TODAY’S RUMORS!

WHERE AM I?

I might be off on these rumors for a few days, people. Forgive me. I am still celebrating. I am requesting that people ALL OVER THE WORLD email me scans of your news papers. I want to see what is being said all over. I don’t even need to know the language… email them to al*************@***il.com. I’d appreciate Hi-Res, but if not, send anyway!

Also, I posted Barack’s acceptance speech. Read it.

Watch ‘em kiss the ring of Barack Obama – RIGHT HERE.

DIPSET REUNION? REALLY?

I got some intel… I heard something that is definitely going to interest the fans of the pink and the purp. I am hearing that Dipset A&R Duke the God and chief Cam’ron had a secret meeting to reveal a plan for a Dipset Reunion. This meeting reportedly took place at HBO and the gentlemen may be trying to get the reunion on HB0. I am hearing that they will reunite at the Apollo in Harlem and announce a 2009 album that features all the Dipset crew. That is more interesting is one of the potential producers is well aware of the inner strife and asked Cam’ron about it. I heard that he said he and Jim Jones have patched things up. True? I’m not sure that I believe it, but the details of the situation seem to have some reality to it. I don’t know about HBO stuff though.

LUPE WAS NOT IMPRESSED AT THE OBAMA SPEECH…

In an interview with Big Tigger, Lupe Fiasco told it how he saw it. I’m baffled, but check out the quote:

Of the acceptance speech, Lupe said, “It didn’t move me at all. What moved me was when they showed Jesse Jackson– he was balling. Jesse Jackson’s tears of affirmation showed me that this is the time for Black people to stand up for change.”

Am I missing some new offshoot of Black radicalism or something?

Click here for the speech that didn’t impress Lupe.

LUPE TALKS CHI-TOWN

There is a recent concert on Lupe, where he seems to be really proud of Barack Obama. So, I am not sure what’s going on here. Chi-Town stand up! Lupe goes in on stopping the violence…I thought he didn’t curse?

Peeped at lupend.

ACTOR-TURNED-RAPPER

Do you remember “The Parkers?” That show was very successful. Well, one of the actors is trying to parlay their success into a rap career. I know some of you recall Countess Vaughn rapping, but its not about her. This is about the dude named Ken Lawson, top right. Lawson is about to rap under the new moniker – KEN L. Noah Sife just wrapped production on Ken L.’s first rap music video. Well he’s busting on the rap scene with a new song, and video that will probably be done next week some time. Ken’s new song is called “Can’t Hardly Wait”.

JENNIFER HUDSON FEELS BAD…

I got this off livesteez. I feel terrible for Jennifer Hudson.

In the wake of laying her beloved family members to rest, Jennifer Hudson blames herself for last month’s tragic murders of her mother, brother and nephew in her native Chicago, Illinois. The singer-actress feels she should have convinced her family to move out of the troubled neighborhood. Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, and brother, Jason, were found shot dead at their home on October 24th. Julian King, her seven-year-old nephew, was also killed – his body was found in an abandoned car three days later. And the Oscar-winning Dreamgirls star now feels wracked with guilt over the deaths, claiming she should have done more to move them away from the family home in Chicago’s notorious South Side to live with her in Los Angeles, according to reports. “Jennifer grew up on Chicago’s South Side, and knew all about the violence. She was able to get out, and wanted to take her mama with her, but Darnell said no,” says family friend Sharita Dickey. Hudson’s second cousin, adds, “Jennifer is hurting and asking why this happened. She’s asking why she didn’t do more to persuade Darnell to move away. It was Darnell’s decision to stay here in Chicago. This was her home and her family were here,” says Reverend Krista Alston.

BISHOP LAMONT AND THE GAME GOING AT IT

Bishop Lamont and The Game are not cool. Here are a few notes.

* Bishop said that The Game is bi-polar.

*He said that Game pulled him on stage in a show of solidarity then later dissed him.

*Bishop constantly called Game “a girl,” “her,” and “babygirl.”

*He also said that The Game has a diss record that’s dropping overseas.

*He said that Dr. Dre isn’t thinking about Game and he’ll never get near him.

*There is a lot of talk about ghostwriter this, 50 Cent that..whew..

Click here to listen. I can’t even get into, because it’s too much to type. Just click here.

CONDI RICE HEARTS BARACK OBAMA

DID PRODIGY ALMOST DIE IN JAIL?

I heard a few rumors yesterday. I heard that Prodigy of Mobb Deep almost died in jail. That’s a rumor that actually started with my big homey Nore. I’m not sure where Nore got that info from, but I am hearing that’s not true. That being untrue also makes this next one false. If you hear that Nore died in a horrible drug overdose, that would be inaccurate as well.

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

I heard that Jay-Z is running for mayor of New York. I knew Obama was an inspiration, but dag. I doubt there is any truth to this. He’s already the King of NY…mayor seems a step down.

R.I.P. to Jheryl Busby. He was a former executive at Motown. He was a mere 59 years old. He was partly responsible for the success of Jody Watley, The Jets, Bobby Brown, Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle and Klymaxx. He had recently signed Tweet and Carl Thomas.

Janet has completely canceled her world tour. SMH.

I LOVE that Mother Africa can share in this worldwide joy in Obama’s victory. Now, we have a lot to show and even more to prove. This MEANS something.

I am sure you saw this, but my dude Mos Def is wanted in Vegas for that alleged assault of a photographer I talked about in August.

Young Jeezy was riding in ATL celebrating all night in his blue Lambo  playing “My President.” Jeezy a wild dude.

Do yall remember K.J.? Former basketball star Kevin Johnson is the new major of Sacramento, CA – another first for an African American. You may recall him running the court for the Phoenix Suns, but now he runs Sac Town.Diddy had a party last night that was defintely Black Tie. The only this is, a gang of people came with their chic suits on with the jeans. No dice. I heard VIP was jammed but still people saw Jay-Z, Mary, Dallas Austin, Busta, Missy and Ne-Yo and his man servant assistant. I heard Jay was so far in the cut, nobody saw him.

