Jay-Z Explains Killing His Ego In The ‘Footnotes For Kill Jay Z’ Visual (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) In the latest episode of his Footnotes video series, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter explains why he had to destroy his own ego.

Footnotes for Kill Jay Z features the Brooklyn-raised wordsmith addressing the concept behind the opening track on his #1 album 4:44.

“It’s really about the ego, it’s about killing off the ego so we can have this conversation in a place of vulnerability and honesty,” says the legendary emcee. “Jay-Z, the public persona, couldn’t have this conversation. He has to be eliminated, he has to be moved. So it’s really Shawn Carter speaking to Jay-Z, and he has to convince him to move aside.”

The 4:44 visual accompaniment also includes appearances by Anthony Anderson, Van Jones, Trevor Noah, Mahershala Ali, Michael Che, Chris Rock, and Charlamagne Tha God.

Previously, Hov released Footnotes for the Story Of O.J. and Footnotes for 4:44.

Usher Hit With $40 New Lawsuit Over Herpes Claim

(AllHipHop News) A woman suing R&B star Usher has reportedly tested positive for herpes.

The plaintiff claims the “Yeah!” singer gave her the sexually transmitted disease during an alleged fling, and now she has tested positive she has increased her demands.

The woman, named as Jane Doe in court papers, says she was devastated when she got the results back on Saturday.

She initially sued the “U Got it Bad” star for $10 million after claiming they had unprotected sex earlier this year and now she’s doubling down for $20 million in punitive damages.

She also wants another $20 million for emotional harm and medical bills.

Birdman Shuts Down Tyga’s Claim That Cash Money Owes Him $12 Million!

(AllHipHop Rumors) Someone’s lying!

Now we can look at Lil Wayne’s case and a few other lawsuits and see that Birdman is no stranger to “owing” artists, so it actually seemed somewhat plausible to many that Birdman could actually owe Tyga some coins, like Tyga claimed recently. Well it seemed to make sense to everyone but Birdman.

Tyga claims Birdman owes him $12 million, and Birdman is calling BS!

According to TMZ, inside sources have actually revealed that Tyga is actually the one who walked away still owing Cash Money Records an album!

Apparently the label had no problem releasing Tyga as they state that his sales were low and slow.

It seemed like everything was cool with Tyga when he left Cash Money for Ye’s G.O.O.D. Music in 2016, but apparently not, as Tyga is claiming the Cash Money boss owes him millions.

Tyga supposedly isn’t even suing for money which makes the claim seem a little bogus.

“What person says they won’t sue if they’re owed $12 million?” said the source.

Do you think Birdman really owes Tyga $12 million?

Migos Member Offset Says He’s Calling Out Rappers On ‘Culture 2’!

(AllHipHop Rumors) Either Quavo found the hard drive that he lost with ‘Culture 2’ on it, or the Atlanta rap trio Migos is just re-recording everything from scratch! Either way, the project is definitely on the way.

Migos member Offset has recently let it be known that he will be calling out a few rappers on ‘Culture 2’ as well.

Whomever Offset doesn’t f-ck with, it will certainly come out on this album. Offset even says that he’s going to call out folks by name!

Who do you think will be on the list? Lil Uzi Vert, Joe Budden? Heck maybe even Chris Brown?!

Maybe Migos should just focus on putting out good music instead of possibly igniting new beefs.

Can’t we all just get along?! Are you anticipating ‘Culture 2’? Will it live up to the hype?

REVIEW: Vic Mensa’s “The Autobiography “

(AllHipHop Reviews) Fresh off the release of his 4-song “capsule” The Manuscript EP, Chicago native Vic Mensa drops off his debut album, The Autobiography. It’s executive produced by No I.D. who just helped create Jay-Z’s 4:44, the clear-cut album of the year.

Vic’s often been known to dig deep and reflect on his past misfortunes. His 2016 EP There’s Alot Going On was a diverse offering which found him discussing everything from a past relationship to the Flint water crisis. Given the title of this latest project, you can expect him to dig even deeper.

