DJ Khaled Talks New LP, Nas, Ringtones vs. Albums

DJ Khaled is preparing for the September 16 release of his third LP We Global, which the Miami-based DJ guarantees will be his most star-studded effort.

In an exclusive interview with AllHipHop.com, DJ Khaled revealed the loaded guest list he has in store.

“The direction is to just go harder and bigger out here with these records,” Khaled told AllHipHop.com. “I’m collaborating with the biggest hood stars and street artists in the game…Ricky Ross, Plies, Boosie, Akon, Ace Hood, and Trick Daddy. This is just straight out the projects! And the new single ‘Go Hard’ features T-Pain and Kanye West. And that one, I can retire after that!”

However, it is Khaled’s unlikely pairing with Queenbridge’s Nas (“I’m On”) that has many fans raising their eyebrows at such a mash-up of contrasting styles.

According to Khaled, the collaboration was a long time coming.

“I called and told him I wanted to do a ‘Hate Me Now’ but a little different. It was just time for us to do something,” Khaled revealed. “We always wanted to work together throughout the years. Somehow the record got leaked and it really p##### me off because I wanted it to be a surprise. It’s a big record. Nas is spitting that fire…he’s a legend.”

Aware the some fans are critical of the perceived lack of lyrical content and dexterity among the new generation of MCs, Khaled again references Nas, by pointing out that only certain artists are bred to have lasting legacies.

“Lyrics will always be there,” Khaled stated. “That’s why only certain people can be legends.”

Recently the emergence of ringtones has sparked debates on whether this new technology has damaged the importance of albums and artist development in Hip-Hop.

As a successful artist with both albums and ringtones, Khaled argues both can co-exist if the particular artist is savvy and talented enough.

“You got to remember if you have a big ringtone record you got a hit record and you’re a hit artist,” Khaled explains. “Are you a one hit wonder? It depends on that one artist. For me I make big ringtone records and record sales. The sales come when people buy into you and want to be a part of your career. A real fan is going to buy your record and support you.”

The first single for Khaled’s new album is “Out Here Grindin” with Akon, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Lil Boosie, Trick Daddy, Plies, and Ace Hood.

We Global is due in stores September 16.

OUT OF BOUNDS: Are You Ready For Some Football?

It’s here!!! It’s time to pull out the team hoodies, t-shirts, and hats. It’s Kickoff Weekend!!!  I’m as happy as John Madden watching Brett Favre play football.  What better way to start off the 2008-09 NFL season than Thursday Night Football featuring the defending champs facing off against a divisional foe?

Before we get into the games, there are a few things we need to go over.

You meant Ochenta y Cinco, right?

Now I failed Spanish in High School, but even I knew that “Ocho Cinco” meant “Eight-Five” and not “Eighty Five”. Apparently not Chad Javon Johnson. Last week Chad legally changed his name Chad Javon Ocho Cinco in the great state of Florida.  Not surprising that the state of Florida would co-sign on the name change considering that this is the home of one of the biggest screw-ups in the history of American politics. Go figure.

Now I already gave my two-cents on the situation on my blog, but I will ask this; there was nothing else you could have done better with your time than change your name?  On top of that, you used the wrong pronunciation.  Really? Word? This is life now? Focus on the game man, this extra stuff is the reason why you have issues with your head coach.

I will say this, it wouldn’t surprise me if word came out that the “big wigs” in the NFL’s Offices weren’t too happy about the name change despite the fact that this will be a major money maker in terms of marketing and sales of Johnson’s…excuse me, Ocho Cinco’s Bengals jerseys.

O-lineman shot in Jacksonville

Jacksonville Jaguar’s OT Richard Collier was shot several times Tuesday morning in a downtown-suburban area of Jacksonville.

Collier and former Jaguars’ D-end Kenneth Pettway were waiting for two females they met at a club outside of an apartment complex when Collier’s Cadillac Escalade was swarmed by gunfire around 2:45 a.m., Tuesday morning.

Collier is the 3rd NFL player who has sustained injury from gunfire in the last year and a half. (Darrent Williams and Sean Taylor in 2007)

Nowadays, if it’s not an athlete who is involved in a shooting, it’s an athlete being robbed at gun point. The question that has to be asked is, “what can be done to stop this?”

If an athlete goes out and gets a security crew, then the press will be all over them about their “entourage”.  If the team or league installs a curfew for the players, then you’ll have players hollering about the fact that they are grown men and should not have a curfew.  This is a no win situation at the moment and something has to be done before there’s no more athletes left to play the game.

Our prayers go out to the family, friends and teammates of Richard Collier.

Poll Answers

With that aside, let pick some games:

Thursday Night Game 9/04/08

7:00 PM

Washington Redskins at New York Giants

Giants Stadium

East Rutherford, NJ

My Pick: Giants

It’s the season opener folks.  The season has begun and I’m going with the G-men in this game despite the hit they took on defense with the loss of Osi Umenyiora.

Although the key to the G-men’s success is their defense, I’m focusing on their offense this year. With no real leader on defense, it’s the offense’s time to step up.

I’m not sold on the Skins this season. There’s something about the Skins that just doesn’t fit right.  Although the Skins hired Jim Zorn as their head coach after the departure of Joe Gibbs, it’s something about their defense that’s missing. Their defense just doesn’t look strong enough to rock out in the NFC East. Playing in the NFC East, you’re defense has to be on point and this year, I don’t see big things coming from the Skins defense.

Sunday 9/07/08

1pm Games

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints

SuperdomeNew Orleans, LA

My Pick: Saints

At the moment, the Bucs are the current NFC South Champs. I don’t see it being their year to repeat as conference champs this season. The Saints made some moves during the offseason when they traded for TE Jeremy Shockey. With a healthy Deuce McAllistar in the mix, this offense is scary.

Hurricane Gustav may have thrown the Saints off schedule this week, but come Sunday, I believe the Saints will come marching into victory.

St. Louis Rams at Philadelphia Eagles

Lincoln Financial FieldPhiladelphia, PA

My Pick: Eagles

I’m actually very intrigued with this game. Both teams are about the same on offense, but the Eagles look a little stronger on defense with the addition of Asante Samuels.  The Rams did use their top draft picks on defense, but the Eagles are just a little stronger. Defense wins games, so I’m going with the Eagles on this one.

Take note; if both of these teams can stay healthy and shake off the injury bug that they suffered last season, the Eagles and the Rams can be a problem for a number of teams in the league.

