From Reality Star To Historian: Kim Kardashian’s Deep Dive Into Elizabeth Taylor’s Legacy

Kim Kardashian is set to produce a docuseries about Elizabeth Taylor. The reality star/fashion mogul has announced that she will executive produce an upcoming docuseries about the Hollywood icon. The 43-year-old will also feature in the project.

The docuseries, which has been given the working title “Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar,” has been commissioned by the BBC and will consist of three parts.

“Elizabeth Taylor was unapologetically herself, a fighter,” Kim Kardashian said in a statement. “She is proof that you can keep evolving and changing and have different chapters in your life – and she paved the way for all of us who came after her with that blueprint.”

The Skims founder conducted the last interview with the “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof ” star before her death in March 2011. According to Deadline, the docuseries will explore Elizabeth’s legendary acting career as well as her work as a businesswoman, advocate and activist.

In addition to Kim Kardashian, the interviews will feature Dame Joan Collins and her close friends Margaret O’Brien and Carole Bayer Sager. BBC commissioning editor Alistair Pegg said of the project, “This exciting series promises a new understanding of Elizabeth Taylor – both her technique and power as an actor, and her capacity for reinventing herself.”

The release date for “Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar,” which is still in production, has not yet been announced.

Grammy Gaffe: Nicki Minaj’s Premature Victory for ‘Barbie World’ Sparks Outrage

Fans of Nicki Minaj thought the rap star won her first Grammy tonight, but unfortunately, taking home an award still eludes the Queen’s rapper.

Earlier in the day, The Recording Academy’s official account tweeted that Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s song “Barbie World” from the Barbie World the Album won Best Rap Song this year.

Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice collaborated on the hit single “Barbie World,” which served as the fourth single from “Barbie: The Album.” The track also features Aqua, who sang the original version of the tune.

The song achieved commercial success, peaking at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was featured in the film’s end credits, marking a standout moment for both artists in the year.

Her fans are up in arms because the tweet was premature and utterly wrong because Killer Mike’s album Michael swept the Rap categories, taking home Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance.

Killer Mike’s song “Scientists & Engineers” beat out “Barbie World,” “Just Wanna Rock” by Lil Uzi and “Rich Flex” by 21 Savage and Drake.

The flub has sparked severe backlash since Nicki’s fans were excited because she has never won a Grammy Award. Apparently, Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s “Barbie World” was also erroneously posted as the winner on the Grammys’ official website.

“idc if you like nicki or not but please put stan stuff aside and just think rationally for a second… so you’re telling me the Grammys website which had all the other right winners somehow made a mistake with barbie world…? which never happened EVER before..?,” one angry Barb wrote on Twitter

“mistakenly” updated nicki’s grammy artist profile with a win. mistakenly” announced her as the winner via the official grammy page. mistakenly updated google w/ barbie world being the winner…@RecordingAcad is fraudulent,” another disappointed user raged.

Killer Mike’s “Michael” Album Dominates Grammys Rap Categories: “It’s A Sweep”

Killer Mike returned to the Grammy spotlight with his 2023 album Michael, sweeping three of the rap categories at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

His achievement marked a significant moment, as he took home the prestigious awards for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance, all accolades stemming from his work on Michael and its standout single “Scientists & Engineers,” which features collaborations with André 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane.

Competing against a strong field of contenders, including Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss, Metro Boomin’s Heroes & Villains, Nas’s King’s Disease III, and Travis Scott’s Utopia, Killer Mike emerged victorious.

In his acceptance speech, Killer Mike embraced the magnitude of his victory, proclaiming, “Atlanta, It’s A Sweep!” a nod to both his city’s vibrant music scene and his personal journey.

“You cannot tell me that you get too old, you can’t tell me it’s too late, you can’t tell me dreams come true. It is a sweep!” Killer Mike said.

This year’s success was particularly poignant, coming two decades after his first Grammy win in 2003 for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for his feature on Outkast’s “The Whole World.”

Issa Rae Is Pessimistic On Hollywood Diversity Without Accountability

Issa Rae has had enough of what she sees as a lack of true diversity on screen. The actress has spoken out against systemic racism and a lack of opportunity for Black professionals within the movie and TV industries.

