Kanye West Speaks On Confederate Flag, Fashion & President Obama Calling Him A “Jacka**”

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West always has a lot to say about pretty much everything, and the Yeezus rapper shared his thoughts about a wide range of topics on Philly’s HOT 107.9 Morning Show with Shamara and Laiya recently.

On fashion:

I got the opportunity to create with Louis Vuitton and they only let it happen one time because it was the biggest boom. Everyone wanted those sneakers, and it was almost the moment when I got to sip the clean water for one time… I had ideas of running up in the Louis Vuitton store and knocking sh*t over cause they weren’t recognizing my ability to create and my connection with real people. They just let me do one shoe and said “you can’t do it again” and I said “no, I’m bout to turn up like Neo from the [Matrix] and ya’ll need to understand what’s about to happen here.” So when I did “New Slaves” I put my face on all these stores- these luxury brands throughout the world.

On his father:

My dad was always running up on stage and grabbing mics. My dad was definitely the dad who said “you understand when you play pool why the white ball hits the 8 ball,” but really he is psych major who is a Christian marriage counselor.

On wearing the Confederate flag:

You don’t ever know what I’m trying to do. Black people stopping other black people from getting checks. What black people don’t know is that racism is something that white people don’t even have to do anymore because we hate each other more than white people hate us. It’s like a real estate on racism- it works on itself. People got bills. Don’t nobody care about the Confederate flag on that type of level.

On being called a “jacka**” by President Barack Obama:

Just say you hate Kanye and there’s gonna be 30 other people who say they hate Kanye and that was kinda my position in culture and he kinda used that too “oh he’s a jackass” cause that’s how the world felt, but I don’t care if someone’s the President or not. I care about thoughts and how you’re helping people and what you bring to the world. My music brings joy to people. What I create brings joy to people… I think he shouldn’t mention my babymomma’s name because we both from Chicago. But no, I’m not gonna mention him no more I’m passed that. That’s out my thoughts. That’s lowering my priority of thinking at this point.

Trinidad James To Address “Every New Yorker” On New Project Dropping Today

(AllHipHop News) Atlanta rapper Trinidad James is apparently set to release his manifesto about New York City today. The “All Gold Everything” performer sent out a series of tweets over the weekend announcing he will be releasing a project called The Truth Will Set You Free specifically addressed to New York rappers and fans.

[ALSO READ: Trinidad James Says The South Runs New York]

He continued his announcement on Instagram:

To Every New Yorker. On Monday “The Truth Will Set You Free” comes out. No album…Just the truth. You gonna want to look and listen to this. God is my witness I had to pray about this. This is what you wanted so I gave it to ya. The Real.

Trinidad started another discussion about the current state of New York Hip Hop last week when he said “the South runs New York” during a performance in the Big Apple. The remarks led some NYC rappers like Maino to take shots back at Trinidad. Other rappers from the city partially agreed with Trinidad’s sentiment that southern Hip Hop dominates New York airwaves and clubs.

Nick Cannon Says Mariah Wasn’t Referring To Nicki Minaj With “Satan” Comment

(AllHipHop News) Mariah Carey created a media stir recently when the Pop diva made some cryptic comments about her time as a judge on American Idol. Speaking with Angie Martinez the “Fantasy” singer said the experience “was like going to work everyday in hell with Satan.”

[ALSO READ: Mariah Carey Jokes That Working With Nicki Minaj Was Like Working With Satan In Hell (VIDEO)]

The comments were suspected to be referring to fellow former AI judge Nicki Minaj. The two performers had a really public feud that played on the reality show. Carey’s husband Nick Cannon revealed to Access Hollywood that he does not believe the Satan remark was aimed at Minaj or any of the other judges.

“I don’t think her comment was about anyone on the panel,” said Cannon. “I don’t think she was speaking directly about [Nicki Minaj]. I think she was talking about the situation in general.”

Carey mentioned during the Martinez interview that she was surprised when American Idol producers decided to add a fourth judge on the show after she was under the impression that she would be the only female on the panel.

“The World Famous Wake Up Show Unplugged Series” Drops Two More Hot Videos [VIDEO]

As we’ve previously reported, King Tech, Sway and DJ Revolution have been dropping phenomenal videos of emerging artists over the last few weeks and this week is no exception! The World Famous Wake Up Show recently created a Hip Hop experience like none other. They took Grammy Award Winning musicians who had never played together before and paired them with emerging Hip Hop artists. The result was a day of Hip Hop genius.  They are finally rolling out the videos from that amazing day and AllHipHop.com has got the exclusives!