New York Jets at Miami

Dolphin StadiumMiami, FL

My Pick: Jets

I’m also very intrigued with this game as well. The back story behind this match-up is what makes this game interesting.  We know what happen with Favre and we know what happened to Chad once Favre became a Jet.  Now the two will face off in Week 01. This is so exciting!!!!

During the pre-season, both 1st team offenses looked good. Both teams moved the ball well on the ground and through the air.  So defense will be the key for victory in this game. The Jets have the better defense in this game, therefore, the Jets will win.

Kansas City Chiefs at New England Patriots

Gillette StadiumFoxboro, MA

My Pick: Patriots

The Chiefs are rebuilding and the Pats are still the Pats. Until Brady and Belichick are separated from the Pats, this team will continue to win. No matter how old the defense is; this team gets wins.  Plus, I’ll take Brady with a bummed leg over a healthy Brodie Croyle any day.

Houston Texans at Pittsburgh Steelers

Heinz FieldPittsburgh, PA

My Pick: Steelers

Although I’m picking the Texans as my sleeper team for this season, their 1st win for the season won’t come in this game.  The Steelers’ are the better team in this match-up.  They have the better defense and their offense has always been consistent.

The Texans are a young team whose stock is slowly rising on the offensive side of the ball; it’s just not their time in this game.

Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens

M&T Bank StadiumBaltimore, MD

My Pick: Ravens

The Bengals have a good offense but a terrible defense.  The Ravens have a good defense and an okay offense.  So I gotta go with the Ravens on this one.  The X-factor in this game is Willis McGahee. With the addition of Ray Rice, the Ravens can run the ball, and that’s a luxury the Bengals don’t have at the moment.

Detroit Lions at Atlanta Falcons

Georgia Dome

Atlanta, GA

My Pick: Lions

The Lions are healthy at the moment and if the beginning of last season is any indication, the Lions will roar early in the season.  If this team can stay healthy throughout the year, they can play the role of spoiler for a lot of teams in the league this year, with hopes of making the playoffs.

The Falcons are rebuilding and with a new coach and a new offense in place, it’ll be a while before the Falcons can really contend. I will say this, with the addition of Michael “Burner” Turner; the Falcons’ run offense will be very interesting to watch this season. Hopefully it will help alleviate some of the stress rookie QB Matt Ryan will face during his 1st year as the starter.

Seattle Seahawks at Buffalo Bills

Ralph Wilson StadiumBuffalo, NY

My Pick: Seahawks

Both of these teams are solid on both sides of the ball, but the Seahawks are just a tad bit stronger on offense than the Bills. The veteran experience for the Seahawks is what puts them over the Bills on both offense and defense. I believe this game will have one of the closest scores of the day this Sunday.

Jacksonville Jaguars  at Tennessee Titans

LP FieldNashville, TN

My Pick: Jaguars

Like the Broncos and Redskins before them, the Jags will enter this Sunday’s game with a heavy heart due to uncontrollable circumstances. Fortunately for the Jags, their 1st game of the season is against a divisional foe that didn’t do much during the offseason to help improve their offense.

The Titans went through two days of a Draft and didn’t get their star QB, Vince Young, any help on offense. Mind you, all of this happened on the heels of the firing of former offensive coordinator Norm Chow. The Titans defense is strong; too bad I can’t say the same about their offense.

4pm Games

ALLHipHop’s NFL Game of the Week

Dallas Cowboys at Cleveland Browns

Cleveland Browns StadiumCleveland, OH

My Pick: Cowboys

First let me say this, I am not drinking the “Cleveland Browns” Kool-Aid. Many people have them giving the Steelers a run for their money in the AFC North. As much as I want to hop on that band wagon, I can’t.  I’m not convinced that their defense will hold up for the entire season.

The Cowboys are favored to win the NFC Championship this year and on paper; they should. Hopefully this is the year they shake off the “Canibus” curse, 2nd Round Knockout, and are focused enough to move on to the championship round in this year’s playoffs. As far as this game goes, the ‘Boys are the better team all around. Both the offense and defense are too much for this young Brown’s squad.

Carolina Panthers at San Diego Chargers

Qualcomm StadiumSan Diego, CA

My Pick: Chargers

When we last saw the Chargers, they were on the bad end of the AFC Championship game. There was discord among the players and the future looked a little bleak.  This team wasn’t running through the same vein and it showed in their performance in that game.

This year, they seemed focused; they seem to be ready to run through that same vein again with their eyes on a championship. So much so; one of their key players on defense is willing to forgo season ending surgery for that title run and that says a lot about the mindset this team is in.

The Panthers are recovering from major injuries from last season and in some sense, overcoming some team discord of their own. Now it’s time to see if this team is healthy enough to put up some big numbers on the scoreboard. I just don’t see it happening against a solid Chargers defense.

Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers

Candlestick Park

San Francisco, CA

My Pick: 49ers

Both teams came into the preseason with QB controversies. Both teams got it straight before the season started.  The 49ers tag QB J.T. O’Sullivan the starter’s role by Week 2 of the preseason.  The Cards waited until last Sunday to name Kurt Warner the starter. Now that the QBs are in place, which one of the two will have success this Sunday?

Well, I’m going with the 49ers and that’s because of their defense. Lawson, Willis, Smith and Clements on defense are a scary look if they stay healthy. With the addition of Takeo Spikes, this defense is poised to pitch some shut outs on the defensive side of the ball.

Sunday Night Football, 8 pm

Chicago Bears at Indianapolis Colts

Lucas Oil Stadium

Indianapolis, IN

My Pick: Colts

In a rematch of Super Bowl XLI, take what I said about Brady and Belichick; change those names to Manning and Dungy. Then, take what I said about the Chiefs and Brody Croyle and change that to the Bears and any QB on the Bears offense. Add in the fact that the Bear’s defense isn’t what it once was, and you have my reason why I think the Bears will lose this game.

Monday Night Football 9/08/08

7pm Game

Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers

Lambeau FieldGreen Bay, WI

My Pick: Packers

I’m going with the Packers in this game because of Aaron Rodgers. This is his time to shine and with the same weapons his predecessor had on offense last season, he has the opportunity to take control of this team and make it his own.

I’m not confident that Tarvaris Jackson is 100% healthy for this week’s match-up and that will have a major effect on what this offense will do on the field.  Thankfully for Jackson, he has one of the best running backs in the game playing with him in Adrian Peterson.  If Peterson can really get it going on Monday night, then the Vikings have a good chance to win.

I believe that the new look Packers will come out Monday night, at home, and give the cheese heads a little something to help them forget about #4.