FREEKEY ZEEKEY TALKS ABOUT GIRL BEEF

They took all the other videos down, so I guess this one is approved.

OBAMA MOVES BUSTA RHYMES!!!!

Sure he cussed a lot and sure Obama wouldn’t sanction this language – BUT you have to love it. LMAO! This was at Q-Tips Election Celebration Party, Busta Rhymes gave an Obama Victory Speech, which mostly consisted of dissing Republicans and then performed a free show.

WIG PUSHED BACK OR PR PUSH?

50 Cent’s Before I Self-Destruct has reportedly been pushed back a week. Now it hits on Dec 16, not Dec. 9. I think that was an excuse for me to name drop the album and release date. Shout out to Mr. Cent. Maybe I will post more people that have expressed interest in being his CD insert girl.

ILLSEED PRESENTS THIS WEEK WITH JASIRI X – EPISODE 9

This is GREAT….

Racial harmony is on the horizon…Much love to my dude Jasiri X! This is a great video!

A TRANNY TALKS

A Tranny from Hollywood speaks on Prop 7 and 8.

I don’t know why I posted that foolishness.

MAINO EXPLAINS IN DETAIL HOW HE BEAT UP LIL CEASE

This ain’t new but its cool to hear Maino get so graphic.

COREY GUNZ MILKIN’ A-MILLI!

Is it me or does he seem like a light-skinned Lil Wayne with no dreds and a bigger forehead? Seriously, he needed to be on the original because he put heads to bed with that.

WE’RE STILL CELEBRATING!

Shouts go out to Taiu from the BX!

FOR THE KIDSThe future  of this mighty nation will have a very different view of the possibilities and the notion of race…and soon gender.

LADY DRAMA GETS BACK INTO THE GROVE…

For every motivator there are a handful more haters… and in this case…Ralph Nader Calls Obama an Uncle Tom!

Green party rep Ralph Nader was a little butt hurt about losing to Barack Obama and took the low blow by name calling! Its funny to me how John McCain could take the high road but a candidate who only polled 1% couldn’t have any good sportsmanship – smh! (illseed note: Nader needs to shut his pie hole. You can’t use the term Uncle Tom.)

Enough Politiking… Wendys Show in Trouble! Charlemagne gets fired and MORE!

Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news but my all time fav Wendy Williams is having a bit of trouble keeping her highly syndicated show afloat at WBLS. Word on the street is her longtime co host Charlemagne has been fired along with head of production Trev Hollywood. I hear that the Fall cleaning has much to do with lower ratings which have caused budget cuts.

In my opinion I think it may be a cover up for the sexual harassment lawsuit problems stemming from former employee of the show Nicole Spence. WBLS has paid Nicole a large sum to drop the case and have decided to make changes to the show as a result! I also hear after Wendy’s contract is up in 09 her contract will be terminated.

Which I’m sure Wendy isn’t too salty about it seeing as her TV show has been picked up by FOX! Shout to all my super friends at the Wendy Williams Show Anthony, Lorraine, and crew;-) who will be working hard in July of 09 when Wendy’s show will return!

Speaking of Wendy… Dr. Boyce Watkins goes on Wendy Williams and Mentions Lady Drama!

The “Peoples Scholar” and good friend to the blogesphere Dr. Boyce Watkins hit up Wendy Williams radio show in NYC to dish it out on an array of topics including the current election, the economic crisis and his gripe with DL Hughley! And he also gave an honorable mention to muah!

Check it out right about… NOW:

Deceased Def Jam Exec Shakir Stewart will have a private service…

The funeral arrangements for Def Jam Exec Shakir Stewart have been released via Vibe. Read below:

A private funeral is being arranged for Def Jam Record’s Executive Vice-President of A&R, Shakir Stewart, who shot himself with a handgun at his Marietta home on Saturday. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, police have declined to release additional details regarding Stewart’s death. Funeral arrangements are still pending, said a spokesman at Murray Bros. Cascade Chapel in Atlanta. According to the Cobb medical examiner’s office, the autopsy report will take up to 12 weeks. On Sunday, Stewart’s finance Michelle Rivers said that Stewart was in “deep pain and largely suffering in silence.”

My condolences do go out to his family at this time.

Janet Jackson Calls off her Tour…

Out of nowhere JJ has decided to axe the remaining shows of her Rock Wit Chu Tour. Last I heard her Detroit show had to be rearranged due to her explicit sexual scene but I wasn’t expecting this! In any event her fans are p#####! One in particular… Watch this:

Las Vegas Police Issue Arrest Warrant For Mos Def

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has issued a warrant for the arrest of Brooklyn rapper/actor Mos Def yesterday evening (November 5).

Mos, born Dante Smith, was allegedly involved in an altercation with a professional photographer at the most recent MAGIC showing in August.

While attending an event during the fashion trade convention, photographer Volker Corell claims the Be Kind Rewind star assaulted him, allegedly ripping away his camera, and throwing the equipment to the ground before walking away with it.

Corell, who was an official photographer for the MAGIC convention says he suffered a cut on his left hand as a result of the confrontation.

Mos, who made an appearance at Vegas nightclub Prive on October 20, now faces charges of felony robbery and malicious destruction of property.

Def Jam’s Stewart Supported Barack Obama, Funeral Arrangements

Stewart was also an avid supporter of Barack Obama and gave to the incumbent president of the United States of America, despite the music mogul’s apparent sudden death earlier in the month.Stewart, the former executive vice president of Island Def Jam,  made large donations to Barack Obama’s highly successful “Campaign for Change.”Earlier this year, Stewart gave the presidential aspirant $2,300 as Obama forged ahead to be president of the United States, an historic goal realized on November 4.One

insider wishes Stewart could have lived to see this day.”I

don’t know Shakir’s mind state at the time of his death, but I somehow

feel that if he could have maintained to see Barack get elected, he

could have been charged to overcome any of life’s obstacles,” the

source stated. “This has been a rough year for a lot of people, but now

we feel anything is achievable.”Under federal law, individuals can give up to a maximum of $2,300 to in the primary elections and another $2,300 for the general election. Stewart made his donation as Obama battled Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary, according to public records. The 34-year-old Oakland, California native tragically killed himself with a gunshot to the head on November 1, according to Cobb

County, Georgia police.