But will all that digging reveal diamonds or dirt?

The first time I heard Vic Mensa was on Asher Roth’s remix of Kids These Days’ “Hard Times.” I immediately noticed his unique voice, sharp flow and strong lyricism, but I never imagined he would grow into the artist he is today. The Manuscript EP and The Autobiography are further proof of Vic’s growth as a rapper, a musician, and a human being. By stripping down to his innermost self, his music has become more personal, more relatable, and a bit surprisingly, better lyrically.

The Autobiography kicks off with a soulful track built off a sample of Darondo’s “Didn’t I.” Vic takes this opportunity to speak to his father, mother and late grandmother about their support for him and how much he appreciates them. On “Memories on 47th St.,” Vic spills all the details about his life, from having IEPs and getting kicked out of kindergarten to nearly dying sneaking into Lollapalooza. Tracks like these carry the torch that was ignited by the album’s title.

Overall, this album works because it’s both strong musically and revealing. From speaking on past relationships on tracks like “Homewrecker” and “Coffee & Cigarettes” to diving into the tragedies of his personal life on “Heaven on Earth” and “Wings,” Vic may as well have written this album in his own blood. And of course, the album is heavily peppered with references to Chicago, Vic’s friend (and rapper) Joey Purp, and the violence that plagues his city.

But the best part about the lyrical content on The Autobiography is that it doesn’t overshadow any other aspect of the album. While the album is primarily focused on delivering on the expectations the title creates, Vic still devotes plenty of energy to crafting clever bars and developing a unique, potent sound driven by strong vocals and varied production.

That’s not to say this album doesn’t have any chinks in its armor. For those who enjoy Vic as a rapper, this album could have focused on rapping a bit more. And while “Rolling Like a Stoner” serves as a catchy anthem which explores the reality of drug use (think “Swimming Pools”), I’m just not rocking with it musically. If this song had been replaced or the album cut to 12 songs, I think it would have been a stronger debut.

To me, though, this album has no real lows, just slightly lower highs. It’s easy to put on and play straight through, and no song is so shallow as to not offer the listener anything.

The Autobiography
is full of social commentary, emotion, reflection, and self-improvement. It serves as a coming out party for one of the most promising young spitters in Hip-Hop—and I’m sure we’ll be hearing more of the same from Vic Mensa in the coming years.

2 Chainz Leads Fans To Believe G.O.O.D. Music’s ‘Cruel Winter’ Album Is On The Way

(AllHipHop News) It’s been five years since the G.O.O.D. Music compilation Cruel Summer hit stores.

Fans of the Kanye West collective have been promised a follow-up album titled Cruel Winter for just as long.

The sequel is now back on the Hip Hop radar after 2 Chainz posted a photo on Instagram which included the faces of G.O.O.D. affiliates.

Chainz did not add a caption for the picture, so the Atlanta native’s followers began speculating it means Cruel Winter could finally be on the way.

Last year, there were reports that Travis Scott was tapped to executive produce the highly-anticipated sequel.

A recent pic of Travis and Chainz at the New York stop of Kendrick Lamar’s “The Damn Tour” led to even more hype that G.O.O.D. Music was officially teaming back up for a body of work.

Meek Mill Responds To Internet Users Saying He Got Money From Nicki Minaj

(AllHipHop News) The public became aware that Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill officially ended their relationship in January when the raptress tweeted, “To confirm, yes I am single.”

The fallout from the break up caused the former couple to send subliminal shots at each other on social media as well as Meek rapping about his ex on his new album Wins & Losses.

Their respective fan bases have also expressed thoughts on the situation via social media.

During an interview with the Associated Press, Meek was asked about the attention and criticism he received from dating Nicki.

“I’ll look at the Internet and see comments like, ‘Meek got Nicki money.’ You can’t know nothing about Meek Mill if you saying something like that,” stated the “1942 Flows” rhymer.

