(AllHipHop News) Over the last few weeks,Kanye West consumedpop culture with his Jesus Is King album rollout. Ye’s take on Gospel is both an extension and a departure from his musical aesthetic.
Some of Kanye West fans attempted to credit the 42-year-old as an innovator for mixing Hip Hop and Gospel. However, artists like Lecrae have been the leading voices in the Christian rap space for decades.
Kanye West is cracking the culture code.@kanyewest’s new album #JesusIsKing is the epitome of fearless creativity and “dangerous, unapproved” ideas.
Leftists always try to silence those who are speaking truth. They’re waging a war on our family and culture.
Lecrae’s Gravity even won Best Gospel Album at the 2013 Grammy Awards. Billboard spoke to the Houston-born songwriter about West’s move toward Christ-based sound.
“Kanye is such a polarizing figure and his movements create ripple effects in culture, particularly music,” said Lecrae.
The Let The Trap Say Amen creator continued, “Traditionally Gospel is seen as singing. Those of us Christians who rap were removed from the Gospel charts on that technicality. His deeper impact is perhaps on the Christian rap community. There is a lot more intersectionality there.”
Unlike secular projects from West – such as College Dropout and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy – Jesus Is King is receiving mixed reactions from professional reviewers and lay listeners. The LP has a 56/100 critics score and a 5.8/10 user score on Metacritic.
“When a person trades misogyny, and self-glorification, for talking about Jesus on every track, that will guarantee scrutiny and disappointment. Lastly, people will have their subjective opinion on the music, and they are entitled to it,” offered Lecrae. “It sounds like a person who is excited about his new relationship with Jesus. I’m in support of that.”

(AllHipHop News) Blink-182 has played down reports of feuds with their summer tour mate Lil Wayne, insisting they understood every time he missed a show or cut a performance short.
The rapper missed a handful of shows and even threatened to pull out of the U.S. tour in July but the punk trio never had a problem with their pal’s behavior, explaining there was a lot going on between gigs.
“We left in (the) middle of June and came back in the end of September,” bassist Mark Hoppus told KROQ’s Kevin & Bean Show. “There were three issues on the whole tour. One of them was (because) he could not even get to the venue, one he left because the cops were after him, and the one where he walked offstage because of a storm.”
Drummer Travis Barker adds, “Sometimes he would hit me and he’d be like, ‘Hey I’m about to let everyone else know I can’t make it to the show – this, this, and that’s going on’. But it’s usually to protect himself and his freedom – if you’re in a state and the cops start tailing you everywhere and you’re gonna get pinched for smoking weed, it’s just not worth it.”

(AllHipHop News) Lawyers for Tracy Chapman are fed up with Nicki Minaj.
Chapman’s attorneys claim Nicki Minaj’s behavior is severely hindering their case as she attempts to sue the rapper for illegally sampling one of her songs.
Tracy Chapman’s lawyers claimed Nicki Minaj has been refusing to hand over the text messages she sent to Funkmaster Flex before, and after the leak of “Sorry.”
Tracy Chapman insists Nicki Minaj has been dragging her heels and ignoring requests for key information the singer has been seeking for months.
When Nicki finally complied with a court order, the rapper allegedly handed over one document.
Chapman’s legal team is asking a judge to force Nicki Minaj to hand over the text messages she sent to Funkmaster Flex about the leak of “Sorry.”
“Enough is enough. Maraj should not be permitted to continue to avoid her discovery obligations, and should be compelled to produce the documents,” Tracy Chapman’s lawyer said in a new motion a judge to make Nicki hand over the text messages.
At the center of this dispute is a tweet Funkmaster Flex sent out shortly before “Sorry” was leaked which read: “Nicki gave me something @NickiMinaj, featuring @Nas. Not on her album…”
During her deposition in September, Nicki claimed she had been in touch with Funkmaster Flex, real name Aston George Taylor.
The rapper said she sent Funk Flex a legal document he was supposed to sign stating that she nothing to do with the leak.
“I was talking to him about the document. And he advised me that he already made it clear that he — that he didn’t receive this song from me, and that he was going to state that on the document that we sent him,” Nicki Minaj explained.
“And…we mentioned the wording of ‘Nicki gave me something,’ and he said that he made that clear to everyone who had asked him already, that that’s his figure of speech,” Nicki said.
“I was, like, that’s not good for you to have put that in a tweet if I didn’t give you something. But he said he clarified it. So I don’t know if it was to Tracy Chapman’s legal team or to my legal team, but he said he clarified that wording,” Nicki Minaj said.
Nicki Minaj’s lawyers dismissed Tracy Chapman’s latest request for more documents, saying their client has been compliant the entire time.
“The Court should not be fooled by the false and inflammatory narrative Chapman offers in support of her motion, and should not allow it to color its evaluation of this motion,” Nicki’s lawyers said, claiming their the rapper has been compliant the entire time.
AllHipHop has confirmed Funkmaster Flex has already been subpoenaed and he supposed to be deposed on November 22nd.

