Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” Becomes The Most-Viewed Music Video On YouTube

(AllHipHop News) Pittsburgh rapper Wiz Khalifa is the new king of YouTube.

BBC News reports Wiz’s video for “See You Again” featuring Charlie Puth has collected 2,895,373,709 views (as of writing).

That total surpasses Psy’s 2,894,426,475 views for the viral hit “Gangnam Style.”

The South Korean hit maker’s clip had been the most watch video on the site since 2012.

“See You Again” was a smash record as well.

Wiz and Puth’s single from the Furious 7 soundtrack spent 12 nonconsecutive weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2015.

Many critics and fans were surprised when “See You Again” was not nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song.

“I don’t really get into the political stuff, but I do know it depends on who gets nominated and who doesn’t, and it is not based on just the music. I’m focused on the music so I’m doing my part,” stated Wiz in a 2016 Billboard interview.

Later that year, “See You Again” became the first video by a Hip Hop act to cross the 2 billion viewed mark.

It also received nominations at the Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, and Golden Globe Awards.

The musical tribute to the late Fast & Furious actor Paul Walker did win the honor of Best Song at the 2016 Critics’ Choice Awards.

50 Cent and Eminem were reportedly approached about recording “See You Again” before Wiz Khalifa.

“At the time [Eminem and I] had to make a decision between doing [the Southpaw soundtrack] and the song for Fast & Furious,” said 50. “And that [‘See You Again’] was a huge success for Wiz Khalifa and them. [Eminem] decided to do Southpaw because he was invested in the project.”

The rest of the Top 5 on the list of most-watched YouTube music videos is Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” (2,635,572,161), Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk” featuring Bruno Mars (2,550,545,717), and Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito” featuring Daddy Yankee (2,482,502,747).

Blac Youngsta Uses Nas’ “Hate Me Now” Video To Defend Posting Jesus Crucifixion Imagery

(AllHipHop News) Use of religious imagery in art is always a touchy subject.

In the past, Hip Hop artists like Kanye West, The Game, and Nas have faced backlash for making visual references to Jesus Christ.

Blac Youngsta is now facing similar criticism for a picture he posted on Instagram.

Last night, the Memphis rapper uploaded a photo of himself tied to a cross like the crucifixion of Jesus.

Apparently, it was meant to be an homage to the cover art of Tupac Shakur’s The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory.

“HAIL MARY COME WITH ME ?? R.I.P TUPAC #HEAVYCAMP,” wrote Youngsta in the picture’s caption.

The image did not sit well with some IG users, and the “Birthday” rhymer pushed back against the negative reactions by mentioning a Hip Hop legend.

“BUT IT WAS COOL WHEN NAS DID IT,” Blac Youngsta tweeted.

As noted earlier, Nas’ 1999 music video for “Hate Me Now” was viewed as very controversial at the time because the Queens emcee depicted himself as Jesus throughout the clip.

Bad Boy Records head Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs was featured on the song and in the video.

The religious symbolism actually led to Puffy attacking Nas’ then manager Steve Stoute with a champagne bottle.

Combs was angry because he requested that any scenes of him on a cross be removed, but when the visuals debuted on MTV the images of him being crucified were still included.

An edited version of the “Hate Me Now” video without the scenes with Puff on the cross was eventually presented instead.

Nas addressed the Puff Daddy/Steve Stoute incident on his God’s Son track “Last Real N**** Alive.”

2 Chainz Talks Being Caught In The Middle Of The Nicki Minaj/Remy Ma Feud (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Over the last few months, Nicki Minaj used several guest features on other artists’ songs to address her rival Remy Ma.

One of those tracks that included lines direct at Remy is 2 Chainz’s “Realize” off his Pretty Girls Like Trap Music album.

2 Chainz did an interview with the Streetz Is Watchin radio show, and he was asked about the fallout from Nicki taking shots at Rem on his record.

“We ran up on each other – Papoose and Remy. But it was all good vibes,” said the rapper formerly known as Tity Boi. “I rock with Remy and Papoose. Me and Remy were talking about doing something before all this happened.”

He continued, “Papoose dapped me down. She was like, ‘I don’t rock with Tity Boi no more.’ She didn’t say it like that. She was like, ‘I don’t f-ck with him.’ She was in my face and I was like, ‘I love you though.'”

Chainz went on to say that he told the couple he had no control over Nicki Minaj’s artistic expression.

“I sent her a song. This is what the song apparently made her say or do,” explained Chainz. “I originally only asked Nicki for a hook. So for her to do more than a hook, I wasn’t gonna come back and say, ‘You doing too much.’ I was very appreciative of it.”