Funeral

arrangements have been finalized for Stewart and a celebration has been announced.

The

34 year-old executive’s life will be celebrated on Friday November 7 at

the historic King’s Chapel, located on the campus of his alma mater,

Morehouse College.

Stewart

was in charge of running the day to day operations of Def Jam

Recordings, a responsibility he inherited after mogul Jay-Z officially

vacated the position in December 2007.

In his short tenure, Stewart oversaw the handling of Nas’ critically acclaimed Untitled album, Young Jeezy’s The Recession, and LL Cool J’s last Def Jam project Exit 13.

Some

have questioned the death of the highly successful executive, refusing

to believe he could with such a successful career and loving family

behind him.Kenny Burns, Stewart’s friend of 17-years, stated that Stewart wasn’t the sort to kill himself. “Me

and Shake, we’re men’s men. We had kids, we’re responsible fathers. And

the man that I know wouldn’t take his life. That man was strong, it

ain’t no street pressure, music business, L.A. Reid, these fake ass

artists…that ain’t gon’ tear nobody like Shake down,” he told  vibe.com “It’s just something that I

can’t see, nor accept. We wouldn’t do that.”Other friends say that Stewart’s demeanor had changed in the periods before his death. Christopher

Hicks, music executive and friend of Stewart, told the Atlanta

Journal-Constitution, “Whatever happened over the past 24 hours is not

a testament to who we all know.”

Conspiracy theories aside, police maintain Stewart died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head in his house in Marietta, Georgia. He was pronounced dead at Kennestone Hospital in the day.

The

pending autopsy review can take up to 12 weeks to complete, at which

time the Cobb County medical examiner will declare a final verdict on

the cause of death.

The

funeral service at King Chapel is located on 830 Westview Drive in

Atlanta, and will commence at 3PM.Due to the expected high turnout the

family is recommending potential attendees to arrive at least an hour

early.

In

lieu of sending flowers or gifts, the family requests that a charitable

donation be made to the children of Shakir Stweart, Micaela and

Sebastian, through a website to be launched at a later date.

Donations can also be made by visiting any SunTrust bank location and requesting the Shakir Stewart Memorial Fund.

The NEW New World Order

And so we have the change that we fought so hard for; a gigantic monumental

step towards the next phase of American evolution. The election of Barack Obama

is more than a victory for black people or for any racial subset. More than

anything else it was a triumph for the power of youth; for the voice of the

generation that has yet to make its mark on the face of America outside of pop

culture manifestation.

You can segment them with Generation X’s and Y’s and Next’s but this

generation (or group of them) has been defined by its underachievement and

apathy for anything non-immediate.  Today

was the day that Generation Now got off its collective ass and voted against

the mortgaging of their future to preserve a present that has little regard for

their destiny.

Congratulations. Welcome to the first day of the New World Order. Not the

Illuminati world order but the real one. The one where you get out of the baby

seat and take the wheel of the street car named desire. The one where you vote; where you voice. The one where you

buy the politicians. The one where you

lobby.  The one where you become aware of the way the world

works.

If nothing else, Barack Obama has shown you that there is strength in

numbers. That three million people with 100 dollars is even stronger than 10

people with 30 million.  That a bundle of

that many branches are unbreakable.  Not

by slander, not by hate, and not by negativity. The lesson you should take from

this historic event is the power of organization and the true force of

mobilization.

The lesson you should take is that if youth culture marshals their

forces and puts the resources behind them, there is no power on earth that can

withstand it.

These opportunities don’t come once in a lifetime.  They don’t come once every four years. They

come daily. They come when corporations think that old white men in an office

can determine what is cool for you to consume. They come when your favorite

artist goes double wood while some cat who can’t spell is selling hundreds of

thousands of records.

You have been informed.  You have

been shown the power of your collective voice on a macro level. Do not lose

sight of how to apply that on a micro level in your own lives. Your families,

your crew, your blocks are all there. Be a bundle not a branch.

Don’t surrender your power to apathy and laziness. Long Live Barack

Obama. Longer live the spirit of youth. You can do even more than this. Change

is like marriage. It’s not a destination it’s a journey. President elect

Obama’s… (wow) ascent is not the end but the beginning. The beginning of the

New World Order. Will you be the driving force, or will you continue the

mistakes of the previous world? This time you have a choice.

America’s Great Hope

I watched

something necessary the other night, necessary for the

legitimacy of America and it’s interests around the

world. Necessary for it’s religion of capitalism and

it’s imperial ambition, which were not curbed in anyway

with the election of an African American. Instead they

gained perhaps the greatest spokesperson for their

cause that they could have ever received. People that

never felt inclusive now feel like part of America, like they

have a personal stake in its success and for people that

truly love this country, isn’t that what you wanted? To have

more people who live here proud of being an American? For

many people Bush was never their president, to them he

stole the first election and railroaded the second

one with mired swift boat attacks on John Kerry’s

character while dodging facts about the

mischaracterization of Iraq as somehow being

involved in 9/11 and how the intelligence that led us to war was

so badly distorted. Some surrogates even went as far as

to suggest that Mr.Kerry might have inflicted the

wounds on himself in Vietnam to receive a Purple

Heart…http://uk. youtube.