10:15pm

Denver Broncos at Oakland Raiders

McAfee ColiseumOakland, CA

My Pick: Raiders

The Broncos are the bigger, better, stronger team on paper.  Hold up , we’re talking about the Raider nation baby, and with JaMarcus Russell starting in his 1st full regular season this year and the addition of Darren “Run-DMC” McFadden at the running back position, this offense will be something to reckon with.

Also the addition of DeAngelo Hall to the secondary doesn’t hurt as well. Like the Packers, I also see the Raiders coming out, at home, on Monday Night Football, making some noise at McAfee Coliseum and restoring the Raider mystic in their home opener.

Camp Lo: Fever Pitch

Call them “The Lo” if you’d like, but South Bronx reppin’ MCs Sonny Cheeba and Geechi Suede are still officially known as Camp Lo. Since their acclaimed 1997 debut Uptown Saturday Night and its hit “Luchini AKA This Is It,” Camp Lo have always been a fresh counterpoint to the mainstream Hip-Hop standard of the day. Rocking their elastic flows and Blaxploitation heavy slang over dazzling beats—usually courtesy of Ski of Reasonable Doubt infamy—the duo has gone on to release Let’s Do It Again in 2002 and two well-received mixtape projects since, including 2007’s Black Hollywood. Earlier this year Camp Lo and their Soul Fever imprint signed to Steve Rifkind’s Universal Records backed SRC Records. It’s been a long minute since the Diamond Crooks have enjoyed major label assistance but the current music climate’s relative limpness makes it difficult to say how their brand of Hip-Hop and next proper release, A Piece of the Action, will fair. However, with the pair’s talents (yes, they rhyme better than you), and more joints like their current “Lumdi,” it’s a safe bet Diamond Geechie and Emerald Suede should be reaching some new highs, while keeping it Lo. AllHipHop.com: So, y’all are now signed to SRC Records, how’d that come about?Geechi Suede: Well, [our] manager Kristi Clifford she pretty much got it to Mr. Cee from Hot [97], the record “Lumdi,” right after we cooked it, fresh out the oven. She got it to them, they enjoyed it, started playing it and SRC heard about it kinda at the same time Kristi was hollering at the them too ’cause she had sent a little email out to them or whatever and they was hollering. They actually hollered at Hot 97 asking who was this record they was hearing called “Lumdi,” they didn’t know it was us. Lumdi – Camp Lo

AllHipHop.com: How’d the record come about?Sonny Cheeba: We actually had been sitting on the track for like a year and we didn’t know when we was gonna hit it whatever, whatever. So finally in January we finally decided to do the song and we was thinking like, Yo any new music Camp Lo do gotta be energetic. Everything can’t be laid back no more, get what I’m saying?AllHipHop.com: Now it came like on the heels not too far after your last album, Black Hollywood. Had y’all moved on from the project already or y’all just had this heat in the stash?Sonny Cheeba: Actually, that was a mixtape. Yeah, that was like some songs we had in the stash exactly and then cats wanted to put it out so that’s how we walked with it.Ticket For 2 – Ski Beatz featuring CAMP LOAllHipHop.com: So were y’all looking for a deal or were y’all just doing the independent thing?Geechi Suede: We were pretty much looking for the right situation regardless whether it was going to be major or indie. You know what, I’d rather say we were looking to create the right situation after being in [the game] for a minute now and doing different things that took us down places we didn’t agree with. Later on we decided we would create a situation, you know what I mean. That really worked out ’cause we got our own situation Soul Fever going through SRC. That’s our little venture right there, Soul Fever.AllHipHop.com: Now y’all had kind of a situation with Loud before, I’m thinking of the “Trouble Man” b/w “Cookers” joint y’all had on Stimulated Dummies.Geechie Suede: Wow, right, right… Actually we were supposed to leave there and go to Loud [but] Loud went under and from that point on that’s when the whole independent started, we started trying to do everything ourselves like with “Glow” and Let’s Do It Again.AllHipHop.com: Going back a bit, “Sunkiss,” did y’all push that as far as you wanted to? ‘Cause it kind of came and went but the joint is crazy.Geechie Suede: “Sunkiss” was some experimental stuff that we felt good about and actually got tied to maybe five other songs and we ended up releasing a little Japan overseas EP type exclusive for other there. “Sunkiss” became a part of a project called Short Eyes, our Japan import.  AllHipHop.com: So what’s up with the new project, A Piece of the Action, how far into it are y’all?Sonny Cheeba: We got like 32 in. We had to fall back for like the last one and a half ’cause we were going in there song after song after song and we just wanted to heat it up for minute and come back with some new energy. But we’re 32 in right now.AllHipHop.com: And what about production on there, who’s handling it?Geechie Suede: We’re working with this new up and coming brother named Apple Juice Kid and we got some stuff on there with Ski as well and I think before we close it all we’ll probably be getting some other stuff on there. We’ve been throwing ideas back and forth as far as who we wanna get for the features but we haven’t landed on any concrete platform yet.AllHipHop.com: What’s the reasoning behind that?Sonny Cheeba: I guess it’s like a new energy like the music is never gonna stay the same as far as it is with us, know what I mean. Like we aren’t gonna make the same music we made when we first came out or in between so everything right now is brand new. So the cats who love us love us and we tryna hit these new cats and just let’em know Hip-Hop music, the sound coming from The Lo.Camp Lo “Luchini AKA This Is It” VideoAllHipHop.com: Y’all brothers have always had real strong following yet