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West got a lesson in birth control after he appeared to equate Plan B One-Stop, an emergency contraceptive pill, with the abortion pill.
In an interview with radio DJ Big Boy last Friday the Jesus Is King rapper denounced the Democratic Party and claimed that African Americans have historically been “brainwashed” into supporting the Democrats who have been instrumental in “taking the fathers out the homes, Plan B, lowering our votes, making us abort our children.”
However, the rapper’s outburst led to criticism that he was confusing Plan B One-Stop — an emergency contraception that helps prevent pregnancy — with medication that can abort an unwanted pregnancy.
On Wednesday, a spokesperson for Foundation Consumer Healthcare (FCH), the pharmaceutical firm that makes Plan B, responded to West’s comments, telling TMZ: “Plan B emergency contraception is a safe and effective backup option when used as directed after unprotected sex or birth control failure.
“Plan B helps prevent pregnancy before it starts by delaying ovulation. Plan B is not an abortion pill — it will not harm an existing pregnancy and it will not be effective if a woman is already pregnant.”
The company website also makes it clear the drug cannot be used to treat unwanted pregnancies.
Planned Parenthood also weighed in on the comments from the Jesus Walks rapper, with a spokesperson highlighting black women’s roles in advocating for abortion rights in the U.S. and better reproductive health care.
“As black women, we make our own decisions about our bodies and pregnancies, and want and deserve to have access to the best medical care available,” the spokesperson told TMZ. “Misinformation like this is meant to shame us and keep us from making our own health care decisions. Black women want and deserve support and access to the full range of reproductive health care, but this persistent lie is threatening our ability to obtain it.”
West has not clarified his position since the interview went viral.
(AllHipHop News) Nicki Minaj has managed to convince fans she’s pregnant after sharing and deleting a cryptic tweet.

(AllHipHop Rumors) Tory Lanez has been relatively quiet, but I hear he is working on something. First of all, he’s been touring so he is not all that quiet, but he has been a media furor at all. On of the flip side, his cohort-in-crime Melii is doing quite a lot of media, including AllHipHop.
In the interview, she talks quite a lot about her relatively short impactful run in the music game, a bit about Meek Mill, Harlem and also Tory Lanez. Now, her career is being managed by Tory Lanez, creatively speaking. So, that led the interviewer to ask about them working together on a project together.
And, the answer is…they are working on it! I am glad to hear, because both of them can rap and both of them can sing. They have balance!
Here is the interview:
Do you think this will be something people will be into? I think so as long as they do a nice rollout. Personally, I say lead with another Tory project and jump right into this joint effort! BUT, I think it could also go the other way around…just drop it!
(AllHipHop News) John Legend took to Twitter to clarify some comments attributed to him. The R&B pianist was quoted discussing his longtime musical collaborator Kanye West.
“I’m not trying to disown Kanye because I still love him and love everything we’ve done together creatively,” Legend told Vanity Fairabout the G.O.O.D. Music founder. “But we were never the closest of friends.”
That revelation about their personal relationship made its way into headlines across the internet. Legend then posted a series of tweets explaining his statement about West.
I get why people want to make this a thing. But I was explaining to the reporter how I’ve seen people I love reacting to the deaths of their mothers. I was thinking specifically of my own mom, Chrissy’s mom and others. Then she asked me if I was referring to Kanye as well after Dr West died. And I told her I wasn’t really in a position to say because while Kanye [and I] have a long friendship and have a made a lot of great music, we weren’t close on the level of confiding in each other about grief. As I said then, I don’t want this to sound like I’m trying to disown him now that we’ve publicly and privately disagreed about politics, etc. It was just clarifying that I had no private knowledge that equipped me to speculate on his grieving process and how that related to mine.
Legend released his debut album, Get Lifted, via the G.O.O.D. Music label in 2004. The project included production by Kanye West. The two musicians also collaborated on records such as Legend’s “It’s Over,” West’s “Blame Game,” DJ Khaled’s “Grammy Family,” Slum Village’s “Selfish,” and Consequence’s “Whatever You Want.”