First up is a guy that we like to refer to as the Michael McCary of “The Wake Up Show Unplugged Series“! He had the deepest voice of all the kids who spit the day of the Wake Up Show Unplugged taping! (Michael MCary is the dope deep voiced guy in Boyz II Men who eventually left the group and who’s voice is missed on every new track! But we digress!) Gil Gatsby  came in grabbed the mic and had his way with both his flow and the music. His voice was more than deep…it was commanding and by the time he finished spitting he convinced all who had been talking with him all day that it was more than a dope tone of voice that got him there…the boy could spit gems too! Double threat! Check him out in the video below!

Next is a kid that stepped to the mic with a laid back yet serious super West Coast vibe! He unloaded on the mic in such a way that made all in the room sort of release a quick and much needed exhale and bob their heads along with his flow. For all who had come from far away to be there…R-mean‘s rhyme scheme was the very definition of California rap that they had hoped to hear someone spit! While there were several Left Coast artists in the room, no one quite captured the LA essence as in the case of R-mean! But the craziest part of it all is, that while he is from LA… he grew up overseas! We love stories like that! See what we mean below!

Well there you go! Two very different and very dope performances! Through the coming weeks there will be even more of them so stay tuned!

Check out www.wakeupshow.com  for new updates on both the “Wake Up Show Unplugged” project and to keep up with Tech, Sway and Rev about what’s going on with their show on Sirius XM/ Shade 45! You can also follow them on Twitter at @wakeupshow. Don’t forget to tune in Monday nights, Shade 45 on Sirius XM at 8 PM ET/ 5 PM PT!

ODB TIME!

Over the weekend you may have heard some stuff went down at a screening of an ODB movie, called “Dirty: Platinum Edition.” The film was by NuHo Film Festival but AHH helped them get the word out, in the name of Russell Jones! But, all didn’t go well! The film wasn’t able to be screened at a live event in Brooklyn because of a cease and desist from the family. I WISH I could tell you all that I know about this, but I cannot. There is a lot going on behind the scenes, TRUST!

We know life has a funny way of getting its point across.. In school, we’re taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, we’re given the test that teaches us a lesson…. The funny thing is that if you do not learn and apply the lesson, the test will keep coming in different shapes and sizes until you actually get it! This is why many of us are constantly finding ourselves in the carousel of life challenges; going round and round and never finding a solution because we refused to look at the lessons that life is trying to teach us! It is imperative that we begin to accept the fact that life is easy! It is not created and meant to be a struggle! Rest in Peace is a saying constantly said to those who are now deceased but resting in peace is something we should practice while we are alive! Understand and know that the answers to all of life questions live inside… Stay calm, stay focused, stay prayed up, and find the bliss and tranquility that you are meant to have! As Russell Kirk once said “If you want to have order in everyday life, you first have to have order in the individual soul.” Find you peace of mind and live the life you deserve!

D-Roc Of Ying Yang Twins Seeks Help With Unaffordable Child Support Payments

(AllHipHop News) About ten years ago the Ying Yang Twins were one of the hottest groups in rap music. Popular songs like “Whistle While You Twurk,” “Salt Shaker,” “Wait (The Whisper Song),” and “Get Low” with Lil Jon were in regular rotation on radio in the early 2000’s, but apparently times are not as great for at least one half of the duo.

TMZ reports that group member D-Roc at on point was pulling in $19,000/month and as a result he was paying out $2,500/month to his daughter’s mother for child support. Fast forward to November 2013 and D-Roc now claims he is only making $2,860 every month.

Roc filed legal papers in Georgia asking that his child support payments be lowered to reflect his current income. His reduction request was answered, and he is now required to pay $550 a month.

The Ying Yang twins announced on Twitter last year that they had signed with Epic Records. The Atlanta-based group was expected to drop their sixth album All Around The World this year. They released the mixtape Ass In Session this past summer, but their last official LP was 2009’s Ying Yang Forever.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Did Robert Downey Jr. Get Terrance Howard Dumped From The Iron Man Franchise?

The Best Man Holiday is supposedly one of the best movies out right now! GREAT! But, I heard Terrance Howard is finally talking about his misfortune with Iron Man. Remember he was in the first one as Iron Man’s homeboy Rhodey. Now, Don Cheadle is Rhodey.

I wasn’t real big on Terrance Howard being in the first Iron Man movie, but I dealt with it. But, as the second Iron Man was announced, it was implied widely that Terrance had gotten greedy and wanted more money. See, in the first Iron Man, he got more money than even Robert Downey Jr. But, there were conflicting reports on what happened. Marvel suggested early that T.H. insisted on more money and they promptly dropped him, bringing in Don Cheadle. But, what Terry is saying now is that Robert Downey snaked him! I am hearing he said that they wanted to cut his pay down and he asked the big dog to put in a good word with the brass over at Marvel. RDjr did nothing of the sort. In fact, its been stated that he ended up getting himself a pay raise with Terrance’s money. Then, Don comes in at a lower rate too.

