Around 2:30 am, police arrived at the location in front of an elementary school where the two men had been gunned down. The incident occurred around the time a rap concert at a nearby club was taking place.
“Unfortunately it’s one of the types that we seem to have, particularly in that area,” said police spokesman Dwight Mitchell.
Anderson and Mattingly were both taken to the University of Louisville Hospital, one believed to be facing life threatening injuries. It is not clear if either victim attended the event at Cole’s Place nightclub.
Father Jah has been an active part of the Louisville music scene for years, and he picked up the nickname “The Godfather of Kentucky Hip Hop.” Jah has released the albums Manuscripture of the Father, Mr. Myagi Meets Bigfoot Mackzilla, and Philosophies of a Modern Day Mastermind.
Police are investigating the shooting. Authorities are said to be looking for a third individual suspected to be the shooter.