(AllHipHop News) Fat Joe is one of the few rap stars that emerged in the 1990s that can still make it on the single charts in the 2010s. The man also known as Don Cartagena has been penning Billboard hits since 1993’s “Flow Joe.”
Apparently, Kanye West did not know Fat Joe wrote his own bars. L.A. Leakers caught up with the Bronx emcee, and they spoke about the 2012 song “Pride N Joy” featuring Kanye and Roscoe Dash.
“I sat down to do a record with Kanye West. We did the joint ‘Pride N Joy.’ And when I pulled out my paper and started writing he was like, ‘You write music?’ This was five years ago,” recalled Fat Joe. “He was like, ‘You rap?’ I was like, ‘What do you mean? We’re making a song together.'”
The Terror Squad frontman continued, “He said, ‘Oh, I just thought you were like a mafia don that they come give you different raps and you chose which one you’re gonna say.’ I’m like, ‘Get the f*ck out of here. I’ve been rapping my whole life. What the hell are you talking about? I never had no help.'”
“Yes” with Cardi B and Anuel AA is Fat Joe’s most recent single. The track is set to appear on Joey’s upcoming eleventh studio album titled Family Ties. His previous solo LP was 2010’s The Darkside Vol. 1. Fat Joe also partnered with Remy Ma for Plata O Plomo in 2017.
(AllHipHop News) Khalif “Swae Lee” Brown is a titan of the charts. Swae Lee and Post Malone’s “Sunflower” climbed to #1 on the Hot 100 in 2019, and the single’s video amassed more than 800 million YouTube views.
The Rae Sremmurd member also contributed vocals to a No. 1 record in 2018 when Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode” reached the pinnacle of the Hot 100. However, Swae Lee seemed to feel a way about being left out of the music video which featured Scott and Drake.
“Someone said they didn’t see Swae Lee in the sicko mode video yea I noticed that too,” tweeted the Mississippi-raised crooner a year ago.
Even though Swae Lee earned two Grammy nominations for “Sicko Mode” (Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song), there are still listeners that are unaware of his involvement with the smash. DJ Whoo Kid recently asked Brown about not getting properly recognized for assisting Scott on the Astroworld track.
“Shout out to the boys,” said Swae, referring to Travis Scott and Drake. “I don’t really… The game is gonna do what it do. I just take everything, learn from it, note it. It’s a blessing to just be part of such big tracks.”
He continued, “At the end of the day, it’s a win-win situation. I don’t take nothing personally. Who knows what agenda they had for the song. I’m apart of the motherf*cker, so I ain’t tripping… I spoke my piece and left it at that.”
Swae Lee is not a stranger to big tracks. His writing credits also include Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles,” Beyoncé’s “Formation,” French Montana’s “Unforgettable,” and other hits.
(AllHipHop News) Kodak Black found himself in even more trouble behind bars. The South Florida rapper was apparently involved in a fight in a Miami detention center that led to a guard being taken to the hospital to undergo surgery.
According to reports, Black (born Bill Kapri) got into a physical altercation with another inmate. The 22-year-old supposedly kicked the guard in the groin while he was trying to break up the brawl.