A loss is a loss.

Rock The Bells Festival To Return In 2014

(AllHipHop News) Rock The Bells is coming back in 2014!

The festival was forced to cancel key dates in Washington DC and New Jersey/ New York.

Guerilla Union founder Chang Weisberg detailed what happened with the unfortunate cancellations in his opinion in an exclusive interview with VIBE.

“It wasn’t the cost of the holograms that killed Rock the Bells, or anything like that. The bigger reasons, the macro-version,” Weisberg said. “There were a lot of great shows that were out touring in our same time period; that could be a factor. The fact that Jay-Z was on sale, the fact that Kanye was on sale, the fact that Drake was on sale; there were just a lot of great hip-hop shows, and I wish all of them well. I think competition increases the market, and I’m happy that all these acts can be touring, and ultimately, maybe, that was one of the issues.”

But, he said that perhaps the festival took on too much this year.

Weisberg said, “Maybe the vision was too great.”

In the video below he makes the statement announcing that Rock The Bells would return in 2014.

Kendrick Lamar and Team are P##### with GQ

(AllHipHop News) Kendrick Lamar and GQ are clashing over a cover story in the magazine’s coveted “Men of the Year” issue.

Kendrick and the TDE crew took exception to language in the article that seemed to suggest that African Americans rappers were generally lazy womanizing drug abusers. Additionally, the piece talked at length about the violence in Compton, where Kendrick was reared.

Jim Nelson, GQ editor-in-chief, spoke his peace over the disagreement.

“Kendrick Lamar is one of the most talented new musicians to arrive on the scene in years. That’s the reason we chose to celebrate him, wrote an incredibly positive article declaring him the next King of Rap, and gave him our highest honor: putting him on the cover of our Men of the Year issue. I’m not sure how you can spin that into a bad thing, and I encourage anyone interested to read the story and see for themselves. We were mystified and sorely disappointed by Top Dawg’s decision to pull him at the last minute from the performance he had promised to give. The real shame is that people were deprived of the joy of seeing Kendrick perform live. I’m still a huge fan.”

Earlier in the week, Kendrick skipped a performance at GQ’s Men of the Year party in apparent protest.

Top Dawg Entertainment’s Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith told TMZ, the images portrayed in the story were not accurate and felt biased.

“The interview portrayed him and his company in a negative light and he won’t stand for it. To say he was ‘surprised at our discipline’ is completely disrespectful … Kendrick deserved to be accurately documented. The racial overtones immediately reminded everyone of a time in hip-hop that was destroyed by violence, resulting in the loss of two of our biggest stars [Tupac and B.I.G.] … As a result of this misrepresentation, I pulled Kendrick from his performance at GQ’s annual Man Of The Year party. While we think it’s a tremendous honor to be named as one of the Men Of The Year, these lazy comparisons and offensive suggestions are something we won’t tolerate.”

Ol Dirty Bastard’s Estate Stops Brooklyn Screening of ODB Documentary

(AllHipHop News) Last night (November 15th), some of the founding members of Wu Tang, family members, close affiliates and droves of fans attended the NuHo Film Festival’s screening of “Dirty: Platinum Edition.”

Unfortunately, it didn’t happen.

Chris Kanik, NuHo’s owner and managing partner, informed the crowd that the film could not be screened due to a cease and desist order from the attorney of Ol Dirty Bastard’s estate.

Ol Dirty Bastard’s estate is under the control of his widowed wife Icelene Jones.

Cappadonna, Masta Killa, 9th Prince of Killaarmy, numerous relatives of ODB and others came out to support the film. Raison Allah, who was the filmmaker behind “Dirty” was noticeably absent.

As the event wound down, RZA spoke to the audience about lawyers and art, as it related to the event.

“You gotta protect yourself legally, but a film is something that can be portrayed in home, in public places like libraries and Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAMS), where art is given to the people,” RZA explained via Skype. “I can’t see how a lawyer can stop culture from being spread. This film is a documentary. That’s one of the biggest problems we have in this country – the problems of lawyers.”

“I don’t understand how ODB, who passed away nine years ago, who has children, who has family members who are sitting right there in that audience, he has fans who have supported his music, he’s a part of the Wu Tang Legacy…I can’t see how a lawyer, who never met him personally, can stop this film from being shown to the public.

Chris Kanik countered, “Its not a lawyer, its the estate…the widow.”