com/watch?v=JoM90bAsr1MThe

same smear tactics were used all throughout this

election, the same fear mongering and questions brought

about Obama’s faith, place of birth and his

“relationship with terrorists.” This cost the McCain

campaign and it’s supporters, opportunity and

legitimacy about their complaints of the

future 44th President. They went beyond the simple

implications of the Clinton campaign deep into the

territory of arousing the fear and hatred ingrained in the

minds of white citizens all over America. And yet they were

denied yesterday for good reason. The mob would not have

tolerated it. His victory was a restoration of the

crumbling belief in our democracy, because the loss of

faith; that, my brother’s and sisters is how empire’s

fall, not from simple military failure but when their

people no longer believe in it. During the last few

years of Bush, this is what I saw. I cannot answer if

there would have been rioting would he have not won, but his

ascension to the Commander in Chief has made a strong case

for the people’s choice being what and who control’s

America. When in truth the strength and power of

Military Industry and Corporate Conglomerates saw more

of a champion than any urban working class citizen

could have, in Obama.Through careful planning,

timed responses, tactful alienation and one of the

best organized campaigns, at long last the people of

America have a man that they WANT to believe in, a man they can

point to as an example of the death of racism, the

birth of hope and the inclusion of member’s of

disaffected society in the United States. But is this to

be?Michelle Obama was right when she talked

about feeling proud to be an American for the first

time. And white conservatives took it out of context.

They assumed that the Black and Latino community who have

had the right to vote for the past 40 of the 221 years of this

countries existence should kneel and kiss the ground of

a land that is only now acknowledging their service and

contribution. Truthfully I am more inspired by her

words than most of his. And, I am reinforced in my

understanding that a man (especially one that

aspires to achieve anything significant) without

the right woman to support him and offer him guidance

will never amount anything. Her words were prophetic

for they truly did speak to the manner in which urban

Black and Latino people have embraced the USA.As I said

before this was necessary for America to do… To not follow

in the footsteps of the Roman Empire in its alienation

of the people’s that it conquered. Their great

mistake was NOT to include their allies and offer them

the benefits of citizenships and partaking in the glory

of what the empire gained as a reward for assimilation.

Africans were on this side of the world before Columbus, but

in US history they were brought as slaves, kept

subservient through a Europeanized

Christendom, and lied to about their glorious

past, and their contributions to the history of

humanity. After all it was Africans who comprised the

power ranks of the early church, Africans who

nursed the philosophy of the ancient Greeks and

African Muslims who ruled Western Europe for over 700

years, that’s more than 3 times as long as the United

States has existed as a country. They are a people who have

fought hard for every small victory and seemingly

insignificant right taken for granted nowadays. They fought and died

in every major US war going to back to the very founding of

this nation when Crispus Attucks was the first

person to ever die for American Freedom from British

Imperial rule. Yet every time they proved their

bravery and willingness to lay down their lives for the

nation of their captivity, subsequent birth

and allegiance to, they were denied the honor of a

well-deserved recognition. They were denied loans,

given substandard housing, redlined into the

ghetto, had their communities filled with drugs

and their addictions criminalized whereas the

upper class of white society had theirs treated as

an illness. Africans have had their commitment to

family and values overlooked by a media

highlighting of the worst sections of society. The

Black family did not fall apart until the crack era,

for even during the times of slavery, it came together with

more strength than ever! Because there were sisters who

were looking after children who weren’t theirs and

brothers who played the father when their father’s were

sold off and gone.Black people for all

intents and purposes have a right to have certain

cynicisms and grievances with America. Perhaps not as

much as Native Americans but they wouldn’t be the only

ethnic group in the world to have a difficult

relationship with the nation they live in. After all the

world’s nations are actually comprised of many nations

most of which are included by right of conquest and not

willing consent. And yet November 4th I saw Black people in Harlem

waving American flags proudly and loudly. I saw them

painted red white and blue, chanting and cheering

“USA, USA”. I saw cops shaking hands with brothers from

the hood who hate cops. I saw white college students who

have gentrified Harlem and the last of Harlem’s bulk of

Black residents welcome them with open arms dancing in the

streets because they were wearing Obama buttons or

carrying Obama posters. He truly is a unifying

force. He has changed the FACE of America, but now the

question remains can he actually change America? Can he

stop the war? Or can he just change it.America has a new leader. To me

personally I have always seen race a great illusion to

justify slavery and build the capital for

capitalism. His race is not as important as his design for

the economy. But those who would think that we live in a

post racial America are blind, and those who think that

his minor experience will prevent him from acting with

all the force of the greatest military power in the

world will be surprised. His great strength is in his

ability to listen and remember, to communicate and to

inspire. To convince and to come up with the best

explanation possible instead of perhaps some of the

worst excuses for leadership, rationale for war and

political nepotism that we have seen in America’s history

during Bush II.But his victory, he was right to say was not his victory

alone, it was also the resounding failure of the Right

Wing Republicans. So much so that it seems as if people from

the very onset on the right might have aided McCain’s

downfall to have the president they thought would be

better for business in the neo liberal world of

globalization.McCain lost this election for

many reasons though.-McBush: His

inability to distance and separate himself from George

Bush and the fiscal crisis that came as result of economic

policies of the 43rd president’s administration.

His pathetic attempt to make the difference known at

the end of the 3rd presidential debate was too little, way

too late.-The “Right” Enemies: A

person is often judged by their enemies, McCain

lost to Obama because of his inability to curb what was

first seen as the fringe of his party and eventually

came to be seen as a significant % of the base. In some

videos you can even see his own surprised and disturbed

reaction to what his supporters believed. The rallies

became more and more about hatred and not any issues of real

consequences. I know Christians and Right Wingers

that are logical independent voters and when they saw the

Republican base questioning him being a Muslim (as

if that was a crime), an antichrist, a socialist, and

screaming out “terrorist”, even the many of which had

planned to back McCain/Palin were disgusted. They looked at

their own party as if to say I can’t really believe

that you’re doing this to us now. If I were Obama I would

have not feared these people, I would have

engineered these people, and right now I would

thank God for them. They cost McCain the election. Any

rational debate that true fiscal and family values

conservatives would have had were mixed in the same bag as

these people.www. youtube.

would like to personally thank these idiots

should they ever muster the courage to actually leave

their Petri dish rural environment.-The Palin

Factor: Like I said, I know a few conservatives, most of

them aren’t religious zealots (although I do have some

family like that) and they told me that in good conscious they

couldn’t vote for their ticket. The right wing talking

points said that Obama and Palin had the same amount of

experience. To which a Military officer who is a

friend of mine snidely but honestly from the bottom of his

war hardened heart responded, “experience

being the same, she’s incapable of answering a

straight question, she’s incompetent, she can’t

stand up to Putin or anyone else. I voted Obama.”