“You’re seeing so many Black shows get canceled, you’re seeing so many executives… get canned,” Issa told Porter magazine. “You’re seeing very clearly now that our stories are less of a priority.”

Issa, who also starred in “American Fiction” and “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” in 2023, explained she partly attributes the decreasing diversity in Hollywood storytelling to the rise of streaming services and its algorithmic drivers.

“I am pessimistic because there’s no one holding anybody accountable,” the 39-year-old said. “I can’t force you to make my stuff.”

The actress, who is also a successful writer and producer in addition to her thriving acting career, said she had noticed a tendency in Hollywood to tell only those stories about Black communities that portray disadvantage, trauma and dysfunction. And she attributed this directly to white audiences’ appetite for those kinds of depictions.

“I don’t think it’s a secret that many white audiences and critics tend to reward traumatizing depictions or their own biased perceptions of what Blackness is,” Issa said. “It’s frustrating.”

EXCLUSIVE: Jam Master Jay Trial – Prosecutors Fear Witness Will Refuse To Testify, Threaten Man With 20 Years In Jail

An unidentified witness who is having second thoughts about testifying in the trial of Jam Master Jay’s alleged killers could end up in prison for two decades. Prosecutors fear one of the upcoming witnesses may refuse to testify and warn they will bring criminal charges against anyone who changes their mind.

“The government is prepared to bring federal criminal charges of obstruction of justice against this witness should he refuse to testify – and any other witness who refuses to testify at trial – and to seek a term of imprisonment of up to 20 years,” United States Attorney Breon Peace explained.

Prosecutors have 25 civilian witnesses lined up for the trial, as well as 13 law enforcement witnesses who will testify.

Karl Jordan Jr. and Ronald Washington are charged with the 2002 murder of Run-DMC’s Jam Master Jay. Recent court proceedings have shed light on the intricate details surrounding the case.

Uriel Rincon, another victim injured on the night of the murder, testified, identifying Jordan as the shooter. Rincon’s testimony is pivotal, marking him as the first eyewitness to directly link Jordan to the crime, with Washington accused of complicity.

Rincon recounted the moments leading to the shooting, describing a deceptive gesture of friendship before the fatal shots were fired.

In addition to Rincon’s testimony, prosecutors have presented evidence suggesting Jordan’s admission to the murder in conversations with a witness, further bolstering their case against the defendants.

They depicted a scenario where Jordan, alongside Washington, was allegedly involved in narcotics trafficking with the late DJ, hinting at a motive tied to a drug deal gone sour.

This narrative is supported by claims of Jam Master Jay planning to distribute cocaine with the accused, a plan derailed when a dealer in Baltimore refused to work with Washington, allegedly leading to the exclusion of Jordan and Washington from a lucrative deal.

The prosecution argues that this exclusion served as the motive for the murder, suggesting it was executed with the help of a third defendant, Jay Bryant, who will be tried separately.

The trial began with the prosecutors arguing that greed and revenge were the driving forces behind the murder. They allege that Jordan and Washington were cut out of a significant drug deal by Jam Master Jay, leading to the fatal shooting in what was described as an “ambush” and “execution.”

This argument is juxtaposed with defense claims challenging the credibility of the prosecution’s witnesses and suggesting the lack of conclusive evidence directly linking the defendants to the crime. Despite these defenses, both Jordan and Washington face a minimum of 20 years in prison if convicted, with prosecutors opting not to seek the death penalty.

Megan Thee Stallion To Drop New Album Just In Time For Summer Tour

Megan Thee Stallion is set to hit the road this summer with her first solo tour. Fresh off the release of her Nicki Minaj diss track “Hiss,” the rapper has come in hot with the news she’ll be touring solo over the summer.

While she’s currently still working on her as-yet-untitled studio album, Megan, 28, popped into “Good Morning America” and let slip she’s ready to get on stage.

“Oh, we’re having the tour this year,” she said. “The Hot Girl Summer tour is going to be 2024, summertime.” Having spent the previous few years’ summers working on albums, Megan’s goal now is to complete the next one in time to kick off her tour schedule.