Many in the crowd became upset and frustrated and the police were even called in to settle things.

AllHipHop was unaware of the cease and desist order until minutes before the scheduled screening time. At the event, Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur offered an apology to those in attendance, including members of the family and Wu Tang. Below is a formal statement.

“AllHipHop would like to extend their sincerest apologies to those that came out to see and support the film “Dirty: Platinum Edition.” As a sponsor of the event, we sought only to offer attendees a means to see Ol’ Dirty through the eyes of those that knew him personally. We will continue to support Hip-Hop as a movement, and also ensure that our audience will have an enjoyable experience. In closing, we remain respectful fans of Ol Dirty and the Wu Tang Clan as a whole.”

This is the second time this year that the estate has stopped Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s likeness from being shown to the public. In mid-May of this year, Mrs. Jones filed a cease and desist order on the scheduled hologram of Ol’ Dirty Bastard for Wu Tang Clan’s Rock The Bells performance.

She revealed why she stopped the hologram from being shown and possibly gives a reason for why Dirty Platinum received a similar cease and desist order in an interview with HipHopDX.

I’m the administrator [of ODB’s estate] and the only authority to give anyone permission to do anything like this—any likeness, any music. They need to come to me. I’m so available. I’m accessible. I’m easy to contact. I just want to make that understood. I’m a nice person. It’s just that people are doing things without my knowledge.

AllHipHop will continue to offer updates on the legal case facing “Dirty: Platinum Edition.”

Jay Z Announces He Is “Moving Forward” With Barneys Collection

(AllHipHop News) Hip Hop mogul Jay Z received significant criticism over the last several weeks over his upcoming apparel collection selling exclusively at Barneys New York. The store was under fire for two alleged incidents of racial profiling which led to an online petition asking Jay to end his partnership with the high-end retailer.

[ALSO READ: EXCLUSIVE: Derick Bowers Discusses His Jay Z Petition, Getting Charlamagne’s “Donkey of the Day” & What He Expects From Barneys’ CEO]

After providing an initial statement saying that he was “waiting on facts” before he decided his next move in the situation, Jay issued another statement today announcing he plans to continue with the November 20th launch of his limited edition collection with Barneys.

Read Jay Z’s full statement below via Life+Times:

In the past several weeks two separate investigations were launched as a result of the wrongful detention of Trayon Christian and Kayla Phillips.  My team has been privy to the status of the Barneys third party consultant investigation.  In continuing our research, we also contacted the New York State Attorney General’s office for the status of their investigation into both Barneys and Macy’s. Those findings are not yet available.

While I await the findings of the Attorney General’s Office, I have agreed to move forward with the launch of BNY SCC collection under the condition that I have a leadership role and seat on a council specifically convened to deal with the issue of racial profiling.  I am in a unique position to use my voice to affect change to this disturbing issue.  The easy position would have been to walk away and leave policy making to others hoping that someone addresses the problem.  I will not leave the outcome to others.  I will take this into my own hands with full power to recommend, review and revise policies and guidelines moving forward.  I am choosing to take this head on.

As I previously stated, the collaboration with Barneys has always been about giving and The Shawn Carter Foundation.  From this collection, the Foundation will receive not only  25% of sales, it will now receive the additional 75% of Barneys’ sales, totalling 100% of all sales from BNY SCC.   Along with 100% of sales from the collaboration, the Foundation will receive an additional 10% of all retail sales from Barneys New York stores nationwide and Barneys.com on November 20th.

Hip-Hop Rumors: ROCKY STRIKES, Sylvester Stallone Calls Papz N***er!

WHAT THE HELL?

Sylvester Stallone

Sly Stallone must have gotten hit in the head too many times from Clubber Lang and Apollo Creed! Why? This MF went on a rant where he called a Black paparazzi a N***ER!!!!!! Here is how it went down according to TMZ!

Sylvester Stallone had some harsh words for a paparazzo in Beverly Hills Thursday … grousing, “This f**king n***er here, this f**ker.”

Sly was leaving Caffe Roma with a friend. They were followed by a group of photogs. Sly then hurls the racial epithet. It comes at 7 seconds into the clip.

The video is a little difficult to hear, but as Sly turns the corner and looks over his right shoulder — back at the paparazzi — you clearly hear him use the n word. A little later in the video, you hear a female photog say to Sly, “Why the racial slurs?”

There were African-American photogs shooting Sly at Caffe Roma, but it’s unclear if the epithet was directed at them.

