FRESH HEAT: China Mac ft. Dave East – "Going Down"

Chinatown NYC based rapper China Mac starts off 2016 with “Going Down” featuring Mass Appeal and Harlem bred rapper Dave East. It’s breath of freshly polluted New York street air – but we like it. The two MC’s opened up on the Layzee Dee produced track and it brings up back to a great era of Hip-Hop. For real though, is there any rapper that’s hotter than Dave East out East? A side note, if you do your research China Mac has been around for a while and has ties to one of Hip-Hop’s favorite Asian-American rappers Jin.

Back in the day, China Mac was well known for having done a 10 year prison bid for shooting one of Jin’s associates in a restaurant, then he fled and was detained by the police in Seattle. Check out his interview with VladTV a few years ago below the song. The homie is as street as it gets when it comes to that beef.

A TMZ cameraman told Kanye that he needed to lower the prices of his clothes as he wants to wear them, but they are too expensive. Kanye replied saying,

“We are going to to get them lowered…next season.”

Has Iggy Azalea Found An Ally In Charlamagne Tha God?

While many in the Hip Hop community are not fans of Iggy Azalea, it seems that she’s found an ally in Charlamagne Tha God. Charlamagne expressed that he would like people to stop trashing Iggy for being a fake wannabe rapper. Charlamagne also seems to feel that just because Iggy dates a black man doesn’t mean she has to stand up for black culture. Previously Charlamagne has said he also hates the “real Hip Hop” comments because people from different regions that produce different sounds all have their opinions on what is “real Hip Hop,” with them often times downplaying other’s music. Charlamagne expressed that Iggy is actually a pop artist that happens to express herself through rap. He doesn’t believe she’s trying to hijack black culture. What are your thoughts? How would you categorize Iggy?

It’s been stabbed; it’s been torn,” she said of her “thick skin.”

As the conversation continued Lil Mama opened up about learning to turn her once vulnerable spirit into an inherent asset. “I’ve been hurt because I was so vulnerable, she said, “But then I had to learn, ‘Yo, this is a business!’ People will say whatever they got to say to get that next dollar.” Soon the “Lip Gloss” spitter would compare the music business to the streets. Freddie Gibbs: I Don't Get Recognition For My Skills Like J. Cole & Kendrick Lamar (AUDIO)

(AllHipHop News) Freddie Gibbs is one of the most critically acclaimed emcees of this era. His studio albums – ESGN, Piñata, and Shadow of a Doubt – have been scored as some of the best efforts in the genre over the last five years. But does the Gary, Indiana native get passed over too often in the conversations about the best emcees in the game at the moment?

During an extensive interview with NPR’s Microphone Check, Gibbs expressed his irritation that he is not mentioned being at the same skill level as platinum selling artists such as Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole.

“I don’t feel like I get the recognition for being as innovative that I am musically, you know what I mean? I don’t think that I get put up there with the J. Coles and the Kendrick Lamars and guys of that nature when I definitely think that I’m rapping on their level and definitely higher,” said Gibbs.

However, the “Extradite” rapper believes his independent grind will eventually pay off with a bigger fan base. Gibbs relayed to hosts Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Frannie Kelley that having creative control is a great tool to achieve success in his career.

“It’s just a matter of just me sticking to my guns and doing it the way I want to do it. And I’m at that point now where I can put out music when I want to, shoot a video when I want to, just basically have total control, so it’s like, I can sway more people in my direction than ever now,” added Gibbs. “But I still don’t think that I get the credit that I deserve, like I said, for being an innovator.”

Vince Staples & Lord Jamar Bicker Online Over Comments About 1990's Hip Hop

(AllHipHop News) It seems there are still rap fans that feel a certain way about Vince Staples’ comments on 1990’s Hip Hop. During an interview last October, Staples stated he did not understand why the decade was considered the “Golden Era” of the culture. The California spitter caught some backlash for the statements months ago, but the conversation heated up again after Lord Jamar shared his opinion on the matter.

Jamar did an interview with VladTV where the Brand Nubian member took issue with Staples saying the 90’s didn’t even have a Kanye West. Jamar’s critique mostly centered around the idea of people wanting to promote what he called a “euro-based” (sales, money) criteria for greatness rather than an “afro-based” (cultural impact, quality) criteria.

A Twitter user supported Jamar’s point of view by sending Staples a picture of a few top stars from the 90’s and writing, “Pay attention to what [Lord Jamar] has to say.” The Def Jam recording artist replied with a simple “lmao.”

Jamar then responded to the Twitter exchange by asking Staples, “What’s funny bruh? People just correcting your statement by giving numerous examples.”

Staples sent a message back that read, “I’m laughing cause I never thought I’d hear a n*gga ever say listen to what Lord Jamar has to say.”