that mainstream recognition has eluded y’all a bit. So have y’all ever

had conversations about that or try to put your finger on it?Sonny Cheeba: I think it kind of came down to cats getting caught up in a whole lot of bad paperwork. The paperwork from Profile to Arista and then Arista wasn’t diggin our vision, they seen something else for us so we had gotten a release off there and within that time you’re not seeing our face in the place no more, music you ain’t hearing, no videos on the tube, I think that’s what really went down to be honest with you.Geechie Suede: Yeah definitely, I agree with those time gaps in between, just bad decisions too bruh. And one of those things that I always look back on Profile sold the label after “Luchini” the time Uptown Saturday Night took off  they didn’t waste no time selling the label so we ain’t really even feel our lifespan off that record on that particular label. So really all we ever needed was a solid platform to present our s**t on and you know I feel like everything will be alright man…everything will be alright.AllHipHop.com: Let me ask you what ultimately made y’all decide to roll with SRC because I’m sure y’all had other options as well?Sonny Cheeba: Well, it was a couple of other cats biting at us, biting at Lo, but SRC was the ones who was moving the quickest. We supposed to have did a Warner [Bros.] thing but it was moving  slow motion right before the SRC. SRC, they pretty much jumped on it, seen what we was talking about and that was basically it.Geechi Suede: Yeah, they felt our vision also, we felt their vision and we were able to do a situation where we got our own combined with theirs with the Soul Fever. Being in the game for [the] length of time we have I feel it’s only right that we progress in that manner ’cause I mean s**t, why else would we be doing it? So we got our own little situation bubbling with them as well and you know we got some artists we’re working with so we’re pushing forward bruh.AllHipHop.com: Let me ask you this final question, how do y’all stay sharp? ‘Cause I’m sure some of the peers that y’all came in the game with over the years their skills kinda declined but y’all have been able to stay consistent. What do y’all attribute that to?Sonny Cheeba: Cats enjoy making music that’s first off regardless of what. And we don’t have no blueprint, we follow no guidelines of what’s going on at the time so we do it our way, how we been doing it, I think that’s where our consistency stays; keeping that new flow every time. We don’t like to flow over the same beat…we got could rock two 8s on one joint and the flows will switch up four times per dude.Geechie Suede: I agree with Cheeb all the way as far as like we don’t look outside of our sphere when we’re creating we just always stay I guess it’s not a problem to me bruh when we came out with “Coolie High” in ’97 it still feel like that to me man and that’s a good thing ‘cause I know I’m trapped in that Black Hollywood s**t you know what I’m saying so I’m good with that. We just stay within our own sphere, we don’t look at anything exterior to ourselves to judge whether we gonna make a move or not. We just do what we do so it’s a good thing man, it’s a good formula.Camp Lo “Coolie High” Video

Lydia Harris Launches New Label; Tell All Death Row Documentary

Contested Death Row co-founder Lydia Harris has disclosed plans to re-enter the industry with the launch of Lady Boss Entertainment, her first label and venture since the collapse of Death Row.

The first single “Make It Flurry” is courtesy of the New Jersey based group Movin Music Platoon (MMP) and is due out on iTunes September 9.

The group first gained attention last year via the single “Picture Wit Me” which featured Jim Jones.

Acquiring a valuable distribution deal with Universal Records, Harris explained that MMP is the perfect group to showcase her fledgling label’s identity.

“Just like when we started Death Row, my only goal was to find a solid act with strong music; and I did with MMP,” Harris states. “After hearing just three songs, I decided that ‘Make It Flurry’ would be LBE’s debut record.”

Harris was embroiled in a two decade long legal battle with Marion “Suge” Knight over the rightful ownership of Death Row Records.

Harris’ lawsuit claimed to have co-founded Death Row with then husband Michael “Harry-O” Harris and Knight in 1991.

After the label’s quick rise to superstardom, Harris alleged that Knight cut her and husband Harry-O out of their rightful profit shares.

In 2005, Harris won a $107 million dollar judgment which forced Knight to file for bankruptcy protection.

On June 27, 2008 the courts ordered the label sold for $24 million, as all appeals to save the label had been exhausted.

With legal matters resolved, Harris now has the go-ahead to release a new book and DVD entitled Married to the Game, which reveals previously confidential information about how she and Harry-O started Death Row, signed Dr. Dre, and initially recruited Suge Knight as an artist manager.

“Now that the case is over, I am re-editing the DVD with information I could not share before,” Harris explained. “I cannot wait for the whole truth to finally be told.”

Movin Music Platoon’s “Make It Flurry” will be available on iTunes September 9.

Lydia Harris’ DVD and book Married to the Game is set for a November 2008 release.

Three 6 Show Ends In Violence; Fans Fight Security

A Hollywood performance featuring Oscar-winning rap group Three 6 Mafia erupted in chaos, after fight broke out between fans and security guards earlier this morning (September 4).

Three 6 Mafia, known for recording hit records like “Tear the Club Up,” “Let’s Start a Fight” and their latest hit single “Lolli Lolli (Pop That Body),” was performing at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, when some members of the crowd started fighting with security guards.

According to local police, the incident started at the end of the concert and sent hundreds of patrons scrambling for safety.

During the melee, a woman was trampled and had to be treated a local hospital for injuries to her leg.

According to reports famed Sunset Boulevard was shut down in both directions after the brawl so police could conduct an investigation.

Two men were arrested in the chaos, one for public drunkenness, the other on an outstanding warrant.

In 2003, a Pittsburgh man sued Three 6 Mafia after he was severely beaten at a show, claiming the group’s lyrics incited the crowd to assault him.

The man, who was 19-years-old at the time, suffered a fractured jaw, after audience members knocked him to ground, struck him with a chair and kicked him in the face during the group’s song “Let’s Start a Riot.”

Three 6 Mafia, who are credited with popularizing “Crunk” music, ended up settling the case out of court for an undisclosed amount.

Pretty Ricky: Lock Up Your Ladies

As a camera-shy journalist, there have been very few moments in my career that I have wished a video camera was present during an interview. While sitting in front of the four members of the Miami-based group, Pretty Ricky – in the Midtown Manhattan offices of Atlantic Records – I wish I had brought one to capture the comedic scene. Sprawled out on separate black leather couches, in a fashion reminiscent of a Roman eating grapes, group members and brothers, Diamond Blue “Baby Blue” Smith and Spectacular Blue Smith would be the first to greet me. The tiresome day of press has seemingly exhausted member, Corey “Slick ‘Em” Mathis, who lays sleeping facedown on the hard office floor with no pillow. Slick ‘Em’s slumber would not last long though, and he would eventually awaken to remove his shirt and notify the room that he was not wearing “any drawers.”  To my right sits quietly Pretty Ricky’s newest recruit, 4Play/Ambition, a beefy crooner, also known as “12 Pack,” for obvious reasons. I was notified quickly, however, by the other group members that no questions will be answered by 4 Play. “He doesn’t talk. He just sings.”After a releasing a slue of hit singles off of their platinum selling debut album, Bluestars, and their gold certified sophomore album, Late Night Special, the pretty boys are back with Eighties Babies slated for an October 14th release. Closely guarded by their oversized security guard, who stands ever presently behind them, we talk sex, music, ladies, former member Pleasure P, R. Kelly and the eighties babies making babies?AllHipHop.com Alternatives: For those of our audience that still might not be familiar with your music, how would you describe yourselves? Baby Blue: I’m gonna set it off. This is ya boy Baby Blue A.K.A. “Diamond Blue, A Girls Dream Come True, I Wanna Make Love To You, Be With You, Marry You, Cuddle Up With You And Then Knock Boots With You.” That’s all I wanna do. You already know. This album is called Eighties Babies and you can best believe we ain’t forget about them ’90s Babies or them ’70s Babies.Spectacular: Yea, yea, this is ya boy Spectacular A.K.A “Spectacular Six-Pack,” A.K.A. “L.L. Spectacular.” ‘Cause the ladies do love me. Slick Em: Yea, Slick ‘Em Hound AKA “Gemini Bluestar” Baby. A.K.A. “He Ain’t Freakier Than Me, I’ll Suck That P*ssy Ass Down.”

