DJ Akademiks Says Complex Edited Footage Of Confrontational Migos Interview

(AllHipHop News) One of the most talked about moments from Sunday night’s BET Awards didn’t even take place during the ceremony.

The Everyday Struggle show interviewed numerous celebrities on the event’s red carpet, but it was footage of a tense sit down with Migos that quickly spread across the internet.

Hosts Joe Budden and DJ Akademiks caught backlash from some social media users for how the Q&A ended.

Akademiks used his Twitter account to address the controversy.

According to the YouTube star, Complex News edited out a pre-interview section that could have provided context to why things got so heated with Takeoff, Quavo, and Offset.

DJ Akademiks wrote:

I’m finally watching the episode.. theres hella sh-t missing. Joe tries to dap them up… they stare at him. Wasn’t wit it. [Quality Control Music] President intervenes on the interview.. and has words. the context missing robs yall of understand why its so tense/awkward. This is all before the stand up incident that is viral. It all adds why I’m the only one speaking to them. Clear it was an issue from get go. By the time they stand up.. sh-t already so tense before & during (someone intervened 2 have words).. a simple mic drop made them standup. Only reason I’m clearing this up.. is that this narrative bout me ‘d-ck riding too much’ or tryna play em.. is 100 % wrong. Cut it out.

The issues between Quality Control, Migos, and Budden likely stems from Budden’s constant criticism of fellow QC act Lil Yachty.

Budden and Yachty also had their own uncomfortable confrontation on a previous episode of Everyday Struggle.

The released version of the Migos red carpet interview included DJ Akademiks questioning Takeoff about not appearing on the group’s#### single “Bad and Boujee.”

Takeoff responded by repeating he was not left off the record as Ak continued asking the rapper to repeat himself.

Akademiks later claimed he was not able to hear Takeoff because of the background noise on the red carpet.

“Alright, we gotta rap this up though,” interjected Budden as the Takeoff/Akademiks exchange became more awkward.

Akademiks then tried to close the interview by offering a compliment to Migos.

He stated, “I wish I could talk to Migos longer. This is one of my favorite groups.”

Budden then dropped his microphone and walked off the set.

That was followed by all three members of Migos standing up, other people entering into the frame, and the situation getting close to turning violent.

“What you tryna do?” Quavo can be heard asking Budden.

The Rage & The Machine album creator later spoke about the incident at the end of Everyday Struggle‘s BET Awards red carpet coverage.

“There’s no tension in the air. It’s a bunch of phony waffling and posturing for cameras and carpets. There’s no tension anywhere,” added Budden. “I don’t want to talk to anybody that don’t want to sit here. I don’t give a f-ck about your stardom or your notoriety. If you ain’t got much to say, then what the f-ck are you in our seats for? Bye.”

Diddy Postpones Rap Comeback To Mentor New Artists

(AllHipHop News) Hip-hop superstar Sean ‘Diddy”’ Combs is postponing his return to music to promote new non-white artists.

The 47-year-old has not released an official studio album in a decade, although he did put out a mixtape in 2015 as a taster of his long-awaited comeback.

However, Combs now says he’s more interested in offering opportunities to the next generation of stars rather than dropping a new album himself.

“I want to dive into producing and creating content and really just supporting content creators,” he tells BuzzFeed News. “I think that the impact I want to have is to be able to empower a lot of the storytellers of color, who are not getting that chance and that opportunity.

“When I’m starting to make decisions, (I’m like,) ‘Can I have an impact that’s bigger than myself?’ Working behind the scenes, I think, will give people more opportunities and break down some doors.”

His long-awaited comeback record, No Way Out 2, is billed as Combs’ last album and is a sequel to his acclaimed 1997 debut No Way Out.

The new delay to its unveiling comes despite its purported lead single, “Finna Get Loose,” being released in 2015 to immense U.S. chart success.

Speaking about his own start in rap, which came as a talent director at New York hip-hop label Uptown Records, Combs says the lack of non-white executives in the music industry motivated him to strive for success.

“That’s all the music industry was when I was coming up,” he explains. “I mean, that’s what also gave me motivation ’cause I wanted to break down that door.”

The music mogul went on to found Bad Boy Records, home to acts including The Notorious B.I.G., Faith Evans and R&B group 112, in 1993, and later branched out, founding his own fashion label Sean John.