Sly Said…
“F**king N***er”
“F**king Ass**le”
VOTE
Sly’s rep tells TMZ, the actor DENIES using the N word. The rep says Sly is insistent, he said, “F**king Ass**le.” The rep says the woman in the video who says, “Why the racial slurs?” was NOT talking directly to Sly. The rep says the photog made the comment so she could pump up the value of the video.

I hope not! I’d hate to stop watching Rocky after all these years. Give Mr. T and Carl Weathers their money or put them in “The Disposables” or whatever that movie is called!!!!!

Oh yeah…Rumor has it there is another Rocky flick in the works and, guess whow is reportedly anchoring it? A N***ER!

Michael B. Jordan is rumored to be playing in a new Rocky movie as Apollo Creed’s grand son that wants to box. I wonder who will make him a champion?

F**K you SLY! Say sorry and give those guys their just do!

[KNOCKOUT NATION] Andre Ward Talks Mainstream Appeal, Floyd Mayweather & The Plight Of The African American Boxer

For his critics, winning a gold medal for the United States in 2004 Olympics, going pro and attaining an unbeaten record (26-0) while being recognized as the second best fighter in the world behind Floyd Mayweather isn’t enough. According to the skeptics, the WBA (Super) and The Ring Super Middleweight champion continues to win fights, but hasn’t figured out the winning combination to win over new fans. He doesn’t have the great equalizer in knockout power and doesn’t have the polarizing personality to make him attractive to mainstream boxing fans. He’s just a good guy who fights very, very well. But shouldn’t that be enough? As he prepares to take on Edwin Rodriguez on November 16, Knockout Nation sits down with Andre Ward to talk about his mainstream appeal, whether or not he has beef with Floyd Mayweather and the plight of the African American boxer.

Knockout Nation: Two things stuck out to me in the Dawson fight, one was that you said you wanted to remove the he’s good “but” part out of the conversation when people speak of you. The other was that you alluded to making Chad Dawson quit before it actually happened. Was the plan to essentially kill two birds with one stone when you fought Dawson?

Andre Ward: We went into the fight knowing that we could stop Chad Dawson. He’s not a man that you can go in there and know you’ll knock him out. It just doesn’t happen. But we had the mindset and in the weeks leading up to the fight I said to not be surprised if he runs into a shot. The plan was to break him down and catch him late and that’s exactly what we did. So, the answer to your question is yes.

Knockout Nation: The momentum you gained by stopping Dawson was slowed down when an injury forced you out for the past year. How frustrating was it to be on the sidelines even though you were still visible doing commentary for HBO?

Andre Ward: It was very frustrating. Sometimes even discouraging because I had the best seat in the house calling fights but I couldn’t participate. The fans would always ask when would I be back and I didn’t have an answer. Even when I was physically cleared there were holdups with the business side of things. It was frustrating but you cannot just embrace the good times. You have to value the bad ones as well. I decided that I would enjoy my life while I waited to get back into the ring. When I come back, I’m going to do it with a statement and that’s where my mindset is right now.

Knockout Nation: On the flipside of that, you were in a series of highly competitive fights. So perhaps this was also a much needed break?

Andre Ward: That’s very true. I know my body needed a year off. It’s one thing to be eager and want to come right back. But your body sometimes says something different. I’ve got twenty years under my belt of training and fighting and taking punches. That year off isn’t going to hurt me; it is going to help me. It may not be ideal but when you look at Floyd Mayweather taking the hiatuses that he taken over the last four years have preserved him. Especially considering that he’s been fighting since he was a kid. You see Pacquiao fighting two or three times a year and all the training camps he has to go through. Sometimes the body says enough is enough. Floyd did right making those decisions to take extended breaks. He knows what he needed to do. I’m learning the same thing. I’m thinking that in the end it will benefit me in the long run.

“I’m not in competition with Floyd Mayweather”

Knockout Nation: Rodriguez is unbeaten but nobody is really giving him a chance to beat you. But what is your take on Rodriguez?
Andre Ward: I don’t read the general consensus of what people feel about my opponent because I know that he’s earned his shot, his eager and he’s coming to take something. I’m not a champion who looks past his opponents. I take everyone very seriously. Sometimes more serious than I probably should because I want to make sure that I’m mentally up to par.

Knockout Nation: The plight of the African American boxer is an interesting one. Gone are the days when African American boxers could possess crossover appeal for their in ring ability without being too controversial. Guys like Hearns, Leonard, Hagler, Holmes were fighters young kids could look up to and their parents would feel comfortable with their children looking up to them. Now we are missing black boxers with that crossover appeal unless there is some kind of controversy that follows them. What is your take?

Click here for the rest of the interview, where Ward talks Hip-Hop, Gospel and his refusal to do publicity stunts to maintain relevance.