He continued, “They be like ‘Meek Mill can’t rap.’… ‘Somebody wrote Meek Mill raps’. … I came up on YouTube rapping since I was 14 years old. That’s my importance to the streets. They seen me come up. My story is not a facade.”

Did Rick Ross Squash Meek’s Miami Beef

(AllHipHop Rumors) Meek got all the Miami OG’s up in a tizzy. I don’t know why anybody would care to comment on this when its so small. All the things going on in the world and we talking about a vague line in a rap song. Meek would NEVER dis Miami or any of these dudes! I know’s better than that…

Nevertheless, I hope somebody gives Meek his Miami visa back. Oh by the way, I heard Rick Ross has already squashed this. Not verified yet, but that is the word on the street.

Remember JT Money? OF course you don’t, but he’s a thorough Miami OG. He weighs in on it too.

Of course,Wack100 had to offer his two cent.

Kendrick Lamar Thanks His Fans For Making ‘DAMN’ Double Platinum

(AllHipHop News) At the midway point of 2017, only one album has received double platinum certification – Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN.

Kendrick showed love to his followers for making DAMN such a huge commercial success.

“These murals forever belong to my fans. You’ve always taken my words above and beyond. Around the world and back again. With trust. I am forever grateful. 2x,” wrote Lamar on Instagram.

The RIAA named the TDE emcee’s fourth studio LP as the “Top Awarded Album” for the first half of the year.

In addition, Nielsen Music listed DAMN as the top album in its mid-year report.

According to the music tracking system, DAMN collected 1,772,000 sales plus streaming units in the first six months of 2017.

The critically acclaimed opus sold 678,000 copies in the year’s first half which is second only to Ed Sheeran’s ÷ (Divide) with 743,000 copies sold.

Kendrick’s favorite body of work from his own discography has been one of the most popular albums in the country for 14 straight weeks.

Since its debut at #1 on the May 6-dated Billboard 200, DAMN has yet to slip below the #3 spot on the chart.

“I think DAMN is a hybrid of all these projects. It was me finally being able to take elements from good kid, the message behind To Pimp a Butterfly, the sonic and beats slapping on good kid, and the rawness of just being able to do what I want like I did on Section.80,” explained K. Dot on why he puts his latest effort at the top of his personal list.

These murals forever belong to my fans. You’ve always taken my words above and beyond. Around the world and back again. With trust. I am forever grateful. 2x

Rick Ross Discusses New VH1 Series, Why He Never Signed A Female Rapper & More (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) On July 26th, VH1 will begin airing its new competition series Signed.

The show follows Maybach Music Group head Rick Ross, Roc Nation executive Lenny S., and Radio Killa Records founder The-Dream, as the three moguls search for new artists.

Ross stopped by The Breakfast Club to talk about Signed and what he wants in an aspiring talent hoping to join his label.

“When I’m looking for an artist, I’m really just looking for something I’ve never seen,” said Rozay. “If it’s something that’s unique, I feel that’s something that’s in demand. After that, I want to see that hunger.”

Angela Yee then asked the Rather You Than Me album creator why he has never signed a female Hip Hop artist to his MMG roster.

“I never did it because I always thought I would end up f-cking the female rapper, f-cking the business up. I’m so focused on my business. I got to be honest with you,” Ross joked. “She’s looking good. I’m spending so much money on her photo shoots. I gotta f-ck her a couple of times.”

While he has yet to add a woman to the MMG crew, Rick Ross has seen success with the DMV’s Wale and Philadelphia’s Meek Mill.

The Florida representative broke down why he signed Wale and Meek in a 2015 interview with AllHipHop.com.

His sit down with The Breakfast Club also included Ross talking about Meek Mill, Birdman, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z, Chris Rock, and more.

Over 100 People Sent to The Hospital After Drinking Too Much At Chance The Rapper’s Show

(AllHipHop News) Over 100 people have been hospitalized after drinking too much at Chance the Rapper’s show in Hartford, Connecticut.

The rapper performed at the Xfinity Theater for the Hot 93.7 concert on Friday evening.