“I feel like I’ve never been able to be outside doing my own thing during the summer, since like 2019,” she explained. “So this is going to be the first time that I drop an album on time for the summer. I do want to give the hotties the Megan Thee Stallion experience.”

Megan also opened up about the 2022 trial she was a part of after being shot in the foot by rapper Tory Lanez. He pulled the trigger and shot at her feet during a disagreement at a pool party. The aftermath, she said, had been brutal – with the backlash from Tory’s fans almost leaving her unable to return to music.

“It was really rough because for the past couple years, music just seemed so negative to me,” Megan said. “I just wasn’t in a good space mentally after everything that had happened to me and it just all felt like, ‘I’m tired of this. I’m tired of fighting.’ But I had to tell myself, you know what, I don’t want to give up.”

Halle Bailey Reveals: Boyfriend DDG Behind Son’s Heavenly Name

Halle Bailey has revealed boyfriend DDG chose their newborn son’s name. The couple’s first child, Halo, was born in December.
Halle has spoken for the first time about how they chose the unusual moniker.

“It was actually my boyfriend’s idea,” Halle Bailey told People magazine. “He’s the one who came up with his name. We just agreed, and we loved it. I love the name Halo.”

The 23-year-old also opened up about how she’s dealing with becoming a mum for the first time.

“It’s so exciting, this new role for me,” Halle Bailey said. “I’m obsessed with my baby boy. He’s the sweetest angel in the world. It’s really helping me as I go into this new journey because I’ve never done this before. I’m discovering so many different things about myself. It’s like a dream come true.”

Halle Bailey and DDG, 26, have been dating for two years. They had previously come under fire for keeping Halle’s pregnancy a secret until Halo was born.

Halle defended their decision, saying “I’ll never understand why you are mad I protected my own peace, wouldn’t you do the same?”

Keke Palmer Plans Private Life for Son Amid Acting Career Countdown

Keke Palmer has hinted that she will retire from acting soon. In a new interview with Teen Vogue, the 30-year-old opened up about the future of her acting career.

“I don’t know. I think the timer has started,” Keke told the publication. “I think it’s because I just haven’t felt it yet. But the timer, I know that it’s around the corner.” She added, “I don’t know when exactly, but it’s around the corner.”

Keke found fame when she was cast as the lead in Nickelodeon’s “True Jackson, VP.” She starred in the show from 2008 to 2011. She has since gone on to star in films including 2019’s “Hustlers” and 2022’s “Alice.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the “Nope” actress shared that she plans to raise her son Leodis, whom she shares with her ex-boyfriend Darius Jackson, away from the spotlight.

“I want to raise him to know that if life is a school, get out there and learn,” Keke explained. “A part of learning in this place, I think, is to love and to know how to first be unconditionally loving to yourself so that you know how to love others and be of service to others in a way that doesn’t disadvantage them but instead empowers them.”

Keke and Darius welcomed their son in February 2023 before splitting in October of that year. The former couple have been embroiled in legal battles ever since. Last year, the actress was granted a domestic violence restraining order against Darius after she accused him of physical abuse. Meanwhile, Darius filed his own restraining order, claiming that Keke had been physically abusive towards him.

Tiffany Haddish Heading To The Morgue As Part Of DUI Plea

Tiffany Haddish has avoided jail time after pleading “no contest” to reckless driving. Her plea meant the other charges against her – including one for driving under the influence of alcohol – have been dropped, according to documents.

The comedian was placed on summary probation for one year and ordered to complete 40 hours of community service. She was also ordered to complete the “Mothers Against Drunk Driving’s Victim Impact Program” and the “HAM (Hospital and Morgue) Program.

The “Girls Trip” star was arrested in November after police found her car stopped in the middle of a busy road, Beverly Drive, in Beverly Hills, at 5:45 am. She was reportedly slumped over the wheel of her car while the engine was still running. The same thing had happened almost two years previously while she was in Atlanta, Georgia.

In December she told fans she was ready to turn over a new leaf.

