks.”

Lil Troy and Van Silk spoke to AllHipHop in December 2021 after Troy survived a fiery explosion on Interstate 10 near Houston involving his own 18-wheeler. Troy, owner of Birklett Trucking Company, was returning from Arkansas when one of his trucks caught fire.

“I was on freeway about 10, 15 minutes,” he said at the time. “I started seeing smoke coming up in the cab while I was driving and I’m like, ‘This is not good. No, smoke ain’t supposed to get in the cab.’ I started trying to ease my way over to the exit, so I could try to get off the freeway so nobody else get hurt or nothing like that.

“And the closer I get to the exit while trying to get off, I started seeing smoke out the hood coming up and flames started coming up by the hood. And I finally got the truck to stop. I jumped out, grabbed the fire extinguisher to tried to put it out. That wouldn’t work, so I just backed up from it and just let it go.”

Watching the scene unfold, Lil Troy—55 at the time—thought about how much life he had left to live.

“I was trying to find a way to get off the freeway first and not hit another car or no car hit me and thinking about my family,” he said. “Thinking about, this is not the way I’m supposed to go out like, ‘No, God got a better plan for me. I know this is ain’t it. Stay calm, stay cool.’ I had to get out the situation.”

This marks at least the second time he’s survived the “Wanna Be A Baller” curse. The song, which featured Fat Pat, Lil’ Will, Big T, H.A.W.K. and Yungstar, is Troy’s biggest hit to date, but nearly everyone who appeared on it has died. Fat Pat was murdered in 1998, just months before the song was released, while H.A.W.K. (who replaced Fat Pat in the “Wanna Be A Baller” video) was fatally shot eight years later. Then Lil’ Will, Troy’s cousin, died in a car accident in 2016 and Big T, who provided the song’s hook, died in 2018 of a suspected heart attack.

But it appears Lil Troy’s higher power still has a “better plan” for him. AllHipHop wishes him a speedy recovery.

Drake Accused Of Stealing “No Face” Bars By Indie Artist Who Fans Think Is TikTok Troll

Drake is being accused of stealing bars from an up-and-coming artist, however, fans on social media, believe the allegations could be a part of a larger social media scam.

Drake leaked his “No Face” collaboration featuring Playboi Carti via his Finsta account last month. Upon its release, the track immediately began trending and gaining traction after fans appeared to identify multiple nest eggs and hints of a second round in the rap beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar.

The song would end up being released to streaming platforms without Playboi Carti‘s verse, but that development alone wouldn’t end up being the biggest controversy in the track’s release arc thus far. According to a rising rapper, whose stage name is Sixpathsss, Drizzy stole the bars prominent on the bridged hook of the song from a track he released nearly eight months prior.

In a viral post on TikTok, Sixpathsss stitched, a brief video allegedly showing proof Drake stole his bars word for word for his new banger. The bars in question are as follows.

“I don’t get sleepy off no melatonin/My therapist put in a thirty-day notice/’Cause I keep on talkin’ ’bout beefin’ and business and money and women, there’s no diagnosis,” Drake raps on the track.

In a post AllHipHop shared on Instagram, users sounded off on Drake, asserting the proof was plain as day based on the video.

“Lmfao who tf don’t know this. Ask Soulja Boii maneeee,” another user added, referencing the viral Soulja Boy Breakfast Club meme from when Big Draco alleged Drake copied his whole flow.

However, a number of users in the comments, and on other social media platforms went on to debunk the video as fake and the result of AI manipulation.

“Man has 3000 followers but Drake knows about him and steals his bars,” one user wrote in the comment section of the post.

One user commented that Sixpathsss used AI to manipulate the dates of the posts he used as receipts of social media and actually recorded the song after Drake dropped his track. This also isn’t the first time this user in particular has accused a major mainstream artist of stealing his lyrics. Earlier this year the rapper appeared to call out Trippie Redd for the same sort of thievery.

Roland Martin Slams Tyrese Over “Asian Hate Crime Bill” Rant: “Learn To Fact-Check”

Roland Martin is calling out Tyrese over remarks he made about the so-called Asian Hate Crime Bill.

The R&B singer recently ranted about the bill during an Instagram Live Chat with renowned civil rights attorney Ben Crump. He criticized President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for “prioritizing the Asian Hate Crime Bill,” over Black victims of racially motivated crimes.

However, journalist and political commentator Roland Martin responded to Tyrese amid the online backlash. In a video posted on Instagram Sunday (September 1), Martin repeatedly called Tyrese out for lying and insisted he was “100 percent wrong.” He explained that while the bill referenced attacks on Asian Americans, it is not limited to any one group of people.

“Tyrese, you do not know what you’re talking about,” Martin began. “That video where you’re talking about an anti-Asian crime bill, that is a lie. Please learn to fact-check before you start talking.”

Roland Martin Responds To Tyrese’s Complaints Over Bills Specific To Black People

He clarified, “It does not only apply to Asian Americans. It applies to everybody.” Martin also addressed another of Tyrese’s points about legal protection for Black Americans.

“There have been three hate crimes bills specific to African Americans. The first one, you’re dealing with the Civil Rights Act in ‘64, okay. Then you also had the hate crimes bill that dealt with when Black churches were being burned,” he added. “And then of course you had the lynching bill that was also signed.”

Roland Martin tagged Tyrese in the caption and called on him and other celebrities to get their facts straight before making public statements.

In his rant, Tyrese claimed Biden and Harris “signed an Asian Hate Crime Bill, which makes it beyond illegal to ever purposely or maliciously do anything to anybody in the Asian community.”

He added, “There is a crime bill that was signed into law that protects Asians at all costs. Where is that same f###### law to be enacted for Black and Brown people?”

The 8th Street: Fortifying You Against Unwanted Surveillance With a Hidden Camera Detector

As technology has evolved over the decades, it has become increasingly difficult to find any semblance of privacy in the modern world. With social media, the internet, and phones everywhere, it’s difficult enough to try and live with any kind of anonymity. But what makes it all even harder are the numerous headline-grabbing crimes lately, which have seen people installing hidden cameras to deliberately watch you when you least expect it.

Video Voyeurism Incident

For instance, a Slidell man has been charged with eleven counts of Video Voyeurism for placing a hidden camera inside a guest bathroom at his home. In late May, the Slidell Police Department began investigating 31-year-old Jonathan Bethancourt after a babysitter located a hidden camera disguised in a smoke detector inside of a bathroom in Bethancourt’s home.

The victim took possession of the hidden camera and brought it to the Slidell Police Department. Investigators executed a search warrant at Bethancourt’s home and located an additional hidden camera and other incriminating evidence.

The investigation is still ongoing, and additional charges are expected, as investigators are still combing through substantial amounts of video evidence and have identified additional victims. At this point in the investigation, the evidence indicates that Bethancourt had cameras located at his home in Slidell and a condominium in Orange Beach, Alabama.