Truly her champions were people who cheered during the

procession of The Emperor’s new clothes. She was no

Hillary.http://www. youtube.

OH MY F#####’ GOD. Caribou Barbie…Shut up

about having the LA Times hold back pictures of

Obama!!!http://www. youtube.

com/watch?v=MWZHTJsR4Bc ( THIS IS

FRIGHTENING ) And this is the GOP was making excuses for.Smart move

old friend…Right Wing Defectors:Colin

Powell put the nail in McCain’s coffin for all

Republicans who were creatures of logic over blind

faith. He spoke for those who wanted understanding

about the real issue, the economy. McCain choose to

focus on Ayers and other old professors instead.

He lacked vision, thinking his party could

influence the moderates and the independents with this.Instead Scott

McClellan, Christopher Buckley, etc… became

a testament to Obama being able to win over not just working

class whites, but conservative whites, which he

proved to be able to do in the home stretch.http://tips.

webdesign10.

com/politics/more-conservatives-back-obama-346.

htmlDuh, Economy: These are all

compelling arguments, but none of them more of a

resounding factor than the economy. Which McCain

avoided!!! Had McCain chosen for example Mitt

Romney as VP this race would have been much closer in some key

states. Here was a well-spoken, respected and

successful businessman. He was the most well known

Republican after McCain. He made millions from his

business, he understood the crisis from a

definitively fiscal Republican base, and

would have won independents who found no answers in the

2008 GOP ticket. Instead the economy became the blow that

McCain/Palin never recovered from. But what does this

all mean?Is the Revolution over? Hardly. Are the

world’s problems solved, not at all. Is Mumia going to

get out of jail? I hope Mr.Obama looks into that but I bet

it’s not high on his list. The threat of terrorism isn’t

over nor is the threat of preemptive strikes. Should

people of color now sign up for the Military now that the

president looks like someone in their family? Stop

it.In

order for Mr. Obama to have become America’s president, he had to back

Israel 100%, not mention of the suffering of Palestinians, so the

Middle East will not change drastically. Rahm Emanuel whose father was

a soldier in the Zionist paramilitary organization called “Irgun” was

recently selected as his Chief of Staff. I reserve my judgment and

approach with an open mind so as to not give into hypocrisy because a

man is not always his father. I just hope Obama can inject different

opinions as well as his powerful logic into that conversation. I hope

he will normalize relations with Cuba, for the sake of everyone who has

family they cannot see, but in order to win Florida he had to change

his tone about it. He will not investigate 9/11 although I think that

now that he has the power do to so he should not be afraid to use it. I

hope he will look into that and into the origin of the faulty

intelligence that led us into Iraq. He will be everyone’s president,

but the majority of white America doesn’t see Malcolm X the way I do,

nor did they see the Black panthers as freedom fighters, they saw them

as terrorists, are we to give up our history and whitewash our heroes

and praise those who kept us subservient because of this victory?

Racism

hasn’t disappeared and you can always tell a racist/ignorant person by

their notion that because Obama is president that we live in a post

racial America. It is a sign of progress, it is a great triumph for all

people, (after all we forget Barack is half white too.) It is very

inspirational, but inspiration alone doesn’t complete a crusade.

I

am sometimes accused of being too serious, which fools mistake for

negativity. No I just understand that now the idea of Reparations for

Blacks in America will be completely off the table. The powerful will

remain powerful, the rich will stay rich and we gain advancement only

in serving other’s causes that we then accept as our own. He cannot

change the past but he can change the future, and this more than

anything is what I, and others are hoping he will be able to do

expeditiously.

After all he only has 18 months

from the time he is elected, until the next congressional election

really gets into the swing of things, and Congress turn to the their

own races. He will need to act quickly.

The

price of having hope is sometimes disappointment, but the price of

having no hope is always failure… That said I have a few main concerns

for America’s new Caesar: Repairing, regulating and reforming the

economy, Healthcare for all the people of the richest country in the

world. Bringing logic and reason to the war on terror and “war on

drugs”. And lastly the reason that many Latinos and Indigenous people

voted for him and delivered in key battleground states. Stopping the

criminalization of hardworking immigrants upon whose backs our great

nation is built.

I

am just a man, one of 300 million, and though my support base is

massive, one of the largest in the underground. I know Mr.Obama will

never read this. But I have hope for the future you are trying to fight

for us to have Mr. Obama and any change from the last 8 years of this

record gas price, record home foreclosure, record incompetence (Katrina

& Bin Laden’s 8 yr holiday) government is a good start to me. My

cup of hope is full, but I sip it slowly, because hope is a powerful

drug.

Remember, all politics is local, our job hasn’t ended with the election it has just begun.

Men Arrested In FL For ‘Sagging’: President Elect Obama Pans Baggy Pants Law

President elect Barack Obama’s strong affinity for Hip-Hop culture doesn’t extend to the street fashion of sagging, although the Illinois senator disagrees with legislative bans.

According to the smokinggun.com, Riviera Beach, FL has already made 17 arrests since enacting a ban on sagging in mid-August.

The first dozen of those arrests came within the first two weeks of the law being decreed, while 5 arrests have happened since the end of October.

In a recent MTV interview with Sway, Obama equally criticized states considering ordinances banning sagging, and individuals who practice the style, which is widely believed to have originated in prison due to the prohibition of belts.