“One thing about Pretty Ricky is we’re not like these other artists or

producers. We don’t go into the studio with all these different artists

and producers. All these Pretty Ricky songs be real life stories and

fantasies come true.” – Baby Blue

Baby Blue: [points to 4Play] And last but not least, we got 12 Pack over there. He don’t speak, he don’t talk, he don’t even know English, all he do it sing. Hit her with a little something, 12 Pack….4Play: [sings a capella] “Late night I thought back/when we made good love/Listenin’ to some Pretty Ricky/all night long…”Baby Blue: That’s from a single we did called “Knockin’ Boots” and we premiered the video on PrettyRicky.com. So, all you ladies can go online and get that. If you preorder the album too, you get a Pretty Ricky “Cuddle Up” ringtone and an MP3 of “Knock Ya Boots.” If y’all want any info on Pretty Ricky, you can text PR to 50505.AHHA: Tell me a little about the direction you guys wanted to take this new album in?Baby Blue: I’m gonna tell you a little something about this new album – It’s sensational. Incredible. Phenomenal. On top of all those things, the music just feels so good. One thing about Pretty Ricky is we’re not like these other artists or producers. We don’t go into the studio with all these different artists and producers. All these Pretty Ricky songs be real life stories and fantasies come true. Pretty Ricky be original, Baby. We do this in our sleep. We go into the studio, dim the lights down, light some candles and make it pretty real. We fo’ real out here. We make love in the club, fo’ real. All of us [are] single. We ain’t got wedding rings on. We ain’t sitting at the front row of basketball games loved all up. Pretty Ricky is single, ready to mingle, looking for baby-mommas with drama. You know what I’m talkin’ about? All of us single like a dolla bill. Spectacular: Ladies, if you wanna hit us up, you can call us on our hotline at (786) 258-6074.AHHA: Since you guys write your own songs, what’s that writing process like for you all?Baby Blue: It ain’t even a process. It ain’t even about music to us. It’s just about capturing the moment. If you listen to a Pretty Ricky album, you’ll understand Pretty Ricky is a lifestyle. That lifestyle that you have when the lights go out and you close your door and nobody knows what goes on in-between [sings] the sheets. That’s Pretty Ricky. This is real. Spectacula: Our Daddy had 13 kids, so you already know. This ain’t some concocted group or image…Slick Em: [laughs] I ain’t got no drawers on right now. AHHA: How does this new album differ from your previous releases?Baby Blue: The last albums was like we were in elementary school, then middle school, then skip high school, skip college and now we in the pros. We just make music. We don’t know what we do, why we do it; we just do it. So, ladies, if y’all love Pretty Ricky make sure y’all go get that album.Spetacular: Matter of fact, they can go ahead and pre-order it on PrettyRicky.com. AHHA: How has life changed for you guys since first signing your record deal?Baby Blue: Ain’t nothing changed, baby. That’s why we named Pretty Ricky. Let me tell you how we got that name. We were so fly in school. When we went to school and hit the hallways the girls would say, “Pretty Ricky is what they call ‘em” from that [Martin episode]. That’s how fly we was. I was so fly I had a Versace Week. Slick Em: We were just like a household name, the talk of our neighborhood and with girls. That’s really how we got the deal. [They] seen us perform and the girls flipping over police cars, tearing the stage down, beating up security guards, just to try and get to us. We didn’t even have a video. So, of course they thinking if we can have all that without even a video, imagine with a video.

“I didn’t wear no rubber, and the girl got pregnant. She had a miscarriage though. I loved that girl.” – Baby Blue

AHHA: So, what’s been the biggest lesson you’ve learned in the game, thus far?Baby Blue: Biggest lesson? Make sure you wear a condom! First time I came to New York, let me tell you about it. We ain’t even had a deal yet, we was just up here for a meeting, but we had been having fans since before signing that deal and there were them girls at the hotel. I didn’t wear no rubber, and the girl got pregnant. She had a miscarriage though. I loved that girl. All my baby-mommas out there, I love y’all. AHHA: Has your hometown of Miami influenced your music at all?Baby Blue: It ain’t even about Miami influencing us. We done traveled the world and are international artists. Bottom-line is Pretty Ricky love the ladies and the ladies love Pretty Ricky. We talk about getting married, breaking up and making back up. We talk about good sex, bad sex. We talk about lap dances. You give me a lap dance and I’ll give you a lap dance butt-naked, we sucking, you suckin’, we lovin’, you lovin, all day. AHHA: [laughs] I’m noticing you guys shouting out the ladies a lot…Spectacular: Everything we do, we do for [our fans]. I want them to keep in touch with us. From anything we got going on, TV appearances, contests, everything, we like to keep in touch with them. A lot of people don’t appreciate their fans. But without them we wouldn’t be nothin’. Baby Blue: Let me tell you somethin’, that PrettyRicky.com is that new You Tube, that new Myspace, that new Facebook. Girls, go check it out and become a member, you’re gonna love it. It’s a Secret Society. Slick, tell em’ about it…SlickEm: All the fans, I just want to reach out and touch em’.  All of em’. I swear, every girt I’ve ever had sex with has bought at least ten albums. We love em’. AHHA: Former member, Pleasure P, is no longer a member of the group. What’s the story behind his leaving?Baby Blue: Nah, we don’t got a member that left. We got a member that’s still on our record label, Blue Star Entertainment International. We just turned down half a million for his contract. He’s a signed artist. Pretty Ricky is moving forward and he’s still on the label. AHHA: Are there any hard feelings between you and Pleasure P now?Baby Blue: Nah, He’s our brother. It’s all business, baby. This is the music business. AHHA: I know you said 4 Play doesn’t speak, but can I ask him how he joined the group?Baby Blue: He don’t talk!SlickEm: He can’t talk. He don’t do nothing. He just hang. Baby Blue: We found him in the bushes. 4 Play, his falsetto is ridiculous. He just sings. AHHA: What sets Pretty Ricky apart from all the other male groups that are currently out there?Baby Blue: We don’t compare to other groups. We reign supreme. Pretty Ricky is the Number One group in the world. Slick Em: Not to sound arrogant or cocky, but there really ain’t no competition. Any other group out there is just taking from our trends that we do. So, they paying homage to us. Get what I’m saying? Like it was back in the day with Jodeci, Boys II Men, that’s when music was real good. Back in the days. Kids ain’t got no real music now. We listen to Bob Marley, 50, T.I., Lil Wayne, anybody who makes good music. R. Kelly…AHHA: Speaking of R. Kelly, what do you think about him recently being acquitted?Pretty Ricky: [Group in unison] Age ain’t nothing but a number!Spectacula: I mean, we all humans at the end of the day. At the end of the day, young girls mess with other guys and older guys mess with young girls. AHHA: Ok, what about a ten year old girl? If age is just a number…SlickEm: Nah, that’s just wrong… [laughs] If you 37 and she ten years old.Spetacula: We sayin’ different cultures have different ages for sexual activity. In London it’s 16 and here it’s 18. Baby Blue:  It depends on the culture. And in some other territories, it’s younger than that. In America the age is a little higher, but all around the world it’s not the same. You know what I’m sayin’? And we been all around the world…

“Not to sound arrogant or cocky, but there really ain’t no competition.