He added, “I told them that I pray that they could come to some kind of resolution, because they’re two dope, black women.”

The Atlanta native also spoke about his new LP, his Pink Trap House, working with Eminem, visiting with Kanye West, being compared to JAY-Z, the generational divide in Hip Hop, and more.

West Coast Pioneer Alonzo Williams Talks New Book, And Concerns For Hip-Hop Culture

(AllHipHop News) One of N.W.A’s unsung earliest champions is preparing to release his memoirs, just as HBO’s new documentary series “The Defiant Ones” about Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine debuts.

Alonzo “Lonzo” Williams was instrumental in the explosion of West Coast hip-hop with his group The World Class Wrecking Cru and can take the credit for being the first person to discover Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Eazy E.

In addition to his appearance in Allen Hughes’ “The Defiant Ones,” Lonzo is doubling down on his contributions for history’s sake, with his new audiobook/memoirs, total “N.ot W.ithout A.lonzo.”

“My inclusion in ‘The Defiant Ones’ shines the light on many things I have been talking about for years,” Lonzo explained to AllHipHop.com. “When Allen Hughes first contacted me about being interviewed, we were supposed to spend about two hours together. Two hours turned into six as he was amazed by the history, anecdotes and insights I could share with him. I have nothing but gratitude for him and HBO for taking note of my role and input at the beginning of what has blossomed into one of music’s largest genres. It still amazes me to this day, because at the time, we had no clue that our efforts would evolve to this level.”

“N.ot W.ithout A.lonzo,” is narrated by Lonzo, whose role in Dre and the crew’s career was highlighted in the hit movie “Straight Outta Compton.”

Lonzo explained that he hopes his book reaches a new generation of Hip-Hop heads to make them understand the true purpose of HIp-Hop culture.

“Though I’m happy about the popularity of hip hop culture, I’m not thrilled with some of the elements of it,” Lonzo said. “In the early days, it wasn’t about money, gangster bravado, crime and going to jail. It was about the music and keeping it real. My message as I mentor youth is to remind them that hip hop is really a creative art form and the message in the music is very important. The more I reveal about the early days of hip hop, the more the truth is unveiled and the more likely we can get back to some of those original concepts,” cites Williams. His weekly male mentoring podcast, “Lonzo Presents G.A.M.E. (G.rown A.ss M.an E.nlightenment), is set to launch shortly.

Stay Woke: Jay Z, Biggie and the Hypnotizing Effect of Hip Hop

“Biggie Biggie Biggie Can’t you see/Sometimes your words just hypnotize me.” – Notorious BIG

It was June 30, 2017 and Rashad Jackson had just sat down to listen to the new Jay Z album. Although he heard a loud ruckus outside his bedroom window, he ignored it thinking it was just a bunch of overzealous Jay Z fans who were just as eager to download 444 as he was. That was until the Feds kicked down his door and told him that they were arresting every black male in his hood for suspected criminal activity….
One of the most effective tactics of the oppressor is the art of distraction. Kinda like when you were a kid and the doctor told you to “watch the birdie” while he stuck that long needle in your left arm. Politically, this country has mastered the art of having you looking up in the sky while they pickpocket your wallet. They have mastered the art of hypnotizing the masses. Entertainment has always been used as a way to distract people. Some people have alleged that it was no mere coincidence that Louis Armstrong was on tour in Africa via the State Department  at approximately the same time Patrice Lumumba was assassinated. Domestically, it is no secret that James Brown was used to keep Black people from rioting in the streets after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. However,  in the Trump era distraction seems to be in overdrive. Last month, on June 16th, while Tupac Shakur fans across the country were busy putting extra butter on their popcorn at the premiere of the biopic  All Eyez on Me,  Donald Trump asked Cuba to extradite Tupac’s godmother, Assata Shakur, something that the government has been trying, unsuccessfully, to do for about 40 years. More recently, Shawn Carter fans  were too busy trying to subscribe to his Tidal streaming service to see the tidal wave of repression that was headed their way. On June 30th , Trump announced that he was sending in federal agents to help stop the violence in Chicago aka Chiraq. While the average American may think that this is a good thing, history teaches us otherwise. The “get tough on crime”  policies have never really worked out for  black people in a society funded largely by the Prison Industrial Complex. Yes, the mass incarceration of black men in AmeriKKKa is big business.  Also, it cannot be disputed that both Ronald Reagan’s “War on Drugs,”  which happened during  the same time the CIA was, allegedly, pumping crack into South Central LA, and Bill Clinton’ s “Three Strikes Law” were epic fails. We must , also , never forget that  the power structure has a real hard time differentiating between criminal activity and civil disobedience and protest, This goes back to the Richard Nixon Era when “Tricky Dick” spent more time trying to bring down the Black Panther Party than stopping the heroin epidemic that was wrecking havoc on the ‘hood.   Ironically, also on June 30th, as the media were just getting wind of the new National Rife Association’s recruitment video which used footage of the Baltimore Rebellion to scare white folk into supporting the Po Po and picking up an extra double barreled shotgun to protect themselves. I’m surprised that they didn’t try to use Nas’s Got Yourself a Gun as theme music. What is especially alarming about the NRA call to arms is their strong pro Second Amendment stance has always endeared them to the anti-government white militias (and some black folk) who believe that at any moment the Feds are gonna come snatch up all their weapons. Even early Black Power advocate Robert Williams was a card carrying member of the NRA. So, to see them in bed with the Feds is strange indeed. But as they say “politics makes strange bedfellows.” Am I saying that the Tupac movie release and the Jay Z  album dates were, intentionally ,  part of a grand conspiracy to put the newly “woke” back to sleep. Of course not. Distractions only work on those who are easily distracted. But what I am saying is to be black in America means that  you are always being suckered into a crooked game of Three Card Monte with the deck stacked against you. What Are J. Cole & Dr. Dre Cooking Up?!