“Here’s my attitude: I think passing a law about people sagging pants is a waste of time. We should be focused on creating jobs, improving our schools, getting health care, dealing with the war in Iraq,” Obama detailed. “Any public official who is worrying about sagging pants probably needs to spend some time focusing on real problems out there.”

Available mug shots of those arrested for sagging reveal that nearly all were young, African-American males.

According to police records, many of them were incredulous at the fact they were being arrested simply for a fashion style.

“What the f**k are you stopping me for, I ain’t did s**t!” one man allegedly barked to Riviera Beach officer J. Campbell after being taken into custody.

Despite frowning on these laws and the use of taxpayer money, Obama expects that young men who adhere to the style to have more respect for themselves and their family.

“Brothers should pull up their pants. You’re walking by your mother, your grandmother, and your underwear is showing. What’s wrong with that?” Obama explained. “There are some issues that we face that you don’t have to pass a law, but that doesn’t mean folks can’t have some sense and some respect for other people. And, you know, some people might not want to see your underwear. I’m one of them.”

Cognizant of other popular fashions in Hip-Hop such as dreadlocks and tattoos, Obama feels these styles can still be achieved with class, something young adults must be aware of as they enter and move up in the workforce.

“You have ‘locks but you look clean, man,” Obama said in reference to Sway’s dreads. “It’s tight. My little girl has twists, Malia. I think, to me, it looks great. Obviously, I’d be upset if she were discriminated against on that basis.

“On the other hand, if you’re working at a fancy store, and you show up to work in jeans and a shirt and you have a tattoo across your neck like Mike Tyson, for them to say, ‘You know what, that’s sort of not the image we’re trying to project,’ obviously that’s within their rights as well. Any business has a right to say, ‘This is the tone we want to set,’ as long as they aren’t discriminating on the basis of things people can’t control.”

Last night (November 4), Barack Obama made history as the United States’ first African-American president in the nation’s 232-year history.

Obama will be sworn in as America’s 44th president on January 20, 2009.

Kanye’s Blues

Have you ever seen that movie,

Mo Betta Blues? The lead character is Bleek Gilliam.  He’s a trumpeter;

an inspired musical force with a severe case of tunnel vision and

dedication to his craft.  His desire to use his body as a vessel for

his creativity is surpassed only by his need to stay true to the music

that comes from within.  In many circumstances, this is a true

creator’s edict.  The artist is a slave to the art.  The audience

either follows or they don’t.  Their love for the performer is more incidental than plan.

Kanye West reminds me of Bleek.  His latest offering 808’s and Heartbreak is a

serious departure from what his fans expect, but it is supposedly the next step

in his artistic growth.  While presently in the throes of both evolution

and grief, I’m sure Kanye finds the music a fitting way to consequently memorialize

what he has lost and project what he may have gained.  I’m not sure

who among you has the contract; the one on which Mr. West signed away

his musical life to Hip-Hop, but you need to tear it up.  It looks like

he may have grown beyond our beloved genre, or at least taken a pause

from it for the time being.

The art made him do it.

Some of the fans are not

happy.  I understand you invest in these artists.  You

invest your money with the purchase.  You invest your time when you

listen.  You invest your mind when you dissect the lyrics and if you

love it, you invest your heart.  But you need to understand, this is

not the purpose of his creation, it’s a bonus.  And when that bond is

broken and the artist moves on to greener pastures, your broken heart

is collateral damage.  It’s not for the sake of the fan.

It’s for the sake of the art.

If you know this movie I’m

referring to, then you know Bleek had an arch nemesis, Shadow.  And

Shadow didn’t create for the art.  He bowed to the audience.  His music

didn’t come from within.  It was a half-hearted attempt at pleasing the

crowd and we all know once you start trying to please everyone; you end

up pleasing no one.

The Shadows of the Hip-Hop

world are the emcees who garner the most disdain from those who pay

attention.  They are the leeches of the industry, hiding behind

figurative dumpsters waiting on a creator to walk by so they can steal,

copy and mass produce.  For me there is no grey area, you are either an

artist or a fraud.  However, being a fan of a true artist means taking

the good and the bad from your dude.  It means supporting them through

the awkward periods of their development and it means having their back

even when they aren’t coming with what you want to hear.

So you don’t have to like it,

but you should try to understand it.  We have watched other artists

evolve in ways we wish they hadn’t. When L.L. dropped “I Need Love” the

most common question asked was, “What in the hell is that?”  The

hushed, sing-song delivery and sappy lyrics were more than many could

bear and different from anything mainstream Hip-Hop had ever offered.

Nas became Esco, left the timbs and fitted on the closet floor and gave

us his best Diddy impersonation.

Take that.  Take that.  Take that. And we did.

Wayne looks like he’s on his

way to becoming a rocker, Snoop did country and Flava Flav left Public

Enemy to become whatever that is he is now. (Ok.  Flav is a bad

example, but you get my point.)

But you should understand West is not Shadow.  He is Bleek (no Memphis) and the art is what he creates for, not the audience.

So as you listen to yet

another single from the album that you are probably not going to buy

and bellyache about his new style, try to respect him for his

artistry.  The desire to create has led plenty a lyricist down the

wrong path, but most recover (Electric Circus, anyone?).

On second thought, I could

totally be wrong.  This could be an attempt on Mr. West’s part to

garner that pop money and he may very well be selling out his investors

to buy stock in auto-tune.  But since I don’t know for sure, I’ll role

with the dramatically somber version of this story. Forget I said that.

Lord Infamous Returns With ‘After Sics’

Former Three 6 Mafia member Lord Infamous will release a new album titled After Sics on his own Black Rain Entertainment.

After Sics, which is the second release since his departure from Oscar Award winning group Three 6 Mafia, is the follow up to his 2007 release The Man, The Myth, The Legacy.

The rapper, revered for his drug laced, dark lyrics, had been with Three 6 Mafia since the group’s inception in 1991.