Any other group out there is just taking from our trends that we do.

So, they paying homage to us. Get what I’m saying? Like it was back in

the day with Jodeci, Boys II Men, that’s when music was real good.” – Slick ‘Em

AHHA: Do you guys consider yourselves a boy band?Baby Blue: We a boy band, a group, whatever you wanna call it. Let me tell you something, for those out there that might have it twisted. This ain’t about music. These girls don’t love us ‘cause we make good music. They appreciate the music, but they love what they building on. They love all these Pretty Ricky tattoos everybody got. Everybody got. Even who you just asked about. They love the clique. We that clique that they wanna be. Who are all the individual members of the Bloods or the Crips? Ain’t nobody know, but they got a following. Pretty Ricky got a following. All around the world, you got girls with Pretty Ricky tattoos. It’s real out here and it ain’t got nothing to do with all that extra stuff. The clique is that deep. Secret Society, Baby.AHHA: What’s the craziest thing a fan has ever done to get your attention?Baby Blue: You know, it’s a Secret Society…Slick Em: They do everything, from hiding in the bus, hiding in our rooms – they do everything. In Detroit they were laying in front of the limo ‘cause they didn’t want us to leave and then they were attacking the police. Spetacular: Word, they was getting arrested. Baby Blue: We wish the police would be more considerate of them, but that don’t make or break us. We love em’. [The fans] know we love em’ and know we’d do anything for them.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Gay Soulja Boy Sex Tape? Nivea and Wayne Engaged?

DISCLAIMER:

All content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.

SOULJA BOY G###### TAPE?

What the hell? Now, I have to admit, I got the first notice that Soulja Boy had a g###### tape. WHAT-EVER. That’s just some hater stuff and I won’t even entertain it. But then there was the other email that I got and that one was more telling. That one had an image that appeared to be Soulja Boy getting “a professional” by another male. Now, in this era of Photoshop, this TOO could be nothing but the work of haters. The issue is this: there are about three videos that curious fanatics and download to see the “tape” first hand. Now, here I am – not that curious. So, sadly, I am not the one that will be refuting that rumor, but I am sure there is somebody that will. The pic looked like it could have been Photoshopped, but what’s the video saying? I can’t answer that.

ME, SHELZ AND DRAMA

Check this out, duns! I know there are some of you that don’t agree with what I feel about stuff and that’s OK. I don’t want you to agree with me on everything and I am not even here to convince you. Me, Drama and Shelz are here to speak our piece and deliver these here rumors! If you don’t like the opinions, I love the emails so keep sending them to ah*******@***il.com.

THE REAL REASON FOR NOT SEEING 50 CENT IN THE MOVIE COMMERCIAL:

Check out what a dude pushing 50’s movie had to say about yesterday’s rumor:

Illseed what’s good homie, I just had to reach out and holla to clear up some misconceptions about Righteous Kill as I’m promoting it online. The main reason for 50’s lack of visibility in the new campaign is because the studio doesn’t want to mislead viewers into thinking 50 has a starring role, which he doesn’t. Trust me, these people wouldn’t know who’s hood or not in a million years. They are smart enough to see the possible backlash when the hood goes to see the movie and gets to complaining because they were lead to believe 50 was one of the stars. Hope that clears up some confusion. I’m going to a screening tomorrow so I’ll let you know how it REALLY goes down…

I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE ____ AND _____ AT THE VMA’S!

I can’t even tell you all who from Planet Hip-Hop is going to be at the VMA’s but I can tell you that it will be huge. Sooooo…big! How can I put this? Lets say…if Hip-Hop representatives for Barack Obama and Kevin Powell were to hit the stage at MTV, we’d be well represented. Is that hint enough? At any rate…the smart people will get it.

THE DUDE THAT ROBBED FLOYD MAYWEATHER.

He is going to get caught. I wonder if he will snitch on the other two dudes when they capture him.

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

I love the Guiliani talk about women’s right when he dogged out his last three wives. LMAO! I’m not going to say too much, i don’t want people to cry too much.

Shout out to Young Jeezy. I heard he mentions AllHipHop on his new CD. Don’t worry. I don’t think you are messing up Hip-Hop, play boy! (somebody tell me what song that was on!)

Rumor has it Lil Mama just got down with Yums, the clothing company that has a shoe with Soulja Boy.

Kwame Kilpatrick expected to plead guilty at 9 am today. I heard he is going to send in his plea by text message. OMG…that was so tasteless. Detroit can’t hate me though. AHH just did a 4-part series on their rap scene!

Singer/actor Tyrese said he passed out trying to keep up with Will Smith to lose weight. Will hits 40 this month, if I am correct. That’s what up!

Tiger Woods and wife Elin Nordegren will havae their second kid later in the winter. Congrats!

Katie Holmes, wife of Tom Cruise, might be pregnant again!

Rev. Run recently stated that he will never do anything as Run DMC since JMJ was killed. But, what I don’t get is why can he do the Run DMC hits with f**kin’ Kid Rock and not DMC. I mean, lets keep it real here! Kid Rock cool…but, DMC he is not.

The Juelz Santana “jack” is allegedly on video tape so I wonder if he was telling the truth or not.

Am I totally wrong in saying that Daddy Yankee was totally irrelevant until he jumped on McCain’s tip? I heard he’s released a song called “Fiesta Americana.” He’s milking this one. Pause for the cause. Click here to see the Repubs diss Obama at the RNC.

LMAO – I heard that Usher doing a line of “men’s undergarments.” WTF is that? Hey man, those are called underwear or, in my case, drawers (drawls).