According to police, all of the victims were sent to the hospital for severe intoxication and 50 of them were subsequently charged with underage drinking.

“A ‘typical’ concert is around 20-30 transports. 60 would be very bad. We had 70 once and 90 last night. It depends on the act that is in town and the fan base age,” Deputy Police Chief Brian Foley told The Hartford Courant.
So many people were taken to the hospital during the concert that it overwhelmed emergency responders working during the evening.

Most of those were arrested in the parking lots around the concert, where over 21,000 people showed up to see the rap star.

Chris Brown Sues Promoter Who Drew Guns and Tried To “Extort” Singer

(AllHipHop News) Chris Brown has taken a concert organizer to court, accusing them of attempting to extort him in a situation that caused “extreme” emotional distress.

“The Grass Ain’t Greener” singer, who postponed a New Year’s Eve concert in 2004 in the Philippines but later rescheduled the date for July the next year, has claimed that the concert promoter caused distress after he was unable to leave the country unless he paid them $300,000.

According to editors at TMZ, the incident occurred when the 28-year-old singer was unable to perform the original concert date as he had “misplaced his passport” and could not travel.

He agreed to return and perform the missed concert in Manilla at the agreed later date but, according to documents seen by TMZ, when the Grammy award winning star tried to leave the country the following day, he was stopped by men with weapons who then told him he would have to pay the money before he could leave the country.

According to the documents, an attorney for the concert venue had told the singer he had to pay the amount to the trust fund of Jose Victor Los Banos Biongco, believed to be the promoter, or he would be arrested.

Brown refused to pay, hired an immigration attorney and had eventually got clearance to leave the country.

It reportedly took the star three days to leave the country, with the promoter and his representatives reportedly continuing to contact the singer and demand payment even as he travelled to the airport.

Editors at TMZ added that the documents reveal Brown wants Biongco to pay for the “extreme” emotional distress he suffered during this period, as he feels the promoter had been trying to “extort” money from him.

Madam Tussauds Adjusts The Lighting On White Beyonce

(AllHipHop News) Fans were outraged when the new look-alike was unveiled on Wednesday in New York, with many accusing wax artists of lightening the “Drunk in Love” singer’s skin color.

Wax museum officials quickly responded to the backlash, blaming poor lighting for how the figure looked.

According to the New York Times, the statue was removed from public display on Thursday, although museum chiefs insist the figure is still on the floor – they have simply fixed the settings of the surroundings.

“We love, respect and enjoy a working relationship with Beyonce,” a representative tells the New York Post’s Page Six. “We have adjusted the styling and lighting of her figure and she is on display at Madame Tussauds New York.”

Once the actress posted the revealing selfie, the cyber world went nuts, most admired her selfie and left nice comments complementing her on her natural beauty. One person in particular didn’t agree. He called her t###### “saggy”… Saggy yo?! Come on now! Have some respect!

I’m just gonna say this. For Taraji to be 46, just four years from being 50, she is slaying honey! The photo was taken while on set filming for season 4 of the Fox hit series “Empire”.

My opinion?! There is nothing wrong with the photo she took. I LOVE it. I love her, she is going to always be herself, she will never switch up for anyone! She’s one of the realest in Hollywood. I admire her work and the sacrifices she had to make to get to where she is today. People are gonna talk. That’s what they do! Others are allegedly saying that her ass may be fake and that she had a booty job, who cares?! But when asked about it, she claps back at a producer of the Wendy Williams Show as always, saying, “HA! Thank you for the love @wendyshow! And tell your producer guy that those #CookieCakes are ALL ME baby!!!” she said. “EVERYBODY AIN’T GETTING A– SHOTS!!! I don’t need them! Also let him/her know TV adds a lil weight so RELAX!”

Ass shots or not, honey Taraji is fine for the 46. TV certainly does add a little extra weight and that’s okay! I wanna know what you think! Is she fine the way she is or nah?! Chime in! Leave your comments below.