“This project was a must for all my fans,” Lord Infamous said of After Sics. “Everyone asked if I’m gonna keep doing the dark sound, but I never changed my music, it’s still the same.”

The rapper, born Ricky Dunigan, experienced legal challenges while preparing his latest solo effort.

Lord Infamous, who is half-brothers with DJ Paul, was arrested in March of 2008 during a domestic dispute with an unnamed family member.

He insists that despite the album title After Sics, he still maintains a working relationship with the group, although the latest album introduces his new alliances.

“With this album, we took it back to the underground days, and the only difference between this album and the last is that you get to hear all the Black Rain artists, Tha Club House Click,” Lord Infamous explained.

Lord Infamous’ third solo album After Sics is due in stores January 27th on Black Rain Entertainment.

Mase Expands Church; Bringing The Gospel To Phoenix

Former Bad Boy Records rapper Mason “Mase” Betha continues to fulfill his call to serve God, as he prepares to launch a new branch of his El Elyon International Church (EEIC) in Phoenix, Arizona.

The entertainer turned pastor told AllHipHop.com that he picked Phoenix after making several recent trips to the city.

According to Betha, the new EEIC branch falls in line with his plan to expand his ministry beyond its Atlanta location.

“It just makes sense that we are on both coasts,” Mase told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “Our vision has always been to plant churches all over the world, and Phoenix is the first of many. We love the city of Phoenix and look forward to making a tremendous impact.”

Betha’s expansion of the EEIC marks another chapter for the rapper, who released a 2004 album Welcome Back, which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart and spawned the singles “Welcome Back” and “Breathe, Stretch, Shake.”

In addition to releasing Welcome Back, Betha continued to generate talk among rap fans, after rumors surfaced of a possible signing to 50 Cent’s G-Unit Records and an appearance on the 2005 remix to Fat Joe’s#### song “Lean Back.”

The rapper, who retired from the music business in 1999 after declaring himself a born-again Christian, ultimately returned to working on his ministry full-time, as he faded from the rap scene once more.

Despite plans of launching the new EEIC branch on Dec. 31, Betha will continue to oversee EEIC’s flagship church in Atlanta, which is currently undergoing renovations.

Those interested in working with Betha at the new church can take part in auditions the rapper and his wife will hold for musicians and singers on Thursday (November 6) at Carl Hayden High School in Phoenix.

Tale Of The (Mix)Tape: Jay-Z + Coldplay: Classic, Rick Ross Looses His Trill

On this historical week we have an appealing selection of artists. Jay-Z and Coldplay are mashed together by Mick Boogie in Viva La Hova. Lloyd Banks drops the second part of his Return Of The PLK series, Halloween Havoc. Rick Ross gives us Maybach Music Pt 2: More Than Rap and DJ Premier has gotten into his own swing on the politics with Time For Change.

As always each mixtape is given a rating. Heavy Rotation is a rating that signals a mixtape champion. At the other end of the spectrum lies D.O.A (Drop on Arrival) signaling that any attempt of listening should cease and desist and the listener may need some cue tips to get the wack juice from their eardrums. Music after the jump.

Jay Z & Coldplay

Viva La Hova

Heavy Rotation

There are few better at the blend tape than Mick Boogie. He blessed the masses with Biggie’s Unbelievable and caught the ear of the industry. His latest blend, Viva La Hova is one of the smoothest mash ups to come out since The Grey Album; yes I said it. Combining both the sensibilities of two of the biggest music acts in the world, Coldplay and Jay-Z, each track has an organic feel. Some of the standouts may include “XYZ”, “Cold Success”, and “Ignorant Science”, but the entire tape is done close to perfection. Other DJ’s should take note with their bland blends; the Commissioner smacked the game with this one.

Rick Ross

Maybach Music Pt 2: More Than Rap

One And Done

“N****s will learn…TRILLAAAAAAAAAAAAA”. It’s a shame that the year of 2008 for Rick Ross will be known for his past life as correctional officer instead of his extremely solid Trilla. His Latest, Maybach Music Pt.2: More Than Rap isn’t quite the cook up that Trilla gave us. Its’ selection is a tad drier (“Paper Planes” into “Swagger Like Us”), and his rhymes seem just less sincere. It also doesn’t help that he has Birdman coming through on every other track with the patented “I’m a CEO on the mic” flow; shout out to Puff. Even though you’re going to get some good verses (“Green Light”) that make it worth a listen, The Big Bauce doesn’t deliver that good dope he claims to have gotten rich off of.

Lloyd Banks

Halloween Havoc

Heavy Rotation

Lloyd Banks has turned up the heat lately. Only two months removed from Return Of The PLK, he releases Halloween Havoc. He goes hard on tracks like “Shine Through” where he manipulates the heavy strings with his machine gun flow. Watch out for “Need To Be 1” where Lloyd takes a different take on the latest Lil Wayne single “Comfortable”. For listeners craving to hear the type of punchlines that made him a mixtape monster, Halloween Havoc satisfies that itch. Banks is finally turning his career from a hot disappointment back to that rapper that used to burn our rewind buttons. Let’s see how long this last though.

Stat Quo

The South Has Something To Say

Peep It

For those who remember, this is the Atlanta based MC who signed with Dr. Dre. As many previously Aftermath artists, he has sat on the shelf longer than baby pictures. So for Stat to name his tape The South Has Something Say might be a reach. But there are times he really shines, like tracks “Time 2 Get Paid” and “The Sun”. However joints like “Gutta Sh*t” slow down the momemtum. Even though Stat doesn’t create a classic, The South Has Something To Say should get at least a listen.

DJ Premier

Time For Change

Peep It

One thing that will be good about our new presidential elect will be the end of the Obama based mixtapes. We all are for change but the pimp Obama for press is played. Even so, it’s good that Premo decided to release this one. Within are tracks by Scarface (“Emeritus”), Little Brother (“Bless The Child”),  and Ludacris (“Undisputed”), so you don’t have to be worry about making more room in your coaster drawer. Even if there are a few tracks that may have you napping,*cough* Big Shug (“When I Strike”) *cough*, this is still some solid music to ride to leaving the polls to the celebration parties.