RANDOM QUOTES

Joe Budden speaks on the Yung Berg chain:

“That chain ain’t cost $70 thousand. Let start seeing some receipts around here. These dudes is going to the spi-dot and getting the fake bulls**t. That chain is a big piece of bulls**t. It’s a big Transformer face. What is the point of it. ”

[LMAO AT Budden clowning Yung Berg’s twin darker brother! What is wrong with him? Doesn’t he know that these bullets fly from the Chi? Also, Joe Budden talked to Angela Yee about the rumors that he might be signing to Black Wall Street. Now, Angela said that Joe’s demeanor looked “nervous” like he couldn’t talk about it. But, he denied that they were talking about any signing anybody to anything. Click here to see Budden talk about ending the beef with The Game.]

BACK ON – RE-LIVE..THE FEAR..…THE DARKER TWIN OF YUNG BERG

What happened to the bullets!? They went up…did they come back down?

Blender Magazine disses Tupac:

They call him an individual with “insane rock-star charisma,” but his music comprised of “larded records with self-mythologizing, mediocre filler.”

MORE RUMORS ON YUNG BERG’S DARKER TWIN:

Rumor has it, Yung Berg’s defender – his darker twin gun-bussin brother – is going to be coming out as a rapper really soon. In fact, I have already gotten songs that I heard are the brother. But, the fact is, I cannot authentic the authenticity of the songs. It could easily be somebody trying to get street cred by trying to be the brother of Yung Berg. Anyway, this dude could shake up the game like 50 Cent. And I don’t mean The Game shook up 50 Cent. I mean, the rap GAME. Why? He busted his gun on youtube. Imagine what he is capable of when the damn cameras aren’t on. Anyway, I anxiously await to see what he brings to the rap game.

SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AND END

Talk to me Forrest City, Arkansas. Talk TO ME! Forrest City! In your town, there is the man who has been charged with raping his 8 day-old baby. According to my girl Tenikka Smith, a local hospital got reports that a baby was sexually assaulted. Well, Forrest City police say the baby had a skull fracture in addition to the sexual assault. The baby’s mother is 15 and when the father came over, all the hell broke loose. Yes, you are following me. 18 year-old Reginald Davis, the father, allegedly raped his own 8-day old daughter.Accdrding to Tenikka, he has been charged with Rape and Second-Degree Battery. He’s being held on a $100,000 bond.

This dude needs to be put to death if this is true.

DID JEEZY GET MAD AT KEYSHIA COLE?

So as we know Young Jeezy told Vibe over the summer that Keysha Cole proposed to him and he declined her offer…well was she mad at him for telling the world their business?? Recently Radio Host Kendra G and DJ Touchtone (100.3 The Beat Philly) caught up with Young Jeezy and he gave them the update on Ms Keysha Cole!

HICK-HOP: REAL HIP-HOP

A lot of people cried foul when Cowboy Troy got up there and supported McCain, but not me! I denounce such assertions. I want you all to see and appreciate Cowboy Troy as he has made Hip-Hop history just like Will Smith, Jay-Z, Will.I.Am and Run DMC.

SHELZ – MINISTER OF DEFENSE!

The French Know Hip Hop Like You Know Hip Hop

Yo, I caught this on World Cypher and had to share. I’m not totally sure of the relevance of Rakim and some French guy discussing Eminem, but the interviewer is awesome. He seems to have some unresolved Em issues. I’m not totally sure I appreciate him calling Slick Rick a clown, but I found his delivery of English profanity quite amusing.

Vibe Says You Ain’t Ready….

Robin Thicke strongly suggested that he was unable to garner the cover of the magazine because he is white. This is the magazine’s response:

“We have a great deal of respect for Robin Thicke and his music, and we remain flattered by his desire to be on a VIBE cover. A VIBE cover is a huge milestone in any artist’s career — recent cover stars include Young Jeezy, Mariah Carey, 50 Cent, Usher, Senator Barack Obama, Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Robert De Niro, to say nothing of our 15-year history. We wish Thicke the best, and we’re glad he discusses his thoughts on race and R&B in the new October 2008 issue of VIBE.”

In other words. A cover? You? Mwa Ha Ha Haaaaaaaa! Besides Ciara is bukky nekkid on the new cover. I’m sure he didn’t think he was going to knock that to the cutting room floor.

Pepa Gets Real on Brad.

So I’m sure y’all already know that Pepa from Salt and Pepa has a book coming out and in the book she recounts moments of physical abuse from her man Brad. And we also know that Brad = Treach. Well, Ed Lover asked her on his show why she didn’t just call him by his name in the book. She said she’s had plenty of “Brads” in her life and dudes have been whopping that ass since she was a teenager, including Treach. One incident she wrote about involved him grabbing a hot iron from her and pressing it against her arm. Damn. She also said he appears to be a changed man. I wonder if that matters when she looks at the scar.

Diddy Apologizes to Alaska.

Guess he read yesterday’s rumors. Lata Peeps……

LADY DRAMA – A TIME FOR NEW LEADERSHIP

When I run for president, I am going to pick Lady Drama as my running mate. She has the s#### of Palin minus the disregard for Alaska’s polar bears! Sorry – I had to, my Repub buddies! I do my homework, kids. ILLSEED AND LADY DRAMA IN 2012!

Nivea and Wayne at it again……

Word on the street is Wayne and Nivea are on again! According to a source of mine Wayne was spotted at a recent concert in St Louis, with some lightskined curly hair chick next to the stage the whole time! My source goes on to say that the chick was said to be Nivea and she was sporting a huge diamond ring on her finger.. hmmmm….. could this mean that Wayne and Nivea are actually making it official? I sure hope not she just had a huge divorce from R&B star the dream and not for nothing her career is in the sh*tter and she should be more concerned with that! If you all remember Wayne all but made his relationship official with Nivea on BET’s Blueprint special which aired earlier this year!

I always thought Hip-Hop dudes were freaks but….This by far is over the top!

I’m hearing that Page Six is reporting some hip hop mogul secretly tapes his sexual encounters with females! While this info was displayed as a blind item to protect the negro with diarrhea of the mouth, It seems they did manage to squeeze out a list of possible candidates for us to guess from! And the candidates for biggest Pervs of All Time are:

Jay-Z

Russell Simmons

Diddy

Jermaine Dupri

The person at hand is a hip hop music mogul obviously, has the camera installed in a light fixture in his bedroom and likes to record his sessions with unsuspecting ladies. Hmmm.. who do you all think it is? I’m personally got 10 on Diddy, after the whole sex olympic statement I look at him in a whole new light… no pun intended!