“I am ready for my next chapter in life,” she wrote on Instagram as she marked her 44th birthday. “I have more music and Another Book coming and I can’t wait to share with the world all of the work I have been doing for My Family and All my Real Unicorns.”

Lizzo & Dance Captain To Face Judge Over Hostile Work Environment Allegations

Lizzo’s dancers claimed sexual harassment, fat shaming and a hostile work environment. The rapper/singer applied to have the case dismissed, but a Los Angeles judge decided there was sufficient reason to proceed to trial after all.

Three of Lizzo’s former dancers allege they were subjected to sexual harassment and fat-shaming while working for the singer.

They also said she and her dance captain, Shirlene Quigley, created a hostile work environment. Both Lizzo and Quigley are set to face the allegations, which also include claims of racial and religious discrimination.

One month after the allegations emerged in August 2023, Lizzo applied to have the lawsuit dismissed “in its entirety,” denying “each and every allegation.”

While the case will now be heard in court, a number of the dancers’ complaints were dismissed and will not be dealt with. One of these was a sexual harassment claim that arose from a nude photoshoot conducted on the singer’s reality TV series, Lizzo’s “Watch Out for the Big Grrrls.”

A disability discrimination complaint and an allegation that Lizzo‘s team prevented dancers from accepting other work were also dismissed.

Ice Spice Twitter Spaces With Fans Confirms Latto Was Target Of Subliminal “Fart” Diss?

Ice Spice fans are convinced that the rising Bronx star may have been shading Latto in her recent single, “Think U The S##t (Fart),” based on a recent virtual chat.

Earlier this weekend, Spice spent time with her listeners on Twitter (X), engaging with them during a lengthy Spaces conversation. Amid the banter, the “Deli” rapper appeared to reveal her latest viral single, affectionately truncated as #Fart, was actually a response to a possible sneak diss Latto sent her way while previewing a snippet earlier this month.

“Seeing that I’m in the back of your weak a## snippet?” Spice said. “I was like, ‘Wait a second, that’s me?’ So I’m like, ‘Since we’re talking about me, let’s talk about me,’ so I dropped that [“Fart”]. It was really just a snippet. I was like, ‘This has to be fake. This is AI.’ But b**ches be bold, so I was like, ‘Oh, we’re being bold today.’”

In the snippet Spice references, Latto and an associate can be seen sitting in front of a screen while her “Pretty Girl” music video plays in the background. To add insult to injury, during the snippet Latto raps, “I just want a one-on-one, don’t know why she so nervous.”

In reality, though, #Fart could’ve been brewing for a long time, considering tension has been building between Spice and Latto ever since the Atlanta rapper appears to snub her “Bikini Bottom” song last year in an interview clip that went viral. Not to mention Latto seemingly dissed Spice in her guest verse for Offset’s Set It Off track “FINE AS CAN BE” when she rapped “That n**ga a munch, Yo’ bookin’ fee, ate it for lunch,” along with a slew of other bars worthy of a “sneak diss” label.

B.o.B & Kato On The Track Looking For “Next Lil Nas X” Via ”ONSS” Challenge

Both B.o.B and Kato On The Track are trying to find the next Lil Nas X via their latest social media challenge—at least in a sense.

Earlier this month, Kato revealed he and B.o.B would be teaming up with events and contest platform Audius for an exclusive worldwide contest designed to connect them with an enterprising indie artist for the collaborative opportunity of a lifetime.

Dubbed the Over Night Success Story “ONSS” challenge, the contest is designed to entice artists from all corners of social media to take a chance at crafting their own viral hit over one of Kato’s masterful productions. The fateful winner of the contest will get the opportunity to travel, all expenses paid, to Atlanta to collaborate with Kato and B.o.B, create content and more.

Much like Lil Nas X did when crafting “Old Town Road” (and before he was seemingly cast into the spotlight overnight and into his MONTERO era), artists get the opportunity to pick their favorite instrumental, via Audius, and harness the power of the internet and social media to make the song an instant success. And this is one of those things where you really have nothing to lose by throwing your hat in the ring, considering streams won’t count toward Kato’s final decision on the winner of the contest.