Run The Jewels Slam Sexual Perverts During Glastonbury Set

(AllHipHop News) Hip-hop duo Run the Jewels slammed gig goers who sexually harass women during their performance at Britain’s Glastonbury festival.

Rappers Killer Mike and El-P performed on the iconic Pyramid Stage at the music event in Somerset, England and were keen to ensure none of their female fans weren’t left feeling uncomfortable.

Before playing their track “Close Your Eyes (And Count To F##k),” Mike said, “We got one big rule. All the ladies, that’s half our audience, if they didn’t come with you or invite you, keep your grubby hands and little d##k off them.

“We want you to party and meet your future wife so you guys make a baby. But that’s a mutual decision, it’s not you deciding. So if I see you do it we’re going to punch you in your f##king face, over and over again.”

A number of bands have been speaking out about harassment at concerts recently, as officials at Girls Against, a U.K. campaign promoting female gig goers’ safety, have received backing from acts including The 1975, Wolf Alice and Slaves.

Before a raucous set the rap group also told their fans to look out for each other, with El-P stating, “When you’re part of the Run the Jewels community, when you see someone fall down… pick that motherf##ker up.”

Run the Jewels were introduced by U.K. Labor Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, who received a rapturous reception for a speech calling for a more equal society.

Chrystel Details A Risky Relationship On New Single “Dangerous”

ATL based singer/songwriter, Chrystel quickly follows up her previous record, “Disciples” released last month, and returns with a Papa Fall-produced single titled “Dangerous.” Already an instant Summer classic, the song was inspired by new love interests mixed with the idea of knowing that any and everything, can go wrong in a risky relationship but still wanting to proceed.

Here’s what she had to say about the record;

“I freestyled the whole song the first time I heard the beat in the studio and ironically it’s my favorite out of all the records I’ve released. The song reminds me of all of the African music I heard growing up. It has a very nostalgic bass line.”

Migos & Chris Brown Involved In Heated Confrontation Following BET Awards (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) It looks like the Everyday Struggle hosts were not the only ones to nearly come to blows with Migos in Los Angeles yesterday.

There’s footage circulating online of Migos’ Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff in some type of altercation with associates of Chris Brown.

TMZ reports Quavo was pushed by a member of CB’s camp, and someone connected to Migos jumped in before being punched.

Brown can be seen in a video of the melee, but he does not appear to be directly involved.

The tension between the R&B singer and the rap trio could also be a result of Quavo supposedly dating Brown’s ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran.

Chris Brown has a history of getting into fights over his exes.

In 2012, he and Drake were involved in a bottle-throwing altercation at a New York City nightclub.

That brawl was rumored to be about Drizzy’s relationship with Brown’s former girlfriend Rihanna.

Outside of the behind-the-scenes antics, Migos were having a winning evening.

The Atlanta-bred act performed at the 2017 BET Awards, and they took home the trophy for Best Group.

CB performed during the award ceremony as well.

Nearly 30 million viewers watched the three-part The New Edition Story during the biopic’s first-week airing.

Havoc, Lil Kim & Kendrick Lamar Honor Prodigy At 2017 BET Awards

(AllHipHop News) Last week the world found out about the passing of New York rapper Albert “Prodigy” Johnson.

Prodigy’s fellow Mobb Deep member Havoc and “Quiet Storm (Remix)” collaborator Lil Kim paid homage to the late emcee at the 2017 BET Awards.

“His pen painted vivid pictures of street life. He made what was ugly sound beautiful,” stated Kim.

Havoc added, “For over 20 years, he and I went through it all and seen it all. I’m going to miss my dude.”

Kim and Havoc also presented the award for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist.

The category’s winner, Kendrick Lamar, used part of his acceptance speech to honor P as well.

“Prodigy inspired my first mixtape at 16 years old, Y.H.N.I.C.,” said Lamar. “Off [Prodigy’s H.N.I.C.,] I was inspired to study my skills and work on my connection with my neighborhood and how can I inspire them the same way he inspired the streets.”

Remy Ma Breaks Nicki Minaj’s Seven-Year Winning Streak At The BET Awards

(AllHipHop News) From 2010 through 2016, the BET Award for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist went to one woman.

Nicki Minaj’s seven-year win streak in the category ended last night when Remy Ma won the honor for 2017.