While we’re on blind items I also have been hearing that some MOGUL is in the process of trying to stop the bank from foreclosing on his home and is in the hole by over 5 million bucks and that’s after he has sold off most of his large assets including high end cars and jewelry… Man I wonder if the same list applies minus number 1 and 3?

R&B break for the Ladies… Brandy’s New Video… ‘Departed’

Any thoughts?

Lady Drama’s Food For Thought:

Usher is launching an all girls tour called One Night Stand….. I wonder if his wife had anything to do with inspiration for this bright idea?

Am I the only one who’s not surprised by Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather getting jacked? He flosses his sh*t more than new implants on a flat chested broad! No offense 😉

Obama’s family and Sarah Palin and her 7 month old grandson son, on a double cover of OK magazine! Politics have crossed over for real! Check it out def, a great porcelain God read!

Ken_Masters what’s up I need some daily motivation to keep me going! Don’t tell me you’re going SOFT on me 😉 But then again I guess you’re used to that! LOL Just kidding take it easy on the kid please!

That’s it for me folks go hard or go home!

HEY – BEFORE YOU GO HOME!

Check out this POW talk about being trapped and held captive as it pertains to being president. Anyway, I like Doctor Phillip Butler. Hate me, but I’m going to speak what means a lot to me.

Obviously, this dude has a first hand account of …quite a lot.

West Coast Hip-Hop Celebrated During Awards Show Next Month

Rapper Snoop Dogg and well-known rap collective Above the Law will be among the celebrities and local leaders honored during this year’s West Coast Hip-Hop Regional Awards.

The two-day event, which is slated to kick off with a meet and greet event on Oct. 24, will go beyond recognizing area movers and shakers who have made significant contribution to the music industry, according to West Coast Hip-Hop Regional Awards founder and CEO Miss SKG.

“It’s also about promoting diversity in the Hip-Hop genre, educating the public on the work of rap and Hip-Hop pioneers and to diminish the negativity associated with Hip-Hop and rap,” she told AllHipHop.com in a statement.

The Hip-Hop Regional Awards is designed to empower artists as well as honor them for their musical accomplishments and contributions to the community, while educating the public on the importance of and need for positive images associated with the Hip-Hop.

In addition to honoring West Coast artistry, the event will recognize Los Angeles City Councilman Bernard Parks and highlight health issues in the community such as to sickle cell anemia.

The emphasis on broader issues coincides with Miss SKG’s efforts to used the event as a vehicle to “implement after-school music programs and initiate scholarship programs so students can pursue their dreams in college.”

Snoop Dogg will join Above The Law and King Tee in receiving tributes during the event’s dinner show.

The second annual awards ceremony, which is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Wilshire Grand Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, will also pay homage to Latin Hip-Hop music.

Actress Porsha Coleman, Julio G and comedian T.K Kirkland will serve as hosts, while artists like Crooked I, Glasses Malone, Colby O Donis, Strong Arm Steady and others will also be celebrated at the Regional Awards.

The Game #2 Due To SoundScan Reporting Error

Earlier reports of stating that The Game’s album L.A.X. was the best selling album in the country have turned out to be incorrect, due to an error in Neilsen’s Soundscan reports.

According to a representative for SoundScan, the company’s original sales figures were off, due to the Labor Day holiday weekend, which caused a delay in sales data, which was posted online.

Metal group SlipKnot’s album All Hope Is Gone actually took the #1 spot on Billboard’s Top 200 Album’s chart, selling 239,516 copies.

The Game’s third album L.A.X. sold 238,382 copies and was beaten out by only 1,134 units.

Although he scored a controversial #2 chart position on The Game still landed a #1 chart debut for a third time, topping the Hip-Hop/R&B Chart.

Adamant to fans and media alike this will be his last album, Game feel assured that this album is a fitting end to his legacy as a solo artist and quiets critics who questioned his songwriting ability.

“Being #1 for the third time makes me feel good, especially since I put my all into this album,” a proud Game explained to AllHipHop.com. “There should be no doubt by the critics if a label, producer or hook singer can stagger my ability to make songs or an album. I hope my fans enjoy this one more than others, because this one defines me, my life, and my place in Hip-Hop.”

On iTunes alone, the album sold 130, 000 copies the first day of release.

L.A.X. features a staggering guest list of today’s top Hip-Hop and R&B stars: Lil Wayne, Nas, Ice Cube, DMX, Ludacris, Common Raekwon, Chrisette Michele, Raheem DeVaughn, Bilal, Ne-Yo, LaToya Williams, and Keyshia Cole.

Game’s third album L.A.X. is available now in stores and through iTunes download.

T-Pain Joins Negro League Benefit CD

Platinum selling hit-maker T-Pain is moving his digital-only label Nappy Boy into the realm of philanthropy, as the songwriter has formally announced a licensing partnership with the community-oriented Stadium Entertainment.

Stadium Entertainment is a full service entertainment company founded in 2006 by industry veterans/producers Gary Katz (Steely Dan, Chaka Khan, Steppenwolf), Camille Barbone (Madonna, Grace Jones, Gladys Knight), and Jerome Mas.

The first project from this partnership is the CD compilation True to the Game, which is helmed by the lead single “Beam Me Up” featuring T-Pain, Rick Ross, and Nappy Boy artist Tay Dizm.

A portion of sales from the album will be used in fundraising initiatives for the Kansas City-based Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

Though T-Pain is not normally associated with socially conscious endeavors, Stadium Entertainment founder Gary Katz feels that this new partnership will give T-Pain the opportunity to reveal another side of his personality to fans.

“We’ve created a new business model,” Katz detailed to AllHipHop.com. “Where the artists, their music and worthy charities can come together to participate in projects that have a profound impact on the lives of others.”

Nappy Boy co-founder David Abram agreed with this, stating that philanthropy can be practical and have a place in today’s urban music market.

“We embrace out-of-the-box thinking, and we felt that Stadium Entertainment exemplifies this,” Abram explained. “Gary, Camille, and Jerome have developed an incredible vision that calls upon their collective intellectual currency and practical experience. We knew, almost from the start, that working with them and helping further Stadium’s philanthropic thrust would result in creating an exciting new business model and we’re excited to be a part of it all.”

The single “Beam Me Up” is currently receiving almost 500 spins each week on urban radio.

Its distribution is solely through digital sales and Nappy Boy has agreements with major online retailers iTunes, Napster, LaLa, and Liquid Digital.

Also, additional revenue from the single is being created through ringtones and licensing agreements such as the one with Stadium Entertainment.

True to the Game will be available October 21 and features additional appearances from Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Akon, Big Boi, Chingy, Talib Kweli, and Yung Joc.