To enter the contest, all fans have to do is create an account on Audius, purchase any ONSS instrumental from Kato and create and upload the track to their account. Once the track is uploaded, toggle the “identify as a remix” option and add the link from the original instrumental from Kato’s page and get to promoting! Everyone is encouraged to tag @KatoProducer and @bob and @audius.

Kato has released more than 65 open verse challenges thus far and was even named the fourth most dueted artist on TikTok in 2021. In 2020, he spawned the viral #SoPretty challenge, which saw countless celebrities and artists such as Alicia Keys participating with videos of their own.

Not to mention Kato’s previous No Sucka MC’s contest helped bolster the career’s of several mainstream lyricists including Joyner Lucas and Token, throughout its seven-year run. In a sense, he has the magic touch when it comes to positioning artists for immediate success and increased visibility.

Check out the video for details of the challenge here, but be swift because you only have until February 5 to submit an entry.

Kanye West’s Jason Mask Is Selling For $200K

Megan Thee Stallion Celebrates Making “HISSTORY” With Warner Music Deal

Megan Thee Stallion has started her 2024 with some huge wins. After taking over major streaming platforms with her “Hiss” single, the Houston-bred MC announced a monumental record deal.

According to reports, Megan Thee Stallion signed an “innovative agreement” with Warner Music Group. The distribution deal reportedly allows Meg to release music independently through her Hot Girl Productions. In addition, she will maintain ownership of her master recordings.

“Thank you, GOD,” the 28-year-old artist tweeted. Megan also added, “Hotties today HISSTORY was made!!! Today I signed a distribution deal with my new family @warnermusic where I maintain my INDEPENDENCE as an artist [and] OWN MY MASTERS AND PUBLISHING.”

She continued, “This is thee first deal of its kind !!! Nicki Minaj Mentions Megan Thee Stallion’s Late Mother In Her Diss Record

Megan Thee Stallion dropped “Hiss” on January 26. “Hiss” peaked at No. 1 on the iTunes all-genre chart, the Apple Music Top 100: USA chart and the Spotify Daily Top Songs USA chart. Industry forecasters project the song to debut in the Top 5 of next week’s Billboard Hot 100 chart.

“Hiss” included the line “these hoes don’t be mad at Megan/these hoes mad at Megan’s Law.” That bar, referencing the federal statute requiring law enforcement authorities to publicize the information of convicted sex offenders, seemed to cause a days-long tirade from Nicki Minaj.

In response, Minaj released “Big Foot.” She mentions Megan Thee Stallion’s deceased mother in the diss record. Meg concluded her celebratory X post by adding, “I’m forever grateful!!! Let’s REALLY KEEP RUNNING IT UP HOTTIES! Shout out to MAMA HOLLY. I know she’s guiding me through all this.”

50 Cent Warns Fans About R&B Singers Following Jacquees & Trey Songz Fight

Jacquees and Trey Songz’s fight caught the attention of 50 Cent on Friday (February 2). The G-Unit leader laughed at the situation and shared a screenshot of Jacquees’ since-deleted post about the incident on Instagram.

“These R&B [ninja emoji]’s is crazy, I told yall,” 50 Cent wrote. “No R&B LOL. I’M SORRY CAN’T PUT THEM TOGETHER. THEY THINK EVERYBODY THINK THEY SOFT So they pop off. LMAO.”

Jacquees claimed Trey Songz ripped out one of his dreads during an altercation in Dubai. Jacquees said his friend-turned-foe was banned from Atlanta – and the entire South – on X (formerly known as Twitter) and Instagram

“F### Trey Songz,” Jacquees wrote in the since-deleted Instagram post that amused 50 Cent. “Can’t come back to Atlanta. Carl Weathers, Beloved Star Of “Rocky” & Much More, Passes Away At 76

Movie star Carl Weathers, who famously portrayed Apollo Creed in the Rocky franchise, died at the age of 76 on Thursday (February 1). Weathers’ family disclosed his death in a statement issued on Friday (February 2).