(AllHipHop Rumors) J. Cole just kicked off his ‘4 Your Eyez Only’ tour, and if that wasn’t enough for fans, Cole has also been spotted in the studio with Hip Hop mogul Dr. Dre.

The photo features J. Cole, Dem Jointz, Mell Beets, King Mez, J.LBS and Dr. Dre. Dem has the net buzzing even more as he left the caption “Blue Lights” leading fans to speculate if that was the title of a new track or project from Cole and Dre.

Daz Dillinger & L.T. Hutton Go In On John Singleton Following ‘All Eyez On Me’ Script Leak

(AllHipHop Rumors) Every time the controversy surrounding the Tupac biopic, ‘All Eyez On Me’, seems to die down, something else sparks it up.

The reviews from the long-awaited biopic have been divided, with most being negative. For months there has been much talk about why John Singleton was allegedly fired from directing the biopic, and what was allegedly found in his script.

Now several parts of what has been said to be John Singleton’s script have leaked online. Remember, Singleton came under fire when the producer of the biopic, L.T. Hutton stated that Singleton had a script that wanted to show Pac getting raped in jail, and Pac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, having a threesome.

Daz Dillinger and L.T. Hutton had a little bit of time on their hands as they proceeded to blast John!

Daz posted excerpts from the alleged script, stating that Tupac would’ve beat John’s ass over the script. He also expressed that rape is no laughing matter.

“THIS IS THE @johnsingleton SCRIPT ? @2pac would have beat his azzz over this,” said Daz.

Singleton decided to respond to not only Daz but to everyone who is so concerned with his script. He asked why are people so concerned with a script that didn’t end up making the movie, and he expressed that he allegedly worked on the script with Afeni Shakur.

He also goes on to criticize the film again by saying that it was supposed to be our ‘Malcom X’ film. Singleton says he would’ve never done anything to destroy Tupac’s legacy, and that folks are out here giving passes to the very same folks who messed up the film, and failed to honor the man’s legacy.

L.T. responded by saying that John never watched the movie or worked with Afeni. Hutton says that the deal for the film was done in 2011, and Singleton didn’t come on until 2013-2014.

The entire way this film was handled and made is sketchy. Carry on. Someone is lying!

Diddy’s Lawyers Say Mogul Refuses to Be Extorted By Ex-Chef In Harassment Lawsuit Reply

(AllHipHop News) Rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs’ lawyers have slammed his former chef’s sexual harassment lawsuit as a bid to “extract a settlement.”

Cindy Rueda filed a complaint in Los Angeles County Superior Court in May (17) alleging she was asked to serve meals to the rapper and or his friends while they were having sex and was subsequently framed for theft and fired after she complained about it.

Lawyers for the 46-year-old music mogul have now formally responded to the lawsuit in a letter to her lawyers penned by his attorney Orin Snyder and filed with the court.

“Combs enterprises will not be extorted,” the letter, obtained by editors at the New York Daily News, reads.

Accusing Rueda’s suit of being, “infected with distortions, omissions and outright falsehoods” he added, “Your motives are clear: To threaten to slander and impugn the reputation of our client in the hopes of extracting a settlement. This smacks of bad faith – and worse.”