Barack Obama First African-American President Of U.S.; Rappers React

With sixty-percent of the votes counted, Barack Obama has made history, becoming the first African-American President of United States of America.

He is the 44th man to hold the highest office in American government. The Democratic candidate has carried at least 297 Electoral College votes, 27 more than needed to be declared President.

Within less than an hour, that projected number jumped to 338 votes for President-Elect Barack Obama, versus Republican candidate John Mc Cain’s 155.

“If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dreams of our founders are alive in our time, who still questions the power of out democracy, tonight is your answer,” the President-Elect stated to supporters who had waited for hours in Chicago’s Grant Park for just this moment.

Shortly after the announcement, McCain addressed his supporters in his home state of Arizona, informing them that he had just concluded a conversation in which he congratulated his opponent.

“I won’t spend a moment of the future wondering what might have been,” said Senator McCain during his concession speech. “This campaign was, and will remain, the great honor of my life. My heart is filled with nothing but gratitude for the experience and to the American people for giving me a fair hearing before deciding that Senator Obama and my old friend Senator Joe Biden should have the honor of leading us for the next four years. I wish Godspeed to the man who was my opponent, and will now be my President.”

Exit polls across the country indicate that the largest constituency contributing to Senator Obama’s victory are 18-35 year olds who are brand loyal to Hip-Hop culture.

“The vision of the Hip-Hop generation and its young people is in full and glorious effect tonight,” Russell Simmons told AllHipHop.com. “While many older Americans, who marched and struggled so hard so Senator Obama could run for president of the United States never dared to believe in his candidacy’s real potential, young people, particularly the hip-hop community, had faith and their imagination became our reality.”

The major television networks are all reporting that in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, Wisconsin and Connecticut, 18-29 year olds voted in record numbers, choosing Barack Obama as their next president.

“This is the proudest day of my life,” exclaimed Sean “Diddy” Combs to AllHipHop.com shortly after the announcement.

This year, first time voters made up 11% of the millions of voters who cast a ballot either way.

“I just thank God that I am here today to see this,” free speech/rap pioneer Luther Campbell told AllHipHop.com. “I knew this day was coming the first day I went to jail, when I was told white kids were buying my songs, I knew this day would come. I am so happy me and my wife gave to him [Obama] from day one. Today there is no more black and white in the U.S.A. We are one.”

Early poll results indicated that more than 45 million voters elected the new president.

“Americans we did it,” an excited Killer Mike told AllHipHop.com. “We put aside fear, racist ideals and bigotry and we fulfilled an American dream. We fulfilled Martin’s dream, a dream in which a nation of one group [that] was brought here shackled in servitude [and] has produced a man with the character to unify a struggling nation. A nation of former slaves and slave masters, a nation of former and current immigrants. He will be what Roosevelt, Kennedy and Lincoln were: a unifier for this great nation we call America. In the words of that great American philosopher Don King, ‘God Bless America, Baby!’”

Illa J: Yancey Boys (Album Review)

Often times it’s difficult for a youngster to let their star shine beyond that of their more celebrated and successful parent or older sibling without comparisons. Illa J, younger brother of the late MC/producer J Dilla, wants to prove that theory wrong with his Yancey Boys (Delicious Vinyl).

Consisting of fourteen tracks, the album is produced entirely by Dilla. Although Jay Dee’s legacy is heard and felt throughout the entire album, it’s sometimes difficult to tell if you’re listening to Hip-Hop or R&B. Nonetheless, it’s still a fresh sound found on the disc.

The album opens with the jazzy “Timeless” followed by the more up-tempo “We Here”. One thing that is immediately noticeable on the album is that Illa does a lot of his own vocals which is complimentary to some of the tracks.

Narrated by Frank Nitti, “Alien Family”, introduces the young artist as well as points out that the Yancey family are natural born singers. He also describes Jay Dee and Illa J as both having an alien-like sense of rhyming.

Despite the fact that his brother produced the album made up of several uniquely orchestrated tracks, Illa adds his own flare which allows you to enjoy the album based on his own individual merits and not that of his brother’s. The laid-back electric organs heard on “Strugglin” helps tell the tale of a struggling artist and how they must hustle the hardest to carve their spot in Hip-Hop. Other noteworthy titles include “Showtime” and “Swagger” which are both bump-worthy singles as the mellow vibes felt on each puts the listener in a mesmerizing trance.

Overall each track blends well into each other, and Illa displays his diversity from rhyming to vocals; which actually doesn’t sound horribly bad. While Yancey Boys isn’t breaking any new barriers, it is the start of what might be a promising career.

Green Party VP Candidate Hosts Hip-Hop Event

Green Party Vice Presidential nominee/Hip-Hop activist Rosa Clemente will be joined by a variety of rappers tonight (November 4) in Manhattan, to celebrate her run for Vice President of the United States.

Clemente is a longtime journalist/Hip-Hop activist, who’s name can be seen on ballots nationwide alongside Green Party Presidential nominee Cynthia McKinney.

Talib Kweli, Rebel Diaz, N.Y. Oil, Hakim of Channel Live, Immortal Technique and others are slated to attend the event, which takes place at bar SB3 on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

The event starts at 8:00 PM, while performances start at 11:00 PM and close out Clemente’s celebration.

“This journey would not have been possible without many of you,” Clemente told AllHipHop.com. “At 11:00 pm I will address all my supporters and we will have an old fashioned Hip Hop Jam, until the break of dawn!”

The Green Party, which is the largest third largest political party in the United States, nominated the McKinney/Clemente ticket in July of 2008.

The nomination was also significant because it marks the first time two women of color led a major party’s charge for the Oval Office.

U.S. Rep. McKinney (D-GA), is also a champion of Hip-Hop who once introduced a bill urging the government to release any secret files on slain rapper, Tupac Shakur.