“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Carl Weathers,” his family said, per Deadline. “He died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, February 1st, 2024 … Carl was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life. Through his contributions to film, television, the arts and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognized worldwide and across generations. He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, partner and friend.”

Weathers became a successful actor following a brief career in the NFL. The New Orleans native appeared in several movies and TV shows before landing his breakout role, Apollo Crowd, in the original Rocky film. Weathers reprised his role in three sequels, making himself a fixture of the franchise with Sylvester Stallone.

The esteemed actor appeared in another hit film when he starred as Al Dillon in the Arnold Schwarzenegger-led action movie Predator. Weathers also secured the lead role in Action Jackson, portraying the titular character.

Years later, Weathers showed off his comedic chops in Adam Sandler’s golf comedy Happy Gilmore. Weathers played Derick “Chubbs” Peterson, a retired golfer who coaches Sandler’s character Happy Gilmore.

Weathers bolstered his comedic reputation with a recurring role in the acclaimed TV series Arrested Development, playing a fictionalized version of himself. The Arrested Development version of Weathers was depicted as a ridiculously frugal man who agreed to be Tobias Fünke’s acting coach.

More recently, Weathers voiced Combat Carl in Toy Story 4 and joined the Star Wars universe with a role in the Disney Plus series The Mandalorian. Weathers portrayed Greef Karga and directed two episodes of the show.

Young Dolph’s Alleged Killer Desperately Seeks To Avoid Memphis Jury For Trial

Justin Johnson, one of the men accused of killing Young Dolph, aimed to prevent Memphis residents from serving on the jury in his murder trial. According to the Associated Press, Johnson’s attorney Luke Evans urged Judge Jennifer Mitchell to use jurors from outside of Shelby County, Tennessee.

Evans claimed Johnson wouldn’t receive a fair trial if the jury’s from Memphis. The attorney cited media coverage of the case and noted how Young Dolph was “beloved” in Memphis.

“A jury from somewhere else lacks that personal connection to the crime,” Evans said.

Johnson is one of the four men charged in connection to the 2021 death of Young Dolph. Johnson and his co-defendant Cornelius Smith were scheduled to face trial on March 11, but the judge pushed it back to June 3. Judge Mitchell will rule on Johnson’s motion for a change of venue on February 9.

Young Dolph was shot and killed at a Memphis bakery in 2021. Prosecutors accused Johnson and Smith of carrying out the attack. Both men pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including first-degree murder.

Hernandez Govan, the alleged mastermind behind Young Dolph’s murder, pleaded not guilty to murder charges. His trial has not been scheduled yet.

Johnson’s brother Jermarcus accepted a plea deal in the case. He awaits sentencing after pleading guilty to three counts of accessory after the fact.

Last year, Young Dolph’s longtime partner Mia Jaye was asked what justice looked like for her. She hoped to see everyone involved in his death face consequences.

“It looks like the full truth coming to the forefront, not just a fall guy, a fall that won’t be good enough,” she said. “Everybody who had any type of involvement with this being brought to justice, being brought front and center, being handed a sentence.”

Young Dolph was 36. He left behind two children with Mia Jaye.

Blueface Watches His Legal Problems Get Worse While Stuck In Jail

Blueface’s legal troubles got more complicated on Thursday (February 1). A Las Vegas judge issued a bench warrant for the controversial rapper, who’s already in custody in Los Angeles County.

The 27-year-old artist was hit with the bench warrant for violating his probation in a shooting case. Last month, he was arrested for violating his probation in a separate assault case in Los Angeles County.

Blueface’s mother Karlissa Saffold blamed Chrisean Rock and Jaidyn Alexis for his legal issues in Los Angeles County. He was on probation in California for assaulting a bouncer in 2021.

According to CBS affiliate KLAS, Blueface’s attorney Kristina Wildeveld said his Las Vegas probation violation stemmed from a December 2023 incident in Utah. Footage showed him pulling a woman on stage and ordering his on-again, off-again girlfriend Jaidyn Alexis to attack the woman at a show.

Blueface, whose real name is Johnathan Porter, intends to surrender to authorities in Las Vegas once he gets out of jail in Los Angeles County. He is scheduled to be released on July 2.

