Lil Nas X, Lizzo & H.E.R. Earn Album Of The Year Grammy Nominations

The “Truth Hurts” singer leads the pack with 8 nods.

(AllHipHop News) The Recording Academy announced the nominations for the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards this morning (November 20). Rap and R&B artists were recognized in the Album Of The Year category.

Lil Nas X’s 7, Lizzo’s Cuz I Love You, and H.E.R.’s I Used To Know Her picked up AOTY nods. All three performers were also nominated for Record Of The Year (“Hard Place” — H.E.R., “Old Town Road” — Lil Nas X Featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, “Truth Hurts” — Lizzo). 

In addition, LNX and Lizzo are up for Best New Artist. That category includes Black Pumas, Billie Eilish, Maggie Rogers, Rosalía, Tank and the Bangas, and Yola.

The other projects competing for Album Of The Year are I, I by Bon Iver, Norman F*cking Rockwell! by Lana Del Rey, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? by Billie Eilish, Thank U, Next by Ariana Grande, and Father of the Bride by Vampire Weekend.

In February, Kacey Musgraves’ Golden Hour won AOTY over Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy, Brandi Carlile’s By the Way, I Forgive You, Drake’s Scorpion, H.E.R.’s H.E.R., Post Malone’s Beerbongs & Bentleys, Janelle Monáe’s Dirty Computer, and Kendrick Lamar & TDE’s Black Panther: The Album. So far, Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill (1999) and OutKast’s Speakerboxxx/The Love Below (2004) are the only Hip Hop projects to win the Grammy for Album Of The Year.