The chef, who worked for Combs from January 2015 until May last year, is suing the rapper for wrongful termination, sexual harassment, retaliation, defamation, failure to pay overtime and intentional infliction of emotional distress, among other claims.

In her complaint, Rueda alleged that while employed by the rapper she had been, “regularly summoned by Mr. Combs to prepare and serve entrees and appetizers to him and his guests while Mr. Combs and/or his guests were engaged in or immediately following sexual activity.”

She claims her firing came after the music mogul’s executive housekeeper Iris offered her a watch she said had been found in the trash.

Having taken the timepiece Rueda says she was subsequently accused of theft and told she would not be prosecuted if she returned it and signed a legal waiver.

The chef states that she returned the watch but refused to sign the waiver and was subsequently fired.

In his letter Snyder called the allegation she was framed “particularly outrageous.”

Combs’ legal paperwork requested court officials schedule a hearing for August of 2017.

Kanye West Reportedly Still Has Love For His “Brother” Jay-Z

(AllHipHop Rumors) From concert breakdowns, and album disses, it’s been hard to make out the current status of Jay-Z and Kanye West’s relationship.

Kanye called Jay-Z and Beyonce out during his string of breakdown-fueled rants last year, and Jay-Z put him in his place on his ‘4:44’ album.

For some reason, I still didn’t take it as their relationship was completely over. I felt it was fair and strategic game for Hov to respond, and I still view the entire thing as a little bit of brotherly beef. When it’s familial, folks can often make up.

Well, 2 Chainz has revealed that Kanye West told him that he still views Jay-Z as his brother in a recent visit to the West family.

2 Chainz told DJ Drama,

“Yeah Jay-Z came up….. For the most part bro was like we still brothers. He had a couple things that was probably personal that he wanted me to keep. We talked about the music, the climate right now. For me it was going through all the pink trap house pics. When you get around Ye, it’s about being creative.”

It sounds like the drama between Ye and Jay will all boil over. Maybe Jay will bring Yeezy out on the ‘4:44’ tour! What are your thoughts?

Did Tyler The Creator Just Come Out As Gay?

(AllHipHop Rumors) Wait a minute!

Tyler The Creator has had a lot of stuff to say over his WILD career, but uh, I don’t know if we are going to believe this one yet.

Tyler was set to release his long-awaited album, ‘Flower Boy’ in a few weeks, however, folks couldn’t wait, and the project leaked.

With the leak of the project, the ‘net took notice of some of the lyrics in the song, “I Ain’t Got Time!”.

“Next line will have ’em like ‘Whoa’ / I been kissing white boys since 2004,”

Tyler does like to troll a lot so who knows?! Another song called “Garden Shed” was interesting as well.

“That was real love I was in, Ain’t no reason to pretend/ All my friends was lost / They couldn’t read the signs / I didn’t want to talk / I tell ’em my location and they ain’t want to walk” a few bars later,” said Tyler.

Apparently two years ago he tried to come out of the closet also in a tweet!

“I TRIED TO COME OUT THE DAMN CLOSET LIKE FOUR DAYS AGO AND NO ONE CARED HAHAHHAHAHA,” tweeted Tyler.

Do you think Tyler is just trolling for album sales and publicity?

Is Prodigy Mural Being Permanently Removed?

(AllHipHop Rumors) UH OH! If you aren’t following us on Instagram, you should. For the last few days, we have been talking about people defacing the Prodigy mural. Ever since it has been put up, somebody has tossed paint on it. Well when the red paint splashed over our fallen Hip-Hop brethren, some idiot decided to throw in the towel and cover the whole mural up. Way to fight for the god.

Anyway, maybe they are going to put the mural in a better place? They need to pay homage to Prodigy. Not only did he help put Queensbridge projects on the map, he was a positive force at the end if his life. We need to continue to salute him and pay respects. 20 plus years of front line music entertainment and this is the thanks they get? SMH.

Could Jay-Z Be Ready To Sign Azealia Banks?

Image result for azealia banks gif
(AllHipHop Rumors) I don’t know for sure, but I think this could be categorized as Duck Tales. Azealia Banks has had a career for the ages and yet most of it does not have anything to do with her ability to rap.

At this point, social media is a cesspool of lies and misinformation GENERALLY. But those that have a voice tend to get called out on their BS since there are so many eyes on it.

Anyway, Banksy has been suspended so many times from Twitter, it seems she has been forced to adopt a new social media moniker. Seems like the “innanets” are still following. I’m gonna go on a think limb and say “issa no,” but you never know. Stranger things have happened.