“We are working with Mr. Porter to resolve the bench warrant,” his lawyer told NBC affiliate KSNV. “He is anxious to resolve all of his legal issues and focus on his family and his career.”

Last year, Blueface was sentenced to probation for his role in a 2022 shooting outside a Las Vegas strip club. He received a suspended sentence of two to five years. He now faced the threat of serving that time behind bars due to the probation violation.

Blueface was originally charged with attempted murder for the Las Vegas shooting. He agreed to a plea deal, which reduced his charges to battery and discharging a firearm at or into an occupied structure. The shooting victim said he “lost faith in the justice system” at Blueface’s sentencing.

Taylor Swift Gets Co-Sign From “Swag Surfin'” Creators: “I Thought It Was Dope”

Taylor Swift may not be an NFL player but the pop music megastar has become the most-talked-about person connected to the Kansas City Chiefs’ current playoff run.

Broadcasters constantly showed the 12-time Grammy winner attending her boyfriend Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s games throughout the football season. Taylor Swift even got screen time for dancing to the “Swag Surfin'” single.

The Georgia-bred rap group F.L.Y. (Fast Life Yungstaz) released “Swag Surfin'” featuring Ea$ton in 2009. “Swag Surfin'” became a party anthem at many historically black colleges and universities. Additionally, other sports leagues and teams embraced the record over the years.

TMZ published a video of F.L.Y. members talking about Taylor Swift now being so closely connected to their classic tune. Mook, McFly, Vee and Ea$ton co-signed Swift and her legions of fans breathing new life into the track.

“My initial reaction to Taylor Swift swag surfin’ was I thought it was dope,” Mook stated. “I automatically knew it was going to be a good look because of who she is, what she’s got going on.”

Mook also said, “Our streams across all platforms [are] up 700%. Our YouTube numbers went up. We gained 20,000 subscribers in like two weeks. So everything is up. It’s just been a dope thing to watch everything unfold so quickly.”

Additionally, Mook suggested that this particular viral moment with Taylor Swift likely created the largest jump in streaming numbers in the song’s lifespan. F.L.Y. even proposed Swift add a rap verse to the “Swag Surfin'” track.

“Swag Surfin'” lives on Fast Life Yungstaz’s 2009 album Jamboree. The single earned gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America in June 2019. Lil Wayne famously did a freestyle to the K.E. on the Track-produced beat for his No Ceilings mixtape.

While F.L.Y. welcomes Taylor Swift swag surfin’ on television, Florida rapper Plies complained that the NFL puts the camera on the singer/songwriter too much. In contrast, former three-time Super Bowl champion Shannon Sharpe argued the league is making the right move because Swift is the biggest needle-moving celebrity since Michael Jackson.

JT Releases “Sideways” Single, Set To Drop Solo EP

JT became a Hip-Hop star as part of the Florida-bred rap duo known as City Girls alongside Yung Miami. The 31-year-old southerner has taken a bigger step as a soloist.

Today (February 2), JT dropped her “Sideways” single and music video. The Danes Blood and Ben10k-produced track serves as a precursor to an upcoming EP from the Quality Control Music/Motown recording artist.

“I’m excited about dropping solo music because I can focus more on my creativity. I love everything about being an artist!” JT states. “I just wanna chill, look good and drop pretty cocky b#### music. I’m the City Cinderella!”

The “Sideways” song follows the release of JT’s “No Bars” in July 2023. “No Bars” lives on the City Girls’ RAW album which came out on October 20 of last year. That project featured Lil Durk, Muni Long, Juicy J, Usher and Kim Petras.

“‘Sideways’ is a mood! Sometimes women are forced to be friends with everyone and if we decide to stay to our self they call us mean,” JT explains. “Most of these b###### nosey and phony! I love my b###### though, the real ones. Shout out to the real b######!”

As one-half of City Girls, JT collected a triple-platinum plaque for the “Act Up” single. Other songs like “Twerk” featuring Cardi B and “P#### Talk” featuring Doja Cat reached platinum status. A guest feature on Layton Greene and Lil Baby’s “Leave Em Alone” secured another platinum award.