The crowd at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater gave the Bronx rhymer a standing ovation as she went on stage to accept her award.

“I’ve been through a lot. To everybody who thinks there’s no such thing as second chances, I’m here to tell you that’s a lie,” said Remy during her acceptance speech.

Since being released from prison in 2014, Remy Ma joined the cast of Love & Hip Hop and partnered with Fat Joe for the double platinum single “All The Way Up.”

Joe and Rem also released the joint album Plata O Plomo in 2017.

In addition, Remy has been engaged in a feud with Minaj which included the well received diss track “Shether.”

The New Yorker ended her BET speech by saying, “Y’all b-tches got fat while we starved. Shots in your ass, pads in your bras. Y’all some liars. It ain’t no facts in your songs. And yeah, that crown is coming back to The Bronx.”

Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Young M.A, and Missy Elliott were the other nominees up for the 2017 Best Female Hip-Hop Artist award.

Joe Budden & DJ Akademiks Conduct Tense Interview With Migos (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) There has been yet another awkward interview from the Everyday Struggle team.

The show’s hosts Joe Budden, DJ Akademiks, and Nadeska Alexis were out at the BET Awards this weekend.

They took the time to interview the rap group Migos.

At one point, Akademiks asked Migos member Takeoff about not having a verse on “Bad and Boujee.”

The conversation then got tense, and Budden called for the interview to end before he walked off the set.

Migos apparently took issue with the rapper-turned-media personality leaving as both camps nearly got into a scuffle.

“I was justified, I’d had enough,” Budden later tweeted. “They was just a little too sassy for me that’s all.”

Akademiks offered his own explanation on Instagram, “I couldn’t hear sh-t.. no ear piece and loud asf on the carpet. I was the only person in between Migos and joe… I tried y’all.”

The Everyday Struggle exchange with Migos comes after Vic Mensa called out Akademiks during a show last week.

This is also not the first time Joe Budden walked out of an interview.

The New Jersey native exited a sit down with Hot 97 in 2016, and he cut short a 2015 guest appearance on Taxstone’s podcast.

Los Angeles Cops Investigating Lil Kim and Her Crew In $20K Robbery

(AllHipHop News)  Rapper Lil Kim and members of her entourage are facing serious charges, after they were allegedly involved in a robbery over the weekend in Los Angeles.

Lil Kim is scheduled to take the stage tonight (June 26), during the 2017 BET Awards during a tribute to late Mobb Deep rapper Prodigy.

But, police say Kim has run into some legal problems after renting a house intended for a party during the BET Awards.

Apparently, Kim was not satisfied with the house she had rented, and ended up in a dispute with the property owner.

According to police, the owner refused to return the rap star’s deposit, resulting in a confrontation.

Police arrived on the scene, to break up fracas around 2:00 AM this morning.

According to TMZ.com, around 4 AM, a group of masked man returned to the scene and robbed the property owner of Lil Kim’s deposit, which was at least $20,000.

Then, the men vandalized the property owners’ car for good measure and slashed all of the tires on a vehicle.

Police are investigating the robbery now.

Lil Kim and Havoc To Honor Prodigy During The BET Awards

(AllHipHop News) Mobb Deep rapper Havoc will join Lil’ Kim in paying tribute to his late bandmate Prodigy at the upcoming BET Awards.

Prodigy, real name Albert Johnson, passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Tuesday (June 20) after being hospitalized “for complications caused by a sickle cell anaemia crisis”.

Havoc, his Mobb Deep rap partner and Lil’ Kim, who appeared on the duo’s biggest hit “Quiet Storm,” have been added to the list of presenters at Sunday’s Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards ceremony.

The pair will reportedly pay tribute during the entertainment prize giving at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Executives at the BET network reportedly asked Lil’ Kim and Havoc to say a few words as they were unable to organize a full musical memorial at such short notice.

The late rapper was hospitalized last weekend after falling ill, after a performance at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center on Saturday.

According to TMZ, Prodigy choked on an egg in hospital on the morning of his passing. It’s unclear whether or not the choking incident contributed to his death.

He had battled sickle-cell anaemia, a genetic blood disorder, since birth.

Prodigy’s autopsy has been completed by the Clark County Medical Examiner but the results will not be released until a toxicology report is available, in six to eight weeks’ time.
